all the names you mentioned have had long lay offs due to niggling injuries. besides, even though we can agree that the footie was beautiful then, we were conceding far too many chances & that was what convinced LVG that we don't control games enough.

so he switched to a formation that gives us control throughout the entire 90 & not the one where we play extremely good for 60 mins & become shytë in the last 30. 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 is a possession formation but unfortunately, we don't create enough with the heap of possession we have.


too many passengers in the team - they are too afraid to take risks so they pass it sideways & backwards for the fear of losing the ball. my problem isn't the formation, my problem is with the players who can't pass & move into space to receive the pass.

Marcos Rojo was really excellent today. The guy played really well.

As in, the guy's got good clearance and nice tackling sense unlike poor Jumps and basket.

We seriously need someone that can penetrate from the midfield as in a very good AM, from the current squad I think Mata, Herrera and Di Maria fits in but I rather have a Di Maria in the wing.

rooney lost us the game.
i have never seen any player so useless in a red shirt. mata offered options for valencia all night, rooney didn't do the same on shaw's side and he left shaw too exposed whenever southampton bombed forward.

we have been told here rooney would do a better job than RVP if played as a striker. last night revealed rooney is useless as a striker. it was mata that was playing as a striker, getting into the box and making runs behind the southampton defence, rooney was nowhere to be found. the attacking play collapsed when RVP got subbed. his brilliant hold up play was highly missed.

rooney has no football intelligence to wait for the ball. he goes searching for it & when we break and put the ball in the box, rooney is not there to connect the crosses. he's lost the striker instinct and he's the reason players like falcao & di maria can't really get going. di maria gets played out of position & falcao can't even get into the line up.

3-5-2 isn't the problem, rooney is the problem!

You are right, 3-5-2 is not our problem and Rooney is better off in the midfield just imagine if he was available for those excellent crosses. Mata on the other hand did great but he was not clinical in front of goal.
