You want detailed answers, for a transcript that is not detailed. Tell your friend, to come and give us a detailed transcript. And it is on the website that you are meant, to upload your picture and that you will be turned back, if you don't. Cheers! Twostep: Good day house, my friend had his interview at the lagos embassy yesteray but was denied. His brother in the army sent him an invite as he was deploying and wanted him to visit on behlaf of the family.
First; he completed the ds-160 form without uploadeing a picture (assumed he was going to snap one dere and attach as it used to be) only to get there and d photograohers told him he was supposed to upload, they collected 15k from hom to fill another form and uplod a picture and then told him to attach with the previous ds-160.
Here is a summary of how it went like he said( His transcript in summary as he stated;
Vo. Good morning Him. Same
Vo. Where in the us are you goin? Him. Said state.. to visit my bro... bla bla
Vo. Where do you work? Him. Answered
Vo. What do you do there? Him. Answerd
Vo. How do you operate? Him. Answered
Vo. Are you married? Him. No
Vo. Any kids? Him. No
Vo. Travelled before? Him. Yes, ghana
Vo. Where is your brother deploying to? Him. he sanswered
Vo. Do you know his number? Him. Not off head but i know his email add
Vo. Is his number 222222222..........? Him. Yes
Vo. How long are you staying in the us? Him. 7 weeks
Vo. I'm sorry.. bla bla
My questions: has something changed regarding uploading photo on ds-160? Why did he pay that much? If one did'nt upload photo with the intent of taking a photo there and attaching, would that have worked? Cos i have another friend going next week and he also did not upload a photo
Question2: what could have gone wrong?
Question3: should he reapply immediately?
Detailed answers would be appreciated!
Thank you! |

1. If a VO asks why you are desperate to go to the US, since you have applied for a DV Visa, then two failed visa applications (making it 3 applications). You should be prepared for such a question. That's why I asked you. I am not saying you are desperate. 2. Okay that explains the Turkey trip, now if you are asked where have you gone to, make sure to mention Turkey and give this explanation you just wrote as quick as possible. 3. The fact that you have once applied for an Immigration visa, means that you have to show that you still don't have that immigrant intent and this is through showing them strong ties to Nigeria (in the form and the interview). The others that got theirs, showed this strong ties. I am not saying you won't get your visa. opomulero: Thank you @ KaptainAfrika, (1) Know that I am not desperate, and me applying for DV lottery as for me do not show desperation since DV lottery is free for all to apply for, and if the VO is judging me based on this, i think this is unfair as many people that have applied for DV lottery and have the same issue with me have gotten B1/B2 visa.
(2)I have to travel to turkey so that I can redeem the voucher (flight ticket) given to me from work that will expire in may (5 months expiration period: January to May 2016).... its a free ticket voucher and we taught of using it to travel to US if we were granted that what made us apply in February 2016 and after denial , we then used it in April so wont loose i wont loos the voucher.
So in December 2016, we decided to apply again and was denied
(3)The VO never ask "why are you desperate to go to US" ------He asked where do you want to visit in USA: chicago |VO said OK -------where do you want to visit there: Bleep, Bleep, Bleep |VO said OK -------do you have any relative in USA: No (and honestly NO) | VO said OK
he started typing, stopped typing and starring at his computer for like a minute. and just bring out blue paper and said sorry your visa cannot be granted now, reapply....
Chikena, thats why i said can I choose another state asides chicago that i chose before? cos there is another bonus (voucher in he making for me) thats why i wanted to reapply |

FOR THOSE OF WHO YOU WISH TO COME CLEAN (AND NOT WORRY ABOUT GETTING THE US VISA), HERE IS A STATEMENT BY THE LAGOSNIV ON ANOTHER FORUM, I THINK THIS WILL BE HELPFUL.
"The first step is to apply for a visa again and tell the truth, in the application and in the interview. You should also be sure to bring it up during the interview even if not asked about it. Telling the truth in this application may not be enough for you to overcome a history of lying, but it will be the first step toward re-establishing your credibility with the United States."

1. You have shown immigrant intent by applying for the DV back then, you will need to overcome this, by showing that you have strong ties to Nigeria. 2. The trip you took to Turkey, stinks of an attempt to gain "quality" travel history. 3. Why are you desperate to go to the US? (this question has been asked by a VO in real life, at an interview). opomulero: Dear VO, My wife and I went for US visa interview last year B1/B2, we were asked of our marriage date and some other questions which we answered ok and the interviewer said OK without checking our documents.
But lastly, he asked me if i had for once entered for US VISA LOTTERY before which i answered YES. He asked when i answered DV 2012.
And the VO REJECTED OUR VISA without any explanation.
(NOTE: I entered DV 2012, I was a Lucky winner, but later they said there is a COMPUTER GLITCH which VOIDED the DV 2012 result that time and when the re-selection was done i wasnt among the lucky ones)
Please what can be the problem is it that I was wrong to enter DV 2012.
B4 this quoted write up ive been to dubai alone and after marriage 2013, been to ghana with wife. After denial of us visa feb 2016, we jetted out to turkey in april 2016, we went to us consulate again in dec 2016 and we were denied again.
....I have good paying job, ....I think i have good travel history to my own best of knowledge.
Now i wanted to try the third time and im afraid.
House please where do you think i am getting it wrong?
Kindly advise me. |

NO! The agent is not wicked, the client is a liar. You know that you are not married, why are you lying that you are married. This is the equivalent of blaming the devil for a crime you knowingly committed, did the agent point a gun at the persons head and force them to lie? I am against using agents, but this bull-crap of 'the agent told me to say something, that I knew is not true' is the reason VO's don't buy the crap that an agent did this or that. Nigerians take responsibility for the lies you put in your forms. Have some dignity, its just a bloody US Visa application. WTF. smithsydny: Some agents are very wicked shaa.. A. Therein lies the issue. She is really going for holiday this time? how can the VO trust her words, when the last time, she travelled to the US after she had gotten pregnant, meaning she wasn't going for holiday but childbirth (from the VO's perspective). B. I am guessing you people sent 'after the fact' change of intent later...it does not work, her credibility is damaged. C. Apply for a B2 medical visa, and tell her to tell the VO the truth, whether she is asked or not - that she planned to give birth in the US, and hid this from the VO that interviewed her. She may be refused or not, but it would be on records that she came clean. D. Its not a crime to give birth in the US, just be honest about it. Jacobs91: 1. No, she was to go on an holiday. But she travelled only after she became pregnant. What do you think can be done in order not to get refused a third time? She really is going for a holiday this time. 2. Sadly yes, we collected the forms a day before the appointment on both occasions that mistake wouldn't repeat it self the third time. I'll be filling out the forms this time. |

I suspect its due to the fact that, they are taking in Syrian refugees. So they are probably giving more quotas to them than tourists from less developed countries - that's my guess. I also noticed that its harder to get a schengen visa nowadays. Getting a canadian visa for tourism, is now like a high hurdle but that's just my guess. You will need a good travel history, good personal finances, things that will necessitate your return back to Nigeria - family, property, job. Johnmark247: Quite erudite and informative KaptainAfrica. But does that mean vacation is now a non gratae in the Canada immigration law? Can't they grant visitors visa to spend some quality time in their country any longer? I need an answer please as i'm also planning visiting Calgary come end of the year.
God bless |

THE ABUJA VO HAS SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT NO DOCUMENTS ARE CHECKED. EVERYTHING WE SHARE HERE, IS OUR OPINIONS, BUT WHEN A STAFF OF THE US EMBASSY SAYS SOMETHING - IT ACTUALLY CARRIES WEIGHT. prettyirene: lady G its not true oh..it depends on the vo.. last year i went for us interview at abuja. i went through this forum thoroughly...thinking us interview 3mins highest my interview lasted over 15mins , i was even offered a seat .. the then vo checked all my documents from tax clearance to my practising license,to the pictures of the products i market,to my cac certificate..thank God all my documents where genuine including bank statement. i was still denied visa..so each individual case is treated differently just pray you meet a lienent VO..since then i have been skeptical about applying.. |

1. Did she tell the VO that she was going to give birth in the US? 2. Agent made the same error twice! hmm!you guys didn't go through the application forms on both instances, hmm! Jacobs91: Gurus in the house, I need your advice, I just drove back home from the Us embassy with my sister and her husband after their appointment this morning. She's really upset. She just got denied a visa for a second time in 6 months. Her previous visa expired November last year, she filed for renewal via drop box around march this year. She spent 3months on her last visit in which she had a child. Her husband still has a valid visa but she and her first child's visa are expired. The agent who filed for the drop box renewal and this second appointment made an error on both occasions filling "1 month as the duration of her last visit when she birth her child" instead of 3months. Is that enough reason for her to be denied the second time or are there other reasons? The blue paper stated she couldn't demonstrate she had strong overseas ties. I stumbled upon this thread a few days ago. Your advise would be appreciated. |

WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THE US FOR 8 MONTHS ?! YOU ARE ONLY STAMPED IN FOR 6 MONTHS MAXIMUM. AND EVEN THEN YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO STAY UP TO 6 MONTHS, UNLESS YOU SAID SO AT THE INTERVIEW. AmbLaraCrux: Hello.
Thanks to the person who started this thread. On the visa application form for B2, I filled 30days and I got 2 years. But now, am going for as long as 8months (I bought a return ticket from September 12 to April 27). Will that be an issue when am being asked how long?
Secondly, what's the minimum am expected to have as PTA for that long period. I know it's $4000 per quarter.
Thank you!!! |

1. Well the only way to improve your chances of getting a Canadian level to a high rate, is to be a citizen of a developed country e.g. BRICS, NATO, G7,G8 etc. There are people who have woken up this morning, planning on going to Canada next weekend and are certain of getting their visas, because they come from developed countries. 2. Look, its their country, they can decide not to give you a visa for what ever reason they feel like, in accordance to their laws. A visa is permission to knock on the door, its the CBP officer that has the final decision to let you in or not. A visa is not a right, but a privilege. 3. Countries know that making their visa applications hard will affect them negatively in the long run, so they have to balance their act. 4. It is a well-known fact that 50% of Nigerian applicants wish to illegally migrate, so no one buys the story that you wish to go on vacation (it does not make sense for an 'uncle', not even the father, to sponsor an adult , just apply for a PR its straight-forward and you can appeal the decision. 5. If you truly wish to go on vacation to Canada and you are refused, find somewhere else to go, its your money and their loss. |

No one actually knows what the chances are, or the possibility of getting a visa. You gauge your readiness for a US visa by doing an honest self-appraisal and doing some research. In my opinion, this is what a VO will probably look at: 1. You earn 190k, how long have you been saving for this trip? 2. Your wife may be pregnant, and this is all a cover to get a visa without going through the B2 visa, which requires documents. 3. All of your family will be in the US, you plan to stay throughout in a hotel...what now happens if you get stranded. So how do you plan to tackle these concerns the VO might have? skypeme: I promised my wife a trip out of the country for our wedding annivassary in December we also plan to spend our Xmas and new year there Chicago, Florida or X x x is our best choice , we av a daughter age 2yrs and we plan to go for the trip together, please what is the possibility of securing a visa for the 3 of us ? My salary is 190kpm I av enough money for the trip and we plan to stay in hotel thru out since we do not av anyone in the US |

1. That's a mistake that's hard to believe, a mistake in your birthday?Did you use an agent to fill your first application? 2. Applying with family members, will not increase your chances, your mum and sister may get a visa but you may be rejected - you are all going to judged on personal merits, from experience, elderly folks are more likely to get a visa. 3. How did your brother enter the US? tertwilson: Good morning, i have applied for Us student visas 2003 with mistake in my dob 1982 and i was denied , my dob is 1987 i want to reapply to the us embassy with my mother and sister for my brother wedding what are my chances ? |
