Benin – The Canadian Government is satisfied with the level of Nigeria’s democratic governance and will spend $5 million in helping to conduct the 2015 general elections, an official has said.

The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Chris Cooter, disclosed this at an interactive session with the media and civil society groups on Sunday in Benin.

Cooter said the Canadian government was impressed with INEC’s conduct of the 2011 general elections and other subsequent elections in some states of the federation.

“We hope it will get better in 2015, and we have dedicated about $5 million dollars to that project.

“We will be working with Prof. Attahiru Jega and INEC very closely to promote democracy in Nigeria,’’ he said.

The High Commissioner acknowledged that since his arrival in the country three years ago “Canada has seen great improvement in governance in your country.

“It does not mean we have to have a revolution. But it just means that there has to be a little more of transparency in governance and a bit more of good governance to make a difference in most peoples’ lives.

“It is never a straight path. But a path that requires lots of people working together. But I am confident that Nigeria will make lots of progress because we have had a great year with Nigeria.’’

The ambassador however urged for a vibrant presence of civil society groups as “a guarantor of good governance.

“I think you are getting it right now. I have travelled to 29 of the 36 states and we can see the improved difference in governance’’.

Cooter said his country was building a foundation that would work with Nigeria “in a way that has never been done before.

“It is brand new. We are going to stand together and will also share our challenges together’’.

Earlier, the Executive Director of Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), Rev. David Ugolor, had commended Cooter and his government’s interest in the democratic growth of Nigeria.

Ugolor appealed to Canada to sustain its efforts of supporting civil society groups and other stakeholders in their quest to promote good democratic governance in Nigeria.(NAN)

Those who knew Michael Adebolajo recall his typical London childhood, before his student days saw persue the path to jihad.

The mother of one of the suspects in the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby moved her family out of London in an attempt to remove him from the influence of a gang.

But Michael Adebolajo returned to the capital to go to university and it was while he was a student that he appears to have set foot on the path that took him from being a schoolboy to an alleged extremist intent on jihad. His tutor, it is claimed, was Omar Bakri Mohammed, leader of the now banned al-Muhajiroun.

"He was on our ideological wavelength," said Anjem Choudary, a senior figure in the organisation. Adebolajo, whose family are Christians, sealed his conversion to Islam by taking the name Mujaahid – meaning one who engages in jihad.

The 28-year-old was a regular at the al-Muhajiroun stall outside the HSBC branch on Woolwich high street, handing out extremist literature, and one witness said he was recently seen outside Plumstead community centre encouraging an audience to go to Syria to fight.

For the last eight years his activities have been such that he featured in several counter-terrorist investigations, always as a peripheral figure and not the central subject of the inquiry. Sources said there was nothing in his activities which indicated that he might carry out such an attack.

"You would see them there every week," Atma Singh, a Sikh leader said, speaking on Thursday outside Woolwich's neo-classical Victorian town hall. "They were there over a period of several years, handing out radical literature. They were about eight to 10 of them.

"They stopped coming at some point but I was quite annoyed that they were able to do this for so long. Nobody tried to shut the stall down."

Six addresses were searched yesterday, three in south-east London, one in east London, one in north London and one in Lincolnshire. The impact of the investigation on Adebolajo's family was seen in searches at London addresses where relatives lived and 150 miles away in Saxilby, Lincolnshire, at the semi-detached modern home where his mother, Tina, had moved her family in an attempt to remove her son from bad influences.

Adebolajo himself was being held under armed guard in hospital, where counter-terrorist police were waiting to interview him over the hacking to death of 25-year-old Rigby.

The second suspect – believed to be a 22-year-old British man – was being held in a different hospital, also under armed guard. One of the addresses searched in south-east London was believed to be his home; neighbours said they had recognised the man as the suspect, that he lived with his mother and that he disappeared for a period and when he returned had converted to Islam and appeared more "distant". It is not known whether the second suspect was linked to al-Muhajiroun – Choudary said he did not know him.

Adebolajo attended meetings and demonstrations run by al-Muhajiroun for at least five years, from around 2005 to 2011, where he heard an interpretation of Islam preached by Bakri Mohammed, which many Muslims would consider extreme. Bakri Mohammed told the Guardian that he had known Adebolajo, who had attended many meetings. These included al-Muhajiroun events at community centres and a mosque in the Woolwich area.

Bakri Mohammed, now banned from Britain, said as a new convert Adebolajo received special attention: "In 2004 Muslims were feeling a lot of pressures from new laws and from Iraq."

Adebolajo asked the group when violence may be justified. "He asked these type of questions, like many others," said Bakri Mohammed: "He was asking what to do, he was most likely affected by the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan." Adebolajo appears to have later attended events organised by successor groups to al-Muhajiroun until around 2011.

These interests contrast with the accounts of the normal boy that Adebolajo was described as in his earlier life. Born in Lambeth on 10 December 1984 to a family of Nigerian heritage, he grew up in Romford, played football and was said to be a joker within a large group of friends.

His family lived in Eastern Avenue in the town and attended the local church. He has a sister, Blessing, and a brother, Jeremiah.

Both boys went to Marshalls Park school in Romford until at 16 Michael moved to Havering sixth form college. He later attended Greenwich University, where he lived in student accommodation in 2004 and 2005.

Friends at Marshalls Park school talked of how he was an ordinary student until he became involved with a local gang and began "jacking" phones and carrying a knife, they said.

Louise, 26 from Romford, said she knew Adebolajo and Jeremiah from Marshalls Park, where Michael was known as "Naan" and his brother "Jel".

"Naan was two years older than us … Jel was a nice boy. Quite quiet," she said. "We were all really close because there was quite a few who used to hang around together."

She said Jeremiah was "obsessed with the Harry Potter books". She described Michael as clever, popular and extremely funny. "He was a down-to-earth, nice guy, there was nothing out of the ordinary, nothing … [that would make you] have thought, obviously this would have happened," she said.

Louise, who did not want to give her full name, said Adebolajo's mother was strict and dressed in traditional West African clothes to go to church most Sundays. "They were strong on their beliefs."

Louise said that as he headed into his final years at Marshalls Park and then Havering sixth form, Adebolajo became involved with a criminal gang.

"As he got older he started mixing with other people from outside [the school].

"We used to go around the house and there used to be 20 black guys and they would walk around the streets … they were stealing people's phones and that and they had knives."

She said Adebolajo would carry a knife, not just for protection but as part of his criminal activities.

It was then that his parents decided to get the boys out of Romford. "His mum and dad clocked on to that and they moved him away.

"No one has spoke to them since they moved because his mum wanted to get them away from everyone."

Other friends from Marshalls Park conversed on social media to express their shock that Adebolajo was at the centre of a counter-terrorist investigation.

"We left year 2001," one said. "And he was always a good guy at school, do anything for anyone ."

Another added: "They used to live down the eastern avenue two minutes from marshals, they had a garage on the side of the house and Jel had a little telly an that in there and loads of people uses to go round there, from what I remember they were nice boys."

A former neighbour of the family remembered them as friendly and welcoming churchgoers.

The man, who asked not to be named, said his wife used to give Adebolajo's mother – whom he remembered as working for social services – a lift to church. "They were very pleasant, a very ordinary normal family," he said.

However Graham Silverton, 63, who has lived in the street for 25 years, said that when Adebolajo was a teenager he was unruly and would get into trouble. He claimed one of the neighbours' children, a teenage girl, had once gone to the Adebolajos' door to retrieve a ball kicked into their garden and was insulted and punched by Michael.

Kemi Ibrahim-Adeoti, 45, described Adebolajo as a typical teenager growing up. She said: "Michael was older than my son, I knew him from when he was about 17. He used to come around and play with my son and I didn't have any problems with him coming around.

"Michael was just a typical teenager, you know, he would rebel against his parents once or twice that I know of."

In 2004 Michael's mother, Tina, moved her son away to Lincoln but he later returned to the capital, where he became a student at Greenwich University.

Addresses in Greenwich where he lived as a student were searched by counter terrorist police on Thursday, as was the home where Adebolajo's sister lived in Romford.

Another address in Greenwich – thought to be that of the second suspect – was also sealed off and searched early on Thursday. The small flat is on the fourth floor of a block, Macey House, about four miles from the site of Wednesday's attack . It is registered as the home of a 22-year-old British man, also of Nigerian descent, who lived in the property with his mother.

Neighbours at the scene said he lived there with his mother and went to a local college – although this has not been confirmed by police.

One neighbour, Madeleine Edwards, said the man at the flat had been involved in gangs when he was younger. She said he had left the property for about a year after giving evidence in a murder trial.

"His mother said he had to disappear," said Edwards.

When he came back Edwards had converted to Islam, she said, and had become "distant".

"He could see my disdain at the direction he had gone in," she said.

Another neighbour, Jonathan Ackworth, 42, said: "I was so shocked when I saw his picture on the television … I used to see him coming and going and would say hello – he seemed perfectly pleasant."

Two uniformed officers stood guard outside the top-floor flat as plainclothes officers and forensics detectives went in and out of the property yesterday.

Many neighbours in the block – which sits close to the banks of the Thames – were visibly shaken. One said she did not want to talk because she feared reprisals from rightwing groups.

"This is a good block and people can't quite believe this has happened right on our doorstep – a lot of the neighbours are in tears today," said Ackworth.

One woman, who did not want to be named, said officers had knocked on the door and asked if they could use her flat to watch the property, which was raided several hours later.

NIAMEY, Niger (AP) - Attackers in Niger detonated two car bombs on Thursday, one in the city of Agadez where a military barracks was targeted and one in Arlit where a French company operates a uranium mine, injuring more than a dozen people.

Paris-based Areva said in a statement that 13 employees were hurt in the attack in Arlit, in the northern part of Niger where armed Islamic extremists have carried out attacks.

Witnesses said the vehicle carrying the explosives in Agadez blew up in front of a military barracks.

"We heard a strong detonation that woke the whole neighborhood, it was so powerful," said Abdoulaye Harouna, a resident of Agadez. "The whole town is now surrounded by soldiers looking for the attackers."

In 2010, an al-Qaida offshoot kidnapped seven foreigners, including five French nationals, from a residential compound near Arlit.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for Thursday's attack, but because Niger shares a border with the troubled nation of Mali, whose north was occupied for nearly a year by a trio of al-Qaida-linked groups, residents and government officials assume that the attackers are Islamic extremists, possibly from the Movement of Oneness and Jihad in West Africa which has led repeated suicide attacks in Mali. The militants vowed to hit any country that helped France, which launched a military offensive in Mali on Jan. 11 to flush out the jihadists.

Niger, like most of Mali's neighbors, has sent battalions of soldiers to try to stabilize Mali. If the attack was carried out by one of the Mali-based groups, it would be the single largest attack that they have carried out both in terms of casualties and due to the simultaneous nature of the explosions. In recent weeks they attempted to carry out a similar style of assault, with suicide bombers detonating themselves in the Malian towns of Gossi and Menaka, and killing only themselves.

Army Nabs 9 Fulani ‘mercenaries’ Over Benue Bloodbath

MAKURDI—After weeks of bloody conflict between Fulani herdsmen and Benue farmers, nine of the suspected Fulani mercenaries have been arrested and arraigned before a Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court.

The suspects, who were apprehended at Gbajimba in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State by officers of the Special Forces Squad of the 72 Battalion, Makurdi, were arraigned yesterday and charged with culpable homicide and causing mischief by fire.

Parading the suspects before the court, Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Patrick Sunday, told the court that the accused persons were arrested in Gbajimba on May 6 by the military personnel, who handed them over to the police.

According to him, the army officers told the police that they received reports that some Fulani mercenaries had attacked some villagers in Guma council, killing and burning the houses of their victims.

He explained that following the report, the army officers rushed to the area where they arrested the accused and also recovered three locally-made pistols and four live ammunition in their possession.

The army officers, the prosecutor further stated discovered four yet-to-be identified corpses of their victims at the scene of the attack.

At the hearing, the accused persons told the court that they came to Benue State from neighbouring Bassa in Nasarawa State.

However, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction, while Police prosecutor asked for an adjournment of the case pending the completion of Police investigations into the matter.

In her ruling, presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Cecilia Tsumba, ordered that the accused be remanded at the Makurdi prison and adjourned the case to the June 11 June for further mention.

IT seems residents and visitors to Lagos State, will have to wait a little longer for the commencement of the multi million naira contract for the installation of Close Circuit Televisions, CCTVs, in the state aimed at addressing perennial security and traffic challenges.

The electronic devices with capacity to capture and register images and events metres away, also aid effective surveillance of the environment in events of criminal and emergency activities such as motor accidents, burglaries, robberies, car thefts, fire outbreaks, civil disturbances, collapsed buildings, suspicious movements and kidnaps, which are tracked and processed for quick response by those concerned.

The state government, about three years ago announced plans to install CCTV cameras across the metropolis but till date the project is yet to fully commence.

CCTV launch: In 2009, the state government launched a pilot phase of CCTV only in three locations in the state. They were on Falomo Bridge, Third Mainland Bridge and Eko Bridge.

Effectiveness of concept
The project, which was by all standards successful, was to check the effectiveness of the concept. Before then, the Federal Government had intimated the state government of its intention to control the installation and running of the project with Abuja and Lagos, selected for the first phase.

The Federal Government under its National Public Security System Programme, planned to install a thousand cameras in Lagos for a start but 906 were effectively installed. The devices were located on major roads, which include: Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Amuwo-Festac Link Road, Apapa, Festac Town, Ikeja, Victoria Island, among other strategic areas.

Challenges: Some of the challenges confronting the project, which is being solely financed by FG, it was gathered, apart from the finance, were sites for permanent location, vandalisation as well as non availability of accurate data-bank of citizenry and biometrics. It was learnt that all the cameras installed on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway had been removed because of the ongoing road expansion along the axis.

Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Adebiyi Mabadeje, while reacting to the development, expressed confidence that the project would soon see the light of the day. He explained: “FG approached the state government that it was installing  the CCTV in Lagos and we later said the state government will not have to spend tax payers’ money on what the FG has concluded to do in the state.

The FG said that it would roll out a thousand cameras in  the state for a start. They have done 906. This represents the number that the state government has physically seen. And we have been working with the central government on this. “The cameras will not be everywhere now but we know that the intention of the central government is to deploy it to all the nooks and crannies of the state later. It will eventually reach other remote areas of the state.

“The project started with urban areas. Contrary to wide spread comments that the project was moribund, the project has not been abandoned. It is in phases. The FG has not directed the state government to stay action. All they said was that they needed access to the right of way in the state, for the installation of the CCTV cameras. Right now, the project is on. We have seen the pictures they generate. It is not just a CCTV camera, it also act as a communication project that also provide voice and video for the security agencies in the state.”

TO provide a credible opposition you need a political party whose leaders have been tested and trusted and who have provided credible leadership that transcends ethnic or geographical demarcations and have been found to be above board in their individual and official dealings within and outside government.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory was no doubt a credible opposition. He was a strategist and a great thinker who provided Nigerians with statistical and logical arguments as to the position of government and what they were up to. He, it was that exposed the weak economic policies of the Shagari era which he prophesised that unless an urgent action is taken, there shall be total socio-economic downturn. Accordingly, we witnessed the coming into force of the Economic Stabilisation Act otherwise known as austerity measure.

Recently, the tempo of opposition frenzy has risen to another level with the nose-diving of their individual capacities to govern Nigeria in 2015 courtesy of the merger of mixed up parties seemingly moving forward. Typical of the loudness of empty political barrels, all we have  heard from our ambitious aspirants to national power is a cacophony of criticisms of the incumbent ruling party, the  PDP and a damning silence as to their own credible credentials for pointing accusing fingers. It is commonsense that it takes more than a capacity to unleash criticisms to demonstrate ability to succeed in any human endeavour, so as far as Nigerians are concerned, the opposition zealots are non-starters.

There is no gainsaying that Nigeria is not a banana republic that can be governed with the ease monkeys devour bananas. Even the monkeys demonstrate several uncanny skills in navigating the bush and staying alive to munch their favourite fruit rather than gathering in isolated groups to groan about other consumers of bananas! Nigeria is still a developing country treading the difficult and unpredictable path that all great  nations must go through as part of the process of nationhood. Governing Nigeria is not a tea party!

The frivolous manner in which opposition leaders respond to the inevitable vicissitudes of political leadership as we are all witnessing in today’s Nigeria indicates that their obsession with capturing power is completely blind and insensitive to its inherent challenging responsibilities. As far as our evidently juvenile and exuberant opposition  mandarins are concerned, all it takes to “fix” Nigeria is for its desperate leaders to get into Aso Villa but nothing could be further from the truth.

Even more condemnable is the brazen lack of patriotism that motivates opposition politicians as they seek to maliciously discredit the incumbent Goodluck Jonathan Administration by going to the extent of engaging in covert and overt acts of sabotage capable of threatening not just their perceived political rival but indeed the entire nation. This can be deduced from their consistent refusal to contribute actively and responsibly to the quest for lasting solutions to the nagging national problems that confront government while zealously capitalising on real and imaginary challenges.

An objective analysis of these undesirable tendencies of the ambitious opposition however will convincingly prove that such rascality is the direct result of the glaring incapacity and unsuitability of the ringleaders. For example, Tinubu is today prancing around the stage in the ill-fitting guise of a national leader whereas in Lagos State where he once governed he is regarded as a sharp contrast of incompetence and imprudence vis-a-vis’ the incumbent governor of the state. In fact, the political arena in the state is buzzing with the open secret of Tinubu’s envious ego casting ominous shadows on the greater successes of his supposedly anointed successor!

General Buhari is another opposition character who typifies the sheer unsuitability and incapacity of the political clique blindly seeking to grab power in Nigeria. This is a retired general whose record of draconian dictatorship and pathological hatred for politics is unmatched in Nigeria’s political history. Yet, out of sheer inordinate ambition after getting booted out of power by his smarter collaborators, plunged head on into politics of seeking the Presidency at the first opportunity! No wonder he is also emerging unopposed as the worst president Nigeria will never have, according to those who have observed him closely in his here-today-gone-tomorrow brand of barrack politics.

It is logical to go further and conclude that any group of Nigerians who continue rallying round such politically peculiar political prospectors have been fatally inflicted by their maladies such that they are unable to see, think or act with the expected intelligence and circumspection that has convinced the majority of Nigerians to steer clear of failed politicians. This is also highlighted by the peculiarities of the hired crowds who are bussed to their rowdy and risky rallies where crude weapons and menacing slogans take the place of meaningful lectures and voter’s education.

But we must live with these liabilities in the name of democracy whereby the good, the bad, and the ugly are said to be equal in exercising civic rights, sadly including the right to be voted for. To ward off the unspeakable implications of a government of misfits descending on our besieged nation, we must fervently pray that the irreconcilable differences and conflicting ambitions of the opposition leaders continue to render their political agenda the huge joke that it has been well beyond 2015. Amen!

ASABA — POLICE in Delta State have arrested and detained four police officers, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sergeant and Corporal, for allegedly aiding the escape of a kidnap kingpin from police cell in Asaba, weekend.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, confirmed the detention of the police officers when contacted by Vanguard, yesterday.

This came as the Joint Task Force, JTF, in Sapele, arrested four suspected kidnappers and razed the shrine of a native doctor, who prepared charm for the gang.

Investigations showed that soon after he escaped, the kidnap kingpin from the South-East region called the complainant in the case to inform him that he had paid his way out of police cell and he should get ready for him.

Our source said: “The complainant and his family fled their location to an unknown place, same night the escapee kidnap suspect called him. You can imagine what some greedy police officers have caused the man and his family.”

Commissioner Aduba in a terse SMS said: “Detention and investigation ordered, appropriate sanction will be applied.”

He later told Vanguard on phone: “The stand of the Inspector General of Police is very clear: any police officer involved in any criminal matter is on his own. The matter is being investigated. You know me, I do not condone nonsense and we will remain focussed in our fight against criminals in the state.”

A police officer, who spoke to Vanguard said: “What happened is a shame. Police officers collected money from the kidnapper, brought by members of his gang and they brought him out. A person who was on handcuffs, they unchained him and one of them claimed he was going to cut his hair or do something upstairs.

“I even heard that they gave him police uniform to wear and he walked out of the police station in Asaba and they are there telling cock and bull stories that they do not know he was a kidnapper. This is not the first time this kind of thing is happening, but I know the Commissioner will not spare anybody. That is their own cup of tea.

JTF arrests 4 suspected kidnappers

The four suspected kidnappers were nabbed by the JTF in conjunction with the Delta Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, Warri, after the rescue of Mr. Enye Edema, father of the Head of Department, Security, Delta State Oil Minerals Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Mr S. Edema, a lawyer, who was abducted about five days ago.

Our source said: “One of them, Great, was arrested between Adeje and Oviri Court, Sunday morning, when he came to pick up N500,000 ransom placed on a culvert, not knowing that security agents had laid siege to the place.

“He came out of hiding to pick the ransom and was promptly arrested. He confessed that Precious drove the vehicle the day Pa Edema was kidnapped which led to the driver’s arrest.

“The leader of the gang, Marcus, was also arrested in Sapele with the assistance of a vigilance group.

“However, two other members of the gang, Lawrence and Peace are at large, while the shrine of the native doctor, who they took Pa Edema to was razed.

“Three motorcycles were reportedly used by the kidnappers in the operation,” he added

The imposition of the curfew in the Borno State capital was said to pave the way for the troops deployed to the state to embark on a house- to- house search, as well as face insurgents still residing within the metropolis and Jere council area.

A  press release  by the JTF spokesman, Musa, said, “In order to sustain the ongoing Special Operations in the face of recent Boko Haram attacks in some areas within Maiduguri metropolis, the JTF is imposing 24hours curfew with effect from today (Saturday), 18 May, 2013”..

He stated that the areas/wards include Gamboru-Customs Area, Mari Kuwait Area of University of Maiduguri, Bakin Kogi Area and Kasuwan Shanu-Kofar Biyu Area.

Other areas under the 24hours curfew are Rawan Zafi-Customs Area, 202 Housing Estate, Bama Road, 303 Housing Estate Bama Road, Dakiwa Lowcost Housing Estate.

Also affected are Simari-Zannari-Kwanan Yobe Area, 505 Abba Gana Terab Housing Estate, Muna Garage Road, Chad Basin Muna Garage Road, Baga Road Federal Lowcost Area, Bolori, Jajeri and Umamari Area.

The people affected should remain strong it's the price they have to pay to be free From this miscreants may GOd be with the innocents.

The All Progressive Grand Alliance has said the governors of the three states where a state of emergency was imposed by President Goodluck Jonathan should be held culpable for the insecurity problems in their states.

The party said the governors of these states, which are Borno (Kashim Shettima), Yobe (Ibrahim Geidam) and Adamawa (Murtala Nyako), should therefore be held responsible for the breakdown of law and order in their respective states.

Its national chairman, Victor Umeh, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Friday, called on the President not to hesitate to introduce harsher measures to stem the ugly trend of insecurity in the northern part of the country if the situation persisted.

He said, "APGA commends and supports the President for declaring a state of emergency in the most affected states of the country, namely Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

"The President should not hesitate to introduce harsher measures to stem this ugly trend should the situation persist."

Kaduna – The Nigerian Army on Friday confirmed that three soldiers were killed in an attack by gunmen in Daura, Katsina State.

Maj.-Gen. Garba Wahab, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, who disclosed this to newsmen in Kaduna, said several of the attackers were also killed.

He said that the army and other security personnel had cordoned off three areas in the city and were conducting a house-to-house search “to fish out some of the wounded gunmen who forced their way into peoples’ homes’’’.

He also said that the army was coordinating with security agencies in Niger Republic as “80 to 90 per cent of these gun men are not Nigerians’’.

Wahab said the gunmen had attacked four banks and stole some money, adding that a vehicle loaded with the stolen cash was recovered, in addition to four AK-47 rifles.

He said that the operation to fish out the culprits was ongoing, and advised residents of Daura and the neighbouring local government areas of Baure, Sandamu, Mashi, and Dutsi to cooperate with security agents by reporting suspicious movements around them.

“What happened this morning is similar to what happened in Bama where the gunmen burnt prison and police stations to divert attention,’’ he said.

Wahab appealed to journalists to support security agencies in the fight against terror, saying it was the collective responsibility of all well-meaning Nigerians to work for the peace and stability of the nation.

“Let us stop patronising criminality. Whether they are terrorists or armed bandits, the truth is that they are against the Nigerian state, and that is the bottom line’,’’ he added. (NAN)
