Apparently, not all young women dream only of aseobi and colourful receptions.
The other day, I spoke to my friend from high school, I’ve known her for 11 years. She told me November makes her sad; she was born on November 1st.
My little cousins think I’m super cool; they stare while I put on makeup and talk about work like it’s a spa. One of them says she hates school and can’t wait to leave. She isn’t even in university yet. Who else wants to tell her, exams are probably the only straightforward thing in life.
The other one said she can’t wait to have total freedom, free of curfews. Well, my bank statement makes curfew seem like child’s play to me.
My mom called me this morning. Her words, “Nne you’re getting old oo.” She jokingly said while attaching an annoying happy birthday at the end.
I used to be one of the youngest in my class, I hated it. No one except my best friend knew my true age. It's funny how bigger numbers appeal to younger girls. And what is the deal with the legal community and 21? I stand with the free thinkers; age is nothing but a number.
My aunty casually ranted about the biological clock or something like that. It seems she understands science in a weird reversed way; it’s hard to explain why we were having that conversation in the first place.
Please who else thinks the maze is real?
Instagram is a bloody shit hole of pride. I’m freaking tired of the smiley model-like faces with achievements longer than my wish list all beginning with, “at just 23 or at only 24.” Bloody hell! Can the rest of me grow in peace?
I don’t like routines but I stick to my schedule.
My friend from university has made it her goal to send me pictures every Saturday. Apparently, there’s something that makes most of the girls I went to school with tie the knot every Saturday. Here’s the sad part, I think they are too young.
Where was I when people got the adulting memo?
The last man-friend I attempted having told me I have big dreams, too big in fact and gently hinted that, he hopes reality falls on me. Anyway, we stopped talking after that.
I still carry my first passport photo in my purse, it makes me feel safe.
I know this is weird, but I’d rather starve than eat something I don’t like. I have a thing for food that's green. I don’t like junk, I swear! but I indulge sometimes even though it hurts my belly afterwards.
People say waking up early is hard, I wonder why. I’m no alien, I hate alarm clocks too.
My ex-roommate once called me a robot, it sounded more like a compliment to me. She said I timed everything, well most things. I can’t help it; my brain is a bitch. Just last week, I signed up for a 31 days writing challenge and now I can’t go to bed unless am done with this.
I’m sorry how did I get here?
Maybe I have a ridiculously long to-do list or perhaps, reality really means mediocrity. There’s something about age that condones settling. They call it, settling down.
My parents’ lifestyle scares me, I love them to death but that’s the truth. I’m never listening to the lady who lives next door again.The other day, I saw her pitifully supporting her head on her folded palms while singing an Igbo gospel song. By the way, I’m a Christian.
I still believe dreams come true, I dream a lot these days and most of them are nightmares. I sometimes think I have two brains or half a brain, either way, I’m not like them.
My aunt told me recently that she was going to start eating healthy again; she’s right here caressing a coke bottle. And no! I’m not judging, I simply remembered what she had said she would do.
Not to brag, I once said I’d have a 5.0 GPA and I did. Guess what, I still feel dumb as hell most times plus why did I even use that pathetic statement, “not to brag.”
Remember what I said about the humbling nature of age? I think it works like hypnosis. I hate how my cousin gave up on her dreams of going to med school because according to her, studying medicine takes too long and she’s not getting any younger.
My older friend is tired of telling people she’s actually a Miss. She says it’s the surprise on their faces that irritates her the most. I think that’s why she’s having a mild case of high blood pressure.
Someone said eventually, we all settle. In my own words, that’s bullshit! I have a long list of golden oldies; I should write about them but thank God for Google.
Today is my birthday, I should buy a cake and accept the subtle reminder of the ticking clock.

1. I walk into the kitchen, informing my mum that it looks like I am having an allergic reaction evidenced by the sudden eruptions of rashes on my hands and trunk accompanied with intense itching. Grandma overhears and offers a cream she says would be good for its remedy. I reluctantly collect it. My "doctor" mind strays as I begin a search for the trigger of the allergy, the chemical constituent of the cream and its mechanism of action.
My mother remarks to grandma to keep her cream saying "you know your son is a doctor. he's still looking for what could have caused the rashes before he thinks of treating it."
2. Femi sits in class. His teacher tells him there are 9 planets. He knows this is outdated knowledge because he read via his father's laptop that newer planets (or dwarf planets) are being discovered almost every year. He also knows that the sun does not technically "rise" in the east as his teacher had taught. On the contrary, it's the earth that rotates on its axis. Femi challenges his teacher with this new and updated knowledge of his. His teacher walks him out of the class for insubordination and disturbing the peace of the class. He spends the rest of the day roaming about the corridor. His only crime - He knows too much.
3. I sit at morning devotion with the family. After reading the church's devotional for the day, I have this gut feeling that I had read that day's lesson somewhere in the past. I pick up my phone and google the first words of the devotional and realize that day's devotional had been lifted word-for-word from another devotional published 7 years ago by another denomination entirely. While thousands of others all over the world are getting "blessed" from that morning's lesson, I sit fuming at the crime of plagiarism.

Four months into the relationship, he took her to his parents and elder siblings. They all liked her. She took him to her parents. They both liked him. Their respective pastors also approved of their plan to get married. A date was fixed for the marriage.
Then they started the tests. The HIV test came negative for both of them. Their genotype was compatible. The guy said he was so happy and relieved cos he didn’t want anything to be a barrier. He said the lady’s character and lifestyle were so agreeable with his. Their strong Christian faith also matched. The guy did not want to miss this gem.
Then it occurred to him that they do not know their reproductive fertility status, especially as they have not been having sex. The guy discussed with his woman and they both agreed to do a fertility test.
The chose the clinic of a consultant gynaecologist who happens to be a relative of the guy’s mother. They went for the result on the very day the printer delivered their wedding invitation card.
The doctor was very happy, the guy said. This made him believe, even before he was told, that they were both fertile. He was right. The doctor happily announced to the guy, whom he sees as his nephew, that he is fertile and has no reproductive issues. He said same about the woman but added, very happily, that , in fact, she is already pregnant! (For doctors and medical people in the house, is it ethical for a doctor to announce a pregnancy test result when none was required by the patients? Does fertility test for the woman necessarily involve a pregnancy test?).
The doctor did not know he had just dropped a bombshell. He looked at how shocked they couple looked and wondered aloud what was wrong.
The couple left in silence. The guy says the lady was just as shocked and nonplussed as he was.
HERE ARE THE ISSUES:
*What this means is that while insisting on the no sex rule with her man, she was sexually active elsewhere and became pregnant with another man 5 months into the relationship with the man she wants to marry.
*The guys says to worsen issues the lady has suggested aborting the 2months pregnancy. The guy would have none of that. Says he has never procured one and would never support it. Says its pure murder and can block her from future pregnancy.
*The other option is for the lady to have the child and let the father, whoever he is, to have it while they continue with the marriage. But the man is certain that his mother won’t let him go ahead and marry her if she knows she is pregnant for another man.
*Or to live a lie and pretend that the baby is his.
*Or to call it off with the lady and cut off completely from her.
*Please note that the guy has paid EVERYTHING on the marriage list, including the bride price. If the guy ends things now, would it be divorce or just ending a relationship??
*Finally (and this one is for me), is it possible for a mature woman to be 2 months pregnant and not know

Hmmm, God please help your children. This is the kind of story you hear and you act on it in your own relationship. As for what the guy should do, he should gently stop any marriage preparation, ask the lady to go take care of herself, then inform his people, let her inform her own people by herself and then move on. She would have gotten away with deceit and cheating if God did not decide to reveal everything to him.

Never change for no 1. Worst advice ever, please people should learn to work on themselves and dis idea of never change yourself for anyone should not be used in every occasion. People should learn to ask themselves questions like 1) is this behavior good 2) if its not, then work on yourself and change it, don't go on lieing to yourself like. Ok its not good but its not bad, tell yourself the truth and become the person you want others to love as well as be an inspiration to others. I Am having a very delicate family issues now. I am an only son of my family and 5 sisters all married, since I brought my wife to be to them they all love her with passion and they keep telling me to take good care of the girl, they keep warning me not to treat her bad.
