She obviously respects Buhari. That is very interesting.

And yes, Nigeria is fantastically corrupt. We cannot deny that. The world has known this fact for decades.

If the people of Nigeria frustrate the efforts of PMB we would have ourselves to blame. We may not have another leader fearless enough to combat powerful cabals in the next 50 years. Let us not waste this God-given opportunity to clean up this nation.

I sincerely don't understand why buhari is being lauded for accepting Cameron's claim. Who isn't corrupt? The country looting to UK Banks or the UK Banks which are gladly accepting the loots from other countries?

For me Buhari goofed.

If someone, four streets away from yours, tells the local govt of your neighborhood that your family members are all thieves and were brought up that way, and your are the father, what would be your reaction?

We all know this rule but seem to render it inapplicable... "Defend in the public, condemn in the closet"

Is David Cameron the owner of these banks?

Buhari would appear like an i.diot to the rest of the world if he claimed that Nigeria is NOT fantastically corrupt.
The world has known it for a long time now.

This is the typical mentality of an average Nigerian. He will act holy in the public but behave like a criminal once he is behind closed doors and then demand respect.

Fools.

Very well written. I never had cause to doubt Abati's pedigree as a wordsmith.

The talent is inborn and he didn't lie.

How else do you describe corruption that forces you to part with a bribe at the mortuary when you go to collect the body of a departed loved one? Is that not wickedly fantastic corruption?

David Cameron, you no lie. We are fantastically corrupt just as you are a fantastic corrupt receiver of the stolen goods from us.

Now, in the name of Chukwu okike abiama, return our monies by fire by force.

So David Cameron put the money into a bank?
The banks are government property?

It's not by force to comment on issues and appear s.illy.

Won't take that if am d president of Nigeria. Not under my watch. Will u say my country is corrupt. If not u av failed as a president. Who does business wiv a corrupt country? Ask urself.

The country is FANTASTICALLY corrupt so instead of asking for respect, Nigerians should learn to earn it.
Only an idi.ot will ask for respect where none has been deserved.

So you would hide the FACT that the country is FANTASTICALLY CORRUPT so that you can deceive others to make business with you?
And with this way of thinking you want to be respected?

Criminals asking for respect. SMH

Now learn to write properly before you even think of being a president.

Corruption is not Nigeria's problem.

Nigeria's problem is that people can actually make such a statement and believe that they made an intelligent contribution and that more than 100 people will actually like such comments. In short, Nigeria's biggest problem is the attitude of an average Nigerian.

You people have the country you deserve. Instead of holding your political elites accountable and instead of expecting them to provide what ALL SANE governments provide for their citizens - an efficient and stable infrastructure- you are here blaming the person who has every right to complain that the country has been run down and its rich resources mismanaged leaving millions of people with no prospects for a better life but struggle to meet their basic needs.

You ask him to get a good education? How easy is it to get a good education in Nigeria if you are not from a privileged family? The richest man in Nigeria made it from "rags to riches" or was he born into a wealthy family?

Do you even know what a government's responsibilities are?

@cybernaut

Ride on Brother! You have every right to complain. You have the right to cry and you have the right to be furious. Let them defend the people who destroyed their lives. And if they have not destroyed their lives yet, let them relocate and relocate their children to other countries because they will never feel safe in this hell created by their own people. You, my brother, have the right to expect your government to do their work and to do it properly. They are supposed to SERVE YOU.

Politics / Re: British,Biafra,Igbo And The Same Stories Of Memberships. Nigeria Lesson by Kainene77: 8:46pm On Apr 24, 2016
christopher123:
Nairaland says no to Biafra
Nigerians say no to Biafra
Christian East and Niger Delta says yes

The question is why are we having nightmare ? Why are we making people to feel Igbo are special ? I am just asking these questions because I am a bit confused and I need clarification on why Nigerians and so many people are scared of Igbo leaving . me personally I am indifferent and I don't care if Biafra comes or not . if it comes fine by me and I will be happy not as an Igbo but as a Christian that wants sanity but if it doesn't come ..well what can I do? But I pray for the former than the later ...

I am writing this because I was watching BBC news and the British have seen that EU membership is not benefiting them and they want out. The Britain are voting to leave Europe union not that they are special but they want to chart their own course and find their path. They have realised that membership of EU has never benefited them and they can't understand why they should be subsidising inept European countries like Greece , Macedonia, Eastern Europe countries with tons of bailout . Britain have never been particularly about EU membership... They never endorsed Euro as a currency and they never took them serious. The only country that is interested in European union seems to be Germany ..they bank roll the expenses of those country that are inept

The British have not decided YET. There will be a referendum. Scotland has held a referendum earlier this year and they decided to stay in the United Kingdom. Besides, SOME people believe that EU membership does not benefit them, not all people share this view.

What is this telling us...it is a lesson to black man..it has to show us that Europe is far far ahead of us..they are light years and they understand the freedom of association and right to determine their fates. Nobody is treating and threatening British government with wars and annihilation. Obama was in UK to say happy birthday to queen but used the same time to beg Brits to stay and he subtly threatened them...they called him bluff..James Cameron was so apt and point

The will vote, the Brits will vote on a referendum so to settle this European membership once and for all.

See, the reason why decisions on such referenda are not taken lightly, is because it is NOT a once and for all decision. Expanding territories or shrinking them according to people's "caprices" has led to many wars.

Here in Nigeria what do we get? Savegry, killing threats and whatsoever.. We have to respect and understand the concept of sanctity of life .

Dividing the country will not make people understand and respect such values. Pakistan split from India after independence. Do you consider it a peaceful region?

I hate violence and I think that the world is watching us in whatever we are doing ..life is sacrosanct ..I think feds should call IPOB for a round table

This is a call for us to show the world that the black race has evolved and we are civilised . we can't continue living and killing ourselves we have to find love and bileteral agreement and relationship . we have to be united be you Ghana , Nigerian ,Biafra, Ethiopian etc

You contradict yourself. You want to be united or separated?

We can at least have an intellectual debate here why we can't and why we should ...

Happy Sunday
God be with us

Well, the reason the thread will be closed soon is because people will freak out quickly.

I agree with you to a great extent BUT a political party CAN bring the desired change provided that they act in the country's best interest and based on a sound agenda that was developed by a board of qualified experts.

For now, neither of the two parties mentioned in your post convinces me that they know what they are actually doing.

Politics / Re: The Nigeria I Handed Over To Buhari Was The Biggest Economy In Africa – jonathan by Kainene77: 11:29pm On Apr 23, 2016
Quakertellicus1:
The Nigerian economy was ''big''....however it was big because the price of the resource that we were selling was high for the most part. The cracks were already there when the price of oil started falling in July 2014....especially when the government then had to borrow to meet daily needs.

Now....I know many people say our problems started because GEJ did not save.But....the problem is....even if GEJ saved...all the money would have done is delayed the inevitable. The real problem is our dependence on selling raw materials. We have to get rid of that dependency....and go and develop a manufacturing base.

If oil prices were not high....GEJ would have had a small economy.

Firstly, in an oil-dependant economy reserves MUST be build up since the oil price has been fluctuating for decades now and so a government must make sure that there is money that the government can mobilize in times like this.

Secondly, the other part of the revenues must be used to make structural adjustments. In order to develop a manufacturing base, the country needs nationwide an efficient and stable stable power supply. This is even more urgent than the elimination of corruption.

Didn't Jonathan promise to tackle the problem? How successful has he been?
