^^I am sure everyone on here knows the meaning of dowry in ENGLISH we use dowry same as bride price when referring to payment to the bride's family because it is rare to see a woman in the African community paying for her husband.
When dowry is mentioned in an African community you straight away think"payment by the future husband to the future bride".

Meaning for them its the wife bringing money or gifts to the future homes but for us it means the man paying for the future wife

It was for february to may.
We felt cheated because we do not use that much gas and we have got an electric cooker. The gas takes all your money.

Depending on who you're with the payment is done together with gas and electricity and you get your bill every three months. . The bill they sent for my household this month was four hundred and something pounds(bill for the last three months). That amount is too much unless some just love to waste energy, its ridiculous if someone is paying that amount.
And three hundred and something was on gas.

Fat is disgusting. I remember watching this program on channel 4 "Embarrassing fat bodies" or something like that and this fat woman had issues and we had to see her punny The hole was hugeeeeeee. You could fit your fist in there without struggling. Disgusting.

The reason why marriages don't work today is because people have abandoned the traditional ways of marriage and doing what they feel like with no respect not because "someone paid a dowry".
I do not think its the dowry that makes people take eachother for granted.
