First Lady, Aisha Buhari has alleged that Alhaji Mamman Daura gave a presidential directive without her husband’s knowledge. Until recently, Mamman Daura, a nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari lives in Glass House inside the presidential villa. The feud between the first lady and Daura’s family worsened in October when she returned from a two-month foreign trip. It became public knowledge when a video of the president’s wife asking questions and making comments about being locked out of a room and demanding that some people should pack their belongings went viral. She engaged Daura’s daughter, Fatima. Daily Trust had exclusively reported in September that the first lady angered by the development in the villa, left for abroad in August. The feud festered when she returned. The first lady in a statement she personally signed and made available to our correspondent Wednesday morning , said the directive scrapping the office of the first lady was issued by Mamman Daura, using a presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu. Tagged, ” Garba Shehu Has Gone Beyond His Boundaries”, she said the directive embarrassed the president. The statement which was sent to our correspondent through Suleiman Haruna’s email, Aisha Buhari’s spokesperson reads: ” Nigeria’s development is hinged on the ability of public officials to execute their mandates professionally, and to be shining examples in their various areas of endeavor. It is not a good sign when officials abandoned their responsibility and start clutching at straws. ” As spokesperson of the President, he has the onerous responsibility of managing the image of the President and all the good works that he is executing in the country. Rather than face this responsibility squarely, he has shifted his loyalty from the President to others who have no stake in the compact that the President signed with Nigerians on May 29, 2015 and 2019. ” To make matters worse, Mr. Shehu has presented himself to these people as a willing tool and executioner of their antics, from the corridors of power even to the level of interfering with the family affairs of the President. This should not be so. The blatant meddling in the affairs of a First Lady of a country is a continuation of the prodigal actions of those that he serves. ” We all remember that the chief proponent appropriated to himself and his family a part of the Presidential Villa, where he stayed for almost 4 years and when the time came for him to leave, he orchestrated and invaded my family’s privacy through a video circulated by Mamman’s Daughter, Fatima, the public was given the impression that on arrival into the country I was locked out of the villa by Mr. President. Garba Shehu as Villa Spokesperson, knew the truth and had the responsibility to set the records straight, but because his allegiance is somewhere else and his loyalty misplaced, he deliberately refused to clear the air and speak for the President who appointed him in the first place. Consequently, his action has shown a complete breakdown of trust between the First Family and him. ” Mr. Shehu was privy and part of the plan and it’s execution and he was shocked when he realized that I had publicized my return to Nigeria on October 12, 2019 and cleared the air on the many rumors that took over social media, a job he was supposed to do but kept mute to cause more confusion and instability for his Principal and his family. “Garba then, vented his anger on the National Television Authority (NTA) Management insisting that the media crew to my office must be sacked. He succeeded in getting them suspended for doing their job. I had to intervene to save the innocent staff from losing their means of livelihood by involving the Department of State Services (DSS) in order to ascertain roles played by key actors in the saga. ” It is at this late hour that I recall, sadly, that it was the same Garba Shehu who claimed that the government will not allow office of the First Lady to run. He was later to confirm to one of my aides that he was instructed to say so by Mamman Daura and not the President. This antic attracted the anger of Nigerian women. He didn’t realize the fact that First Lady’s office is a tradition which has become an institution. ” Today, even without a budget, I am able to run my humanitarian programmes. In saner climes, Garba Shehu would have resigned immediately after going beyond his boundaries and powers. ” GARBA SHEHU NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR WILL NO LONGER BE TOLERATED. ” The latest of his antics was to wage a war on the first family through an orchestrated media campaign of calumny by sponsoring pseudo accounts to write and defame my children and myself. ” Based on Garba Shehu’s misguided sense of loyalty and inability to stay true and loyal to one person or group, it has become apparent that all trust has broken down between him and my family due to the many embarrassments he has caused the Presidency and the first family. We all have families to consider in our actions and therefore it is in the best interest of all concerned for Garba Shehu to take the advice of the authority, given to him sometimes in the first week of November, 2019.” Haruna in a text message confirmed that the statement emanated from the first lady. A source around Garba Shehu said the spokesperson will not want to join issues with the first lady. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/breaking-how-mamman-daura-gave-presidential-directive-without-my-husbands-knowledge-aisha-buhari.html

Kogi, Gombe, Rivers and Adamawa have been adjudged the most corrupt states in Nigeria, according to the latest report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The report titled ‘The 2nd Corruption Survey Report in Nigeria’ and released in Abuja on Friday, showed Kogi as the most corrupt state with 48 per cent score, followed by Gombe (45 per cent); Rivers (43 per cent); and Adamawa (41 per cent). Conversely, Imo is the least corrupt state in the country with 17.6 per cent prevalence, followed closely by Jigawa, Kano and Plateau states. On a zonal basis, the most corrupt geopolitical zone is the North-Central, while the North-West recorded the least corruption cases. The Nigeria Police Force retained its position as the leading corrupt public agency in Nigeria, a position which it occupied in the first corruption survey report on Nigeria presented in 2016. In the latest report, police officers led the charts with 33 per cent (down from 46 per cent in 2016), followed by land registry officers (26 per cent); and revenue officers (25 per cent). The least corrupt officials in 2019 are health workers with five per cent. The report indicated a slight reduction in corruption cases, particularly bribery, nationwide. While the prevalence of bribery was 32.3 per cent in 2016; in 2019, it dropped to 30.2 per cent. The report, based on data collected from a total of 33,067 persons in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory through interviews, noted that while the drop might not be “substantial”, it’s an indication that Nigerians were rejecting bribery somehow. The NBS conducted the survey with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and other partner international organs. The highlights of the report were presented at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, by the Statistician General, NBS, Dr Yemi Kale, and the Country Representative of UNODC in Nigeria, Mr Oliver Stople. https://kogireports.com/nbs-report-kogi-leads-gombe-rivers-as-most-corrupt-state-in-nigeria/ |

The federal government Tuesday said it has commenced remodelling of grazing reserves into ranches in seven states. The states are Adamawa, Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Zamfara and Plateau. Count us out- Bunue state government This, the government said, was part of efforts to transform and modernise the country’s livestock industry. Executive Secretary National Commission for Nomadic Education Prof. Bashir Usman stated this in Zaria at the opening of a three-day capacity building workshop on the remodelling of grazing reserves into ranches. But, the Benue state government told Blueprint it was not aware of the plan, even as it insisted the state would not compromise its Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranching establishment law. FG’s plans Addressing the workshop however, the NCNE scribe, Professor Usman said the training was organised for 120 nomadic education extension agents and other officers of the commission. Represented by the director, social mobilisation and women development in the commission, Alhaji Mohammed El-Nafaty, the NCNE boss said the existing grazing reserves had already been carved out, demarcated and gazetted. He said 141 out of the 416 grazing reserves, spread across the six geo-political zones of the country with a total of 3.4 million hectares of land had been gazetted. Usman further said the idea behind developing the grazing reserves into ranches was to provide state-of-the-art grazing resources for livestock herders in the country. This, according to him, would curtail the persistent farmer-herder conflicts threatening peace and security in the country. “This can be achieved through the transformation of grazing reserves into ranches otherwise known as Intensive Livestock Production Systems. “This entails training and re-training of front line staff and other key stakeholders, effective community mobilisation and sensitisation through extension services. “It also involves the identification, mapping and clustering of pastoralists and their communities in the existing grazing reserves as evidence-based data preparatory for the full implementation of ranching concept in the country. “It equally entails the provision of the requisite resources and infrastructure to serve as a window of opportunities for the livestock producers to have access to improved production facilities and social amenities. “Other provisions include schools, security, markets, clinics, livestock service centres, access roads, milk and meat processing centres along the value chains as well as other critical infrastructure,” Usman said, as quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria. Count us out -BNSG However, Benue, one of the designated states slated for the remodelling, said it was not aware of such plans by the federal government. The state’s Commissioner for Agricultural and Natural Resources, Dr. Timothy Ijir, stated this Tuesday in Makurdi, in a chat with our correspondent . He said: “We are not aware of the plans by the federal government to remodel grazing reserves. Moreover, Benue has no grazing reserves that are gazetted. If there is any arrangement by the federal government to restructure or remodel grazing reserve, then we are not part of it. “The Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranching establishment law promulgated by the state government is still in place, and we are not ready to compromise it “The federal government recently brought the National Livestock Transformation plan, which we have completely embraced. “However, we are going to restructure the National Livestock Transformation Plan to conform with the Benue state Ranching law. In the new Livestock Transformation plan, we are going to localise it to include pigs, goats and of course cattle. “But this will strictly conform with the law prohibiting open grazing, which also provides for ranching of animals in the state. Anything short of this, the state will not accept. We are not part of anything grazing reserves. https://www.blueprint.ng/fg-begins-remodeling-in-benue-taraba-5-others/ |

EXCLUSIVE: How Buhari’s Emissaries Met Sowore In Detention by PREMIUM TIMES The first team included Messrs Funtua, Amuka, Shehu and Obaigbena. The secobd team led by Femi Adesina, Rather than direct immediate compliance with a federal court order that freed Omoyele Sowore on bail, President Muhammadu Buhari has instead been sending emissaries to the activist to extract commitment from him to back down on the ‘revolution now’ protest as a precondition for his release. In at least two attempts now confirmed by PREMIUM TIMES, the president’s emissaries visited Mr Sowore where he is being illegally held at the State Security Service Headquarters to “negotiate for peace” in return for his freedom. The Sahara Reporters’ publisher, however, rejected both attempts as extra-judicial and self-serving, saying he would not take part in any arrangement that would essentially lend legitimacy to unwarranted abuse of his fundamental rights and brazen disregard of judicial authority, people briefed on the matter told PREMIUM TIMES. The development appeared the strongest indication yet that Mr Buhari is aware of the continued detention of Mr Sowore in defiance of multiple court orders. Those who took part in the botched negotiation included Isa Funtua, a close political associate of the president; Sam Amuka, publisher of Vanguard Newspapers; Nduka Ogbaigbena, publisher of Thisday Newspapers and presidential spokespersons, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu. ‘Infuriating dialogue’ Mr Sowore was arrested on August 3 for leading #RevolutionNow campaign — a series of nationwide protests he had planned with other activists to demand a better Nigeria. He was first granted bail by a federal judge in September, but the SSS did not comply and instead took him before another judge to file duplicated charges against him. The second judge granted him bail under stringent conditions in October, which he eventually satisfied on November 6. Both court orders were ignored and Mr Sowore remained in illegal custody of the SSS, a Nigerian domestic intelligence outfit under direct and absolute control of the president. As calls mounted on the Nigerian government to respect Mr Sowore’s rights and obey court orders for his release, Mr Buhari hastily arranged a team to pressure the activist into an agreement that would see him abandon his #RevolutionNow campaign before he could be freed. The first team included Messrs Funtua, Amuka, Shehu and Obaigbena, sources said. “The first meeting took place in the office of SSS director of operations, ” a source told PREMIUM TIMES. “The group met Mr Sowore and said they came on behalf of the president to negotiate for peace.” But Mr Sowore, a former student union activist who confronted military regimes and suffered attacks and persecution for it, “refused openly,” saying “all he wants is justice.” Mr Sowore insisted he would not compromise his demand for a new Nigeria that works for all citizens, a defiance that shocked those present at the meeting, including Mr Shehu who led the team, another source said. PREMIUM TIMES learnt that members of the delegation were “infuriated” by Mr Sowore’s “refusal to dialogue” with them under the conditions outlined. Mr Sowore’s firm repudiation of the president’s delegation also angered Yusuf Bichi, the head of the SSS, who subsequently ordered his continued detention while making him incommunicado. Mr Sowore had threatened to inform his lawyer, Femi Falana, of Mr Buhari’s moves, leading the SSS chief to deprive him of all forms of contact with anyone outside the facility. Contacted by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Obaigbena denied ever being part of the delegation that met Mr Sowore. But another member of the team, Mr Funtua, said, “I went to meet him (Sowore) with Sam Amuka, Nduka Obaigbena and some others. We were there for two hours to discuss with him that there was no need to be grandstanding with his lawyers.” When asked to comment on SSS continued defiance of court order over Mr Sowore, Mr Funtua said he was aware of it, but that the state has nothing to lose. “You cannot fight the government. You cannot fight the establishment. You cannot do anything to the establishment. But for an individual it is a different case and we do not want anyone to suffer for too long, that is why we are trying to find a solution to the matter.” Another fruitless attempt was made to get Mr Sowore to back down on his agitation earlier this month while the president was vacationing in London, sources said. “This one was led by Femi Adesina,” the source said. “Again, he refused to even see Mr Adesina, saying he cannot negotiate with them under any circumstances, especially since he has been granted bail.” To further punish him for rejecting yet another presidential delegation, Mr Sowore was denied access to his letters and rarely allowed to take fresh air. The restrictions were later briefly relaxed and Mr Sowore was able to speak with PREMIUM TIMES from custody on November 14. The phone with which he spoke with this newspaper was immediately seized even though it was given to him by the SSS which discreetly monitored his communications. Shedding dilemma Messrs Adesina, Shehu and Obaigbena did not return messages seeking comments from PREMIUM TIMES Friday morning. Peter Afunanya, chief spokesperson for the SSS, also declined comments about the botched negotiation. The previously unknown but concerted attempts to talk Mr Sowore out of #RevolutionNow campaign underscored not just the suffering of the Nigerian activist but the dilemma his illegal detention and remarkable display of courage have placed on the Nigerian government, said legal analyst Helen Okeka. “The government is obviously having a sleepless night on this matter,” Ms Okeka told PREMIUM TIMES Friday morning. “It is not easy to attain a reputation of lawlessness, especially blatant and unprecedented disregard of court order.” Mrs Okeka said the officials responsible for keeping Mr Sowore in custody in defiance of multiple judicial pronouncements on the matter are not oblivious of the potential consequences of their roles. “They know that one day would come when they would have to face the music for this,” the lawyer said from Owerri. “There are some things you just cannot get away with, no matter how long it takes.” Many Nigerians had suspected the government’s predicament from the controversial statements by the SSS on why Mr Sowore was still being kept in custody. The statements, critics said, were so weak in law, logic and substance that many could not come to terms with the reality that they were issued by the country’s preeminent domestic intelligence outfit. “Anytime the courts have told Buhari’s government to do something it doesn’t like, it has refused to obey it.“ Dr Kolawole Olaniyan, legal adviser to Amnesty International, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has shown “stunning disregard for the rule of law and human rights, ignoring Nigerian judges on at least 40 occasions”. The London-based lawyer, who accused the President of treating judges with disdain, also questioned the sincerity of Buhari’s anti-corruption fight. Olaniyan made the claims in a piece titled, ‘Buhari is ignoring Nigerian judges – We must not let him get away with it’, according to a report by PUNCH. He said, “It’s hard to overstate the significance of this disregard of court orders not just for the operation of the rule of law but also effective respect for constitutional and international human rights, such as freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, association and access to information. Yet, Buhari is carrying on, irrespective of human rights and the rule of law. “Anytime the courts have told Buhari’s government to do something it doesn’t like, it has refused to obey it. “Even Buhari’s Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami (SAN), once said the rule of law is what the authorities determine it to be. “The government always has explanations on why it should not obey lawful court orders, seemingly replacing binding legal decisions with the vagaries of politics, and obeying the decisions whenever they suit it. “This disdainful arrogance for the courts and our constitutional jurisprudence wasn’t even normalised during periods of military dictatorship in Nigeria. “The public perception seems to be that the government will only obey court orders if it gets what it wants. “Yet, it should never be right for the government to obey the court as a matter of grace. Buhari has to obey the courts as a matter of necessity. “If Nigeria is ever going to comply with its international human rights obligations and commitments, the government has to begin to show respect for Nigerian judges.” http://saharareporters.com/2019/11/25/buhari-has-disobeyed-40-court-orders-says-amnesty-international’s-lawyer |

Pioneer Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, NESG, Professor Anya O. Anya, has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari for presiding over a government that disrespects court orders. He spoke in reaction to the continued detention of RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, despite a subsisting court order. Last week, the Department of State Services, DSS, which has been widely condemned for keeping Nigerians in detention despite orders, explained the circumstances that warranted the custody of Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.), Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and Omoyele Sowore in its facility. Speaking to Vanguard, Anya compared the Buhari government to the regime of Adolf Hitler, the dreaded late German politician and leader of the Nazi Party, who rose to power in 1933. He said: “Sowore is not the darling of many people but the issue here goes beyond that. It is not about whether it is right or wrong, but when the institution of justice has pronounced a certain course of action and you ignore it…that is part of the danger I am talking about. “People forget that Adolf Hitler was elected through a democratic system but he systematically attacked and destroyed the various institutions that make democracy possible. “So, the grave danger one sees now is when you have a government that does not obey court orders, is brazing in the way it handles matters that are regarded as sacrosanct in a plural society, then obviously is only one possibility that the government has made up it’s mind to go the path of either totalitarianism or even fascism. “I mean we had a report of people going to protest at the DSS office and live ammunition was shot. They claimed nobody was injured or killed but that it should even happen is a sign of danger,” he said. DAILY POST reports that the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, repeatedly cites national security as the major reason the federal government does not obey court orders. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has warned Malami to stop actions and pronouncements that are contempt of court. Kunle Edun, NBA National Publicity Secretary, in a statement, in reacting to certain comments against judges, declared that the body shall resist any attempt by the political class to subject judges and judicial institutions to public ridicule and opprobrium. The NBA advised Malami, the Chief Law Officer of the Federation, “not to be seen to encourage disrespect to the courts, by always do the needful in protecting the sanctity and respect for the decisions of courts and judicial officers”. https://dailypost.ng/2019/11/18/adolf-hilter-destroyed-democratic-system-after-his-election-prof-anya-slams-buhari-govt/ |
Some residents of Yenagoa in Bayelsa State have declared that they voted for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief David Lyon, instead of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Senator Douye Diri because of the party’s humiliation of a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe, during the primaries. Shortly after the announcement of results at the polling centres on Saturday, thousands of residents in the Bayelsa State capital took to the streets to celebrate APC’s victory in their polling units. The residents, including market women, who rushed to the market to display their wares and tricycle operators, said they mobilised to vote for APC candidate instead of that of the PDP because they were unhappy with the way the leadership of the PDP in the state worked against the emergence of Alaibe as the party’s governorship candidate. Despite the delay in the arrival of electoral materials, voters turned out in their numbers and waited patiently for materials to arrive after which they cast their votes. In Opolo Community Town Hall, where armed men attempted to stop voting by shooting indiscriminately and destroying electoral materials, voters returned to cast their votes after more than 50 policemen were deployed to the area to enforce law and order. After the attack, a group of women mobilised themselves and staged a peaceful protest, declaring that nothing will stop them from voting. Some of the residents, who expressed optimism that David Lyon of the APC will emerge victorious after collation and announcement of the result, said Opolo Community, like other communities in Yenogoa are traditional PDP strongholds, but voted for APC in protest. They added that they had always dreamed of seeing Alaibe as governor and that the leadership of PDP had the opportunity of making that dream come true, but decided to field a candidate that is “unpopular.” Some of the residents claimed that the state has been on a standstill in recent years, lamenting that they have not seen infrastructure that befits an oil producing state like Bayelsa. A youth leader in Atissa Community of Yenagoa, Cyprian Dose, said that residents were mindful of the fact that the election was the only way to “ensure that Bayelsa begins afresh.” He added: “The little child on the street may not know who Timi Alaibe is, but he hears his parents mention his name frequently because the man is truly loved in Bayelsa. Majority of PDP supporters voted against the party because they did not like the way Alaibe was treated by the PDP. “If he had flown the flag for the PDP, you would not have seen the kind of crowd that came out to celebrate the anticipated victory of the APC.” https://www.newtelegraphng.com/2019/11/yenagoa-residents-we-voted-against-pdp-over-alaibes-humiliation/ |

THE Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People has called on the Federal Government to clear the names of Ken Saro -Wiwa and eight others , who were executed by the late General Sani Abacha -led military government in November , 1995 . MOSOP President , Legborsi Pyagbara , made the call in Port Harcourt on Saturday during the 24 th anniversary commemoration of the Ogoni Martyrs’ Day . Pyagbara said , “ Until the Nigerian state clears the name of the ‘Ogoni Nine ’, Nigeria will not know peace . For the past six remembrance ceremonies, we have continued to highlight the need for the Nigerian government to right the wrongs committed against these fallen heroes. “The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on Nigeria on December 22 , 1995 , in which it condemned the execution of Ken Saro -Wiwa and other members of the Ogoni . “The fact- finding team found that the trial and execution of the Ogoni heroes fell below the standards set by the Nigerian legal regime, not to talk of the gross infringement of international human rights law . It indeed remains a dent on our collective conscience as a nation . ” He reiterated the group ’ s position on oil exploration in Ogoni and urged the people to remain resolute and not be deceived by prospecting oil companies . He said , “For some time now , the Ogoni people have seen intense pressure to re - enter the land for the purpose of resuming oil production in our land . While Shell remains persona non grata in Ogoni , we have stated repeatedly that Ogoni oil assets cannot be partitioned and allocated . “We are appealing to members of Ogoni communities not to allow themselves to be deceived by any potential investor either from the state or Federal Government . It is our duty to learn from our past and find a united platform , which will protect our interest collectively .” |

Tongues have been wagging since Kogi State Chief Judge, Justice Nadir Ajana, swore in the state’s new deputy governor, Edward David Onoja, on October 21, following the controversial impeachment of the former deputy governor, Elder Simon Achuba. The Kogi State House of Assembly had impeached Achuba in spite of the report of the judicial panel constituted by Ajana to probe the allegations of gross misconduct leveled against Achuba declaring him as clean as a hound’s tooth. The Chief Judge was also said to have sworn not to swear in Achuba’s replacement and had rendered himself incommunicado just to avoid the unenviable task. It therefore came as a surprise to many that barely 24 hours after the Chief Judge swore not swear in Onoja, he performed the task against all expectations. It has come to light, however, that Justice Ajana made the turnaround after intense pressure from within and outside the state, including subtle threats to his life by the powers that be. So intense was the pressure that a very senior legal mind outside the state was said to have advised Ajana to “consider your safety first and make yourself available to swear in the new deputy governor.” The senior legal mind reportedly told him that in the prevailing circumstances, swearing in Onoja was the wise thing to do, saying he was sure that the matter would eventually go to court and the judiciary would do its job. https://thenationonlineng.net/safety-first-reason-why-kogi-chief-judge-made-u-turn-on-new-deputy-governor/amp/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqP_XHggKO4 TB Joshua's Historic Visit To Tanzania With President John Magufuli! This week, exactly four years ago, a truly historic event was witnessed in the nation of Tanzania. No, I’m not referring to the inauguration of its trailblazing President John Magufuli – although that indeed was a meteoric moment. I am talking about the extraordinary visit of Nigerian Pastor TB Joshua. At a time of political upheaval and division, the news of Joshua’s surprise journey literally dominated the headlines nationwide and significantly contributed to the reduction in post-election tension. Within hours of his touching down in Tanzania and meeting the main opposition leaders, the retributive rhetoric fuelled by the hotly-contested election cooled significantly and calmness replaced anxiety on the streets. But why else would his visit rank so highly in my reckoning, I hear some of you inquisitively ask? Well, to put it simply, the evidence of TB Joshua’s spiritual covering in the life of President Magufuli – and the country of Tanzania by extension – is unequivocal. Since coming to office, the ‘Bulldozer’ has made a lot of ‘enemies’ – especially among those foreign business entities whose corruption and extortion he so visibly exposed. However, he has remained dogged and determined in his pursuit of betterment for the Tanzanian people – a reality which everyone, slowly but surely, is starting to reap from. Indeed, even his sternest critics can acknowledge that Tanzania has grown in leaps and bounds since his arrival to office. There was, therefore, understandable alarm when news ran amok several weeks ago that Magufuli had collapsed and was ‘allegedly’ airlifted to Germany for emergency treatment. Days later as rumour-mongers peddled various outlandish outcomes, the President appeared back in public with his trademark stern charisma. I am personally convinced the prayers of TB Joshua led to his restoration and revitalisation. I even heard (on good authority from a Tanzanian journalist) that he sent one of his pastors from Nigeria to personally intercede for the Tanzanian leader! Sceptics and cynics may scoff and question why Nigeria’s sickness-stricken leader Muhammadu Buhari could not equally be helped by Pastor Joshua - but such arguments stem from misinterpretation of the prophetic role. President Magufuli openly acknowledges Joshua’s place in his life and leadership, even referring to him as a ‘mentor’. President Buhari has been conspicuously silent about the cleric since his assumption to power, despite bipartisan calls for him to seek prayers for his litany of debilitating ailments. TB Joshua acts only under God’s instruction and would not undertake going to meet such leaders on his own accord. Fame and fortune are certainly not mitigating motivators. The fact is that our recognition and value of God’s servants often end up being the key that releases God to release them! As a frustrated Mr Francis Kotche penned on Facebook addressing this very issue, “Our West African Presidents in ECOWAS are sleeping, still chasing and worshipping wealth, fame and position – forgetting that the Lord is the One that makes men great and His servant TB Joshua is in their midst.” I am not here to suggest that everything has automatically become perfect or there are no challenges in the nation. Of course there are! However, Tanzania is being shepherded by a no-nonsense leader whose policies are producing economic turnaround, stamping out corruption and encouraging morality and good neighbourliness. When TB Joshua re-shared the video of his historic visit to Tanzania on Facebook, Alpha Jeremiah succinctly surmised in a comment: “Yes, we as Tanzanians can boldly say that God has remembered our nation! The development we are experiencing in these four years since the Man of God came to visit is tremendous.” Today, Tanzania shines as a bastion of development and progress in a continent often dominated by reports of corruption and stagnation. The Biblical adage in Matthew 10:41 springs readily to mind. Tanzania and its leader honoured the prophet and God’s blessings, wisdom and protection have flowed freely ever since! Taba21:Photo: The Man Who Suggested The Name "BIAFRA" His Royal Highness Chief Frank Opigo Dawai 111, Amananaowei of Angiama was a statesman politician, educationist and a philanthropist. He graduated in 1953 as the first graduate of central/western Ijaw land who later served as Assistant Registrar, Student Union. In 1967 he became the administrator of Yenegoa Province of Biafra and the commissioner for rural development. "Biafra" , a name familiar with the Old eastern region and Igbos today was suggested by him. Chief Opigo gave Biafra (after the Bight of Biafra now Bonny) its name and the rest of the seceding eastern region adopted it. Biafra historical record would remain incomplete if this great Ijaw son is not remembered. http://biafranchronicle.com/2015/05/28/27th-of-may/ https://www.nairaland.com/2689230/photo-man-suggested-name-biafra
