How would u feel if ur 'sista' who does it in hiding is now free to call it her legal profession Nobody said prostitution is right, rather the moral pondering is left to the individuals. The legalization will be on the basis of health and safety, reduce crime rates surrounding prostitution. The government through taxation and regulation, controls prostitution. Which is better than leaving a wild unregulated highly patronized crime. |

EreluY: Are you for real?...You're jumping from one end of the argument to the other. Going by your last posting, you've come full round back to my point by stating that students would be "starting from scratch". If so, except this guy has a bachelor's degree in music, he cannot enrol on a masters degree programme without subject knowledge at the undergraduate level (certificate, diploma and BA). You now see the point I'm making. If you're intelligent enough, look up the college's link I've already provided and work it out yourself: the institution doesn't offer a master's degree in music. So, whatever the name of this artiste is, he hasn't received a masters degree in music. For your information, music is a difficult academic subject. Not everyone has the capacity to successfully pursue it. The fact that someone can play guitar, string lyrics and melodies together is no proof they can pursue academic study of music. Any musicologists in the house? But Timi didn't take a masters degree from the school. |

MrAnony1: No sir, complex systems are not necessarily functional.
A goat for instance is a complex system with specific interconnected parts such as legs, ears, eyes, a brain e.t.c. each of these parts are distinct and specifically work together in such a way that they are functional.
e.g. the goat's eye's function is sight, and it is specifically located and connected in such a way that it performs this function quite well. i.e. it is not located inside the intestine for instance where it wouldn't be able to function properly. Similarly, the goat's legs are for specifically connected and located so that they can perform the function of movement. The same can be said for all the other parts of the goat.
A goat is not merely a complex system, it is a complex FUNCTIONAL system.
Now please can you tell me...
1. How exactly are Mountain ranges and Rift valleys complex, functional and a system? 2. How exactly are a rivers and their tributaries complex, functional and a system? 3. How exactly is forestation complex, functional and a system? 4. How exactly is Continental drift complex, functional and a system? 5. How exactly are Cloud formations, movement and dissipations. complex, functional and a system? For me, the purpose of interacting subcomponents is functionality (pragmatic value). It is hardly conceivable to find a system that is nonfunctional because all the parts unite to form an integrated whole. To me that is functionality. In the absence of functionality, the system breaks down. |

MrAnony1: "Natural" doesn't work as well as "accident" when trying to contrast against "intelligent design". especially when the question is whether Natural processes suggest intelligence. To use the word "natural" as in Whether goats originate naturally as opposed to by intelligent design begs the question as it assumes one of the positions that it is required to prove.
Thanks for your suggestion anyway, but I'll stick with the original phrasing. Your inquiry seeks for an alternative to intelligent agency. For goats, is there an alternative to why they are here? In the absence of an intelligent agency, there is the default position. For the theists we debated on this thread, the default is nothingness to which I disagree. |

A system is a set of interacting or interdependent component parts forming a complex/intricate whole. Dictionary.com an assemblage or combination of things or parts forming a complex or unitary whole Complex means composed of interconnected parts. So system covers both complex and functional. Now mountains and the watery cycle can be identified not just as a whole but divided into parts which work together. A river feeds the ocean which in turn feeds the river and its source via evaporation. A mountain similarly is naturally forged from multiple bits, it stands on a foundation etc |

I will attempt to assist Plaetton with his thoughts.
His use of the word "random chaos" is contrasted with intelligent agency. Intelligent agency has a central organizing factor whilst random chaos has numerous factors determining causality. Random chaos doesn't mean a total disobedience to physical laws or causality as most theists think it is.
So Plaetton uses that word for this special meaning. |

EreluY: @ Kay17: 9:24am On Mar 19 Would you mind mentioning just a few of the requirements needed for a proper understanding of music theory?
If you were to take a music theory course, let's say MUS201, where MUS101 is a prerequisite, you would be expected to have full grasps (knowledge and understanding) of topics like: harmonic vocabulary & modulation; diatonic triads and seventh chords in major and harmonic minor; 2-part, 3-part and 4-part harmony (figured bass); harmonic progression; chord progression; fugal writing; rhythmic anticipation and articulations; melodic and harmonic tensions and resolutions, etc., etc. There is no way you can study on a music course or programme which builds on a student's knowledge and understanding of these theoretical stuff without good prior knowledge of what they are. Pop musicians with no music qualifications (just like children who speak mother tongues without theoretical knowledge of the rules of the grammar) do compose and perform music featuring these theoretical principles. Albeit, like the childhood and language analogy used, pop musicians with no academic music training have no understanding of theoretical principles underpinning their compositions and performance. Berklee offers from the scratch trainings on music theory which gives a music novice an opportunity. Therefore prerequisites are not really necessary. Of during the study the student has to naturally progress from one prerequisite to another but not before the programme. |

tianshie: Okay. Two quick things. I live in America & I'm in academia. Online degrees are about as useful as horse piss. Nothing beats the actual experience of a face to face encounter with a professor in a classroom, and the useful interaction with your classmates. Take into account pop quizzes. Actual class participation for credit. Opportunities for extra credit. Consultation with a professor during office hours. I could go on. An online degree is basically a fraud.
As for calling me a ****(whatever you wrote up there), I have proven that you're ignorant, one of those vacuum-heads who fall on their dusty corner-cafe computers, put down their meth pipes, and go on a rant. Hence I was not wrong to say you judged his programme with the title only. The advantages you mention in favor of classroom education have regularly been criticised. Classes largely depend on the professor or lecturer. Some are brilliant and communicate perfectly while most teach as dry as dust and in the most sickening fashion. Nonetheless most classes now prefer a Socratic method where the student does all the work. Similarly good online degree courses tend towards the Socratic method, besides e-mails bridge the distance between the instructor and the student. Try to acknowledge the advantages of an online degree. |

Did you ever go university - one with a music department? People take courses from other departments e.g. Biology students taking courses in biochemistry or mass comm students taking courses in english or drama. You won't find anyone (and I mean anyone) taking courses from music because it is a technical subject. Joshthefirst: Here's my take bro:
Genesis 1 : 1
In the Beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
First, the bible tells us who was present at the beginning; the beginning being the origin of all things, of creation itself. God was at beginning. God, is not nothing. God has always existed, He is the I AM, so there has never actually been nothing.
Genesis also says God created the heaven, and the earth. I believe the heaven here doesn't signify the firmament, as that is physical, and was recreated on the physical earth. Heaven in the verse is the spiritual realm itself.
The Immaterial realm has an origin too, God is the origin of all.
God's foreknowledge is his foreknowledge You have to establish a common authority upon which the Bible can be recognised. In the absence of that, the Bible is just as any other book. Sadly the shallowness of Christianity shows with the steadfast adherence to a mere book. |

He is the container of infinity. .. Since God was in infinity, at what point did he create the Universe? Because in an infinite flux, no point is actually attained. An example, if it takes infinity from point A to B, then it implies B will never be reached since infinity is inexhaustible. |

Yes oil prices were high in 2006 my mistake I mixed it up but look at it right there, 2003 oil was generally below $25 per barrel and were we sinking the way we are now? Of course not! As I said earlier on, a leader should have integrity and accountability cos those are the the 2 most important attributes a leader should possess. Buhari doesn't possess either does he? To invest significantly in education, science and technology will involve greater debts. Would you praise him for more debts in times of hardship? Buhari has set his sights on corruption. The qualifications of a president are basic -- same qualifications of a leader. Buhari doesn't have to be an economic guru to run the country, his role is to set the goals and visions, and delegate to competent experts.
Buhari has clearly stood his ground against official corruption. Which admirable. Official corruption is largely responsible for Nigeria's underdevelopment. During his campaigns and upon entering office, he has given clear visions on how his government will combat corruption.
Yes Nigeria is facing an economic crisis. The truth be told, there is no easy solution to reduced revenues. The most unpopular and effective solution is tightening up the belt. Slashing the civil service, cutting costs on the police force, education, power, agriculture. And that is very painful. And no Nigerian will support such a drastic solution. If you had this in mind, you wouldn't be insistent on saying Buhari is clueless.
Nigeria's over dependence on oil is not Buhari's fault, it's an inherited problem. The solution which is diversification takes over 25 years to come to fruition. Buhari's term is a drop.
Nigeria's underdevelopment is evidence of continual neglect by prior governments. With the people watching in acquiesce |
