I =have read of people being evived after being underwater for up to 30 minues.

My elder brother's wife can even stay under water for close to 2hours. Most times, people that lost their lives in some of these boat mishap are very good swimmers. I remember a year I was supposed to return from my town (not village) when we heard of boat mishap and the causalities were very good in water.

Life jacket works depending on the current of the water the jacket is been used, the essence of life jacket is to suspend you for the time been when there is an accident pending when you will have rescue operatives. Bonny water especially this Peterside area is something else, the wave there can scare the hell out of someone. I won't be surprise if some of those victims died as a result of fear.

Inability to Stop Ebola Outbreak in Rivers State.
Pastor Jerry Needam, Special Adviser to the Rivers
State PDP Chairman on media has berated the
Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi
Amaechi for his inability to block Ebola virus
outbreak in Rivers State, calling the governor weak
and careless in safeguarding the health of Rivers
people.
In a statement made available to news men on
Thursday in Port Harcourt, Jerry Needam accused
Governor of criminally abdicating his responsibility
of being the Chief Security Officer of the State,
thereby negligently allowing an Ebola patient entry
into Port Harcourt, a development he notes has
endangered the health of the residents of the State.
Jerry Needam warned that the Rivers PDP under the
able leadership of Bro Felix Obuah and Chief Barr
Nyesom Wike will hold Governor Amaechi strictly
responsible for any death recorded in the state as a
result of the Ebola infection, stressing that God will
require the blood of innocent Rivers people of the
Governor.
He wondered why the governor, strong as he is
noted to be, is unable to detect the entrance of
Ebola infected patience into the State, advising the
Governor to always be on ground to know who is
entering into the state and who is going out.
As a precautionary measure, Jerry Needam declared
that the PDP in the State will create centers where
patients with the virus will be treated free of charge,
hinting that the PDP in the State has already
concluded plans with specialist doctors from the
United States of America to fly into the State to
assist with vaccines and treatment. Jerry Needam
started that the party has decided to take that
measure to safeguard the health of the people, since
the Governor has failed to stop the outbreak of Ebola
in Rivers State.
