Christianity Etc › A Must Watch For All Christains: The New Wave Of Persecution’ by KEVIND(op):
Starting her message titled ‘The New Wave Of Persecution’, Evangelist Angela shared her own testimony of how God healed her from a crippling bone disease that wanted to take her life. “America has everything for me – everything but one thing and that one thing I found in the life of Prophet T.B. Joshua. I found God, real, alive and at work.”
Bemoaning the lack of unity and love in the church, causing the new wave of persecution, Angela said, “Where is Jesus in our midst? If pastors and priests cannot walk together as one, how will their members work together? If we do not walk together, how will we accomplish the mission of the Gospel?”
In a touching moment of her poweful sermon, Angela said, “Prophet T.B. Joshua made a difference in my life. I was never asked what church I attended before he prayed for me. I was never asked what denomination I belonged to before he gave his time, his years to mentor me. But you said he was the one I was supposed to watch out for?”

Passengers arrive at Washington Dulles International Airport in June 2017. The Trump administration wants to crack down on those who overstay their business and tourist visas.

The White House shifted its focus this week from the surge of families crossing the U.S.-Mexico border to the hundreds of thousands of immigrants who arrive in the United States legally and then illegally remain in the country after their visas expire.

Though President Trump has fixated on the rising numbers of Central American families claiming asylum at the southern border, he also promised during his campaign that deporting those who overstay their legal visas would be a priority for his administration.

Trump on Monday issued a presidential memo that declared visa overstay rates “unacceptably high” and calling them a “widespread problem.” On the basis of a recent Homeland Security report, he instructed federal agencies to consider action against countries that have business and tourism travelers — using the popular B1 and B2 visas — who overstay at a rate higher than 10 percent.

Twenty countries have overstay rates higher than 10 percent, according to the Homeland Security report. Except for Syria and Nigeria, these countries accounted for fewer than 1,000 overstayers each.

Trump gave the State Department four months to consult with Homeland Security officials and the attorney general to recommend sanctions, which he said could include suspending or limiting visas for those countries.

But some analysts say targeting these countries would have little impact on the total number of undocumented immigrants in the United States. Using the percentage of overstays as a measure also disproportionately targets African nations — 13 of the 20 countries are in Africa — while avoiding political conflicts with larger and more powerful countries, such as China and India.

Djibouti, a small nation on the Horn of Africa, has the highest visa overstay rate — but that translates to just 180 of the 403 business and tourism travelers to the United States in 2018.

Chad’s 30.8 percent overstay rate amounted to 165 people. Yemen, with the third-highest rate, had 518 overstayers.

Just Nigeria posted a significant number of visa overstayers while also having a rate that put the African nation into Trump’s target category.

Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Venezuela and other nations also have large numbers of overstays, but their rate is lower than 10 percent because these countries send a much higher number of travelers to the United States. The DHS report says Mexico had more than 43,000 overstays — a rate of 1.5 percent — and that Canada had 88,000 overstays, at a rate of less than 1 percent. But like the list of 20 countries the DHS analyzed, the overstays reflect just travelers who arrived on airplanes or ships. Most Canadians and Mexicans who legally travel to the United States enter the country by land. DHS said data for those entries will be included in future reports.

The House Of Representatives, on Wednesday, passed a motion urging all the Service Chiefs to resign over the increasing rate of insecurity in the country.

In the motion which was unanimously adopted by members after three hours debate, the House declared that the Service Chiefs have outlived their usefulness as they failed woefully to proffer solutions to the security challenges facing the nation.

Politics › Asaba Massacre: Untold Story Of Tragedy And Carnage by KEVIND(op): 6:05am On Jan 21, 2020
For the past 52 years, the people of Asaba in Delta State have been living in deep sorrow and anguish. They have been swimming in the ocean of misery and trauma as a result of the Nigeria-Biafra civil war.

Honourable Chike Osadebey, son of Dennis Osadebey, former premier of the now defunct Mid-Western Region of Nigeria, told Daily Sun in Asaba last Thursday that because Asaba is a closely-knit community, every family was a victim of the “abomination in Asaba,” as Chinua Achebe described it.

“If you dig deep, it seems that everybody in Asaba is related to one another, so we were all affected. I had uncles, aunties and cousins, who lost their lives in the attack. We are pained that such a thing could happen that at point blank people could just be rounded up and wasted summarily in such a manner. It is genocide. We are from Asaba and it touched every family,” he lamented.

Indeed, five decades after, the Asaba mass murder is still a living trauma and tragedy. “Every Asaba woman, man or child carries a memory of genocide…a communal memory of loss and anguish,” said Ogbueshi Ofili Okonkwo.

Journey to genocide
It was alleged that the massacre was carried out to teach the Mid-Western region a bitter lesson “for their sympathy for the Biafrans.” Barely three months into the war over the declaration of the Republic of Biafra, the federal troops descended on the small town on the west bank of the River Niger.

Like possessed beings, the federal troops went on rampage, ransacking and vandalising homes, killing every man sighted and destroying homes, among other things.

The killings took another horrendous dimension on October 7, 1967. That day, hundreds of men, women and children came out chanting “One Nigeria” in support and solidarity with the federal troops. Many of them came out in their best customary white attire (akwa ocha). But the military had other plans.

They took the innocent citizens to Ogbeosowa area of the town. There, they killed hundreds of men in cold blood. And Asaba laid prostate, in ruins. A town without men.

The order for the killing was reportedly given by Maj. Ibrahim Taiwo. Ironically, Taiwo, as military governor of Kwara State, was beheaded during a coup in 1976, reinforcing the saying that those that kill by the gun will surely die by the gun.

A witness of the mass murder, Dr Cyril Uchenna Gwam, said: “The Nigerian troops that came into Asaba came with the aim of eliminating every Asaba man as they thought they were fathers, brothers and uncles of Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu, the leader of the first Nigerian coup in 1966 that killed Sarduana of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

“Major Nzeogwu was from Okpanam town, which was five kilometres drive from Asaba. It would interest you to know that every Okpanam person regards himself or herself as an Asaba person. I would rather say those soldiers that came to Asaba were on a revenge mission and not after the Biafrans. But the question everybody is asking is, why would they descend on unarmed innocent civilians? It was an international calamity of which the International Criminal Court should have passed serious sentence against Ibrahim Taiwo and his cohorts for the implacable crime.”

Gwam, who saw death with his eyes but escaped by the whiskers, said that one of his uncles, Okonkwo, and himself were about to join those dancing at the square when his uncle spoke Hausa and one of the soldiers, who heard him, asked them to return to the house.

He further said that when the federal troops opened fire on the defenceless residents, Ibrahim Taiwo was excitedly shouting: “Kill them all! They are all unbelievers.”

According to him, the mass murder was not a one-off thing. “At Ogbeosowa, the mayhem was on October 8; at John Halt, it was October 9, 1967; at Saint Patrick’s College, Asaba, it was in 1968 and at Umujia, it was also in 1968,” he said.

The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Edozien said the people did not know that the attempt to embrace the federal troops was a game of death. According to him, every village prepared and went to Ogbeosowa Square, thinking that they were coming to receive their friends but the reverse was the case.

The monarch, at a point, wept profusely as he reflected on the horrendous civil war.
He said that he narrowly escape being slaughtered. “When we got there, they separated the men from the women. The next thing we saw was that they opened fire. They surrounded our people with machine gun and they slaughtered them in thousands. Some of us who were able to escape were those that dead bodies fell upon.

“I didn’t know there another killing field, CMC Field at Ogbeosowa. Men and women filled the place. They told us to dig graves, face the graves and start saying our prayer. I was praying with other people when one Land Rover arrived. It was Barb Ali, my classmate at New Ethel College, Onitsha. He called me Sunny and asked what I was doing there. I told him I was from Asaba, that I came to join my people. He commanded me to enter the vehicle immediately and I did. One other person, John Okonyia, entered too. A few seconds after we drove out of the place, they opened fire on our people. The whole people there were mowed down. The women buried those men killed. The women went through the bodies looking for their own people because everybody wore akwa ocha. So, if you recognised anyone that you know, you take the body and bury. Vultures were feasting on the dead, puncturing their stomachs,” he lamented in Igbo.

Take this from Femi Adebajo: “The Asaba massacre was more than a single orgy of wholesale and premeditated slaughter of civillians but a series of mass killings over several days, preceded by brutality from the invading 101 Division, and separated by a background level of occasional murders, rape, looting and destruction/expropriation of property including house,”

Trophy wives
Although the soldiers raped so many women, both young and old, they “married” so many others.

Compensation
After 52 years of living with the trauma, it appears do not want to dwell in bitterness and would rather move on. Therefore, the leadership of the Asaba Development Union Worldwide seeking some form of reparation from the Federal Government apart from tendering an apology. The President General of ADU, Professor Epiphany Azige, said the least they could ask for is a university at Asaba.
Last line: When Daily Sun visited Ogbeosowa last Thursday, a cenotaph had been erected in memory of the victims, with their names inscribed on the wall.

Politics › U.S. Grants Asylum To Ohimai Amaize, Nigerian Journalist by KEVIND(op): 9:56am On Jan 20, 2020
Ohimai Amaize, a former AIT presenter who fled Nigeria last year, has been granted asylum in the United States, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.

The journalist confirmed the development to PREMIUM TIMES in an e-mail Sunday. “I have just received notice of my asylum approval,” he said.

Mr Amaize, 35, departed Abuja in June 2019 following claims he was being trailed by Nigerian security agents with intention to arrest and charge him for treason and incitement. The alleged plots stemmed from a confrontation between the government and AIT and its flagship morning show, ‘Kakaaki Social’, a user-generated programme which Mr Amaize was anchoring at the time.

The Nigerian broadcast stations regulator, NBC, shut down the station for about 24 hours, alleging multiple infractions on federal guidelines for broadcasters. Although the station was reopened following a court order, its headquarters in Abuja was besieged by armed officers from the State Security Service, SSS.

Mr Amaize criticised the guidelines as arbitrary and repressive and subsequently fled to New York on June 11, citing threats to his safety by the SSS, police and other state agents and supporters. His wife, an Abuja-based fashion designer, also left Nigeria a few weeks later to join him.

American government grants asylum to individuals who have been able to substantiate claims of persecution in their home country, especially where such attacks are linked to their political opinion, religious beliefs and other fundamental rights.

“My forced exit from Nigeria last year has been a very traumatising experience for me and my family,” Mr Amaize told PREMIUM TIMES. “I am very happy and I thank God for this development.”

Before joining AIT in 2018, Mr Amaize was amongst top opposition voices highly critical of the Buhari administration. Between 2011 and 2015, he served as a media aide in the government of the Peoples Democratic Party, Nigeria’s erstwhile ruling party which Muhammadu Buhari’s All Progressives Congress defeated during the 2015 elections. He formally joined the PDP as a card-carrying member in 2015.

Although Mr Amaize was never arrested, he alleged regular threats to his life. He also frequently cited several other critics and journalists who were arrested and charged under repressive laws.

“I can now live and carry on with my life without the fear of being persecuted by the Muhammadu Buhari regime for the opinions that I express or the work that I do as a journalist,” Mr Amaize said. “Of course, I miss Nigeria so much because there is no place like home.”

Media rights advocates quickly saw Mr Amaize’s asylum breakthrough as a positive development for press freedom.

“This is a victory for press freedom, one that rekindles the hope of all defenders of civil liberties across the world,” Martin Obono, an Abuja-based rights activist, told PREMIUM TIMES. “We congratulate Mr Amaize and his family.”

Mr Obono said the expeditious manner Mr Amaize received asylum from the U.S. should put the Nigerian government on the notice that America and other nations of the free world would not tolerate any acts that stifle freedom.

The Buhari administration has continued to deny allegations of repression, saying the country’s civic space has flourished since 2015. The government said only those guilty of subversive plots were arrested, a claim that failed to hold up against mounting evidence of attacks against citizens’ fundamental rights.

“Asylum is usually a long and cumbersome process that could take years for an average seeker,” Mr Obono said. “That Mr Ohimai was able to receive it within a short period should evoke introspection of a government that is capable of reading signs from the international community.”

While wishing Nigeria a prosperous future, Mr Amaize appreciated those who supported him, especially AIT, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Human Rights First and his American attorneys Davis Polk and Wardwell LLP.

“I hope that in the not too distant future, Nigeria will return to a true democracy where a free press, freedom of expression and the rule of law are respected”, he said.

This topic has been over flogged and I am here to end it all. Ikwerre is an ethnic group in River State in the old Eastern Nigeria but fraudulently said to be in the South South.

A creation of the Fulani caliphate to disconnect us properly from the Igbo because of the oil, I have never seen South South on the compass or map anywhere in the world.

We the Ikwerre don’t have anything to do with the Igbo, we have our ancestry through Akalaka (Destiny in Igbo language) who came from Benin and settled in the present Ikwerre land.

‘The fact that Akalaka was the direct father of Ihru ọha (Ikwerre). Iwhnurọhna, in Ikwere parlance, means the face of the community (town, city or village). Nigerian colonial history records that the name “Ikwerre” was given by the colonial administration when they wanted to acquire the Rebisi waterfront to build the wharf. Using an Ibo interpreter to talk to the illiterate Rebisi (Port Harcourt) chiefs, they asked them: Would you permit us to use the waterfront to build the wharf for ships to berth? And the Chiefs answered: A KWERULEM , meaning – “We have agreed.” (In Igbo

OP didn't give the whole details.
Continuation:

A KWERULEM , meaning – “We have agreed.” (In Igbo)

What the white-man was hearing was “Ikwerre,” so he recorded it in the official gazette that the IKWERRE PEOPLE have agreed for the colonial administration to build the wharf.

Therefore ‘Akwerulam’ later metamorphosized in to Ikwerre, so we are not Igbo.

The umbrella union that gathers all Ikwerre worldwide is call Ogbakor Ikwerre (Gathering of Ikwerre in Igbo)

During the 2015 Presidential campaign, Chibuike Amaechi (Ikwerre man), Speaking in Igbo Izugbe (Central Igbo) while campaigning for Buhari in Aba, told the crowd that the person calling himself Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan(GEJ) is not an Igbo man like him, that if the crowd thinks GEJ is Igbo they should ask him to speak Igbo when he comes to campaign, and recently when people where complaining that Buhari have sidelined Igbo in his government, Chibuike Amaechi came out again to say that people got it wrong that the Igbo are getting their due appointment in Buhari government because he is an Igbo man with appointment in Buhari’s regime.

And then painfully enough Chibuike Amaechi won the Ohaneze Ndigbo Man of the year Award in 2015. Aru!!(Abomination) how could they award an Ikwerre man such accolades? I know their plan; they just want to steal our oil.

2018 December period I watched a video of Julius Agwu, the renowned comedian visit his mum in the village and found her in the farm, she spoke with him a dialect of Igbo I can understand clearly.

Meanwhile, Barr. Uche Okwukwu is the secretary General of Ohaneze Ndigbo and he is from ikwerre land, while the president of Ohaneze Ndigbo in River state is Prince Igo Okparanma from Isiokpo River State.

But I will tell you that we are still not Igbo, we are Ikwerre, get that into your think skull, all you want is our oil, the Fulani ruling cartel can have all the oil wells, you the Igbo already have the highest per capita income in Nigeria, manage that one.

During my university days in Jos Plateau State, I remember vividly whenever the Igbo Union is hosting the annual Igbo Day celebrations at the Jos Township stadium, they usually erect 6 canopies representing Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and the 6th canopy will house Igbo from Rivers, Delta and Benue States put together.

And also during the unending tribal and religious riots in Jos, we the Ikwerre will always run to an area known as Apata, which is an Igbo stronghold for safety, we can’t even run to an Benin strong hold for safety.

But remember we are still not Igbo, all you want is our oil. we will fight you and make sure you will never smell it, even though there is oil in Anambra, Imo and Abia states, your eyes is on our oil. Let the North that doesn’t have oil maintain all the oil wells in their possession already. Thank You.

If every preceding administration were borrowing at the rate Buhari is borrowing, by now Nigeria will have been so indebted that she would have been auctioned off.
In the last 4 years this regime have borrowed nothing less than 12 Trillion Naira and they want to borrow another 11 Trillion Naira (30 billion dollars). Haba.. Buhari want to suffocate Nigeria to death?
Politics › Re: $30 Billion Loan: Endless Borrowing Will Lead To Endless Sorrowing - Atiku Abuba by KEVIND: 7:34pm On Dec 17, 2019
We're already servicing our debt with half of our capital expenditure. Capital expenditure is 2.4 Trillion Naira while Debt servicing is 2.7 Trillion Naira as of 2019. If Buhari add the 30Billion Dollars loan to it. Hmmmm,na sorry for Nigeria be that!! Because there'll be no budget anymore for successive government after Buhari and for the future generation. All our budget will be use for debt servicing.
Politics › Re: Buhari Signs 2020 Budget by KEVIND:
SO there was no budget padding this time around?
National Assembly was built at a cost of 7Billion Naira in 1999 and in 2019 Buhari approves N37 billion for National Assembly renovation.
Soon the Senate (Stooge) will approved the 30 billion Dollar loan for him which will put Nigeria in huge debt Perpetually.
Its all about "you rub my back and i rub your back "
Proverbs 13:22: A good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children. But in this case, Buhari is leaving a huge debt for the future generation of Nigeria.

Transcorp Hotel Abuja Bans Lodging or Serving Female Customers Not Accompanied By A Man

Foremost Human Rights Activist, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, has criticized Transcorp Hilton Abuja for engaging in practices and issuing policies which according to him are discriminatory and against the law.

The erudite scholar voiced this stance while narrating an incident in which his sister, Ler Jonathan, was restricted from sitting at the bar for not being accompanied by a man.
Narrating the incident, he said:
“Yesterday evening on Human Rights Day, of all days, my sister Ler Jonathan goes into a bar on the ground floor of Hilton Abuja at the end of a long day of travel, settles in to request modest refreshing. She also has a business to transact; this is at the Lobby Bar.

So, she calls the attention of a waitress for a menu. The waitress approaches and quietly disqualifies her from service. According to this waitress, “company policy” of Hilton Abuja precludes her from serving females who are unaccompanied by a man. The waitress then goes away and returns thereafter bearing her supervisor who affirms her. At this, Ler Jonathan asks to speak to the duty manager, who confirmed that it was Hilton Abuja’s policy indeed not to serve women who are unaccompanied by men.”

He added that the unstated premise of this so-called policy is twofold. That, first, the woman, no matter how old she maybe is an infant. Secondly, Hilton Abuja sets up a policy that effectively smears every woman who shows up in the place as a sex worker. Speaking on the policy, he noted that it is backward, discriminatory, and unlawful.
“This policy of Hilton Abuja is backward, discriminatory, and unlawful. In 1992 the High Court of Zambia ruled in the case of Sara Hlupekile Longwe v. Intercontinental Hotel, when the hotel excluded Ms. Longer from service because she was female.

“Subsequently, Intercontinental Hotel reviewed its policies, practices and staff orientation to bring them in line with the law. In Nigeria, Hilton Abuja chooses to make money from being offensively antiquarian. There have to be costs,” he said.

He also noted that, meanwhile Transcorp CEO, who looks to run for government of Anambra State, has to sort this stuff before he saunters off on his political expedition. “This kind of practice under his watch can’t be exactly very pleasing to the hardworking women or Anambra when they hear it,” he added.
However, in a press release signed by the General Manager, Kevin Brett, the management stated that it frowns at discrimination.

They also stated that the alleged incident on gender-based discrimination is being investigated with a view to establishing the facts and dealing with the same, in line with their earlier zero-tolerance policy.

But the implementation of these principles shall not delay the determination of the future of Nigeria. All necessary guarantees shall however be written in the future constitution to establish the right of self-determination by any section.

A recall of the Ad-hoc Conference summoned by the then Lt-Col. Yakubu Gowon about two months after he took over power between September 12 and 28 and again between October 28 and November 4, 1966,would reveal that Northern leaders in the past had taken more radical positions on the constitution of Nigeria than these gentlemen have done.

The four regions in Nigeria mainly North, Mid-Western, West and Eastern Region attended the first session of the conference while no delegation from the East attended the second session of the conference because of the political situation in the country then.

The Northern delegation included Sir Kahim Ibrahim, Alhaji Inua Wada, Mallam Aminu Kano, Chief Joseph Sawuan Tarka, Alhaji Abdul Razak and Chief Josiah Sunday Olawoyin.

The Lagos delegation included Alhaji Femi Okunnu and Alhaji Lateef Jakande.

The Eastern delegation was led by Professor Eni Njoku with Chief C.C. Mojekwu, Chief E. Eyo and Chief Matthew Mbu as members.

The Midwest delegation led by Chief Anthony Enahoro also had Dr. Mudiaga Ogie.

The Western delegation was led by Chief Obafemi Awolowo and it included Professor Hezekiah Oluwasannmi assisted by Professors Ayo Ogunseye, Sam Aluko and Akin Mabogunje.
