Our battle as Christians is a spiritual one against forces and powers in high places. Temptation is a common problem faced in life. Even the Boss; Jesus Christ, had His moment of testing in the desert which He successfully overcame with the help of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

So how do we overcome temptation in our days?!
By putting on the whole armour of God!

1. The helmet of salvation: without repenting and surrendering our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we are not on a platform able to overcome the schemes of satan!

2. The breastplate of Righteousness: even after Jesus has saved us through the cross, we still have to resolve to walk in righteousness forsaking our old ways and living a life worthy of our calling in Christ!

3. The belt of truth: Our actions as believers should not be based on self-righteousness but truth!

4. The feet of the gospel of peace: Even as we "walk in faith", we should ensure we still seek and preach peace.

5. The shield of faith: The first step the tempter takes is to cast doubt over our salvation from the bondage of sin. Christ has saved us and no amount of pressure should make us think otherwise! This is an important step in the battle to overcome temptation as it is imperative never to forget or doubt the fact that God through His precious Son Jesus Christ has set us free from sin and sickness through faith and grace.

6. The sword of the Spirit: This is also an important step and the evident one Christ used in overcoming temptation. Sometimes (most times), the enemy ramps up the pressure on us that it becomes imperative not only to remember our faith and walk in it but also to "resist the devil" and speak the Word! Once a relevant scripture is put into play, the devil has no choice but to flee!

7. Persistence in our walk of faith is also imperative because the reason God allows trials and temptations to come our way is to build our persistence so we are "complete lacking nothing"!
