Business / Onitsha Traders Protest Alleged Reappoint Of Caretaker Chairman, Chief Ezebunanw by kenechukwujeo50: 8:10pm On Jun 28, 2022
...Urges Soludo To Withdraw His Appointment And Replace Old Members With New Ones

Traders of Onitsha Main Market under the aegis of Zone 3 Stakeholders, comprising of all chairmen and secretaries of Zone 3 of Main Market, Onitsha, last weekend, protested inside the market, kicking against a proposed reappointment of one Chief Robinson Ezebunanwa, a two-time caretaker chairman of Zone 3, to continue in that position.

They carried placards with inscriptions: "Onitsha Main Market traders say no to re-apointment of Robinson Ezebunanwa," "Robinson Ezebunanwa is one of the problems of Onitsha Main Market "Gov. Soludo, withdraw Robinson Ezebunanwa; he is part of problems of our market," among others.

The stakeholders, who spoke through their leaders, Chief Obinna Nduakor, Goodluck Offor and Mrs Monica Maduka, (Woman leader of Zone 3) noted that they embarked on the protest to alert state government on the need for it to carry majority of the traders along in appointments.

While commending Gov Soludo on his policies on markets in the state, they appealed to him not to retain any member of old caretaker executives, who were among those sacked by the state; rather, it should appoint fresh people to inject new ideas into the market.

On Chief Robinson Ezebunanwa, they stated that the man has been one of the problems of the market, as indicated by history. They insisted that the traders don't want Ezebunanwa to be there.

They insisted that the man has over stayed; and is part of impunities committed during the past regime, and should be avoided by any decent administration.

"We, the Zone 3 stakeholders, are urging the governor to withdraw Ezebunanwa. The entire Zone 3 traders and, infact, the entire Main Market traders, have rejected him.

"We are aware that he has been going about bribing some key government appointees. This man has been caretaker chairman of London Line for 25 years, without election and functional executive. Gov Soludo should withdraw him for peace to raign; as traders will not cooperate with his leadership," they added.

Politics / Some Igbo Politicians Are Sabotaging Peter Obi's Presidential Ambition - Rev. Nw by kenechukwujeo50: 7:56pm On Jun 28, 2022
The Senior Pastor of the Bible Base Miracle Assembly, Rev Dr Jerry Nwachukwu, has called on Igbo politicians and stakeholders to stop sabotaging the presidential ambition of the Labour Party candidate, and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi.

Speaking during during a midweek service at his church located at No 19 Ezendu Street, Off Mercedes Avenue, Nkpor, Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, the cleric expressed sadness that instead of encouraging Obi, and supporting his presidential ambition, as a way of actualizing Igbo presidency, some key Igbo politicians and clergymen rather chose to sabotage the ambition.

He said: "I must say this with every sense of responsibility that Peter Obi's decision to join Labour Party is a sacrifice he is making for the entire Southeast.

"He saw impunities in the PDP that could not permit him to actualize the ambition of having Nigerian president of Igbo extraction. That was why he took the bold step of joining the Labour Party.

"This is a collective project for the Southeast, and that of Nigerians, who love equity, justice and fair play. Since inception, Southeast has not produced president for the country Political equation of this country has not balanced.

"Therefore, any Igbo politician speaking against Peter Obi's presidential ambition, or any Igbo clergyman speaking against this project from his pulpit, is a sabourteur. They are incurring the wrath of God and of the people."

Rev. Nwachukwu noted that under a free, fair and credible presidential election, Peter Obi will coast home with victory; because, according to him, Obi is a tested and trusted administrator, who has all it takes to turn the fortunes of the country around. Age and history of good governance also flavour him," Rev Nwachukwu added.

Nairaland / General / 2021 Prediction: God Has Given Me Name Of Obiano’s Successor – Fr. Ebube Muonso by kenechukwujeo50: 6:49am On Jan 01, 2021
-         Fiery Catholic priest says outcome of Anambra election’ll surprise many

-         Predicts another fierce protest targeting corrupt politicians

-         Urges Buhari, Osinbajo to resign

Rev. Fr. Obimma Emmanuel, aka Fr. Ebube Muonso, the Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, and the Rector of the Blessed Iwene Tasnsi Pilgrimage Center, Umudioke, both in Anambra State, has made a forecast into year 2021, predicting trouble for corrupt politicians, surprising emergence of next Anambra governor, death of high profile politicians, among other predictions.

According to him, “God has revealed a lot of things to me concerning year 2021, and what it holds in stock for Nigerians and the world. Some are good and some are not good. But I pray that the spirit of God will take absolute control of negative events and postulations for year 2021.

“At the political front, I foresee change of power. In Anambra, outcome of the November 2021 governorship election will shock many. As you can see, many are jostling for the governorship seat, but God has already given me name of the person that will take over from Obiano. The Holy Spirit told me God has strengthened the person to take Anambra to the next level. When I was praying for good governance in Anambra, the Holy Spirit revealed to me the fall of an empire; fall of an empire. The Holy Ghost opened my eyes and I saw an empire overthrowing another empire. God showed me the man that will take Anambra to the next level, and his name also appeared. When the name appeared, I prayed to God, and God said this is the one I want.”

The cleric, fondly called Ebube Muonso (Glory of the Holy Ghost) because of his attachment the Holy Spirit, also said his vision and prediction never failed. He said: “The Holy Ghost has never given me any vision and failed. Ever since I was born; ever since I became priest; the Holy Ghost has never given me a failed prophecy. None of my prophesies failed. In 2015, when I was telling Nigerians that Buhari would win presidential election, but that Nigerians would suffer; people didn’t take it serious. It came as a result of revelation. When I was telling our people that Hope Uzodinma, who took the 4th position during the Imo State governorship election, would eventually become governor, people did not understand it. I told people that Willie Obiano would win his first tenure. I also did so during his second term election. God’s ways are not our ways. In 2021 governorship election, the electorate is going to do conscience voting; not money voting. The people will no more vote based on religious affiliation, creed or political platform. That is how the new order will come, and people will be surprised. God has revealed the man to me. It does not matter whether he is a Catholic or Pentecostal or Anglican. The important thing is that he is a good man; he is selfless. He is actually the person destined to take the mantle from Willie Obiano to continue where he stops. God revealed to me that the next government in Anambra will be better than what we have today.”

In the area of insecurity, he expressed worry that crime wave and corruption are increasing by the day, and charged the president and his vice to resign for their alleged failure to secure Nigerian citizens. “The president of this country has failed the people. Insecurity has snowballed considerably in the recent years. I can see another protest coming; this time, it is going to be something fiercer than EndSARS. Politicians have really failed Nigeria and its people because of their selfishness. If I were President Mohammadu Buhari, I would have resigned long ago. I am particularly worried that the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, would allow himself to be soiled in a corrupt system. I am sorry to sound this way. Politicians have killed the future of our youths; they have mortgaged the future of our youths. I pray that a youth president will emerge in 2023. The Holy Ghost revealed to me that a youth president will change the face of this country. We have a lot of them; experts for that matter, who can change the face of Nigeria; but the problem is that they were sidelined and elbowed out. They are not given the chance to showcase their potentials.”

On COVID-19, Fr. Ebube Muonso predicted that the second wave of the ailment, though fiercer, would not take the life of anybody among the faithful. “Again, in the spirit realm, God released a wind of divine security upon His people. Many people are afraid of COVID-19; but God says they should not be afraid. The second wave of COVID-19 is here; but the same God that protected His people during the first one is saying He will also protect us this time around. I am not saying Nigerians should not apply the necessary protocols to check the pandemic; but that one is a physical measure. Let us be conscious of the fact that the spiritual control the physical. I want the faith of the children of God to be raised high. Have faith in the lord. Even though the second wave of the pandemic is going to be fierce, yet, it is not for our country Nigeria. The Almighty God says that in 2021, He will make our atmosphere unconducive for the coronavirus. Bill Gate and his wife predicted that COVID-19 would descend mightily upon Africans; but his prediction was not of God.  As you can see, God has different purpose concerning us. He will not allow negative prediction to prevail. I am active in my prophecy against COVID-19. The first one came and was gone. The second one has also come; but God says He will also protect us. No hair shall be lost.”

He continued: “God has also revealed to me the death of high profile political leaders; but those that hope in the lord shall renew their strength.  They shall move from strength to strength. For members of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry worldwide, year 2021 is going to be an extra ordinary year of thanksgiving, songs and praises. The Holy Ghost says we should praise God; because, when we praise Him, He will continue to do more.”

He also urged the faithful to live the life of appreciation in 2021, saying that thanksgiving is what God desires from His people to lift them higher in 2021. He said: “God says we should live the life of appreciation. He says we should show love to others and also live the life of prayer. There is no problem you cannot settle with prayer. Prayer is very essential in the life of every Christian. God says if there is someone to pray, there is always the God to answer. God says for every Goliath in the front of you, there is always a stone. So, I encourage the people of God to pray. God is telling us to pray, thank Him and appreciate Him for His numerous blessings. 2021 is going to be year of extraordinary praise and thanksgiving.”

The cleric also commended the initiative of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in setting up a security outfit for the south east people; saying that every man has the right to life. “It is the duty of the federal government to protect the lives and property of the citizens. But, as you can see in our country, Nigeria, security is very porous. I will always tell people that I will not allow anyone to kill me and go for confession. If I noticed that you are a danger to me, or that you want to take my life, I will be the first person to open my trigger. Activities of herdsmen are becoming alarming. I am of the view that everybody should get himself armed. It is not correct that you are in your own soil and a visitor comes to your house to behead you, kill your children, and rape your daughters and wives. No, that nonsense must stop. How could one claim to be a herder, and will bear AK47 gun, and kidnap people? That is to say they have different agenda. Since they have different agenda, it is necessary that people of the south east should restrategise to combat their attacks.”

Politics / Controversy As Umuona Community Holds Town Union Election Amid COVID-19 Threat by kenechukwujeo50: 6:40am On Jan 01, 2021
Group, Concerned Citizens of Umuona Community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State has called on Governor Willie Obiano and the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Town Union Affairs, Mr. Greg Obi, not to recognize the Umuona Progressive Union (UPU) election purportedly held on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the community’s civic center.

In a press conference in the community, yesterday, leader of the group, Chukwujekwu Ezeokoli, flanked by Samuel Okoromike and Ejike Muobike, who claimed that the purported election did not go in line with the community’s constitution and COVID-19 protocols, said if necessary action is not taken by relevant authorities, by way of cancelling the said election, it might lead to breakdown of law and order in the town.

“Umuona community supposes to conduct its town union election on Monday, December 28. Before then, the town union, led by Dr. Silas Akanaeme, had sensitized the town on the need to observe COVID-19 protocols during the exercise, as directed by Governor Willie Obiano. It further directed that delegates for the said election should not be more than 50 persons, as required by Umuona Constitution and COVID-19 guidelines.

“When the traditional ruler of the town, His Majesty, Igwe Humphrey Ejesieme, arrived to flag off the election process, he saw large turnout of people, numbering over five thousand, inside one hall. He told the gathering that Governor Willie Obiano had directed communities that in every gathering or event, COVID-19 protocols must be followed. The monarch was worried that there was no hand washing buckets; social distancing protocol was not maintained, and overwhelming majority in the hall was not wearing protective masks.

“He told the community that as traditional ruler, he would not deviate from the instruction of the governor, and therefore, begged for suspension of the election, until such a time when COVID-19 modalities shall be put in place. He said the state government would blame him should any of his subjects contacts the pandemic under that circumstance. After the instruction, everybody, including the traditional ruler, left the arena; including those running for the post of president general. It was later in the day that we heard that another group of people secretly conducted an election. The out gone president general of the town, Dr. Silas Akaneme, was the only past executive member in their midst; all his executive members left, based on the instruction of the Igwe and that of COVID-19.

“We later discovered that the election was conducted without following the constitution, and without making use of delegates. We also heard that a 3-man committee appointed to organize the exercise was pushed out of the hall and another group of people conducted the election, where one Mr. Kenneth Okoli purportedly emerged as PG. From the result of the election, we observed that besides Mr. Kenneth Okoli and his secretary, other so-called elected ones came from the same village in the community.

“Even before that election, everybody was agitating that the constitution of the town must be followed for the conduct of any election, and whereby the constitution would not be followed, they had to set up constitution review committee to come up with modalities. We do not understand why constitution of our town will be set aside and another process used for the conduct of the election. We find it laughable. We even learnt that government delegation was bought over to conduct a kangaroo election in Umuona,” they said.

The group further said they notified the traditional ruler of their total rejection of the said election. “As concerned citizens of Umuona community, we warn all those purportedly elected, not to parade themselves as executives of Umuona Progressive Union, to avoid any breakdown of law and order,” they added.

Contacted, Igwe Ejesieme said he advised that the election be postponed because of non observance of COVID-19 rules. “Gov Obiano warned us to observe COVI-19 rules. When I entered the civic center and saw the atmosphere, I begged them to shift the election to a later date. That is all I can tell you for now,” he said.

Also contacted, the out-gone President General, Silas Ejikeme, said he was compelled to organize the said election, against the monarch’s instruction to the contrary, because, his tenure elapsed December 28, and did not have the constitutional power to continue in office.

Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Town Union Affairs, Mr Greg Obi, and leader of government delegation to the Umuona town union election, Mr. C.C Maduka, were not available for their comments as at the time of filling this report; but the Public Relations Officer in the ministry, Mr. Henry Nwasike, said the monarch did not have the power to stop the election in the first place.

Crime / Protests: Catholic Priest Mobilises Youths To Clean-up Onitsha; Calls For Calm by kenechukwujeo50: 4:23pm On Oct 25, 2020
By Kenechukwu

The Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Obimma Emmanuel, yesterday, mobilised youths to clean-up rubbish left in the streets and major roads of Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State, as a result of burn-fire made by #EndSARS protesters.

The Catholic priest, who personally joined in the clean-up exercise, also made available refuse disposal truck and his personal vehicle to help evacuate the rubbish.

Speaking during the exercise, Fr. Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muonso, called on the protesters to cease fire, in order to protect lives and property.

He said: "Nigerians, who are angry as a result of bad governance and systemic failure took to the streets to express their disappointment and anger. They have expressed their displeasure loud and clear.

"Mr. President and the south east governors have also addressed the protesting citizens, and have reiterated their readiness and willingness to address demands raised in the course of the protests.

"So, we lend our voices to those of well meaning Nigerians to call for ceasefire and calmness. The debris of what remains from the burn fire made by protesters is what we are out today to clean-up. As we do the clean-up, we call for calmness; because, we cannot bequeath a destroyed Nigeria to our children unborn."

Crime / How I Was Attacked By Cultists In My Village – Fr. Ebube Muonso by kenechukwujeo50: 2:01pm On Oct 20, 2020
From Nwagbo Kenechukwu, Nnewi

The founder and Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Idemili North local government area of Anambra state, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly called Fr. Ebube Muonso, has been a target of many attacks by alleged hired killers and suspected cultists. In this interview, the notable Catholic priest of the Onitsha Archdiocese, narrates how he narrowly escaped death in the hands of a cult group in his hometown, Nkwelle Ezunaka, in Oyi local government area of the state, who wanted him dead because of a sermon he preached in the church.

Recount your ordeal in the hands of a suspected cult group that attacked you recently in your community, Nkwelle Ezunaka.

The incident took place on June 12, 2020, in my community, Nkwelle-Ezunaka. I went for a burial at my community. The funeral started with a Holy Mass or church service at St. William’s Catholic Church in the community. In the course of my homily during the mass, I vehemently preached against cultism and cult groups, terrorism and hooliganism, which was common among young men in the community. Our youths are used to forming cult groups, which they use as weapon to intimidate people and unleash terror on innocent residents of my community. In my community, people, including the elders and the elites, sleep with their two eyes opened, because of cultists. Many elderly men and women in the community have been rough-handled, beaten and flogged by those hooligans.

So, during my preaching, I condemned their evil activities, and cautioned them. When I was preaching, the congregation was very happy, saying that they knew only Fr. Ebube Muonso could have the guts to speak out against the evil perpetrated by the cult groups; because, people live in fear in that village.

So, after the burial service, people were coming to me for blessing, including my mother, and I was laying hands on them. In the course of doing that, my mother invited me for a discussion at home. As I was discussing with her, my brother’s wife called my attention that some bad boys, popularly known as Searchlight, were outside the gate, chanting their war songs and saying that they would humiliate Fr. Ebube Muonso. I thought it was an empty threat. So, on my way going, they invaded me with dangerous weapons. They threw stones on me, smashing and damaging my vehicle. In the course of doing that, I had to put a call across, and, eventually, a combined team of police and army arrived and rescued me. Even when the soldiers arrived, the bad boys were still brandishing their weapons, and the soldiers threatened to shoot them; but I pleaded with them not shoot.

Ever since I was born, I’ve never been so attacked anywhere; not to talk of being attacked by my own people. I have been hearing of their nefarious activities in that community; but I was unmoving, because, I am a very busy person.

Eventually, after that incident, I wrote a petition against them. Eleven of them were arrested by police. They were tried in the court of law, and eventually remanded as a corrective measure to deter them and others from such act.

As if that was not enough, their sponsors and allies, who escaped arrest, started blackmailing me; peddling all sorts of falsehood against me on the social media. In their posts on the social media, they claimed that their reason attacking me was because I collected their lands; about 200 plots in Nkwelle-Ezunaka; whereas in reality, I do not have one plot of land in that village. The townspeople know the truth. They attacked me because I preached against cultism and their bad activities in the community.

Could you point out some of the nefarious activities of the Searchlight cult group?

Their nefarious activities are many. A lot of young girls have been raped. Parents, who send their daughters on errands in the community, get shocked when their girls return with the complaint that they were raped by Searchlight boys. They equally torture and flog elderly people, who kick against their activities. Story was told of a woman, who was going out one evening with his son for an errand. Unfortunately for her, the cult boys harassed her, beat her up and stripped her before her son; claiming that she looked at them. Whenever people have cases in the village, they would pay these bad boys to fight for them. In fact, for an average person in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, it would be better for a person to be taken to the police and charged to court than for one to fall into the hands of these boys. They had suppressed and inflicted injuries in many people. Imagine small boys flogging elderly people in the village. They engage in broad day robbery, and all forms of criminality. They would claim omnipotence and untouchable. People, I must tell you, are afraid of them. They constituted themselves as both police and the court of law; such that when you report a case to them against another person, they would go for war on your behalf. They will arrest, try, convict and punish their victims; after which the alleged offender will be made to cough out huge sum of money.

Has any family member or ally of those arrested approached or pacified you?

Yes, people have been coming to plead on their behalf, to the extent that I was moved to visit them when they were still in police custody. The day I visited them, my cook prepared good dish and we bought drinks. When we got to the station, they were brought out. After eating and drinking, I asked them, ‘my brothers, what did I do that you attacked me and wanted to take my life?’ They told me they acted under the influence of hard drugs. I then told my lawyer to halt any court process, and I also told him to start the process of securing their release. We were still in the process when, surprisingly, their parents, sponsors and allies started blackmailing me. They took to the social media, telling the world that they attacked me because I am a land grabber. They claimed that they were unjustly accused and remanded; adding that they attacked me because I took their lands; a claim they made to attract sympathy and to cover their iniquities. Indigenes of Nkwelle Ezunaka know that what they said were fallacies.

You are known to assist youths and the less privileged. Have you extended such gesture to youths in Nkwelle-Ezunaka?

I have empowered a good number of them. I’ve sent a good number of them abroad in order to improve their lives. I offered scholarships to the siblings and children of these people, who are after my life. Ebuka Obiozo, one of the cult boys that attacked me, was among the people I strived to lift out of poverty. I gave him money several times. It was because of him that I invited footballers like Emenike and Kanu Nwankwo to take him up in order to enhance his football career. I am yet to understand the core reason for the attack launched against me. I was made to understand that they were acting out the script of their sponsors. I believe they are doing this to intimidate me as they intimidate others; but Fr. Ebube Muonso cannot be intimidated!

How would you want government, the church, the family and wider society to nip cultism in the bud?

I advocate zero tolerance for cultism. The cult boys are into blood covenant. This is why they are so wicked and mean whenever they are handling people. Cultism should be given zero tolerance. Let the government empower the anti cult groups. Let personnel be recruited into the anti-cult unit of the police force so that cultism will be tackled.

How would the church and the family go into partnership to fight moral decadence among youths?

The church is doing a lot of work when it comes to youth reformations. This is why there are catechetic; that’s why there are services and formations in virtually all the churches. But you know, the church can only conscientise the youth to be of good behaviour; but when it comes to criminal matters, the security agencies will take over. But sometimes, when you are making efforts to correct somebody, you will find out that such person has become reprobate. At that stage, you use corrective measures, such as imprisonment, to call him back.

Have you forgiven your attackers?

I hold no malice against them. The reason they are still in the correctional facility is to discipline them; so that when they come out, they will become better and more responsible members of the society. They need to be tamed, so that they will understand that hooliganism is bad. I do not pray that they stay long in prison. My main aim is to tell them that what they did was wrong.

Anambra election is very close and many politicians are already seeking your blessings. What kind of person would you want as Obiano’s successor?

A person to succeed Obiano as governor shall be a seasoned gentleman. The person shall be a God-fearing man; a man, who must be ready to discharge the duties of his office conscientiously. He shall be the person who has the poor masses at heart. He shall be selfless, and must be ready to go extra miles to put smiles in the faces of Anambra people. I will commend Governor Willie Obiano for doing his bit, according to his ability and capacity. We pray that the person who succeeds Obiano will do more. Anambra is in dire need of a good governor, who is selfless; person who will not think of his pocket; but will listen to the heartbeats of the people.

You give yourself a lot of task. How do you relax?

The joy of the Lord is my strength. I am always happy doing the work of God. May people do call me, urging me to create time for relaxation and rest. But I must tell you, I am already used to the system, and my system has become acclimatized to my job. So, labour doesn’t disturb me at all. It will also interest you to know that I have the gift of night strength. I work at night and sleep a little; yet, I feel energised doing the work of God. As St. Paul would say, ‘Even when my outward self is perishing, inwardly, I feel refreshed.’

Politics / Alleged Character Deformation: Nnewi PDP Group Drags Chieftain, Others To Court by kenechukwujeo50: 4:17pm On Jul 01, 2020
By Mokwugwo Solomon

Group, PDP Stakeholders Forum, in Nnewi North local government area of Anambra state, has dragged some chieftains of the party to court over alleged conspiracy and defamation of character.

In a hearing at the Magistrate's Court of Anambra state in the Nnewi district, yesterday, the plaintiffs, Prince Chinedu Orizu, Hon Tempest Udeze, Dr Edwin Chukwuma, Prince Afam Orizu and Chief Eugene Okonkwo Nwizugbe, alleged that the defendants: Engr Joseph Ubah, Obinna Oguejiofor, Chinedu Ikemba, Chijojke Ofodile, Moses Anayo, Isaac Uchebuilo, Prince Samben Nwosu and Ernest Ajero, conspired among themselves to criminally defamed their characters.

In a twenty paragraph affidavit, the complainants alleged that the defendants, who are also members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Nnewi North local government area, went about in Nnewi, Abuja and other places, calling them criminals who go about defrauding innocent citizens in the name of the party; adding that all the allegations levelled against them were false.

Lead counsel for the complainants, Pascal Ugwuanyi, told the court that the 1st and 7th defendants, Joseph Ubah and Samben Nwosu respectively, could not be served, and prayed the court to grant leave to the plaintiffs to effect the service of court process on them through substituted means.

The presiding magistrate, H.C Emekwue, ordered that the 1st defendant be served by pasting the process at a conspicuous place within the court premises; while the 7th defendant should be served through the defendants' counsel, Mrs M.N. Emecheta. He adjourned the matter till July 21, 2020, for continuation of hearing.

Politics / Why Struggle For Biafra Has Not Been Successful - Rev. Nwachukwu by kenechukwujeo50: 2:38pm On Jun 23, 2020
Rev. Jerry Nwachukwu is the Senior Pastor of the Bible Base Miracle Assembly, Nkpor, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State. In this interview, he speaks on the consequences of lockdown on the Nigerian educational system, Igbo presidency, Biafra agitation, insecurity in Nigeria and other salient issues. Excerpts:

What is your advice to Nigerians, who say coronavirus does not exist?

As far as I am concerned, there is coronavirus in existence. In the eve of 2020; precisely, in the night of 31st December, 2019, when members of my church gathered to thank God for the passing year, and to welcome the New Year, I heard God clearly, when He told me that the world was going to witness a virus. He instructed us to take Holy Communion, which we did. He also told us to conduct anointing service against the virus; which we also did.

So, when the virus finally came, we were not surprised; because, the spirit of God had already made it known to me, and I also communicated same to my congregation.

My advice to Nigerians is that they should apply preventive measures as advised by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC, and the government; so that they will not contact the disease. I will advise citizens to always wash their hands, wear their face masks, observe social distancing and apply everything that is advised medically. I will also advise parents to teach their family members to observe same.

As leader of a church, I ensure that we have sanitizer, soap and buckets of water in the church, so that the congregation will always observe the necessary cleanliness and other preventive measures. In our church, we encourage members to wear their face masks. We don’t let people come into the church to worship without their face masks. We break our services so that there won’t be crowd. We do all these, because, prevention, they say, is better than cure.

What is your view on how government is handling the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria?

First of all, I must appreciate the government of the day for the level of assistance it has given to the citizens in this period of COVID-19. However, there are more to be done; because, the process is being sabotaged here and there. The person at the helm of affairs may detail his subordinates on what to do, but the subordinates may end up doing a different thing. That is the kind of problem we are experiencing in the management of the pandemic. For instance, there is interstate lockdown, but people still travel from state to state. Government has issued directive; but it will not be there to perform the duty of the security official at the border. The lockdown is not being properly observed. People still travel as they wish. Some of the taskforce members at different markets and other public places are not doing enough. The masses also, are not helping matters; because, when government says don’t travel, and we observe the directive not to travel, security agencies will have less work to do. When we’re told to wear face masks and observe social distancing, and we obey, the taskforce will not have much job to do.

I will also point out that there is enormous infrastructural decay in the Nigeria health institutions. There are so many things that suppose to be put in place at the hospitals that are not in their proper places. If what Nigeria needed to have in its health institutions were in place, management and containment of the pandemic would not have been problematic.

Do you support those suggesting that re-opening of churches and schools is not ripe yet?

I do not believe there is any church or school that is as big as the Onitsha Main Market, Bridge Head Market, Sabon Geri Market in Kano and some other markets across Nigeria. These markets bubble with activities, and have very large population of buyers and sellers. People that gather in those markets are more in population than people that gather in any church you can think of; yet, businesses in those markets go on unhindered.

Churches and schools should be re-opened, because, I see COVID-19 as a disease that will live with us until God decides otherwise. When churches were closed, people were contacting COVID-19; when it was re-opend, people were still contacting it. So, government should re-open churches properly and, as well, lift the interstate lockdown. Let there be free movement; let people learn their lessons, and start to apply the preventive measures put in place.

Again, continued closure of schools as a result of the coronavirus has taken the educational system more than one hundred percent backwards. It has really dealt a blow on the system and the learner. Students that should seat for the 2020 University Matriculation Examinations, as well as those for the Senior School Certificate Examinations, have not done so. We are approaching the month of July; by August, students suppose to be going for long vacation. So, if school closure continued, it would become very serious matter that would leave indelible mark on the educational system. Our people are not yet conversant with distant learning through technology. If such gadgets were in place, people could study from their homes; but they were not. Therefore, government should re-open schools, and give necessary directives to proprietors, head teachers or principals of schools on how to manage the pandemic. When reopened, government should also ensure that it keeps eyes on schools to ensure that every school observes necessary preventive measures as directed by NCDC.

The IGP said police recorded close to 800 cases of rape within the period of lockdown. As a minister of the gospel, what advise do you have for Nigerians on this?

I will advise that families should step up teachings on moral values and sex education. Do not tell your child that sex is a taboo; tell him when and how it should be done. Tell him that sex has procedure. Again, our sisters and our daughters should not allow themselves to be taken to places they ought not be. Any girl-child desiring to meet any man for any reason, even a man of God, such girl-child should not go alone.

As parents, we should advise our children to stop following their friends to places they do not know. They shouldn't visit any man alone.

I will also say that rape is demonic; so, families and churches need prayers. Government should also come up with such measures as life jail, for those found guilty of rape. This will check the increasing trend. This is because, rape is crime against God and humanity. Above all, parents should caution and monitor activities of their children; because, when the family is in shamble, the church will be shattered and the society will be in trouble.

What does the recent shooting in Aso Rock portend for Nigeria?

To me, nobody can actually give definition of the indelible mark the incident left in Nigeria. It exposed loopholes in Nigeria's security apparatus, and also in the government. Such thing cannot happen in the White House, in the United States of America or any other civilised society.

The incident showed that the Nigerian security outfit has decayed beyond measure. This is the first time such thing would happen in the history of Nigeria. It did not happen before, even during the civil war, and it ought not happen. Such shooting was a clear revelation that Nigeria is in trouble, because, if such thing could happen at the sit of power, the entire country is not safe. It portrayed Nigeria in a very bad light; and should, therefore, not be swept under carpet. I am of the opinion that perpetrators should be fully investigated and dealt with. Ears and eyes of Nigerians are wide open to see and to hear what government will do about the shooting.

Wole Soyinka said if Buhari were in Aso Rock, there would be no shooting. Do you agree with Soyinka that Buhari is not in Aso Rock?

Such incident raised a lot of doubt about the presence of Mr. President in Aso Rock. There is an Igbo adage which says that an adult cannot be at home and a goat commits suicide. If Buhari that I know were in Aso Rock, those that did the shooting would not get away with it. There are things that if you hear or see, you will begin to ask if the father of the house is around or not. So, I am totally in support of Soyinka’s observation. If Buhari that I know were in Aso Rock, his presence alone would not permit such scenario to play out.

How would you evaluate the performance of Nigerian security chiefs?

The sack of the service chiefs is long overdue. They have exhausted their ideas. They should give way for fresh hands; let Nigeria try another set of people, and know whether God will help the country. Anybody that goes round in a circle is a blind man. The security chiefs are going round in a circle to the detriment of Nigerians. Therefore, Mr. President should relieve them of their duties. They have done their best; though their best is not good enough for Nigeria. They should give way for new people and new ideas.

As things stand today, Nigeria has no security. Boko Haram, herdsmen, kidnappers and other bandits are on the loose, killing Nigerians in their numbers. They do things they like, and will always get away with them. They commit crimes uncheckmated. This is why I am of the view that brand new security chiefs should come in. Mr. President should be sincere enough to do the needful. If bandits wiped Nigerians out, who would the president govern?

Do you think that establishment of community policing as agreed by South East governors would checkmate security lapses in the region?

Homemade security outfit is needed in the region. Nobody can protect you as you can do for yourself. During the administration of Chinwoke Mbadinuju as governor of Anambra State, when armed robbers were on the loose, the governor hired the services of Bakkasi Boys. The activities of the boys contained the rampage of criminals in Anambra. Those days, many notorious armed robbers left Anambra state for good.

I am not completely opposed to community policing for the south east; but I suggest that proper training and monitoring of the said community police operatives should be put in place; so that the people hired to protect the people in the day will not turn against the people in the night.

What does the Holy Spirit tell you about the 2023 Igbo presidency?

I do not see Igboman becoming president in 2023. I will also be surprised if Tinubu got APC presidential flag in 2023. The north will likely continue beyond 2023. The south east is always divided when it comes to presidential elections. Even if they said south east should bring one person for presidency in 2023, people that will come out to contest from the region will be overwhelming; and when, eventually, somebody emerges, others will go to court.

Again, the north has 19 states; their votes also go in block. But here, when they share money, south east votes will be divided.

Moreover, I do not see APC government handing over power to somebody from the south east any time in the future. PDP will give presidential ticket to a northerner in 2023, after that tenure, the party will hand over to somebody from the south east. The only party that will sincerely give presidency to the Igboman is PDP. The Holy Spirit has revealed this to me. Few days ago, God showed me where somebody from the south emerged vice president in 2023.

How do you see continued disbandment of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, by government?

If the agitation for Biafra will yield the desired fruit, the entire South East must be united in the struggle. A people cannot be agitating for a separate country, while others from the same zone will accept ambassadorial and ministerial appointments, and others will contest elections or serve in the government of the country they are rejecting. It cannot work that way. If it must work, Igbo politicians must stop participating in Nigerian politics; they should stop accepting ministerial and ambassadorial positions; Igbo schools must stop using Nigeria’s academic calendar; people from the region, who are in the Nigerian police and army should withdraw their services and return home; then, it will be said that agitation has begun.

How many Igbo people in political appointments, and in the military and para-military agencies are ready to sacrifice their sources of livelihood? If an Igboman is contesting to become president of Nigeria; others gunning for the senate, etc, how could the region claim they are serious in their agitation for secession? If there must be such division as demanded by IPOB, the south east people must agree to withdraw any form of relationship with Nigeria; then, the United Nations will know that the south east is ready to leave Nigeria. Presently, Biafra agitation is still at the level of awareness creation.

QUOTATION:

"How many Igbo people in political appointments, and in the military and para-military agencies are ready to sacrifice their sources of livelihood? If an Igboman is contesting to become president of Nigeria; others gunning for the senate, etc, how could the region claim they are serious in their agitation for secession? Updated

A woman named patience and her granddaughter, Adaeze have been electrocuted today, Monday, 18th May, 2020 at the popular St. Peter Clavers Junction, in Nnewichi-Nnewi Anambra state.

Madam patience who is popularly called Nne Sam sells fried Akara and yam at Junction was friendly with everyone in the neighborhood. Her granddaughter Adaeze started sitting with her grandmother during the lockdown when kids were ordered to stay at home.

The electrocution was reportedly caused by a low EEDC high tension wire that landed on the container where the woman sells Akara and yam.

According to an eye witness who spoke to anaedoonline.com, he said a truck carrying old and used iron rods dragged down the low EEDC wire which landed on the container. When the incident occurred initially, Patience and her granddaughter ran into the container for safety. Suddenly, the wire started burning on the container and I think that was what affected them, she said.

According to another source, if the wires and poles were not too low, this would not have happened.

Both Patience and her granddaughter were rushed to Rose of Sharon Specialist hospital at St. Peter's Clavers road, where they were confirmed dead.

According to another source who spoke to anaedoonline.com said "when I picked up the young girl from the container into the car I knew she would not survive because her back tore into two, I could see her spinal cord".
The source confirmed that the doctor at Rose of Sharon hospital used two different oxygen on both patients on arrival but they were already dead.

The police, EEDC and other security agencies arrived the scene of the incident an hour later.

While speaking to some of her customers, they described Madam Patience as being kind, Jovial. One of her loyal customer narrated to her and they always discussed as friends. She most times sit with her and they talk about her kids who live she said live in Lagos". Another said, "her yam was a life saver, we go there every evening and it served as lunch for many. She will be greatly missed“.

In the meantime, her family members who visited the scene of the electrocution and her neighbour's have been thrown into mourning.

Crime / You Cannot Divorce An Nnewi Man And Get Away Just Like That by kenechukwujeo50: 6:00pm On Apr 21, 2020
It was a celebrated case for the Nnewi community in Lagos hence many people including those that played mediatory roles in the matter and the press arrived early at Igbosere High Court of Lagos state to witness how it would be settled.

Mazi Uchemdiya and his wife Ogbenyeanụ were locked in a protracted legal battle. The wife had filed for a divorce and the husband opposed it.

Judgement was expected that day; a weird judgement of some sort. How can Uchemdiya consent to a divorce at this time when his riches had gone?

He was duped by a Chinese exporter who collected his advance payment for goods but didn't ship the consignment in retaliation to a loss he suffered from a Nigerian who received goods on credit but didn't pay.

While he was planning on how he would pick up the pieces of his life, he had been surviving on what he deemed a paltry allowance from his wife who also was picking the major bills in the home front

Even though Mazi Uchemdiya was down and had to depend on his wife economically, he wouldn't let go his imperial head of the family mentality. He still ordered his wife about and would not tolerate any correction from a wife he regarded as a lower minion.
