Hope the mover of the motion is doing so In good faith. Hope his ward wasn't denied admission through Putme.

Quite frankly speaking, the move is a good one. It really amount to waste of time and resources writing jamb and post utme.

But I used to think that lack of enough institution that will take the millions seeking admission is the problem.

The Senate should rather create bil that will sanitise the private universities and provide an enabling environment for more institution to come on board. 120 universities 80 government owned and 40 privately owned. This is way too small for a country of 200 millions.

Brazil has about 3000 universities 70 of which is Agriculturally inclined. How can they have food shortage or how can their children seeking admission not have space.

Imagine about 8000 students applied for medicine in ABU last year and ABU have vacancy for only about 300 students.

I think PMB need to declare state of emergency on education.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), said Mr. Ademola Magbojuri has taken over from Mrs. Yetunde Oni as Acting Director-General (DG).


The spokesperson of the agency, Dr. Abubakar Jimoh, disclosed this while reacting to the conflicting reports in the media over the retirement of Oni on Saturday in Abuja.

He explained that the immediate past acting director-general reached the retirement age of 60 years on Sept. 21, and the Federal Government directed that the most senior director in the agency takes charge.

He said that Magbojuri, who would pilot the affairs of NAFDAC until a substantive D-G is appointed, had received handing over notes on Friday. Magbojuri, until this appointment, was in charge of NAFDAC’s training and research institute in Kaduna.

As at Friday, the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria laid siege to the NAFDAC head office in Abuja over non-payment of allowances and appointment of either an acting or substantive director general.

Recall that union started an industrial action on September 22 over improved allowances and appointment of the new DG for the agency.

The Vice President of the union, Mr. Idzi Isua, said on Friday that they were around the office to ensure total compliance by the members.

Isua said that the union was demanding for an allowance known as a specific allowance, which other agencies in the same salary structure with NAFDAC were benefitting.

The former president said this in an interview with African Arguments magazine, and stressed that President Buhari had not done enough for Nigerians especially in employment creation for the youth.
”All youth in Nigeria have legitimate reasons to feel frustrated and angry. Buhari has made some announcements. He has tried to keep on going in the area of agribusiness, but not enough. It is not yet enough to prepare the ground for uninhibited growth of the economy, which we need,” Mr. Obasanjo said.
He said the president can do more to empower the youth and advised that if youth empowerment, skill acquisition, youth employment, and education are provided, “the ticking bomb of possible youth explosion out of restiveness and anger will subside.”...
