Is rape good?

If I came into your home and killed your wife and children and stole your money, then escaped to someplace and eventually died. What hope would you have of justice?

What basis is there for our justice systems if morality is relative to superior definition and power?
Isn't there a relatively greater good in raping the last and unwilling woman on earth so she can reproduce future generations?

Similarly self defence involves murder albeit justified because of a relatively greater good.

Are these beings capable of deciphering good and evil without God especially when they already know what's order and convenient to them?

Free jazz is not a difference. A Difference is generally considered to be the variance between two objects. In other words what common attribute do they lack.
I actually meant both as examples of the question and difficult it is to decide. Especially with the varying perspectives.

This is nonsense.

It is only because God exists, that in the midst of everything, there is a defined good and evil, and there is hope of ultimate justice. Do you want to have this argument again?

What do you think he means by 'everything'? Does 'everything' encompass good and evil? If so, what is good and evil
In what manner does God define good and evil, is it to his own convenience or to an objective standard independent from God?

Because we will apply the definition to violence.

If we hold that all existence and reality (the universe) as we know it was caused by an Intelligent Designer, then it will surely be impossible to show anything that would not have hallmarks of design about it. Anything at all. It will therefore be a strange question to demand of an advocate of intelligent design, that he produces a thing that is not designed. This would be a contradiction similar to asking a person who believes that shapes are made by men, to produce a square circle. It's both an impossible and unreasonable request which Iredia should not have taken up at all, rather than begin to refer to water.

By the way, I no longer know whether its apt to refer to God as an "Intelligent Designer." Intelligence is something of the material sphere, and whatever attributes the Divine may have may probably not be described as intelligence in the way that we use the word.
Yes it is a contradiction. Yet the Intelligent Design claim is unviable without the aid of comparison. Just the same way ID proponents point to man made robots or communication devices to compare with Nature. Their arguments are rooted in comparison.

I think Imaginative Designer is more apt

To be sincere, that is what we need at the moment. It seems these local coaches lack prerequisite to pick genuine players for very important matches. The memory of our last game against Egypt comes to mind. A good and experience coach should not leave important players out of such important game. It was really painful. Let's see how things go.
The so-called armchair strategist!

Your strategy and tactics does not go beyond playing important players in important matches! If football was that simple, you could be hired.
Christianity Etc › Re: Dealing With Misconceptions : Does God Literally Have A Throne ? Find Out Here by Kay17: 4:31pm On Apr 02, 2016
KingEbukasBlog:
We need to start having a clearer picture of who God truly is and how he reveals Himself to man

There are several references to the throne of God in the Bible. Jesus calls heaven “God’s throne” in Matthew 5:34, recalling God’s statement in Isaiah 66:1, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” Other references to God’s throne are found in 2 Chronicles 18:18; Psalm 11:4; Hebrews 8:1; 12:2; Revelation 1:4; 3:21; 4:2; and many other verses.

A throne is a special seat reserved for a monarch. When the Bible speaks of God’s “throne,” the emphasis is on God’s transcendence, dignity, and sovereign rule. The fact that His throne is in heaven further underscores the transcendent nature of God’s existence.

The throne of God need not be thought of as a literal throne. God the Father is incorporeal (John 4:24). Not having a physical body, God does not literally “sit.” References to a divine throne are akin to biblical allusions to God’s “hand” or “mouth” or “eyes”—they are anthropomorphisms, descriptions of God couched in human terms out of deference to our limited knowledge. God has to describe Himself in ways we can understand.

Isaiah sees the Lord “high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple” (Isaiah 6:1). At that time, the prophet was having an inspired vision. God’s throne (and His robe) are not to be taken as literal, physical objects. Rather, God was communicating to Isaiah the magnificence, splendor, and exaltation of His Being. Other descriptions of the throne of God are found in other prophetic visions, e.g., in those of Ezekiel and John.

God’s throne is a place of power and authority. In 2 Chronicles 18:18, the prophet Micaiah relates his vision of God’s throne room, in which spirit beings stand in attendance. Compare this to Job 1:6, where God demands answers from the angelic beings summoned there.

God’s throne is a place of majesty and honor. The Bible says that, when Jesus ascended to heaven, He “sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2). There is no higher place than heaven. God is the King of heaven, and Jesus holds the place of honor at God’s right hand.

God’s throne is a place of perfect justice. “He has prepared His throne for judgment” (Psalm 4:7; cf. 89:14). The final judgment, described in Revelation 21, is held before “a great white throne” (verse 11).

God’s throne is a place of sovereignty and holiness. “God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne” (Psalm 47:8; cf. 103:19). He does whatever He pleases, and all He does is good.

God’s throne is a place of praise. John’s vision of heaven includes a scene in which a “new song” is sung in praise to the One who occupies the throne (Revelation 14:3). Around the throne, the praise of God is surely “glorious” (Psalm 66:2).

God’s throne is a place of purity. Only the redeemed, those who have been granted the righteousness of Christ, will have the right to stand before His throne (Revelation 14:5).

God’s throne is a place of eternal life. God is the Source of life. In heaven, John sees “the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb” (Revelation 22:1).

God’s throne is a place of grace. Not only does the throne of God represent judgment for the unbeliever, but it also represents mercy and grace for His children. “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Inside the Jewish temple was the Ark of the Covenant, which was a “copy of the true” (Hebrews 9:24), and it had a “mercy seat” where God’s presence would appear (Leviticus 16:2, ESV).

One day, all creation will bow to the majesty of God’s throne (Philippians 2:9–11). The regal beings surrounding the throne of God will “lay their crowns before the throne and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power’” (Revelation 4:10–11).

Christianity Etc › Re: What Is Nature Exactly? by Kay17: 1:37pm On Apr 02, 2016
It could go both ways. Either with simplicity or complexity, that's why it's necessary for the Intelligent Design crowd to produce a non design for comparism.
Christianity Etc › Re: Dialectics Of Violence And Morality by Kay17(op): 1:32pm On Apr 02, 2016
This also applies to non theists. Violence in itself is neither evil nor good, it can be directed towards either an evil or good purpose. In most cases for ambivalent purposes. This lends people the desire to legitimize their actions.

In the case of theists, God is the authority, for some atheists and scientists it could be Truth or Reason. A purpose that makes legitimate any action. So with God all things are permitted, similarly with Truth all things are permitted!

Slavoj Zizek:

One of the great platitudes which are popular today when we are confronted with acts of violence is to refer to Theodore Dostoïevsky’s famous statement from The Brothers Karamazov: if there is no God then everything is permitted.

Well, the first problem with this statement of course is that Dostoïevsky never made it. The first one who used this phrase that was allegedly made by Dostoïevsky was Jean-Paul Sartre in 43, but the main point is that this statement is simply wrong.

Even a brief look at our predicament today clearly tells us this. It is precisely if there is God, that everything is permitted to those who not only believe in God but who perceive themselves as instruments, direct instruments of the divine will.

But this doesn't fly as one only needs to identify the hallmarks of design to know if a thing is designed. Information and functional complexity being 2 hallmarks of design.
How is it possible to know that the particulars information and functional complexity are hallmarks when there is lack of non designs whose lack of information and functional complexity would have clearly demonstrated the efficacy of your argument!

At the end of the day, we both have to realize that some of these functional complexity is organized by Nature and probably God is the ultimate conductor, but you must concede that Nature is indeed or at least an agent of the ultimate conductor.

True. The effort required to make some things surpasses other things. The more complex a thing is the more effort required to make it.
The truth is you can not produce an undesigned material when you have a basic premise stating God created everything. And the absence of an undesigned material undermines your design argument since you cannot distinguish between a design and non design.

Furthermore since you agree creation is an intellectual effort, the absence of intellectual effort implies the absence of creation itself!

Intelligent design may not give you a step-by-step of how design took place but we do know intelligent agents acting on matter can make systems similar to those found in nature. In that sense, intelligent design is a mechanism even if we don't know the specifics.
Do you have examples of undesigned materials to which we can readily compare with designed materials in order to grasp the chasm between both?
Family › Re: Can You Live In A House Built By Your Wife? by Kay17: 4:55pm On Mar 30, 2016
Apparently the problem seems to be with culture and tradition. Marriage is a power relationship with the woman taking the inferior role, and the man on top.

If the question was if a man could live in another man's house -- no problem, all men are equal. But in a woman's house, it is a curse to receive charity from an inferior being. Herein lies the problem -- women are inferior!

Unfortunately even women think they are inferior. Classic case of self indoctrination. And some men prefer their wives failing when they are unable to succeed financially.

You should simply ask me questions without resorting to conclusions based on your assumption. There will be no internal wars to fight, no Boko Haram, no Biafra agitators and no Militants once they people are directly in ownership of their resources.

2. The States will explore resources they have, be it farm land, or Timber, be it cocoa, groundnut, even States like Anambra can become manufacturing hub. There is no single State without great resources even Borno State. But if there is any States that are ready to merge, then their houses of Assembly should discuss and meet with NASS to ratify the laws to effect their emergence.

3. 40% is very much great for a Federal Government if utlized without corrution. We are talking about 40% from all the States and 100% the Fed will keep from resources from littoral waters etc plus an enhanced and focused tax regime
1. This is a bit naive. Yes probably Niger Delta crisis might have been avoided but Boko Haram and Biafra have grouses far independent from revenue allocation. Nonetheless my contention was what would happen in a case where States refuse to pay the federal govt its 40 percent? Especially when the federal govt depends on this revenue from the States.

2. This as well is a bit naive. Oil such a unique and extremely profitable product that it incurs tax of about 80 percent. Such a percentage can not work with agricultural products or manufacturers. They would riot if you taxed them that way. The Western region used a monopoly board to buy cocoa at ridiculous prices from the farms and sell the same cocoa for lucrative market prices. Then pocket the remainder for development. That can not work today. Again farmers will riot.

3. Except you trim the federal govt into a tiny size. Reduce govt schools, police, judiciary, army etc. Then you would have a very weak centre which wouldn't be able to hold.

A strong centre is ideal. It ensures extra cash reach those who desperately need it. What Nigeria lacks is a credible mature political process. With wise visionaries charting our progress.

1. From Crude Oil, to Gas within States boundaries will be owned by States, mined by States and 40% tax paid to Federal Government. Then Federal Government owns oil and gas deposits outside the littoral zones of the states to 200 nautical miles into the ocean. And keep the proceeds 100%. Same thing with solid minerals. States should sign MoU on FDI with which ever investor they want.

2. Proceeds from the above, and taxes is enough to run any navy, airforce, Federal Police, education etc.

3. Interstate commerce will be managed by the Commissioners of Business And Commerce within the catchment states with supervision from the Minister of Commerce and Industry at Abuja.

4. Air Travel will be regulated by the FAAN and each State can decide to investment intra and international routes, same for Sea Travel, managed my Ministry of Transport.

5. States pay for every obligation from the Federal Government, so each State functions basically as independent unit supervised by Abuja.

The competition will naturally make each State Government follow working prototypes of any turnkey system developed by a better state.

State is where mistakes are made and corrected and certain paradigm modules from states are implemented at Federal level if it was successful in the State.
In other words to hell with States without oil. Your federal system is based on the conjecture that all States must at least a natural resource. The States without natural resources, will naturally falter and sink into poverty merely because God refused to bury oil under their feet.

Now if the States refuse to pay the federal govt, what will happen? War?

Military budgets can take up to 40 percent of a country's GDP. Military equipment isn't cheap.

FAAN is still a federal body, similarly seaports and rail will have to be administered by the federal govt since they are issues concerning the entire country.

So the federal govt will still be large and will need a large budget to maintain itself.

Simple: Radical approach is the answer; Stop giving States Allocation. Yes, stop giving also means stop taking from states. States should exploit their resources and manage their infrastructures and build their power plants, while paying 40% taxes on oil/gas, solid minerals to Federal Government. States should establish their police and clinics and schools.

Federal Government is supposed to be a supervisor of States, not the God of States.

Except we change the governing structure, we must go down, real down.
When you say States should exploit their natural resources what do you really mean? Does that mean direct investment?

Who will pay for the army navy and air force?

Who will manage inter state commerce?

What about air travel sea and rail regulations?

Who will pay for that?

Kay17, look at the bold portions of your post.

If you agree that babies "develop" in the womb, why won't you agree that they are babies and living at all stages? What is not present or non-living things cannot develop, right? Except you are saying the babies were something else and then turned to babies at some point during the pregnancy.

What features exactly make a baby a human being? Did you know that as early as 3 days after conception, the embryo already has the stem cells that will develop to all the organs of the baby body? At this time, the baby is full human in cell form!

I have read some responses that suggested that babies are human when they grow legs, hand, organs etc. So, what about babies born without limbs etc? are they less human being? Saying it is okay to kill a baby before they develop these organs is simply a way to justify and quieten the conscience of the woman and the abortionist. Even at that, a large percentage of women that had abortion at any stage live with the regret for the rest of their lives. Who, really, under "normally circumstances" will opt for abortion instead of having the baby?
Sperm cells and eggs are living. They are definitely not dead. The fact they are living doesn't mean humanity should jealously guard the eggs. The eggs and sperm potentially lead to a bouncing baby, yet we find these to be mere human seeds of life.

The ancients believed what made us human, was the soul. The soul behaves in such a manner that distinguished man from beast. The capacity for pain, and interpretation of that pain along with consciousness beyond a vegetative state is what distinguishes human to me.
