The companies that bought it. Conglomeration of more than 3 companies with Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom having some shares. For convenience they are called PHED for distribution cos the Federal still controls that.

atlwireles: That is the problem, with people on this forum. Odilli spent 8 years building what he called power plant, Amaechi has taken over and we were told he finished the project. Why are these plants not working? Is the central government still the problem? Abi, rivers state lacks gas too? Power is great in my part of delta, I know is not the same across the country, but rivers should not be in the same position as states crying about bad power.

Odili only succeeded in building less than 139mW of gas turbine which he didn't even finished. Amaechi completed it and added more than 400mW and is currently building 150mW at Afam. Amaechi won't join issues with the lies that he Odili has been spreading because of the mutual respect he has for him. That said, Rivers currently contribute 1/4th to the entire power generation of the country (cos they were sent to the national grid). PH poor power supply should be explained by the DISCO incharge or NERC as the case may be cos the state government has fulfilled their own quarter. Why not let the states distributes to their capacity instead of selling to their cronies. The amount of power Rivers State govt generates can sufficiently serve her and may be Abia State. Enough said.

We need to pray to which ever God we serve, cos this govt that always looks for who to blame don't have the capacity to arrest the situation. This is an excerpt from someone's comment on a health section thread. I will soon acknowledge it very soon.

When SARS (Severe acute respiratory syndrome) broke
out between November 2002 and July 2003, we saw how

what do you think? Since it is the West that has been
voting for and electing our leaders since 1999.
Are people not aware of the fact that from the beginning
of time, epidemics and pandemics of diseases have
always been with us? I just wonder why some people
keep saying this is the end times...lol! Diseases and
outbreaks have been with humanity right from day one.

I keep saying it. What we need is society concious government. I do not see American doctors asking for increased wage due to the talk of Ebola in their country. What we should be fighting for now is
Government should provide all necessary things to help doctors perform their jobs.
Give patients gloves and face masks as they enter the hospital premises.
Any one that presents with fever should be moved to another waiting room.
Equip and train doctors on how to handle Ebola patients
Creat emergency room where Ebola patients can be isolated while undergoing treatment.
Follow strict hygiene in the hospitals.
And also go on social media and tell people what to look out for and how to protect themselves incase a family member presents with Ebola symptoms.
And of course pay all our health workers well to motivate them to work(before doctors chop my ears off) . Not because of Ebola of course. For Ebola it's not money that is important cos its all man at risk here.( Yes, doctor can infect patients too so it's not like only doctors are at risk.) for Ebola doctors need good equipments, materials to enable them handle this Ebola without exposing themselves to the infection that way patients who are Ebola free will not go to cure malaria and return with his mess and Ebola as Jara.

Nice, but how do you get the confidence of striking Doctors back to work knowing they will be returning to a more deadlier situation they left it before the strike.

TBH, the strike was a blessing in disguise, what if that victim was admitted to a public hospital?

These profession deserves whatever they feel are necessary to save lives. If we can loan $billions for our soldiers, then I think the health workers deserve the same treatment.

The Presidency has announced the attainment of 8, 000MW electricity generation capacity in the country .
This entire volume of power according to Presidency cannot be generated due to non -alignment of gas
infrastructure and transmission facilities .
Speaking exclusively with Nigerian NewsDirect , Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP ) ,
Engr . Reynolds Beks Dagogo- Jack stated that Nigeria has 8, 000 MW of electricity constructed but cannot be
produced as a result of poor planning in the past . This , he blamed on ownership of all power assets
completely by the government , power stations and very poor management of all assets in the value chain
for power production.
“ Planning was not where it should be . Projects were not where they should be . Alignment of plans and
projects were not in synch . The bottom line was that with such terrible conditions’ the industry capacity of
the country does not align . You can have capacity in generation , I have just told you that we have the
means to generate about 8, 000MW of electricity constructed and ready to fire up. However, these power
stations cannot produce because we don’ t have enough gas . They cannot go because of the poor planning
in the past , ” he lamented.
Dagogo-Jack explained that if a country is to have 8, 000 MW of generation and about 65percent of that is
fueled by natural gas , it means that the system should at least be ready with the amount of gas in place at
the point of inaugurating the power plants . According to him , this has not been the case in the past . We had
plans and projects implemented in staccato , they were not in alignment. Some projects which ought to have
been completed before others suffered slippages. So , you have to wait for the other projects to catch up. ”
However, the Chairman of PTFP stressed that it is not as bad as we paint it because every day , projects are
being progressed steadily to close these gaps . The gaps , he claimed are being closed . “ Things are
happening. Procurement is ongoing , Projects are being constructed and being pressured for prompt delivery .
The key issue is the public expectation of instant arrival of 24- hour service. Indeed , at all levels of gas
production process we are making a lot of progress , ” he noted
Assuring Nigerians of government’ s unflinching efforts to achieve stable power in the nearest future , Dagogo
said: “ There will be adequate power supply in the near future , and the fundamental for this expectation is
already well on ground and not in the air. I will give you some examples. In 2010 , total constructed available
power that can come on the National Grid was 4 ,500 MW. In 2014 , total constructed available power that can
be brought to the grid is about 8, 000MW. Does that not look like progress to you? To this extent , if
somebody tells you that we are still where we were in 2010 , you have to look at him in the face and ask him
to have a rethink .
“ Nigeria had diverse energy mix, including alternative fuel sources , such as natural gas , coal , small and
large hydro , solar and wind.
Dagogo-Jack said this was the best mix for any long -term investor seeking to make the best out of fuel
sources .
He explained that successfully managing the nation ’ s energy sector would have huge multiplier effects on
the economy.
“ Nigeria has the best potential in Africa for translating electricity expansion into diversified economic base
for sustained GDP growth .
“ President Goodluck Jonathan set up the task force to ensure proper implementation of the reform in the
power sector . The Federal Government is rigorously pursuing the reform agenda to make sure infrastructure
in the power sector is taken to the next level.
However, he said that a reform anywhere in the world comes with challenges . “ There is no history of a
major reform process where everybody cooperated and allowed a hitch-free delivery . There is the area of
internal and external levels of resistance which had to be managed with tact and wisdom .
“ The people who benefit from the inefficiencies are always afraid of any change which could affect their
interests. The fear of the unknown generated reactions from all angles . The people who benefitted from the
high level of inefficiencies before the reform such as the generator and the diesel salesmen among others , all impact on the agenda .
“ We were constantly engaging the people who would like to maintain the status quo. We kept replanning and re- engaging to keep the momentum steady . This is in no small measure due to the unwavering leadership of the government of President Jonathan for his patience and commitment , ” he stated .

I was watching KAAKI this morning on AIT this morning on Osun State election. The guests they invited were all PDP members and sympathizers. They were all one sided in their responses on question on securities. Even the moderator was economical with her questions. Seems she was acting on an existing script. To be frank, I feel more comfortable these days watching NTA than AIT.

You can actually dualised as much roads as possible with lesser budget compared to what we have here in down south, where for a road with lets say without bridges, you will to excavate as some point close to 4-6ft to get the engineering soil. You can then sand filled all through before the compaction and thereafter sub base which is usually thicker. At some terrain, you may require to cast the road even after the sandfilling. My point, the soil in Enugu is favourable for both the contractor and govt since the former can actually start his compaction work with same soil maybe after his earthwork while latter can spend relatively far lesser and thus can construct as much.

Disadvantages
Just red roofs

eaglechild: I think this may have been posted before, and I don't know the progress so far, but these are some of the major roads under construction.

From what I have seen in Enugu roads construction. The govt don't spend that much due to the favourable soil you guys have. If na down here south. The excavation and sand filling would be another job before the main construction. I did enjoyed the city the last time I came.

From the comments on this thread, it is obvious that Okorocha is only hated because he is in APC. Let me tell you about something, a neighbour of mine once told me here in PH that Rochas is saviour to Imolites that my Governor Amaechi should go and learn his education policy. We had banter then and stuffs like that. Fast forward 2years after. This man sings a different tone on Rochas and Amaechi he once held in high esteem cos they are in APC.

The four LGAs that make Ogoni are in my Senatorial district. As a neighbour, Ogoni is more of a brother to me than my nearer neighbour Andoni (ask any OG for confirmation). The non implementation of UNEP report is as a result of sabotage from a small section of leaders from their people. Why would an Ogoni accept the position of HYPREP chair or even the formation when it is contrary to the UNEP report? Is a shame SHELL is taking advantage of the political situation in the country to shift the blame solely on FG when they know they are also guilty of nonchalant attitude. I only hope the clean up should kickoff in earnest.

Blame game wont help the situation. Work should start.
