This is something I'm aware of too. There are reduction in rates associated with trading FI on the secondary (and tertiary) markets (reason I said you're stuck till maturity). On it being more liquid than NGX I can't confirm or refute... emmanuelewumi: There is a very highly liquid secondary market for fixed income assets where transactions running to hundreds of billions of naira are done daily. It is far more liquid than NGX. |

QED! yMcy56: @Chillykelly8 I understand wetin I dey talk o, not expecting anyone to agree with me as per say I be amateur
See the scenario from debee and the response from Agba....... My response to Agba was a view from another angle because I saw his response as one sided.
** Take note of "The total annual dividend from both portfolio as less than 4M" from Debee
If you say the 50M could become 30 in Equity, isn't there a possibility of it becoming 80 instead too?? * I wasn against diversification here, but saying if he's in profit due to picking those stocks cheaper, he could lock in his profit and move it to fix income asset. ** Truth is: Equity has higher chances of generating better returns than fixed assets ** |

I want to put this out there: do not use all your resources to purchase fixed instruments. I am currently speaking from experience. The FI might give guaranteed returns but the equity market could give exponential returns. One thing that should be a constant factor is a healthy RISK APPETITE and PATIENCE. If you commit to FI, you're stuck till maturity... |

That's correct ExcessKJ: If I get your point correctly, do you mean that price of stock on NSE don't appreciate or depreciate until at least one single deal among all deal for the day traded 100,000 unit of that particular stock? |

100%. It will shock you to know that many wealthy Nigerians (home or abroad) do not do stocks but prefer fixed instruments... BabsO2: The discussion is not about wrong or right. But about market opportunities and options.
Nigeria has a lot of untapped comparative advantages waiting to be tapped. Nigeria is an emerging market. If the anticipated growth scenario of unleashing growth occurs Nigeria should be earning far more forex than it currently earns with an unleashed GDP. In this scenario the stock market will grow exponentially or at least massively and the exchange rate will be stabilized like it happened for South Korea decades ago. |

Let me put it in layman's terms. On the 5th of July, they will mark attendance. If you are a shareholder at close of business, you will be marked present and paid dividend. I believe your dividend will be credited to your account (provided you have completed the e-dividend registration). Send a mail to your brokers to confirm... emmaodet: I have shares with them. What does it mean register closes by 5th July bro? And will my dividends be credited to my account directly through my investment one account? Or there is a process of clearing it |

Excellent piece for all especially newbies... Mankind2024: INVESTMENT TIPS FOR NSEMPA INVESTORS (NOT TRADERS) Q2 (2024) 1. There is no such thing as a genuine get-rich-quick investment. The saying, “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is” rings more true for investing than any other financial transaction. Promises of large returns are seldom true. The best investment is a safe, steady, long-term one, where you let your money work for you over the longer term...NOW POSSIBLE IN OUR DEAREST NGX
2.If you have your eye on something you want, wait five days before you buy it. This removes the risk of buying on impulse and allows for rational spending. I WAS A VICTIM OF THIS AT THE JUST CONCLUDED TRANSCORP POWER LISTING BY INTRODUCTION, I BOUGHT 21000 UNITS AT AVERAGE COST OF N370. WITH CASH AT HAND, I COULD HAVE GOTTEN IT AT AVERAGE COST OF N360 IF I HAD WAITED 5 DAYS POST LISTING.
3. Take the time to get to know financial and investment terms. Having an understanding of the basic concepts allows you to more easily grasp the advice provided on NSEMPA thread You can also ask pertinent questions to make more informed decisions.
4.There is no one-size-fits-all investment approach: Each person is an individual and should follow a customised investment plan that takes into account personal economic needs. 5. At the very least, start investing as soon as you can, even if it is just a small amount each month. You can grow this amount when your finances allow. Starting today is better than starting tomorrow. THIS WORK FOR ME. I LEARNT TO SEIZE THE DAY. I DO NOT TIME THE MARKET. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THE FUNDAMENTAL. I AVERAGE UP OR DOWN TILL I ATTAIN EQUILIBRIUM WHERE I'M COMFORTABLE TO DECIDE, BOOK PROFIT OR BUY MORE. I HAVE 600,000 UNITS OF ACCESS AT AVERAGE COST PRICE OF N12.00. I FEEL COMFORTABLE TO BUY MORE AT CURRENT PRICE, THE GOAL IS 1M UNIT.
