That Rooney/Mata argument no be for here o, Mata has proven to be better than Rooney in terms of control and passes infact I'm always rest assured whenever a ball either long or short is coming towards Mata, that apart Mata doesn't play the make eno spoil for my hand football. well they have 1-5 chords, 1-3.. There are hardly sites that do that.. Knowing song chords are one of the secrets of being a good musician.. So u lld nt likely see stuff like that on the net.. If u do, they ll prolly have price tags..the best way is to develop ur ears.. And that is by having the sound of notes stored in ur head e.g do di re mo mi fa fi etc, so that even if u dont know the full chord played, you would at least know that u heard a particular note and u can then use try and error to figure out the rest (that is playing any note u think is the note u heard and see if it matches with the note in the song)

... and then you add the unnecessary necessary extensions, alterations, suspensions blah blah blah right? I'll start scoring this January sha

you can but it depends on the kinda chrch ure in.. Some churches would want u to play the hymn as it was originally composed, and I don't understand what u mean by "di-ad"

Di-ad = two key chord, just illustrate how you play it so that I can develop my own ideas and styles, l'm sure going to download all the midi on cyberhmnal.

nooo its supposed to be the other way round.. Normally hymns have a progression they were composed on.. If u have the skill of re-harmoniation u can freshen it up, but u have to know the original progression on which the song was composed.. Checkk errr i think its cyberhymnal.org they have the original hymns in midi files.. If u have an app called midi sheet music u can load the midi file there and it will print out the hymn as a score in jpg format

But what about the rules? Like playing a fat di-ad chord only on the bass and so on, tell me about them plss?

Hi dramadiddy, pls how do you play your hymns? I play mine by playing the keys on my right and supporting it with the corresponding 1,4 & 5 chord on the bass but someone who seems to be professional has a problem with it, he says that's for amateurs and there is a rule guiding the playing of hymns.

Pls tell me if there's really an hymnal rule and how you play yours(hymns) as a professional?


PS: I'm not talking about classical music here o.

Well, you're not alone because F Major used to be my favourite but now I have not a favourite key, it's still my convenient key though.

Make sure to play those practically and try to familiarise them with your hands and we'll move to the next one when you're through like I said.

It's really nice to meet fellow keyboardist here. I started playing the piano a few moments ago. I developed interest in it due to the embarrassing absences occasioned by our only keyboardist.

Well, it hasn't really being that easy. I have started playing in my church, albeit only during worship. Even then, my playing is plain too chordy. I need to add some embellishments to it.

That's exactly why I'm here.

What do you mean by something missing within a chord?

The only thing that could be missing within a chord in most cases is a chord, ironic? but in some cases it's a tone as in, a key.

You play a dominant7 buy adding a flattened 7th to your major triad, you play a major7 by adding a 7th to your major triad and you play a minor7 by adding a 7th to your minor triad.

An example in the key of C:

C E G which is the major triad + Bb, the flattened 7th = C dominant 7.

C E G + B, the seven = C Major 7.

C Eb G + Bb = C minor 7.
