Secondly, i never insinuated that Ikwerre has no oil wells, but Ikwerre oil wells when compared to that of Orashi region,pales. And when we factor in the fact that the new landlocked rivers state that Ikwerre would inherit with the creation of Oil rivers state would lose all the previous offshore oil allocation it once controlled, it becomes obvious that the new rivers state would only be a shadow of the present rivers state, financially and economically speaking.

CORRUPTION:WIKE KNOWS THE FACE IN THE
MIRROR

I have been made aware of statements by the
Minister of State for Education, Nyesom
Ezebunwo Wike concerning the Justice Adolphus
Karibi Whyte Hospital and our Malaria Elimination
Program.
In the statement to his supporters, Mr. Wike
insinuated that I engaged in corrupt practices in
these projects.I would have dismissed Wike’s
claims as the ranting of a fast drowning man
who is disorientated by his circumstances but
my duties and obligations as a public servant,
accountable to the people of Rivers State does
not allow such luxuries.
Therefore, I am constrained to respond to Wike’s
delusional statements.
1. The Karibi Whyte Hospital is an on-going
project with a target completion date. I shall in
due time brief Rivers people on the progress of
the hospital.
May I quickly add that the first contractor was
disengaged based on spurious allegations and
campaign of calumny orchestrated by Nyesom
Wike, then the Chief of Staff and his cohorts. The
Governor set up an independent panel of inquiry.
The panel exonerated me of any wrong doing and
stated that the State had lost no money on the
project. Not satisfied and blinded by his desire to
implicate me in some crime pressured the
security services and ICPC to arrest and indict
me. I challenge Wike to tell Nigerians how much
he spent to spread rumours of my arrest while I
was in United Kingdom on official assignment.
As stated earlier, I will give Rivers people a
progress report on the Justice Adolphus Karibi
Whyte Hospital. It suffices to state here that the
1,000 bed mega hospital is not an abandoned
project and will be commissioned before long.
2. Malaria Elimination Program: Rivers State was
the first Statein Nigeria to embark on Malaria
elimination. The Governor, after consultations
with experts in Nigeria, ECOWAS and WHO
decided that Malaria Elimination was achievable.
Malaria is a disease that has killed more
Africans, especially children, than all the world
wars and inter tribal wars combined. This noble
vision was supported by ECOWAS andeven some
foreign governments. We commenced the first
trial phase of this program which involved
spraying of biolarvicidein select local government
areas and towns in Rivers State. This was done
in conjunction with the Cuban government. The
analysis and the effects of the spraying are
known to the people as the findings were made
public. Malaria incident reduced by as much as
63% in the areas we sprayed. In fact, it is the
effectiveness and efficacy of our trial that led to
the National Council on Health adopting Malaria
Elimination as a national health policy for
Nigeria.
Due to the success of this first phase and the
high cost of transporting the biolarvicides we
used, government, in order to reduce cost
decided to set up a factory to manufacture this
essential substance, in our Malaria Elimination
Program. The foundation stone for this factory
was laid by the ECOWAS President Kadre Desire
Quedraogo and President of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria who was represented by Minister for
Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu at the proposed
site Rumuosi in Obio Akpor Local Government
Area which is Wike’s local government of birth.
ECOWAS is a partner in this project. The factory
on completion, will supply biolarvicides to the
entire country and beyond. Construction of the
factory shall soon commence.
Can Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike claim ignorance of
these facts?
Honour must be given to whom it is due. Rt.
Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has done
extremely well in conceptualizing and provision
of affordable, free qualitative health care to Rivers
people. I am proud to have served as his
Commissioner for health since the inception of
this administration.
I know Nyesom Wike very well. We are both
products of the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi political
family. Wike may be described as a son of
perdition but he was loved by his family.
As I stated not too long ago, we have entered
another political season. But this should not
deter us from speaking the truth to our people.
The reality is that all power belongs to God and
He gives to whom it pleases Him to bless. If in
the quest for power we destroy institutions,
malign people and fabricate stories just to score
cheap political points, we fool nobody but
ourselves. It is like building a structure on quick
sands.
I am a man of simple tastes. My family size is
very manageable. I was practicing medicine
before politics. God has blessed me. I know my
history. I have no desire forprimitive acquisition
of obscene wealth as I do not indulge in
expensive habits like consumption of drinks that
cost hundreds of thousands of naira a bottle.
When I travel within and outside Nigeria I am
content to do so in commercial airliners. Yet I
feel no envy or jealousy towards those who, even
as serving public officers, travel in private jets at
least twice a week.
I challenge Nyesom Wike to make same claims.
Wike has been in public service all of his adult
life. There is no record that he has worked
anywhere, either as a lawyer or a businessman,
yet Nyesom wike has properties in Port Harcourt
valued at over N5,000,000,000 ( five billion
naira )
I shall give 50% of my August salary to Nyesom
Wike or anybody who can prove that the Minister
of State for Education has travelled to Port
Harcourt on a commercial flight more than two
times since being sworn in as Minister of State
for Education. I repeat, at least two stubs of flight
tickets or manifest that proves that Wike was a
passenger on any commercial airline. Who pays
for the chattered flights Wike comes to Port
Harcourt with at least two times a week?
Wike’s private residence in Asokoro, Abuja, is
said to be worth at least ₦1,000,000,000.00 (One
billion naira). How did the minister of state for
education acquire that kind of property?
How can a man who has never managed a
private company in his life afford tens of cars
which he doles out to his supporters? Did he
sponsor some of his supporters to the world cup
in Brazil with his salary as Minister? How many
years did he save money to sponsor these
people to Brazil?
Wike should tell Nigerians who pays for his
favorite brandy, Louis XIII, which costs at least
£5,000 (five thousand pounds) or ₦1,400,000 a
bottle?
Conversely, I challenge Wike to tell Nigerians and
indeed the world my assets, apart from my
house in Okrika, so as to support his allegations
against me. He should also expose all the assets
acquired by Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi
who he claims to have made Governor ofRivers
State.
The injunction that “those who live in glass
houses should not throw stones” should have
been imbibed by Wike.
He claims to be a lawyer but cannot show one
brief written by him. His familiarity with court
rooms are as a result of being a plaintiff or
defendant in law suits. A man with no visible
means of livelihood yet owns malls, mansions,
and doles out cash and gifts in millions of naira
daily;a man whose earnings do not match his
assets should be the last person to accuse
anyone of corruption. He needs no one to show
him the face in the mirror when he accuses
people of corruption.
However, I pray that those who aspire to lead
should be very mindful of their utterances and
actions, especially in this season. If by the time
this election cycle is over our people and
institutions have been destroyed who will they
govern?
I am ready to stake my character, reputation and
integrity against Wike’s. Let the Rivers people
and indeed Nigerians be the judge.
Daily, I remind myself of what the good book
says: “Power belongs to God.”

If there is a class of civil servants in Akwa Ibom
State that have been perennially marginalized,
deeply stigmatized and greatly insulted, it is
teachers in the about 1110 public primary schools
in the state. Their story is a tragic reminder of the
agonizing era of slavery when slave-workers who
devoted the totality of their lives to the service of
slave masters and the society were never properly
appreciated and compensated.
Unlike their counterparts in public secondary
schools, primary school teachers in Akwa Ibom
State are relegated by the state government to a
point that silence is no longer golden. It is as if
they have sinned against God and humanity. The
current travails of these oppressed teachers
cannot be exhaustively addressed in this piece, it
will require writing a textbook if one were to
attempt an exhaustive narrative of their travails.
But for the purpose of this essay, few examples
will suffice.
How does one explain the fact that till now, the
third week of August 2014, teachers in public
primary schools in Akwa Ibom State are yet to be
paid their meagre salaries for the months on June
and July 2014. How can a government that prides
itself as being pro-people owe those who have the
historic task of laying a foundation for our
children’s education for two months? These are
people with families to cater for, people who do
not have any other serious source of income.
The state government has equally been very
unconcerned about other welfare components of
these teachers such as; belated reflection of
promotion in salary, leave grant, pension and
gratuity, etcetera. For instance, primary school
teachers who were recruited in 2001 whose
promotion was due in 2010 only received their
promotion arrears in 2013. Promotion in the
state’s civil service is every three years. Thus,
those teachers who were recruited in 2001 were
due for another promotion in 2013, but till date,
this has not reflected in their salaries.
Before now, promotion for these teachers was
based on year of ‘certification’ and employment
but the Godswill Akpabio regime in its sense of
justice has now changed it to solely year of
employment. Meaning that prior to now, a teacher
who acquired his qualifying certificate (usually the
National Certificate of Education, NCE) say in 2007
will be step(s) ahead of a teacher who acquired his
in 2006 in the salary scale, notwithstanding that
both were employed the same year. But now, both
are being promoted solely based on year of
employment.
Presently, the leave grant of these teachers for
year 2013 and 2014 has not been paid. That of
2012 was only paid by the government after much
bickering and pressure from the teachers. Primary
school teachers who had retired from the state’s
civil service in 1991 till date have not been paid
their gratuity. Many of them have died while
waiting to receive the fruits of their life time labour.
The state government in an attempt to avoid
accepting responsibility and blame has serially
made untenable and non cogent excuses. The
government has advance an irresponsible alibi by
shifting the blame to local government councils in
the state. The excuse of the state government is
that salaries for primary school teachers is funded
jointly by the state and local governments and that
the state government have always made their
counterpart funds available on time. This excuse
on the face of it look sensible, but a critical
appraisal of the situation shows that the state
government is being economical with the truth.
It should be stated that the State Joint Local
Government Account created by Section 162 (6) of
the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria (as amended) from which the salaries of
these teachers are drawn is constitutionally under
the exclusive control of the state government. The
question is: has governor Godswill Obot Akpabio
been remitting funds standing to the credit of local
government councils in the state to them as and
when or has he been deducting same? Let Akpabio
answer this question with relevant documents,
facts figures and the whole world will know who is
telling the truth and who should be held liable for
the suffering of these teachers. This is a challenge.
Also, the state government has been hiding under
the notorious veil of endless “verification exercise”
as the reason for delay in payment of salary to
primary school teachers. This is itself ludicrous.
What is the government always verifying year in,
year out? Presently, the state government is hiding
under yet another nebulous verification exercise
(this time biometric) as the reason for not paying
these poor teachers their salaries for the months of
June and July. How come that their secondary
schools counterparts are not being subjected to
the same tormenting treatment?
The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)
which is legally responsible for the recruitment and
welfare of primary school teachers has become a
very clandestine and unaccountable entity for
“empowering” political allies. The board has been
severally accused of corruption by teachers and
public commentators. A teacher in one of the
primary schools in Uyo, the state capital, bluntly
told this writer that SUBEB is a trading center
where only the highest bidder gets attention.
Sadly, the state branch of the Nigerian Union of
Teachers (NUT) is almost worse than useless. NUT
in Akwa Ibom is anything but a union. Successive
leadership of the body seems to be trading away
the rights and privileges of primary school
teachers for 40 pieces of silver.
While delivering a paper titled: “Transforming
Nigeria’s Economy: Opportunities and Challenges”
on Saturday 31st May, 2014 at the Babcock
University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, the Finance
Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, had listed Akwa
Ibom State as the first among the 10 highest
revenue receiving states in the country. She put
the total amount of allocation to the state from the
Federation Account for year 2013 at 260 billion
naira. Further analysis of this amount according to
the Minister shows that the state allocation during
the year exceeded the budgets of most
neighbouring countries like Liberia, Gambia, among
others. The state is still leading other states in
revenue. The question is; where is our money?
Admittedly, the Godswill Akpabio-led government
has made appreciable impact in infrastructural
development, but then, it will be wrong to rate and
assess the performance of a government without a
dispassionate reference to indices like revenue,
land mass and population.
So much has been said about the much publicised
“free and compulsory education” of the Akpabio’s
administration, but very little objective attention
has been paid to the quality of this education and
the welfare of teachers, particularly primary school
teachers. For me, the welfare of teachers in the
state represents the true face of the free and
compulsory education policy of Governor Akpabio.
There are myriads of inadequacies in that policy
ranging from poor infrastructure to lack of proper
supervision. But those are issues for another day.
It is unthinkable that a man who recently
sponsored a Bill and compelled the State House of
Assembly to pass same into law which entitles
him to 200 million naira annual pay in pension
with other ostentatious benefits after office will be
owing primary school teachers their stipends.
What a sad commentary, such a wicked world!
I am not oblivious of the likely reaction of the
governor, his yes men and praise singers to this
article, but I am more mindful of the verdict of
history. These teachers have suffered enough,
their tears is my zeal. We cannot be talking about
uncommon transformation when those who strive
to lay a foundation for the next generation are
crying to bed with empty stomach.
A labourer deserves his wages. If not for anything,
governor Akpabio should act now in memory and
honour of his late mother who was also a primary
school teacher. It will be disastrous to allow the
next administration inherit the problems besetting
primary school teachers in the state. And the time
to act is now.

That said, Wike has succeeded in dividing the state for GEJ, He may win in 2015 but not as convincely as in 2011 cos this time around, Amaechi, Ikru, Dakuku, Abe, Tony Okocha, Igoma, Wokekoro and other APC political heavy weights can't lose in their wards in the Presidential Election ( Yes, the DSS should arrest them). How does that spell out for the President? Remember during the election proper, everyone will go to his/her unit to cast their votes and not on the NLand on GEJTill2019.

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has
passed a resolution directing the clerk of the
House, Maikeffi Ego, to petition the National
Judicial Council [NJC] asking the commission to
punish the state chief Judge, Justice Suleiman
Dikko.
The House also suspended Tanko Tunga [APC,
Awe North constituency] over alleged gross
misconduct and attempt to disrupt the House
sitting during the last sitting of the Assembly.
Mr. Tunga is to remain suspended for six months
and would be paid half salary during the period.
The lawmakers, who have been staying in Abuja
since the beginning of the impeachment saga,
arrived the assembly around 9.30 a.m. in a
convoy of over 17 vehicles and escorted by
security operatives.
Few minutes before their arrival, 17 Hilux vans
packed with security operatives, took over the
premises of the state assembly. An armoured
personnel carrier was also stationed within the
premises.
The lawmakers upon arrival, and on their way to
the Assembly, were welcomed and cheered by a
mammoth crowd of supporters at the state
secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP )
along Jos road Lafia.
After an executive session, the House dissolved
into plenary. First it suspended its rule to allow the
presentation of two issues of public interest — the
motion on the state chief Judge and the
suspension of Mr. Tunga.
The sitting, which was attended by 18 of the 20
PDP lawmakers and the House minority leader,
Adamu Maikatako (APC, Lafia Central], had only
those two motions in the order paper.
The motion on the chief judge, moved by the
House majority leader, Godiya Akwashiki [PDP
Nasarawa Eggon West constituency] concerned the
composition of the seven-man panel by Justic
Dikko to investigate the alleged 16-count
impeachment charges leveled against Governor
Umaru Tanko Al – Makura.
Moving the motion, Mr. Akwashiki said the action
of the chief judge on the composition of the seven-
man panel contradicted section 188, subsection 5
of the Nigerian constitution.
He said that despite a resolution of the House
urging the chief judge to disband the panel over
the inclusion of card-carrying members of a
political party and a government employee, the
Chief Judge failed to reconstitute the panel.
The motion, which was seconded by Yahaha
Usman [PDP, Toto Umaisha constituency], was
unanimously passed by the house.
The motion for the suspension of Mr. Tunga was
brought by Baba Ibaku [PDP, Udege look
constituency].
Mr. Ibaku, who is chairman of the House
committee on Information, said the conduct of the
APC lawmaker at the last sitting of the House was
against the Assembly rule.
He alleged that the suspended lawmaker attempted
to steal the mace, which is the authority of the
House, and in the process pushed the Speaker,
Musa Ahmed Mohammed [PDP, Nasarawa Central].
The motion was seconded by Agyo Mesa,
representing Lafia North.
The suspended member, who represents Awe
South, was placed on half salary and is to serve
six-month suspension.
The speaker, Mr. Mohammed, directed the clerk to
petition the NJC on Justice Dikko and
communicate Mr. Tunga on his suspension.
The House then adjourned to Tuesday at 9.am.
The lawmaker’s next move against Governor Al-
Makura is unclear. But there have been reports
that the PDP legislators were bent on removing the
governor from office even after the investigative
panel that probed allegations of gross misconduct
against him cleared him.
Mr. Al-Makura’s party, the All Progressives
Congress [APC] had on Sunday condemned the
renewed plan by the Assembly to impeach the
governor, saying the state lawmakers were bent on
thumbing their nose at the Constitution in their
desperation to remove Mr. Al-Makura.

Ijaws really don't need to fight over Ph, once they leave with the offshore oil allocations of Rivers state and the oil companies forced to relocate to their new state, your Ph will decay from lack of poor funds for maintenance, i don't see the people from Orashi agreeing to any arrangement that would siphon the proceeds from their onshore oil wells to Ikwerre City, when they have their own city in Omoku to build, the Etches have Omuma to build, Ndoki and Asa have Oyigbo to build, Ogonis have Bori to develop. The wind of true federalism is about blowing, the era when proceeds from oil wells from other people's lands were used to build Ikwerreland, while you mufus go about talking trash is about coming to an end.
