Electoral violence is different from the kidnapping business. A lot of kidnapping cases are not reported. In Rivers state the kidnapping on the Emuoha road has been going on since 3 plus years now and Wike stepped up to tackle it, doesn’t have any connection with elections. Kidnappings on Benin-ore, Ibadan-Abuja route, kaduna-Abuja route, Enugu-Abuja-Lagos routes, has more to do with the approach of our security agencies than elections

Whichever way you look at it, "crime na crime" and they're always intertwined. You're looking at a bigger picture in terms of electoral violence while I narrow it down.Even the local cultism you mentioned in Rivers also have political correlation. Who made the cult lords over there with sophisticated arms? How were they able to get such expensive arms? Their political masters quickly abandon them. That is why they struggle to survive via social vices like kidnapping. A good example is hamisu wadume who alleged that APC gave him 13 million naira, the governor gave him 6 million yet just after the election he ripped 120 million from a single kidnap victim. Is wadume not a political thug? Is he not also a kidnapper? Does his crime not portend a fraction of post election violence? Does he not have relationship big powers in the state?

Crime are intertwined like I mentioned earlier and it is multi facet. Go and look into police report after electoral seasons, there's always upsurge of crimes all over the country and these make up small fragments of electoral violence

I disagree with you cos loan apps don't give out huge loan volumes like banks. They'll start giving you 5k, 15k, 20k as first time customers and will circle around that amount even if u pay and come back again and again thus milking your pocket but with your salary account in a bank be sure of getting 100-500k as a first timer and even millions with long time repayment schedule running into yrs

The Ondo State Police Command, on Wednesday, said that it had arrested one Mrs. Babalola, for her alleged involvement in the death of her daughter, Testimony, in Akure.

Testimony was allegedly beaten to death by her parents last week Wednesday for allegedly possessing evil spirits .

Babalola allegedly rushed the daughter, who was unconscious as a result of severe beating, to the Ondo State University Teaching Hospital, Akure, where it was confirmed by a doctor that the four-year-old girl had died before reaching the hospital.

After the girl had been confirmed dead by the doctor, it was gathered that Babalola fled the hospital with the lifeless body to an unknown destination.

Since then, the police command had begun a search for the parents of the deceased.

A source confirmed that the little girl used to be tortured by her father, Mr. Felix Babalola, after he was told that she was possessed by evil spirits by a church.

Since the incident happened, the police had been making unsuccessful efforts to arrest the couple.

On Saturday last week, it was learnt that the residents of Ikare Akoko Community allegedly prevented the men of the command from arresting the couple.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph confirmed the arrest of Mrs. Babalola. He noted that the father of the deceased was still evading arrest.

He said, “We have arrested the wife on Monday, but we are yet to arrest the father but I can assure you that he would soon be arrested while our investigation was still ongoing on the matter. “

Go round ur vicinity and do a survey on women who own shops and you'll find out a lot of them have taken to borrowing cash from microfinance bank in the past 2 or 3 yrs for the first time ultimately due to the fact that a lot of their husbands who used to be giving extra cash to the Biz are outta work and so dependent on them thus making it difficult to manage Biz.

In my 3 decades on earth I've never witnessed or seen suicide cases from Ondo to ekiti to Delta to Benin, port Harcourt, kogi and lagos and all of a sudden 2015 the numbers keep increasing. It should amaze us. I only watch suicide scenes in American movies and boom it's in our doorstep. Fact is, there is a Summersault in our social-economic system. Families and immediate relations are no more glued like yrs back and these are resultant effects of bad governance.
