This is incredible! This is a country with visionary leaders, it's the little things that show how much a country cares for its citizens. My country on the other hand will manage to tar a road and bring cameras to capture it plus a 30mins session on TV called 'ANAMBRA IS WORKING'

Politics / Re: Meet The Young Nigerians Who Betrayed The Future In 2015 by kelechiMarie(f): 3:13pm On Jan 12, 2018
Like someone's said up there, they lacked foresight. Young as I was in 2015, I knew there was no way Buhari was going to be Nigeria's saviour, he was old, vindictive and had a less than admirable track record. I wasn't pro-Jonathan but it was so easy to see, that is if you thought properly, that Buhari was far from being a better option. The same way Atiku is not Nigeria's saviour!

I guess we all make mistakes that's why apologies exist, it is however surprising that in the face of even worse hardship and circumstances (than in the GEJ era), majority of them are as quiet as a mouse. Liver nor dey again?

Come 2019 ,whoever we elect Nigerians have to come to a point where they demand accountability and more from their leaders. If your leaders refuse to be responsible, make them! And most importantly say no to recycled leaders, the same forces that didn't allow you to succeed in your previous stint with government are still existing. If you couldn't do it then, you can't do it now.

I don't care what the woman did, I don't care if she was disrespectful or rude or whatever, was the man blind when he married her? Do men not have their own faults? Abandoning your kids for whatever reason is a no-no and in fact unforgivable in my opinion. You have four children and you're camping with a side chic, trust me those children will not listen to your excuses on why you were not there for them or why you ran out on them.

when you are not olosho, why are you angry about it? We are just advocating chastity. Btw, are you single?
Oh I'm not angry, far from it. I'm all for chastity but I also know people have the right to live their lives as long as they make the right decisions. It's quite immature for you to assume every lady who has had sex is a prostitute, you and I know fully well how most guys blow these things out of proportion. Guys be claiming they've been there, done that when it's a lie. BTW chastity cuts both ways you know.

seriously it has to stop especially here on Niaraland , if u argue with a guy the next thing u hear is "Olosho". the painful part of it is that they assume every female here is single and searching not minding the fact that there are lots of married women on this forum . Men should learn to show respect to women .
bikonu these ones are not men. Half of the things they say here on Nl, they wouldn't dare in real life, heck most of them are begging for dates in real life. Just ignore most of the time and know when to give them their medicine hot.

So I decided to completely read through the thread and boy did I find it hilarious! Most of Africa is still in the dark ages and these ones are here fighting. If you say your country (be it Nigeria,Ghana, South Africa) is better then why are you so bothered about other people's opinions. It's like someone telling you Nigeria is wayyy better thàn America, it's laughable and there's no need to break heads over such a baseless argument.
I just hope you guys are not like this in real life though. By the way after all your fighting, your politicians who are tight buddies ,will still collectively sell your birthrights. Africa my Africa

True ,south Africa is more developed than Nigeria even though they're steadily going backwards with Zuma's policies. However, the only problem I find with this thread is the OP's need to gloat( for lack o a better word). It is like chest beating, a childish game of my mother is better than yours. I find it ridiculous and a bit hilarious that you need to validate yourself or your country in this way and on a Nigerian forum at that. Anyway to each his own, it's not like Nigerians really care about Nigeria so.....

Romance / Re: Why Relationships Don't Last Long In This Era by kelechiMarie(f): 6:28pm On Dec 27, 2017
Relationships don't last long because we are selfish, irresponsible and very much unwilling to take the blames for our mistakes. On nairaland here, no matter what happens it is usually the fault of the woman , in some other places it's vice versa. This generation has unrealistic expectations, we want our lives to be some sort of reality show. Many guys are superficial, they want to be playboys; have women at their beck and call and at the same time want that special woman who will love them unconditionally. Many girls want the money and all that but are still looking for true love or whatever. This new generation ignites quickly and also burns out as easy, nobody wants to be friends first. We have invented terms like the friendzone, to slyly imply that if you don't get down to action quickly you're a loser of some sorts.
It's always funny to me when someone gives the excuse being heartbroken to break other hearts, honey it is a vicious cycle; the person who broke your heart was probably a nice girl too once upon a time and you are also going to break a nice person's heart and turn them to a monster. I have been broken , I have been assaulted but I refuse to let that cloud my judgement because I know good people still exist. That's the problem with us, we allow our experience to determine our default settings, I say we're all fuckin.g cowards who are too afraid to love or commit.
Let us keep on with the blame games and take no responsibility and let's clink glasses to more "broken" hearts

That's why you lack understanding. That verse is comparing the adornment of a worldly bride/groom with the spiritual clothing God gives to His people(robe of righteousness). That verse does not in anyway support jewelry or to be worn on special occasion.

Here is another comparison in the Bible:- Jesus said His coming will be like that of a thief, Then does that mean because Jesus compared His coming to that of a thief now means to become a thief is right My dear a carnal mind will never understand the things of the spirit!!!
cheesy cheesy if you had read your Bible well or researched into Ancient Israel, you'd realize that jewelry was worn and makeup was used. The only reason there was a comparison was because brides in those days did wear jewelry, stop being ridiculous. By the way, go ahead and read the other passages. If you say jewelry is a sin that's totally your problem but you can't deny that jewelry was worn in Bible times. I rarely use jewelry and do not like makeup so I'm not making a case for myself. You sound like God's special assistant, chief controller spiritual matters, you have the power to determine who's carnal and spiritual by your own yardstick. Oh well, it's a huge relief you're neither God,Jesus nor one of the apostles.

Wawu!! I just realized it's the same moniker I was previously replying. God help me and my eyes.

Which special occasion did bible mention for wearing jewelry U are busy interpreting bible to your own destruction!

We were commanded to look unto Jesus as our perfect example, how many jewelry did Jesus had when He was on earth
Calm down and Read Isaiah 61 first now or is it not a part of the Bible? The chapter talks about the year of the Lord's favour and verse 10 says : I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,my soul shall be joyful in my God for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ORNAMENTS,and as a bride adorneth herself with her JEWELS. See also 1SOS 1:10, Ezekiel 16:17 etc
Sorry about the caps, I don't know how to embolden words here.

so wearing jeans and shirts are carnal? Okay
I'm reading this post and it feels like you're shouting at me, so I've decide to not reply anymore. We do not argue to win but to learn, you have obviously chosen the former path so much for your supposed "open mindedness".
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Apostle Paul in the first century was addressing issues with epistles, logical arguments based on the Bible etc. We're in the 21st century ,you can't be replying with things like " you're carnal" or the popular " I pay my tithe come and beat me" to matters that concern the church. It is a cheap and emotional route and it has no effect.
Have a nice day spirit.

You are beating about the bush! Show me the different bible versions that says Esther adorned herself with makeup or jewelry before seeing the King Besides, God made gold for practical uses and not for adornment. When the Israelite left Egypt, the gold/silver they collected serve as a money for their long time slavery to the Egyptians, they didn't collect it for fashion/adornment. That's why when it was required later time in the wilderness for the construction of the terbanacle and for other needs, they all gave willingly. Read your bible with an open mind!!!
read Isaiah 61 and also some parts of Ezekiel. In Bible times, jewels were also for adornment and special occasions. That's why God said He'll take away their Jewels and leave their necks bare(Israelites) when they strayed from him as a sign of shame. Jewels were seen as huge thing, a precious thing back then that's why giving it as an offering unto God was special. In today's world , your devotion and TIME is precious, it's special to give it to God cause it costs a lot.

From your comment, the problem u have is you are carnal! Mention the church doctrine that u say we take as Bible commandments let's see if truly it is bible commandments or not
did you see the part that followed? How is wearing jeans carnal? What is wrong in not wearing turban and that pleated skirt? My roommate then doesnt even wear shirts because she thinks it's sinful.FYI, Kumuyi's second wife doesn't wear those things but does it make her carnal. The major problem with the church today and also deeper life is its members, you're here jumping on my post calling me carnal because I have a different point of view. Okay
Members who do not show love to their neighbours because they think they're better is simply fanaticism! You take things too personal and I bet if pastor Kumuyi hadn't come out to set things straight, you'd still believe television is a sin.
Biko, I addressed my former post to the op who is sensible and dear do me the favour of swerving out of my mentions.
Religion / Re: Deeper Life Bible Church: Facts No One Would Tell You About The Church by kelechiMarie(f): 10:06am On Dec 18, 2017
The only problem I have with deeper life members is that they take their church doctrines to be biblical commandments. That you don't wear jeans in your church doesn't mean it is a sin. No church is perfect and I admire Kumuyi for owning up to his mistakes. The truth is many members are fanatics, they hold on to these beliefs like it's the gospel...News Flash: it isn't.
@op please also answer this question; why do your members refuse to attend other churches? A friend told me it was a rule for workers that they must not be seen in other fellowships, how true is it?

Do what works for you. There are companies who prefer HND graduates, others B.Sc. Then there are some who will not even call you for an interview if there's no 'Oxford' or 'Harvard' somewhere on your CV.
At the end of the day, it's always best to work towards being an employer of labour wherever you find yourself, instead of being a professional employee.
yeah but the op is only giving logical advice based on the current reality. I have seen firsthand how HND holders are discriminated and getting that degree isn't worth it.
To the last part of your post, ever wondered what the world will be like if we all became employers of labour? Just like you said do what works for you, some people fulfil purpose by serving and helping others. I know we all want to be like Bill G but there's nothing wrong with being the behind the scenes guy
