Car TalkRe: Ugandan Students Build An Electric Vehicle. Shame On Nigeria! by Kenyanstar: 10:03am On Nov 07, 2011
Instead of u guys complaining, while neither of u r the giant nor the most advanced countries. Kenya can be classified as both since most of the students acknowledged for building this electric motor. 70 percent of ugandan universities host kenyan students. Kenyan students have built, created and innovate machines for a sustainable future in africa. This are innovations that will b the next frontier in both agricaltural and infrastuctural sector. Kenya is truly the leading light.

Foreign AffairsRe: South Sudan Has Become The World's Newest Nation! by Kenyanstar: 1:15pm On Jul 11, 2011
AFRICA POWERHOUSE KENYA DELIVERS A NEW COUNTRY

The republic of south Sudan has come to thank its big brother Kenya in its role as the patron ,father, brother and the only country in Africa that has enabled this new country to get its international recognition in record time.

Kenya plays the role of unifying countries that have otherwise been assumed by dimming giants such as NIGERIA and south africa. Kenya has played host to citizens of neighboring country's including Somalia which might soon give birth to a new country( Somaliland) which is recognized and is far peaceful compared to the larger somalia. Well we could also help Nigeria as well. Other countries that have benefited from Kenya from oppression are Eritrea, Djibouti which split from Ethiopia.

The country admires Kenya so much it adopted a flag similar to Great Kenya. The flag of Southern Sudan was adopted following the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that ended the second Sudanese civil war. The flag was previously used as the flag of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement. The flag is similar to the Flag of Kenya with the addition of a blue triangle and gold star at the hoist. The colours are said to represent the Southern Sudanese people (black), peace (white), the blood shed for freedom (red), the land (green) and the waters of the Nile (blue); the gold star, the Star of Bethlehem, represents unity of the states of Southern Sudan.

NIGERIA can borrow a leaf from kenya or even help. We will gladly accept the role of big brother.

Hail Kenya the Kingmaker Country
PoliticsRe: If You Became The President Of Nigeria For A Day: by Kenyanstar: 9:46am On Jul 01, 2011
I would re colonies the Nigerian state. What do you think about a Kenyan colony. I would do what our current president has managed to do in just less than seven years in a lot of hectic political rhetoric. He has achieved what nigeria hasn't achieved in 50 years.

New people driven constitution
New political dispensation and representation
New Chief justice (who is considered the hippest and the best from africa)
New attorney general
New Police Commisioner
New judicial prosection of corrupt goverment officials
Acquisition of land grabbed by individuals
Members of parliament being taxed and state officials
Managing to headroll the newest state in africa, South Sudan
Helping Somalia choose a new political head
New economic breaking record,

Just imagine what he can do without the challenges that has effected his current term.

Nigeria is all but a bunch of crap. Lack of moral values has diluted the country into a big pit of s**t. You might not forgive me for the strong word but it defies logic that an entire nation can bounce to such a situation without any solution based argument,

East African men and particularly Kenyan men are by far the most admired of native africans. I find it odd that comparisons brought forward by some people perpetuating that compared to Nigerians the allure that a Kenyan can emanate in front of your girls will sure ensnare them to us. We are just that good, the best if you might say,
CultureRe: Titilayo :: The White Girl Tha Speaks Yoruba Fluently by Kenyanstar: 10:37am On May 16, 2011
There can never be comparison between Swahili and Yoruba. Swahili is rich in heritage, culture, splendor and traditional aspect of it, to be even compared to Yoruba. Yoruba is the poor language. Its smacks of cynicism when anyone tries lamenting the influence of swahili to the other languages.
CultureRe: Titilayo :: The White Girl Tha Speaks Yoruba Fluently by Kenyanstar: 9:54am On May 16, 2011
The swahili language is probably the only african language that enjoys and boasts of being africas biggest export and proud heritage. Many of the world's institutions have responded to Swahili's growing prominence. It is one of the languages that feature in world radio stations such as the BBC World Service, Voice of America, Deutsche Welle, Voice of Russia, China Radio International, Radio France Internationale, Radio Sudan, and Radio South Africa. Swahili is also spoken in Oman, primarily by descendants of those who repatriated from Zanzibar after the fall of the Sultanate of Oman.

THE PROMINENCE OF SWAHILI IN THE WORLD
There is as yet insufficient historical or archaeological evidence to allow one to state exactly when and where either the Swahili language or the Swahili culture emerged. Nevertheless, it is assumed that the Swahili speaking people have occupied their present territories, hugging the Indian Ocean, since well before 1000 AD. Arab traders are known to have had extensive contact with the coastal peoples from at least the 6th century AD, and Islam began to spread along the East African Coast from at least the 9th century.

People from Oman and the Persian Gulf settled the Zanzibar Archipelago, helping spread both Islam and the Swahili language and culture with major trading and cultural centers as far as Sofala (Mozambique) and Kilwa (Tanzania) to the south, and Mombasa and Lamu in Kenya, Barawa, Merca, Kismayo and Mogadishu (Somalia) in the north, the Comoros Islands and northern Madagascar in the Indian Ocean.

Starting about 1800, the rulers of Zanzibar organized trading expeditions into the interior of the mainland, up to the various lakes in the continent's Great Rift Valley. They soon established permanent trade routes and Swahili speaking merchants settled in stops along the new trade routes. For the most part, this process did not lead to genuine colonization. But colonisation did occur west of Lake Malawi, in what is now Katanga Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, giving rise to a highly divergent dialect.

After Germany seized the region known as Tanganyika (present day mainland Tanzania) for a colony in 1886, it took notice of the wide (but shallow) dissemination of Swahili, and soon designated Swahili as a colony-wide official administrative language. The British did not do so in neighbouring Kenya, even though they made moves in that direction. The British and Germans both were keen to facilitate their rule over colonies with dozens of languages spoken by selecting a single local language that hopefully would be well accepted by the natives. Swahili was the only good candidate in these two colonies.

In the aftermath of Germany's defeat in World War I, it was dispossessed of all its overseas territories. Tanganyika fell into British hands. The British authorities, with the collaboration of British Christian missionary institutions active in these colonies, increased their resolve to institute Swahili as a common language for primary education and low level governance throughout their East African colonies (Uganda, Tanganyika, Zanzibar, and Kenya). Swahili was to be subordinate to English: university education, much secondary education, and governance at the highest levels would be conducted in English.

One key step in spreading Swahili was to create a standard written language. In June 1928, an interterritorial conference was held at Mombasa, at which the Zanzibar dialect, Kiunguja, was chosen to be the basis for standardizing Swahili.[12] Today's standard Swahili, the version taught as a second language, is for practical purposes Zanzibar Swahili, even though there are minor discrepancies between the written standard and the Zanzibar vernacular.
[edit] Current situation

At the present time, some 90 percent of approximately 39 million Tanzanians speak Swahili.[13] Kenya's population is comparable, but the prevalence of Swahili is lower, though still widespread. Most educated Kenyans are able to communicate fluently in Swahili, since it is a compulsory subject in school from grade one. The five eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (to be subdivided in 2009) are Swahili speaking. Nearly half the 66 million Congolese reportedly speak it;[14] and it is starting to rival Lingala as the most important national language of that country. In Uganda, the Baganda and residents of Buganda generally don't speak Swahili, but it is in common use among the 25 million people elsewhere in the country, and is currently being implemented in schools nationwide in preparation for the East African Community. The usage of Swahili in other countries is commonly overstated, being common only in market towns, among returning refugees, or near the borders of Kenya and Tanzania. Even so, Swahili speakers may number some 120 to 150 million people.[15] Many of the world's institutions have responded to Swahili's growing prominence.
PoliticsRe: Fg Bars Service Chiefs, Ministers, Others From Use Of Tinted Glasses by Kenyanstar: 10:11am On Mar 01, 2011
Its completely absurd that the Nigerian government uses absurd methods on the fight against crime. The kenyan gov has no issue with such cases concerning tinted windows and when it comes to police roadblocks they are rarely used to extort cash handouts from private motorists. A few weeks ago the Anti-corruption unit carried a sting operation on traffic police officers who were arrested on live TV trying to extort from public service vehicles. The Kenyan authority is fast becoming a darling of its citizens due to its radical service delivery. Well, the nigerian situation is further deteriorating into total chaos,
PoliticsRe: Cameroun To Supply Electricity To Nigeria by Kenyanstar: 3:18pm On Nov 28, 2010
Its really shamefull but hardly suprise that while kenya is busy trying to light its rural areas, nigeria is trying to light its urban centers. The kenyan parastal and state co-operation incharge of electricity is the most lauded in the country. Kenya can teach nigerian a lesson or two on good governance and policy making. Ten years ago kenya was importing electricity from uganda but now we are exporting to the same country. Recently the power company was distributing free energy saving bulbs to its customers in order to conserve energy and ease power on the national grid. Kenya is indeed the country to watch.

Nigerians are not only pathetic in Governance but a disgrace to its citizenry. To prove a point that this is gross incompetence Kenya, which is East and Central Africans powerhouse Modern buses are a requirement not only in state government departments but also schools. All primary, secondary and tertiary institutions are all supposed to acquire modern buses for its Students. Even Large nursery schools that cater for a big population of students are also required to obtain one for students comfort. This proves the point that Nigeria can never develop unless it replaces the old guard with a new political dispensation. Pathetic NAija OOOOHHHH

@ mandingo II

We totally understand your situation when it comes to you anger. Despite Kenya being listed as corrupt doesn't imply that the governments obligation of providing essential infrastructure to its citizen is non existent. The governments serious efforts to provide the best services recently got a boost after civil servants were required to sign PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS.THIS ENABLES THE SERVANTS TO BE ANSWERABLE TO THE PUBLIC. So it doesn't come as a surprise that this developments are causing a typical reaction from fellow african in regards to how you can still get the best out of a bad situation. The Kenyan society is one of the most endearing and progressive and consists of a close nit fiber of hardworking people among Africans. We are also touted as being the most optimistic people on earth about all aspects of life including social, economical and political goodwill and dispensation.

Generally Nigerian is a pure case study of a banana republic. The perception of Being the third fastest economy is not a surprise and this clearly proves the case of only the few elite benefiting from the immense wealth while the majority suffer. Has the economy improved, YES! Has the country Developed, NO! Will the situation improve, Never! CASE CLOSED.

To say the least, Nigerian movies are disastrous to watch. Its an embarrassment and humiliating experience when my 8yr old nephew starts correcting the grammatical errors that this "un-professional" actors purport to be using. Just imagine watching a movie that has a poor plot, cast, storyline and lack of quality. It even gets worse when you end up loosing the theme of the movie before you are shown an endless episode of a single event that is inconsequential to the movie or should i say dram play. Back here the nigerian movies are mainly watched by illiterate and house-helps.
