oyaskii: "They Cloned Tyrone" (2023).
A fantastic watch, an expected gem when you actually pay for good writers and hire the best actors to deliver. Highly recommended.
8/10. Hollywood looking at this sub like

abduleez1: I'm prolly alone on this. You're not. A lot of people disagreed and called out the folks bashing the animation. Verdict across the board was that the composition was off in some scenes but most faults were only if you were looking for it. Nothing that would majorly stand out. |

pu7pl3: From the first season alone? Apart from Denji and that one eyed girl I didn't see any other character development. Makima and the rest remain a mystery.
But this Hell's Paradise did more for me, everything is just straightforward, idk sha that's just how I feel. Yuzuriha, that ninja girl. The blind badass asaemon. Fuchi, the asaemon wey dey follow that big guy, even those 2 brothers and then Sagiri and Gabi. Almost every character just had you invested in their story. Mehn, can't wait for season 2, I swear |

pu7pl3: That Aquaman December slate was perfect bruh but I guess the reshoots would need more time to fix into the general story and all.
They should just release Blue beetle and keep their fingers crossed, me and my household will see it in cinemas and support the Latino community's B.O. with our measly naira. Losing that December slot is a major hit to Aquaman. No other slot can give them that kind money. And if they do early year release, January to March, the chances of flopping go bullish. |

abduleez1: Yes!! Funny how I forgot to include when it was the show I was thinking about, especially that their annoying "No Black Elves" or "Black Harfoots" forgetting Harfoots have dark skinned tribes in the books.
The anti WOKE mob just pick and choose which project to attack and they go for easy pickings.
I remember when they tried that shït with The Last of Us. How that shït ended in two weeks. 😂😂😂 The common denominator thats almost ALWAYS constant in projects that suffer anti WOKE pushback are the ones with weak writing. Wednesday was the final straw for me. Weak male cast paired with a strong female cast. Wednesday literally had lines where she'd antagonize the patriarchy or tell the guys not to mansplain to her. Nobody said PIM! Na there I know say all na wash. Na just for the hustle and grift. Went through ghostwriting platforms. Nobody was posting for a Wednesday bashing script. Yet when She-Hulk was airing, there was at least 3 posts every week for a She-Hulk bashing script. |

abduleez1: And this is why I show support for some of these movies like The Little Mermaid. It's not as if I love it or I'm invested in it but it's the crowd that seem to slap WOKE on anything they feel is woke agenda, especially ones empowering women or pushing diversity real hard.
Look at how HOTD handled it well. How many people are shouting WOKE and all that nonsense with the Velaryons being Black?? If woke shït is so good, they hardly have little to nothing to rant about especially when it's HBO. They left HotD and went to attack Rings of Power. |

SOZINN: Perhaps you're right, and I'll reconsider some of the woke movies I've previously skipped. However, if you approach it from a financial perspective, you'll see why I take wokeness into account when estimating box office revenue for high-budget woke remakes. A glaring example that supports the thesis is China's decision to forgo financial support for The Little Mermaid due to political reasons, as they have with a few other woke remakes. As is well known, China is a significant source of revenue for the global box office.
The average box office revenue of comic book movies today demonstrates their influence. The Little Mermaid is now left to make due with the remaining contributors, some of whom will still decline to partake due to politics. It only makes sense to play all of your cards when entering the market with a total budget of $350 million or more to increase your chances of earning a profit at the box office. China has also disallowed movies that were not woke from being shown at all in the country so can't also attribute that to wokeness. Cultural differences will always clash in filmmaking. Studios will always pander to the home market first. Chinese films pander to the Chinese first. Can't expect American films to not be created with an American audience in mind first. One of the first major things creators are taught is to create for a singular audience or a single person cos if you try to create a story for everyone, you usually end up creating a story for no one. The Chinese will never like all Hollywood movies and there's really nothing Hollywood can do about that. They can't really be expected to change themselves for China |

oyaskii: I saw "Naruto" religiously back in my UNI days. I'd be on Fz series, sponging for new episodes at 3:30am on Thursdays back then. But i could never really crack serialised Anime save but a few like AOT since then, seems too tedious, that's why i praise you and Baddestguyp, i don't know how you guys do it. But with Hollywood on a downward spiral, i might have to look that way. Alright. So I think what I'm going to do is start you off with short series (13 episodes max) that are pretty newcomer-friendly and then we'll progress to 25 episode shows. Also throw in a movie every now and then. So start off with Violet Evergarden

oyaskii: Is it me or has the ROI of going to the cinema to see a flick has diminished and at an all time low?. I swear, I have taken more L's than actual W alone 😭. I'm this close to just giving up on the whole thing and keep sailing full time like my fellow brothers in arms. Or maybe i am expecting too much? because movies on the big screen used to hit like crack and some were so good that will even warrant a 2nd trip. But now,it seems like these studios actually do not care about making proper flicks, as evident on the current row between them and the actors and writers whilst sitting on billions of dollars of capital. It makes no sense. They will rather employ agendist airheads that are so woke that they are battling more than 10 agendas pandering to nonsensical artsy BS that have no place in proper movies. That's why they are losing money at the BO and i fear that this nonsense will continue for the foreseeable future.
Maann...I have only 3 true guilty pleasures i truly indulge in with reckless abandon. Music, Movies and football... Music is already failing, the Saudi money bag seems like it will ruin football in the coming years, so I don't even know where to turn to if movies fail as well 😭😭 Nothing is permanent. No market stays bullish forever. There's always highs and lows in Hollywood, or any other venture. A decade ago, 2009 and 2010, off the top of my head, had similar issues. And then they got their mojo back in 2011 and now they've dipped again. Also funny how the dip seems to follow economic turmoil. The stock market crash of 2008 and now the economic impact from COVID. Anyways, this is the perfect for you to get into ANIME!!! |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Kaycee7(m): 3:18pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
SOZINN: Okay, I see it now. The reports you are reading, including this one below, anticipate that the movie will also bring in hundreds of millions of dollars from other sources of revenue in addition to the projected $500–$600 million. This merely supports my earlier assertion that the film must gross $780 million in order for Disney to consider turning a profit. They simply hope to accomplish that through other methods of generating income because their theatrical run was unsuccessful.
The argument I'm attempting to make is that the film is a box office dud because it failed to bring in enough revenue to actually break even or make a profit. It is not my intention for you to find crude oil when I ask you to conduct additional research. The crude oil is already visible to anyone who has a basic understanding of how these things work. You obviously don't know anything about these topics, which is why I asked you to do some research before speaking.
Additionally, I already earned my L for Mission Impossible, so why are you bringing up its box office earnings now? When predicting the box office revenue for a remake, taking wokeness or progression into account is nothing new. Many individuals appear to be doing that at the moment with the new Snow White movie they are working on. I know I can't always get it right but some of their previous box office failures can definitely be attributed to their wokeness. Alright. Fair enough. Failure can never be attributed to wokeness. If it could, there'd be no successful woke movies like Little Women, Enola Holmes or Call Me by Your Name and woke series like The Sandman and Wednesday. The anti-woke crowd just jumps on badly written movies and claims it failed because of woke agenda. That's like claiming Black Adam flopped because it was pushing toxic masculinity agenda. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Kaycee7(m): 1:27pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
SOZINN: That is why I advised you to conduct research into the statistics and numbers, and make your own calculations. I have previously addressed the woke clowns in the mainstream media who are trying to portray a false picture of its success. How in the world can a movie with a $250 million production budget and a projected $140 million marketing budget need $500 million to not only break even but be deemed a success?
That's like saying they get to keep all of the movie's theatrical earnings, so cinemas all over the world now show Disney movies for free. You should learn more about how these things operate and dig deep into them before talking. You pointed out the Collider. I've now provided a post where the Collider said the movie broke even. But because it doesn't suit your agenda, you now want me to dig deep until I discover crude oil. Every report puts The Little Mermaid's break even point between $500m to 600m. At $600m, they have $44m left that they can easily get and surpass from the digital release. Funny how when The Little Mermaid struggled at the box office, you claimed it was because of wokeness. But when Mission Impossible 7 failed to meet opening weekend projections, you suddenly realized that the box office has been volatile this year. Everybody go dey alright las las sha. Anyways until you can provide proof for your claims, desist from yarning okoto about TLM |

Broskyjames: You clearly haven't been interested in it for while now, and even as far as predicting it will bomb and yet, You have had 5 posts or so on it today alone. So either you are very interested in seeing it ( which will contradict your earlier stand) or you just want to rant for the hell of it, just to elicit some sort of reaction. Either way, it's time to let it go.
PS: Don't even bother seeing the movie cuz from your all posts today, it seems you have already formed a clear opinion about it. That's the one right there. SOZINN: Kaycee7 is actually a clown for diving right in to deliver a stûpid take without pausing to look up the numbers we're using here, all because he wants to pick on someone. Disney may have lost between $100 and 113 million on the project. It flopped, end of story. You know how we do here bruh. Let's see some valid references for this. Otherwise na okoto you dey yarn |

abduleez1: Kai, Disney no go kill us... 😂😂😂
That rubbish they did with Snow White must be the Joke of the Century.
You can do "optimised for the modern audience" without sounding annoying and unnecessarily pandering to diversity. HBO did it with House of The Dragon and people calmed down and forgot about the Black Velaryons when it finally came out.
Let's see what they do with this sha.... I wanted to shout premium wokeness before until I remember in the movies we had a black dude playing the Centaur. Can't remember their skin colour in the books tho. Annabeth is white asf in the books. Anyways, the Riordanverse fanbase is a woke fanbase. Most of them were cool with the race swap sef. |
