River state Governor Rotimi Amaechi has debunked a story spreading on the internet that claimed he labeled governors Babangida Aliyu And Sule Lamido of Niger and Jigawa states, respectively as ‘deceitful’. He accused desperate politicians of writing and posting on social media fake stories and concocted statements for selfish political gains. Amaechi spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. David Iyofor, in reaction to a recent report in an online sharing platform, Nairaland, titled: “How Aliyu and Lamido deceived me – Gov. Amaechi.” He said: “that is a false story obviously cooked up by mischievous haters, desperate politicians. Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi did not make such derogatory comments about his colleagues, governors Aliyu Babangida of Niger state and Sule Lamido of Jigawa state. “He did not speak to anyone or say the things attributed to him in that fake posting. It is a big lie, baseless and unfounded. And to confirm it was fabricated, the story had no source. “This smear campaign against the governor and others will not sell. The public is now wiser and well informed to believe such gibberish. Whoever is writing, posting, publishing or sponsoring these lies should look for something else to do and stop spreading false rumours”. dailypost.ng/2014/09/26/amaechi-denies-labeling-aliyu-lamido-deceitful/?wt=3 |
phransix147: My brother will all these things work? No be to dey pass bill wey no get head y not save more people from going to jail by creating jobs or better still cushion the effect of poverty by giving unemployed citizens stipends.till such bills are passed Mr. Senate President u have done nothing worthy of congratulations. So you feel this bill isn't important. Haven't you heard of employed professionals or self emploed businessmen who were wrongfully placed in jail without trial or those who deserve to be jailed but have overstayed their term if they were tried in court? It seems your only problem now is unemployment and until you get one everyone is doing nothing in this country |
Gboliwe: So, of what use is a branded drug when generic drugs can handle an issue? Is illness a thing of pride to showcase one's wealth? If Panadol can do the job why take diclofenac?I'm not against the use of those drugs cos I use them too, what I'm against is when a patient's sensitivity result comes out and the only drug that can be used according to the sensitivity is meronem and the scheme can't provide that for him obviously because its expensive. Imagine a situation where I travel to another state and suddenly feel abnormal (malaise) which obviously is not an emergency, I will have to wait till I return to see a doctor. A stroke patient who stays above three weeks in the hospital has to take care of herself after the third week and any other time of admission till the next year right, meanwhile most of the investigations like the CT scan or MRI needed to manage this patient are not covered by the scheme. In a situation I have five children, I'll have to chose which of them that won't benefit from the scheme. Let's say I'm an 18yr old jambite, no NHIS for me till I get an admission, when we know a lot of jambites are above 18. I don't think the TSHIP back in school even had cover for ultrasound an x-ray because my classmates had to pay their bills when they had an accident. A friend of mine currently covers a private hospital that runs the scheme and always complains of the way his hands are tied when he tries to give his patients adequate basic healthcare from investigations, admissions to drug prescription and administration. Most of his patients are referred to another private where they pay from their pockets. The National Health Insurance Scheme in Nigeria has a lot of loopholes that have to be fixed. |
Are u hypertensive? Any history of trauma to the back? have you had stroke before? have u had any abdominal or pelvic( below the abdomen) surgery before? Any abdominal pain? Can u postpone/hold the urge to urinate? |
Gboliwe: You are clearly in error my dear. What you refer to as "cheap drugs and investigations" is the same thing that kill one. What you term cheap may not be cheap for your neigbour. These generic drugs cure illnesses.Nobody said the drugs don't cure illnesses. Most patients that come to the hospitals can afford those drugs and investigations without the NHIS. So it seems they are not losing anything outside the cover of the scheme. The two groups still have problem with paying for the more expensive drugs and investigations. There are a lot of limitations also e.g number of offsprings to register, age of offsprings to register, restriction of healthcare to the hospital of registration, 21 admission days a year, low priced lenses etc. Have you wondered the reason the scheme has not been effective. |
What are the advantages one enjoys using NHIS as they cover only cheap drugs and investigations? As these can be paid for easily by those not using the scheme |
iwonbaoko: We will soon find out whether he controls the military let him rig election then we will know . Control is not by appointing chief of Army staff from your village as Aguiyi Ironsi found out too late. Who are those people that will carry out the repression are they Ijaw soldiers too. I look forward to Asari Dokubo as the new Ojukwu when GEJ is slaughteredWhat's this one saying? Do you think 2011 was free and fair? Na you go slaughter am. You are still living in the military regime. Wake up man, you are 200late. |
passion007: Ifeoma Nwobodo has yet to gain public acceptance; There was a rally to try to convince Nkanu indigenes that despite originally being from Udi, she is now married to an Nkanu man and has the liberty to represent Nkanu. On the other hand, Frank Nweke hasn't any identity issues to battle with. His stint as Minister ended well. So, I believe he has the advantage of everything else except incumbency. Can you please remove Ayogu Eze from your list of senators that have achieved something tangible because he has nothing to show for the 7 years he has been in Abuja. He obviously is the worst of the 3. Thank you. |
spyder880: Nsukka all the way for me.Anyi ejebe nsukka |
spyder880:It is all over the town. An intelligent man anyway. but I don't think he is from the nsukka zone |
Johnnyessence: see my people in d house d opposition party d apc has learnt alot of lesson from ribadu move apc is not having consensus candidate in d next month primary am predicting kwakwanso for president 2015 and his running mates his owele okorochas just wait and see buhari is 70+ of age he just need to be of support to d young candidates. How will he? he is born to rule. He will contest till his time is up. I will say it again, Nigeria is not Zimbabwe. We don't need a Mugabe. |
enigmaotr: Do not expect people to be calm when a result is declared in a unit for example and a different one declared at the INEC office. He should be ready for trouble if that's what he's depending on. And you can not rig where you're not popular. You'll only cause trouble.A man that controls the military and paramilitary can rig anywhere he wants and don't forget INEC too is within his reach. You can only go to the tribunal after the election to whine and come back disappointed. I will repeat that Nigeria has not gotten the strong opposition that we need to check those in power. APC is just a party of aggrieved PDP politicians, same old men that have failed us. Meanwhile it seems Jona is doing his homework. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/2015-gov-lamido-endorsed-jonathan-presidency/#sthash.BqUSVRUS.dpuf |
THE emerging scenario in the fight against terror and the steps Nigeria’s government has taken would have resulted in global sensation during the cold war. The United States would fight to keep their allies. They would never easily lose any of their allies to then Soviet Union as now represented by Russia which has, although, embraced free market economy. Nigeria, for years, enjoyed close ties with the West and was seen as a US ally. But the seeming snub or nonchalant attitude towards it by its traditional allies has reportedly compelled Nigeria to turn to Russia and China for the training of its military as well as acquisition of military hardware to fight Boko Haram insurgents. Highly placed military and intelligence sources in Abuja told Saturday Vanguard that the decision to turn to the other two world military powers was an interim measure to roll back the military advances made by the Boko Haram insurgents who have gained some grounds in seizing and controlling some towns and Villages in the north eastern states of Borno and Adamawa. Already, Nigerian security personnel from the Army, Police, Department of State Services (DSS) have been dispatched to Russia for training as Special Forces to combat the Boko Haram insurgents who are mounting stiff challenge to the Nigerian security services. According to Saturday Vanguard investigations, following the increasing sophistication of the Boko Haram terrorists, the Nigerian government approached American and British governments to procure arms for its armed forces in order to effectively counter the insurgents but the two western governments have continued to dither, a situation that may have been responsible for some of the gains recorded by terrorists in recent times. A senior security Source told Saturday Vanguard: “the United States and Britain appear unwilling to provide arms to our armed forces. It is surprising because these are two friendly countries to Nigeria which is under threat from terrorists. We have no option but to look somewhere else for our needs pending when the issues are resolved at the diplomatic level by our government.” This remark underscored the current lukewarm attitude of both countries to the Federal Government. The USA had said that it would not assist Nigeria with land forces and would not also share intelligence with the Nigerian military. Sources said that they did not trust the Nigerian military which was accused of lacking professionalism and which also had moles within. But Nigeria expected better assistance from USA, Britain and the like. But their support has fallen below expectation. Saturday Vanguard gathered that one of the options was to turn to Russia which has always been willing to supply weapons and some other logistics to Nigeria when other western countries are not forthcoming. The Nigeria Air force has several Russian fighter jets in its fleet. It was gathered that Nigeria has entered into contract with Russian Arms manufacturers for the supply of high calibre weapons to the Nigerian Army to combat the insurgents in the North east and has begun discussion with the Israeli government on possible supply of military hardware. “When the Chief of Army staff said recently that the Nigerian army would soon take possession of weapons that would reverse the trend in the North east, he was referring to the deal between Nigeria and some Russian arms manufacturers. We are also in discussion with Israeli companies. We don’t want to be held ransom by our traditional allies. That is why we are expanding our sources of supply,” the source said. As part of the agreement between Nigeria and Russia, a group of Nigerian security personnel are already in Eastern Europe for training as Special Forces with another batch, made up of the Army, Police and DSS billed to leave Nigeria next month to join the other three batches that are already in training. President Jonathan recently, at the passing out parade of cadets at the Nigerian Defence Academy, said the armed forces would set up a Special Forces Brigade to combat terrorism in the country. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/boko-haram-fg-turns-russia-china-usa-uk-fail-nigeria/#sthash.gq64IVsY.dpuf |
enigmaotr: I do not expect him to lose next year either, but then we'll follow the results from the units right to the INEC Headquarters in Abuja.Violence..... is that what your party now stands for? Meanwhile people only rig where they are unpopular. |
Meanwhile our IGR keeps increasing. Enugu Na adi mma. www.thisdaylive.com/articles/lagos-rivers-enugu-generated-the-most-igr-in-2013/189296/?utm_content=bufferb8975&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer |
enigmaotr: The talks of regions is mere talk? Have you ever wondered why the Jonathan-led FG is soiling Buhari's image? South-West will be the battle ground this time around. Subtract South-West votes from Jonathan's=victory for Buhari/APC!Forget all these your calculation my friend. Have you forgotten he has the power of incumbency. Don't expect a free and fair election from those old men cos we are still far from that. Come 2015, you will left wondering who voted Goodluck Jonathan in. |
enigmaotr: The talks of regions is mere talk? Have you ever wondered why the Jonathan-led FG is soiling Buhari's image? South-West will be the battle ground this time around. Subtract South-West votes from Jonathan's=victory for Buhari/APC!So buhari is the answer is the answer to the trouble with Nigeria. The same man that threatened to make the nation ungovernable. Any wise Nigerian won't vote such into power. |
enigmaotr: I know Buhari is the most fearsome PDP nightmare! With the support of Tinubu,APC governors in the South-West, and some stakeholders in the North-West, GEJ should kiss 65% of the votes in that region goodbye. Any APC presidential candidate will still have at least, the required 25% in states in the North-East a North-Central with the exception of Kogi and Benue!Buhari has only been one thing.....a loser. So I'm wondering how he is a nightmare. He should just quit and leave the younger minds to try. We both know ur claim of regions above is mere talk. I don't have any problem with any region producing the President, but I'm strongly against those that failed us coming back. |
ISpiksDaTroof: Because the Ibos say so?Not only Ndigbo but a lot of Christians considering what some Muslims have been up to all around the world, northeast Nigeria inclusive. |
nwando: Who is calling meNne I just love your name. |
enigmaotr: If you still think GEJ will win next year, I don't know what adjective to use for you! Massive victory in North-West and South-West alone is enough to send him packing. What's needed is few more states to get the required 25% votes. Not that the South-East and South-South votes are consequential.I don't worship politicians if you do. So which states will you use to get the 25%? Just waiting for the primaries and once its lord buhari you know the rest. Just know that APC will see a lot of decamping after the primaries. |
enigmaotr: Atiku was actually arranging for 2015 Igbo presidency, back in 2011. But now that GEJ won in 2011 and still wants to sit tight till 2019, it's better Ndigbo stop mortgaging their chances at Presidency to GEJ who would most likely handover to a Northerner come next year or latest, 2019! The earliest, Ndigbos can have a chance at presidency in PDP calendar is 2027! Okun re, Osa re, so which way Ndigbo? In other words "embrace buhari" right. You are sure going to lose. APC is just a refurbished party with a new name and the same goals. Till the day we get a good opposition, PDP will continue to rule. |
egift: Ohaneze Ndigbo and Igbo Businessmen have sold Ndigbo 2015 to the Zoologist. Have you not been seeing them in TAN Rallies? So that's the reason you sound bitter, the TAN rally. But you have Rochas or is he now Hausa? |
egift: The impact of a Buhari/Fashola 2015 is breaking the heart of every PDP memberOnce there is a buhari factor there just expect to lose. I was expecting a strong opposition with a younger innovative mind as their flag bearer no matter the ethnic group. But here we are, left with the same old politicians that had the opportunity to rule this nation and failed still struggling to come back. Nigeria is not Zimbabwe. |
barcanista: Theere is a clause in Oyegun's Statement. Pls take note of the ifBuhari will still lose as usual. That's if APC will be so lame to give him the ticket this time. |
Any Igbo being that believes this is dumb. Why can't they start from 2015? |
The All progressive congress (APC) leadership has said that it will be the first political party in Nigeria to give the south- East region the opportunity to provide the country's next president. The APC promised that they will also develop the Igboland if the party has the total support of the South-East to kick out the ruling party PDP out of power come 2015 in the country. This statement was made known by the APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun and the Ex Governor of Bayelsa state, Chief Timipriye Sylva in Abuja during the opening of the Imo state office in Abuja. m.dailytimes.com.ng/article/apc-give-igbos-chance-produce-nigerias-president-2023-oyegun |

Was expecting them to have passed this stage considering the stage it was the last time I saw it. Anyway work is still on.
|
So I passed by and got some pix with a phone. The Diagnostic centre in UNEC under construction. They are currently trying to roof the building.
