Last time I said its time to do the needful and probably it wasn't actually God's will that day for me to do it but now I believed is the time to do the needful that I intended because I always believed that we would always connect outside Golden City but didn't know when.
Once again, Good evening Citizens

Yes and straight up without much addo, let's put up ourselves to the latest X-FACTOR challenge here in Golden City as some of Us have already started grin

Interestingly, the challenge is no big deal or new to all of us actually both from our point of view here in
GOLDEN CITY and in the outside world around our walls which is why GRACELANDERS and others that have anything to do with NYSC too would be welcomed whole heartedly as Key Figures and participants around our dinning Table this time around grin

And here we go, although the next line below is to encourage us all in participating accordingly. Alright,

Note:
¤* It's not COMPULSORY that you must respond with the exact figure or degree of imput so that you won't be discouraged to say something or contribute your quota

¤* You can also choose to give your response part by part instead of typing out a whole at once because some persons have phobia for long commentary/Views/opinion or idea postage

Up next is the X-FACTOR challenge as our line of discuss and is presented as below

1.
WHAT ARE THE 20 THINGS WE NEED TO KNOW AND/OR DO AS GRADUATES or BEFORE SERVICE ELAPSES TO YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND ADVICE
2.
HELP MENTION 5 THINGS TO DO IN 5 DIFFERENT STATES THAT CAN IMPROVE ONE'S STANDARD OF LIVING AS A CORPS MEMBER

This 2nd one can be structured with respect to building a career path during service year, employability and job creation, relationships, etc

3. KINDLY WRITE ON THE CULTURAL SETTINGS OF YOUR PRESENT STATES OF RESIDENCE WITH RESPECT TO THE PREDOMINANT SOURCE OF INCOME, RECREATIONAL AVENUE AVAILABLE SUCH AS PARKS, TOURIST SITES, etc

In this line.. we are trying to reintroduce the talk about our present state of basement again So that we can refresh our minds about each state of the federation again

4. IF YOU ARE PRIVILEGED TO BE THE PRESIDENT FOR ONE WEEK, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE ABOUT NIGERIA?

5. IF YOU ARE THE NYSC Director General for one year, WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU ENVISAGE AND PROMOTE ABOUT THE SCHEME?

6. IF YOU ARE THE Minister for Education, WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU EFFECT IN SALVAGING NIGERIA'S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM?

In Trying to buttress our explanations, we should bear in mind that

The essence of the No.2 is to have the 37 states discussed out so that citizens can have an idea about the nature of the states that we have relative to NYSC which would help enhance preparation for entrepreneurship during service year.

While For No.3, 4 5 & 6, many Nigerians "KNOW" (in abstract) what they think is the responsibility of leaders as it relates to their present predicament, hence the importance of this discuss as our MENU for the time being. grin
GOOD MORNING PRECIOUSLY BLESSED SOULS OF GOLDEN CITY AND NIGERIANS EVERYWHERE AROUND THE WORLD

The last time I responded to our X-FACTOR challenge, I began from the first question, Now, let me however start by taking it from the rear this time around

If I am privileged to be the president for one week, I would like to change the following about Nigeria.

1. I would declare a FREE EDUCATION for all Nigerians from Primary to Tertiary Institution

2. I would embark on a massive infrastructural facility provision for all schools both state owned and federal institutions

3. To achieve the above, a massive Hostel accommodation project shall be the starting point because without a conducive learning environment, comfort and state of mind, No meaningful learning would take place.

4. Teachers training and re-training shall be embarked upon for an improved qualitative learning outcomes

5. All colleges of Education shall be upgraded to a degree awarding institution in a bid to improve the quality of Teachers responsible for primary and post-primary Educational Administration

6. Teachers salaries shall be greatly increased if not made the highest because for one to be what he or she wants to become in the future, he or she must pass through a Teacher

7. Massive employment drive shall be taken in respect of the revenue generation to carter for the above proposition and thus run the economy alike. grin

8. NYSC program shall be retained and the degree awarding colleges of education shall be incorporated too to help improve on their teaching experiences before they can be adequately ready for Teaching jobs as the Teaching practice exercise as presently constituted is grossly inadequate in this regard

9. Issues of Students dismissal or expulsion/ rustication over exam mal-practice shall henceforth be a thing of the past as the most stringent measure henceforth shall be a 2-step down from the level at which he or she committed the crime.

10. There would be no more restrictions in age requirement for National youth service program because of the ripple effect of the tendencies for age falsification and Ofcourse the un ideal age limitations for jobs adverts that often tempt, leads and breed such experiences even in work places including Ministries and parastatals where Civil servants would always want to change their age for the fear of the unknown after retirement, hence the desire to stay longer in service and see if their breads can be buttered better than as it is presently since they have no hope for their pension benefits after retirement

11. A template is already in place by the Grace of God Almighty (In shaa Allah) to be deployed as a means of revenue generation that would take care of the Economy and every aspect of Agriculture, Manufacturing and productivity shall be captured accordingly

12. Do not forget that in 11 above, such can not achieved effectively and efficiently without good road networks, power/Electricity and Good/ Standard living conditions as related to good drinking water and its availability.

Thus, It means that all shall be captured and attended to simultaneously.

13. Every higher institution shall be named after Nigerians who have distinguished themselves and made their marks at one time or the other in the historical anals of Nigeria for the sake of posterity and as a form of historical learning adventure for our children children in the days and years to come.

14. Every State shall have a tourist destination infrastructural design template uniquely separate from one another to be followed to the latter.

15. Let me briefly state the template with which every other Ministry shall follow with a simple analogy of Health Sector.

A) Every registered patient shall receive FREE MEDICAL CARE in all Government Health care Centers Nationwide upon the payment of the registration FEE that shall never exceed #*,*** by the Grace of God Almighty (In shaa Allah)

B) Every child given birth to within Nigeria shall be entitled to a minimum amount as he or she turns 18 years of age.

C) Although an account shall be opened for him or her at birth but all the fund shall not be handed over to him or her except the fixed amount as that would be in accordance to a policy of What one can do for his or her country and NOT the reverse of what the country will do for him or her as the case is now where everyone thinks that if it is not Government Job, then Nothing else is better

Karshi is one UNIQUE TOWN in Abuja and whether I like it or not, It has become part of my history in whatever way we want to look at it and by the Grace of God Almighty (In shaa Allah), It shall have a UNIQUE tourism Features especially the Specific instructions that has had my name once in its records and the lives of the Commuters in General Shall never remain the same again by the Grace of God Almighty (In shaa Allah)

If I be the president, then I won't be the Minister of Education again nor the DG NYSC again, Instead I would be dishing out instructions on how to see to the fruitful and successful implementation of the above CARDINAL GOALS OF MY REIGN AS THE PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA AND THAT WOULD BE A VINDICTIVE MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT AT THE END OF THE DAY BY THE GRACE OF GOD ALMIGHTY (IN SHAA ALLAH)

IF WE BELIEVE, THEN WE CAN ACHIEVE

REMEMBER MY STATEMENT MOST OFTEN THAN NOT AS

'WE SHALL MEET AT THE TOP BY THE GRACE OF GOD ALMIGHTY (IN SHAA ALLAH)

I JUST HAVE THIS UNDOUBTFUL BELIEVE WITHIN ME ESPECIALLY WITH THE RECENT ACTIVITIES THAT HAS CHARACTERISED THIS YEAR 2016 FOR ME, BOTH WITHIN MY BASE AND NATIONALLY AND I MUST SAY THAT I GIVE GOD THE GLORY ABSOLUTELY

I particularly express my profound gratitude to everyone who has contributed immensely to the discusses at hand thereby bringing about the much solicited and anticipated Golden City of our hopes, dreams and imaginations with information, education, inspiration and entertainment required to make timely and informed decisions before, during and after our service year.

Lol. Thanks a lot. So what is the official way to withdraw from the service year. Can you officially apply to put the service on hold. What are your options? In regards to officially stopping or putting it on hold
Like I indirectly pointed out in a previous post before the one you quoted, the simple answer is refusing to go to camp on the 27th or the other stream II date and you will have to do everything with respect to mobilization again in the future from the beginning when next you are ready by starting with the school notification about your desire for a possible re-enlistment when the time comes.

And by then, it is REVALIDATION that you would be doing.

Is the extension in addition to the full one year? Meaning- camp, posting, then extension?
Yes in capital letters?

MissOyin:
U won't repeat d camp again since u ve done it b4. D extension is lyk a punishment 4 abandoning ur ppa. And b4 u can get ur certificate u ve to pull lots of strings
I think there is a point of order here. Remember she said when she leaves just after 2 months in her PPA.

So she hasn't even done anything yet and thus if she is to complete it, won't she be posted again to may be a different state even?

Remember that Nysc does nothing without the Budget and that means she has to be captured for every needed documentation for completion of the remainder of the service year.

Besides, this era of online registration has actually changed or alter many things, unlike before.

Good morning by the way and good is the word to be used again for seeing you now after a very long while you know.
NYSC › Re: NYSC 2016 Batch A Corp Members House by Kbs468(m):
CROBBOY:
Good Morning Mr. Kbs468,

While the two instances you stated above are valid, I do not think there really apply to her case - started the service year, being on a payroll, and decide to discontinue after two months. Don't you think so?
Good morning Bro and how was your night?

Well, I think the below cut from Nysc explains further my point because girlyesosae would be treated as an abscondee and thus her account would have been blocked or discontinued being credited after they might have found out about her.

Remember that there is every Thursday's CDS meetings where documentation and record keeping would be carried out.

Also, Nysc has now device an impromptu PPA visititation mechanism where Corps members are caught unawares, all in a bid to nib the various cases of abscondedment in the mud.

So she would definitely be noticed and the punishment is to follow without pay after completing the mandatory remaining period (if she is not forced to start afresh) thereafter which would make up for the allawee that she might have accessed before being discovered.

And about whether or not you will have to repeat everything, I would say YES because because everything about service and your eventual categorization or classification in terms of CERTIFICATE issuance would still carry your mini details,

Which Ofcourse can't be identified via ordinary online registration but through a visit to Camp in order to effect every necessary registration in the state you would be posted to simply because, it is not ALL the PCMs posted to a particular state that would get to honour such posting, hence the need to hit Camp and be part of a fresh mini registration to that effect if you really want to get the Nysc certificate, else you will end up repeating this circles continually until you get to do the right thing, which is honouring the Camping exercise in your state of posting.

Best of regards to all

NYSC › Re: NYSC 2016 Batch A Corp Members House by Kbs468(m): 8:31am On Mar 29, 2016
girlyesosae:
Please what happens if you go for camp and start working at your ppa. But two months later you stop going.
If you want to continue later on. Like say 2 or 3 years later. Will you still need to go to camp? Or you will just be assigned to a new ppa.
Your question can be structured into the below quoted situations.

While It will take all Corps Producing Institutions one week to upload the Senate/Academic Board list, it will also take prospective corps members (both locally and foreign-trained) four (4) weeks to register online. Apart from these, there are other administrative duties connected to the mobilisation process which we have to undertake before the orientation

'Registration for Remobilization' is required only for corps members that have been mobilized in a previous NYSC batch but absconded from service.

'Registration for Revalidation' is required only for corps members that have been deployed in a previous NYSC batch but did not go to camp.'

And the particular category that you would fall into is the Remobilization seeking group and that would require you to do everything afresh from notifying your school about ur predicament for a possible re-short listing before you can register again online at the appropriate time

Hope I made it clear enough though

MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT A16 (GOLDEN CITY) REPUBLIC

GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS, GRACELY AND JUSTIFIABLY BLESSED SOULS OF GRACELAND

UNA WELDONE OO, EKU ISE OO, SANUNKU FA, DAALU NU OO grin

I must start by sounding apologetic in every aspect of this piece and thus, I hereby tender an
UNRESERVED APOLOGY for making this submission late even though I emphatically believe that GOD'S TIME IS THE BEST and No one knows what the exact Best time is except when memorable events and experiences accumulates over time that we begin to fathom out whether or not a particular time is the best ,

so, in the light of the above reasoning, I would say it is time that the lord have made for me to respond to the activities of the recent past that really shaped the image as well as the blistering direction of grin GRACELAND.

(THE MESSAGE )

We the people and Government of our beloved GOLDEN CITY REPUBLIC Rejoice and felicitate with you all in a double front celebration of LOVE emanating from your resounding and successful completion of a seemingly free and fair but keenly contested electioneering participation which had metamorphosed into a legally constituted authority already with its various subsidiary governing councils also in full gear of functionality I guess, going by the time frame between then and now,

And in the resurrection power of God Almighty as bestowed upon Jesus Christ as well as the blessings and lessons therein as the reason for the season, thus further confirming that yes indeed, now is the
BEST TIME the lord has made.

Aside the fact that very many commentators might have passed their VOTES OF CONFIDENCE already, including the President and very many other principal officers of our dear Republic, we hereby officially declare to you GRACELANDERS that the examplary qualities in terms of your postures during the pre and post election era including but not limited to campaigns seriously gives hope to humanity that a Violent free world is still possible and foreseeable in no distant time if such can be witnessed in the NIGERIAN political clime that would serve as template for the rest of Africa and the world in General for all the crisis prevalent in the underdeveloped world are actually due to faulty political structure usually in place, a deficiency that is always being exploited by the developed Economies.

We believe certainly that the 7 ills and injustice that abound in the world today as summarized in the first picture below can effectively be corrected by the singular act of emulating you all, including the GRACELAND'S JEGA himself-Chumaster, not also forgetting the Vice presidential due of Abbie25 and ruthobaz for giving hope to the future female political population about politics without bitterness even among female fold.

Once again, Congratulations and pls KEEP THE FLAG FLYING AS WE ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO KEY INTO OUR BELIEVES AND STRIVES as Captured Pictorially Below in the second pix TOWARDS RENDERING SERVICE TO HUMANITY OUT OF LOVE AS AN ACT OF LOVE IN THE SPIRIT OF LOVE FOR GOD IS LOVE AS GRACE IS HIS BIGGEST ACT OF LOVE BESTOWED ON HUMAN RACE BOTH COLLECTIVELY AND INDIVIDUALLY AS IT PLEASES HIM.

With much unwavering and undaunted love, I say PEACE UNTO US ALL

oh i concur, can u kindly quote me with a copy of the reason(s)? and oh bdw, happy easter though.
Yeah that provision and approval was only given for a total population of 210,000 PCMs only by the Budget rather than the initially projected 260,000 owing to the financial crisis inherent by the Nigerian economy presently.

So the debate and skepticism had always been whether or not the National Assembly would give approval for the 210,000 or would still encourage the original proposition, thus culminating in the rampant changes in the TT pending when approval for a definite agreement would be ready for implementation bearing in mind the various National religious festivities as both Stream I and II are now scheduled to round off camping now before the Muslim Ramadan fasting Commencs roughly in the early days of June

But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything. 3 If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him. 4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.

5 “But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’ 6 then his master must take him before the judges.[a] He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.

By the way, the reason given or cited was actually something worthy of note really as it directly affect us but still, it shouldn't have arisen in the first place

WHAT ARE THE 20 THINGS WE NEED TO KNOW AND/OR DO AS GRADUATES or BEFORE SERVICE ELAPSES TO YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND ADVICE

Well, in the Spirit of leadership by example and as an attempt to honour the call for me to follow suit after CROBBOY and Logodwhiz had actually Set the stage in response to our X-FACTOR challenge while also keeping the ball rolling that eventually made Fraih join in the Fray,

I would by this post made my contribution known to us all. Although valid and salient points have been made with respect to question 1 in the challenge, mine would or should be complimentry to the issues raised in theirs and to also serve as a reminder to all and sundry that you too can still chip in yours as the question was actually framed with the knowledge of an ocean and the anticipated responses to be droplets.

So off I go in Rukkyola's Voice grin

•~INITIATIVE

•~
"The difference between people who exercise initiative and those who don't is literally the difference between night and day. I'm not talking about a 25 to 50 percent difference in effectiveness; I'm talking about a 5000-plus percent difference, particularly if they are smart, aware, and sensitive to others."

(Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People)

If you never do any task except those that your are specifically asked to do, then you need to work on initiative.

One of the hallmarks of a graduate is that he or she knows the types of tasks that require permission and those that don't.

That knowledge will come with experience. Generally, it's because we are graduates and it is believed that we have been drilled and groomed enough, hence most freedom to take initiative on projects and decisions shall be accorded us.

This privilege has to be earned. The more that we have proven that we can work independently, initiate and complete appropriate tasks, the more our supervisors will leave us alone to do what we want to do.

•~ TENACITY
•~
"The IQ test was invented to predict academic performance, nothing else. If we wanted something that would predict life success, we'd have to invent another test completely."

( Robert Zajonc)

•~
"Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity."

(Louis Pasteur)

It's very easy to become depressed and unmotivated about going on anything.
Tenacity means sticking with things even when you get depressed or when things aren't going well. For example,

One lesson I learned as an Undergraduate was that the best way to finish my project was to do something every day that gets me closer to being done. If all I have left is writing, then I write part of it every day. If I still have research to do, then I do part of it every day. I Didn't just do it when I'm "in the mood" or feeling productive. That level of discipline kept me going through the good times and the bad and thus ensure that I finished.

I'm very sure it was a similar experience for most of us who studied in Nigeria here as the clime is the same across the country and the same level of commitment is still required for adulthood whose phase we are in now.

•~ COMMUNICATION

•~ "Present to inform, not to impress; if you inform, you will impress. "
(Fred Brooks)

"What is written without effort is, in general, read without pleasure."
(Samuel Johnson)

Communication skills, both written and oral, are vital for making a good impression as a graduates, students, researchers, Employees, Employers and Enterpreneuers. But we should also expect to write technical papers and reports, give presentations at conferences, and give demonstrations to groups of visitors. If we can write and speak well, we would earn recognition and distinguish ourselves in front of important visitors or at major conferences.

Conversely, if we cannot communicate well, then our career options after passing out will be limited. Our lecturers and Professors spend most of their time communicating: teaching, fundraising, guiding us undergraduate students then, and documenting our results (through papers, videos, viewgraphs, etc.)

In industry, we would need and meet people who can communicate well so that can work in teams, learn what businesses and customers need, present our results, raise funds, and transit to leadership roles in projects and personnel management. If we are technically brilliant but are incapable of communicating, the our results will be limited to what we can accomplish alone and our career growth will be limited, both in industry and academia.

Unfortunately, not all graduates received training in giving presentations or writing technical documents (which are different from English essays). Hopefully, opportunity would always present itself in our PPAs through on the job experiences which NYSC seeks to provide as one of it cardinal goals.

•~ ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS
•~
"Failing to plan is planning to fail."

The above is a popular saying in every human society and gatherings which may include during seminars, in lecture rooms, during testimonies, Motivational forums, while giving advice etc.

One important metaphor relatively useful to this heading is : 'Organize your tasks as if you were juggling them'.

Juggling several balls requires planning and skill. You must grab and toss each ball before it hits the ground. You can only toss one ball at a time, just as you can only work on one task at a time. The order in which you toss the balls is crucial, much as the order of working on tasks often determines whether or not you meet all your deadlines. Finally, once you start a task (grab a ball) you want to get enough done so you can ignore it for a while (throw it high enough in the air so it won't come down for a while). Otherwise we know the rest while switching between tasks as fatigue or stress are usually our experiences while outright collapse of the task entirely are not completely ruled out in most cases .

•~INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

•~ "For humans, honesty is a matter of degree. Engineers are always honest in matters of technology and human relationships. That's why it's a good idea to keep engineers away from customers, romantic interests, and other people who can't handle the truth."
(Scott Adams, The Dilbert Principle)

"I can calculate the motions of the heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people."

( Isaac Newton)

I guess some of you would be surprised by the above quotation about Engineers grin, well, let's just give them the benefit of doubt since we have seen some of their handwork here already in GOLDEN CITY grin

Computer Science, Mathematics and in general most Science oriented majors are not, known for their interpersonal skills. Some of us got into this field because it is easier to understand mechnics and calculations than people.

As frustrating as computers and Machines could be, they at least behave in a logical manner, while human beings often do not. However, our success after graduation and beyond depends a great deal upon our ability to build and maintain interpersonal relationships with our advisers, supervisors, our committee, our research and support staff and our fellow friends, colleagues and partners in progress- In this case, fellow CORPS MEMBERS.

This does not mean we must become the "life of the party." I am not and never will be a gregarious, extroverted person. But we should make serious effort in learning and practicing interpersonal skills as they would be crucial to our post graduate life career, and elevated industrial positions.

Why is this important, you might ask? If one is technically brilliant, shouldn't that be all that counts? The answer is no, because the situation is different from our undergraduate days.

In both graduate school, life and in business circuit, we must depend upon and work with other people to achieve our goals as well as via simple Grace of God, but again, We should remember that we didn't sit back at home depending on the Grace before bagging our various first and other Degrees qualifications.

•~ FLEXIBILITY

•~"The Chinese call luck opportunity and they say it knocks every day on our door. Some people hear it; some do not. It's not enough to hear opportunity knock. You must let him in, greet him, make friends and work together."
( Bernard Gittelson)

Flexibility means taking advantage of opportunities and synergies, working around problems, and being willing to change plans as required. As a graduate Corps members, we are on the bottom of the academic ladder or pole now.

Even undergraduates can rank higher than Us now especially at private universities (because they actually pay tuition!) we cannot order anybody to do anything. In general, we would be in the position of reacting to big events rather than controlling them. Therefore, we must be flexible in our approach.

For example, we may not have as much access to a piece of laboratory equipment as we would like or maybe access is suddenly cut off due to events beyond our control. What do we do? Can we find a replacement? Or reduce the time needed on that equipment? Or come in at odd hours when no normal person uses that equipment? Or redefine the direction of the project or task at hand so that equipment is no longer required?

•~Let me also rest my fingers here while targeting a future date too to reply or respond to the remaining questions accordingly.

•~Although I didn't get to make it 20 too as the question demands but but I believe that you all would agree with me that it is not always how far but how well.

It is also an opportunity of creating a room for other solid contributions as we envisage them after this X-FACTOR thingy had already garnered an overwhelming support so far from the limited commentators whom have all given a positive affirmation and not otherwise grin

Good Morning all this hour.

IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET OURSELVES BACK TO DEFAULT SETTING BUT UNIQUELY NOW WITHIN THE NEXT 31 DAYS, WE DECIDED TO TRY TWISTING OUR DISCUSS INTO A MORE LOGICAL, INTELLIGENT, WORLD ECONOMIC AND NEAR REALISTIC HUMAN SURVIVAL ADAPTATION.

So, In the light of the above, we would like to officially announce to us all that the much anticipated
A16 (GOLDEN CITY ) AWARD'S final Voting category (5) and the Corresponding Awardee's pronouncement as well as the verdict on the Phase II and III which could be trimmed to phase II only are hereby put forward to between the penultimate week of next month, ie April 20-25

However, One of our kitchen expert, The Minister of Telecommunications and ICT-CROBBOY in conjunction with the Executive Cabinet of GOLDEN CITY have provided the menu to be served between now and then on our dinning Table for all to devour pleasantly with Joy and satisfaction.

So the dinning room had been inspected and everything is set for your savouring delight

GRACIAS grin grin grin smiley smiley wink wink

While For No.3, 4 5 & 6, many Nigerians "KNOW" (in abstract) what they think is the responsibility of leaders as it relates to their present predicament, hence the importance of this discuss as our MENU for the time being. grin
