Politics › Re: Why Nigerians Are Passionate About Dankwambo by KEVIND: 7:59am On Jun 29, 2018
Nobody is passionate about Dankwambo, infact I have not heard of him on the street here in South South.I only heard about him on Nairaland and on the pages of newspaper. The APC apologists want to sell him at all cost to the PDP so Buhari can have an easy ride come 2019 presidential election. He doesn't have any political sagacity and clout to wrestle power from APC/Buhari. Infact he is so sympathetic to the course of returning Buhari to power than taking power from him.
Politics › PLATEAU MASSACRE :Northern Youths Condemn Killings, Regrets Voting APC by KEVIND(op): 8:27am On Jun 27, 2018
Northern youths under the umbrella of Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) have expressed deep concern over the continued killing of innocent Nigerians, especially in states in the North Central zone, despite the presidency’s promise to stop the mayhem.
Of “most worrisome and painful” development, they regretted, was the onslaught on people in Plateau State with hundreds of them killed.

In a press statement AYF issued on Tuesday in Kaduna by its National President, Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu, the group declared that the pathetic situation signified that the present government had failed.

Gujungu said: “Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) is seriously worried and concerned about the unnecessary and avoidable loss of lives in Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South local government areas of Plataeu State.
“It is quite unfortunate that human lives are being lost almost on a weekly basis in Nigeria, mainly in northern parts of the country and the government is carrying on as if nothing is wrong in the country.

“We are worried because AYF is of the view that this killing is avoidable if the government rises to the occasion of its primary responsibility to Nigerians which is the protection of life’s and property,” he said.
The youths who described the situation as “very bad” said the happening “is a sign of the failure of government, a government that campaigned and promised to tackle insecurity in the country.”

They recalled that it was because of the promise made to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians that voters elected President Muhmmadu Buhari on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“It is quite unfortunate that after voting for the APC government, what we are witnessing now with this government is worse than what happened in 2015 before Nigerians voted out the previous government,” AYF regretted.

The forum enjoined the government to “act fast and deal with the situation before it is too late,” stressing that “a situation where Nigerians are now feeling unsafe in their homes is not good for us as a people and for peaceful coexistence.

“In particular, we are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil his promise of bringing lasting solution to the killings across the country.
“The President had come out to say that desperate politicians are behind the killings. We are challenging him to immediately arrest those behind the killings or stop the blame game and get to work,” AYF said.
Apparently realising that the situation is beyond Nigerians and of course, the present administration, the concerned youths said that “we want to use this opportunity to call on the United Nations (UN) and the international community to urgently intervene. Assist us in arresting this drift towards anarchy. The present administration has shown lack of will and capacity to tackle the menace.

“Apart from Plateau State, killings are taking place across the country, in Adamawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Benue, Taraba among other states. Much as we condemn these wicked acts, enough is enough of the bloodshed,” Gujungu warned.

Politics › Killings In Zamfara More Than The Numbers In Plateau And Benue - Buhari by KEVIND(op): 6:21am On Jun 27, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that it is unjustifiable to blame him for the killing of Nigerians by suspected armed herdsmen in different parts of the country.

Buhari vowed to prosecute the perpetrators of killings in Plateau State, assuring that he would not relent in his responsibility to protect the lives and properties of every Nigerian.

This is as Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau declared that over 200 people died in the attacks.

Lalong said the gory pictures of the killing of innocent citizens, women and children continue to “torment our hearts.”

The President spoke yesterday at an interactive session with stakeholders in Jos, the Plateau State capital, in the aftermath of the recent killings in some communities in the state.

Suspected herdsmen had laid a 48-hour siege to eight villages of Gashish and Ropp districts in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau.

The villages are Xland, Gindin Akwati, Ruku, Nghar, Kura Falls and Kakuruk all in Gashish District as well as Rakok, Kok and Razat villages all in Ropp District.
While commiserating with relatives of those who lost their loved ones, Buhari said the killings in Zamfara State was, however, more than the numbers recorded in Plateau and Benue states put together, stressing that Plateau killings should not be seen as a religious crisis.

RIP to the dead.
Politics › Plateau Massacre: Military Planning Secret Burial For Victims by KEVIND(op): 6:18am On Jun 26, 2018
The burial of over 200 victims of the recent attacks in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen generated a serious controversy following allegations that security agencies want to carry out the exercise in secret .

Sources said that relatives of the deceased wanted to pick the corpses for burial because they have started decomposing , while tension continued to escalate despite the dusk to dawn curfew imposed by the government .
Already , some travellers coming in and out of Jos were said to have been killed .
The attack was said to have spread to a village called Kwi where an old woman who could not escape was reportedly killed while many houses were burnt .

The Chairman , Public Accounts and Petition
Committee in Plateau State House of Assembly representing Barkin Ladi constituency , Peter Gyendeng , and the President of Middle Belt Youth Council , Emma Zopmal , in an interview with The PUNCH , believed that the planned secret burial was to cover up some facts and conspiracy of soldiers in the killings .

According to them , every effort they made to evacuate the corpses for burial met a stiff resistance from the military hierarchy.

But the Commander of Special Military Taskforce codenamed Operation Safe Haven, Maj . Gen . Anthony Atolagbe, explained that state of the corpses was so bad that if allowed to be taken away , it would stir up serious tensions and mayhem in the state .

Gyendeng said , “We tried to take all the corpses to give them mass burial. But the STF Commandant stopped every movement that we made concerning the dead bodies. In fact, he did not allow anybody to go there yesterday ( Sunday) . We organised our own security and mobile policemen to escort us there . But we were stopped on the road .

“Our people stayed there till 6: pm , we had to come back for security reasons too . The corpses are still there and they have started decomposing . I ’m just entering my LG now to see what else could be done . We have taken pictures of the corpses .

“It is obvious that the government does not want the world to know the genocide that is happening in my place . They are trying to cover the number of dead people in that place . All we know is that there is genocide in our land . Today ( Monday ) , they entered a village called Kwi, there was community resistance . In a village called Bed , they sent armed soldiers to come and disarm the local people who were defending themselves .

“ Yesterday ( Sunday ) , the Fulani militia wanted to enter the area. But now , soldiers have been sent to disarm the local people , leaving them helpless . We don’t know what is happening, it is something that cannot be explained. A curfew was imposed yesterday ( Sunday ) . But the Fulani men and their cows were escorted by soldiers at night.”

The legislator promised to make the correct figure and gory pictures of the deceased available on Tuesday ( today ) , during parliamentary sitting .
According to Zopmal, the affected communities should resist the planned secret burial because the corpses did not belong to the security agencies and the government .

He said , “The planned secret burial is a conspiracy , we know that there is collusion between the security agencies and the Fulani people . There is no way you can force people to bury their relations when they are not ready for it. The dead bodies belong to them , so they are not government ’s corpses that they will now decide when to bury them .

“The affected communities should not allow that to happen . The security agencies did not protect them . Why should they decide the burial for them ? It doesn ’t make any sense , they are trying to cover up what they have done . It is all part of the same attitude that the Nigerian government has been exhibiting .”

Crime › No One Should Expect Peace In Plateau, prepare For More Attacks- Fulani Herdsmen by KEVIND(op): 10:52am On Jun 25, 2018
Barely hours after about 86 people were killed and 50 houses burnt in Plateau attacks carried out by Fulani Herdsmen, Danladi Ciroma, the Chairman, North Central zone of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), reacted by stating that peace should not be expected in the area.

According to him, there will be no peace until about 300 cattle which he alleges to have been stolen by people of those areas are returned.

Read his words below;

“These attacks are retaliatory. As much as I don’t support the killing of human being, the truth must be told that those who carried out the attacks must be on revenge mission.

“There have been recent reports of cow rustling and destruction of farms between Berom farmers and Fulani herdsmen. The people carrying out these criminal activities are well known to the communities but the communities are hiding them.

“Fulani herdsmen have lost about 300 cows in the last few weeks – 94 cows were rustled by armed Berom youths in Fan village, another 36 cows were killed by Berom youths. In addition to that, 174 cattle were rustled and the criminals disappeared with them to Mangu.

“Since these cows were not found, no one should expect peace in the areas. Even soldiers that went after the criminals to recover the rustled cows were shot by the armed rustlers and eventually escaped with all the cows.

“The government of Governor Lalong has done a lot to restore peace, but the criminal elements hiding among their people are the ones frustrating these peace efforts.

“Though the security agencies have tried, they need to do more by being fair to all parties; they should not neglect any report presented by Fulani of Berom because such report can lead to attacks and deaths if not properly handled.

“Criminals thrive a lot in Berom communities, but when the Fulani, who are always victims of their crime, react with attacks, they blame the government.

“These communities have leaders, why hide the criminals? They should fish out the criminals and hand them over to security agencies to avoid death of innocent ones.

“As it is today, the Berom man cannot go to farm, the Fulani cannot breed his cows in Berom Land. This can be stopped if the security agencies do more than what they are currently doing. The attacks will stop as soon as the security agencies stop Berom youths from stealing Fulani cows”

Politics › Herdsmen Kill 42 In Fresh Plateau Attack by KEVIND(op): 5:38pm On Jun 24, 2018
No fewer than 42 persons were killed on Saturday night when Fulani herdsmen unleash terror on Gana Ropp and Gashis villages of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Daily Sun gathered that the planned attacks which took place at about 8:30pm simultaneously in Gashis and Gana ropp left many dead and several others inflicted gunshots injuries.

It was learned that the attackers set on fire Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Gana Ropp and several houses with food stuff worth millions of naira.
National Chairman of Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Choji Dalyop, confirmed the incident and said they have evacuated 34 corpses from Gana Ropp and 8 out of Gashis.

He said the attack which was carefully planned by the herdsmen and aided by some military personnel has sacked villagers from about five communities and several dead bodies are still being recovered.

“I believe that this attack was carefully planned by the herdsmen in collaboration with some military personnel who aided the attack. We have recovered 34 corpses from Gana Ropp and 8 from Gashis while several others have not been recovered.

“The corpses would be close to 100 because apart from 42 corpses that we have recovered, we are mobilising people to go into the villages to pick other corpses corpses that have not been recovered.”
Plateau Government condemns recent attack, sue for peace.

Police Public Relation Officer of Plateau State Police Command, ASP Matthias Tyopev, confirmed the incident and said he has not been furnished with details about the casualty.
He said the casualty figure would be made public as soon as he get the detail.

Also, Spokesman of the Operation Safe Haven, popularly known as Special Task Force (STF) in charge of internal security in Jo’s and environs, Major Umar Adams, said there was an attack in Gashis, Gana Ropp and Gindin Akwati communities of Barkin-Ladi and their troops repel the attackers.

He said the casualty figure is not certain and pledged to brief our reporters as soon as he get the details.

Meanwhile, Plateau State Government wishes to commiserate with citizens of the state especially, Xland, Gindin Akwati communities of Barkin Ladi Local Government, over unfortunate recent attacks.

Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Yakubu Dati, in a press statement said government is deeply pained that despite concerted efforts which had led to the restoration of relative peace across the state, some unpatriotic elements are bent on disrupting the gains so far made.

“Government condemns these attacks and has mobilised the full compliments of security forces who are restoring normalcy in the affected areas and the environs.

“Government holds every single live as sacred hence, has mobilized medical and relief agencies to ameliorate the suffering of those in distress.

“As a government, we are committed to ensuring a safe and secured environment that will guarantee peaceful coexistence among the various groups in the state as we remain resolute to the well being of our people.

“We however appeal to citizens not to take laws into their hands and cooperate with security agencies to prevent further break down of law and order as they track perpetrators of the evil act.

Hon. Dati advised citizens to use the “Early warning system” mechanism recently launched by Operation Rainbow on the following numbers 30812 SMS, 09060100010 Voice to report suspicious movement.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a press statement by the State Publicity Secretary, John Akans said the party received with rude shock the level of genocide going on now in Gashish District, Razat, Ruku Nyarr and Gana-Ropp, all in Barkin Ladi Local Government. We also note with great pains the dastardly attacks ongoing in many other local government areas in the State by the Fulani militias.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the level of continuous genocide of Plateau people. At the moment Barkin ladi is under siege by the marabus with over 130 people feared to have been killed . As at time of this statement, the (SOM) CAPRO school of missions Gana-Ropp is under heavy attack by the militias.

“This unholy act of systematic genocide and the destruction of the cultural heritage of plateau people must stop.

“We call on the international community to come to the aid of Plateau people as besides the over 130 people killed many are missing.”

Politics › Ohaneze Ndigbo Demands Abaribe’s Release As DSS Searches His Residence by KEVIND(op): 7:38am On Jun 23, 2018
Operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS, who earlier on Friday picked up the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, have invaded his Apo residence in Abuja, just as Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo cultural body called for his immediate release.

The DSS operatives who came in a Hilux bus with Abaribe were seen carrying out some search on his duplex abode.

Sources said the security operatives who came with a search warrant claimed they were looking for materials associated with the outlawed Independent People of Biafra, IPOB.

Abaribe who represents Abia South in the Senate was earlier in the day picked up by DSS operatives at Nicon Hilton in Abuja where he had gone for an haircut.

As at press time, the security agents were still holed up at the Senator’s residence with no formal information from the DSS as to why the Senator was picked up

Following the development, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has demanded for the immediate and unconditional release of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe by the Department of State Service (DSS). In a release signed by the it’s President-General, Chief Nnia Nwodo and made available to THISDAY, Friday night, the organisation insisted that arresting the lawmaker based on his inability to produce the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu was totally out of place.

Reacting to the arrest, an Igbo socio-cultural group, Igbo Bu Igbo, has condemned “the continued indiscriminate arrest and persecution of political and business leaders of Igbo extraction by overzealous security agents”.

However, sources close to the embattled senator alleged that the arrest was not unconnected with allegations that the presidency padded and distorted the budget which slashed allocations to key development projects including the building of Akanu-Ibiam International Airport Terminal in Enugu.

Abaribe led lawmakers of Igbo extraction to allege that the executive padded the 2018 budget with N30 billion after passage by the National Assembly.

Nwodo said the circumstances prevailing at the time of the disappearance of Nnamdi Kanu were beyond the contemplation of the law that a surety can guarantee the production of an accused person.

“The army in the name of “Operation Python Dance” invaded Nnamdi’s home and destabilised normalcy there,” he said.

The organisation further noted that it was only the security agencies that could disclose Nnamdi’s whereabouts, adding that Abaribe had no capacity, nor had any surety in the circumstances to know the whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu.

“What happened in Umahia was an invasion, a war of a kind.

“Nnamdi may have been killed or captured in the imbroglio or even escaped into hiding.

“The onus lies on the security forces to disclose his whereabouts.

Politics › APC Throws 29 Elective Positions Open As ‘unity List’ Flops by KEVIND(op): 7:20am On Jun 23, 2018
Barring any last minute change, 29 of the elective offices up for grab at today’s first elective National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), will be thrown open to aspirants.

THISDAY gathered that conflict of interests among key stakeholders of the party led to the death of the consensus plan aimed at ensuring an easy and rancour-free election.

After series of consultations failed to secure endorsement for a consensus list of aspirants yesterday, the party asked each zone to go and draw up its own unity list which will be harmonised at the convention venue.

However, the immediate past governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, was confirmed for the chairmanship position, following the withdrawal of his opponents – Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, Clement Ebri and Chief Ibrahim Emokpaire.

As a result of the failed “unity list”, about 160 aspirants will slug it out for 29 seats in the National Working Committee while aspirants for the 21 NWC positions will be returned unopposed.

Three aspirants will contest for the position of National Secretary. They are the incumbent, Mai Mala Buni, Kashim Imam, Waziri Bulama and Abdulrahaman Terab.

Out of the about 160 aspirants, 17 are from the South-east alone and they are contesting for the three NWC positions of National Vice Chairman, National Organising Secretary and National Auditor.

The aspirants for the Organising Secretary’s position include the incumbent, Osita Izunaso (South-east caucus); Emma Ibediro (Governor Okorocha’s candidate); Chidi Nwogu (from Okadigbo Rainbow Coalition) Longinus Anyanwu (from anti-Okorocha’s group).

For the National Publicity Secretary’s position, the incumbent, Bolaji Abdulahi will battle Lanre Issa Onilu and Abu Sidik Meseko.

Contestants for the National Woman Leader’s position are the incumbent, Ramatu Aliyu and Salmatu Bawa.

Meanwhile, Abuja is agog with about 6,800 delegates and thousands of other dignitaries, party men and women, camped in various hotels across the city.

Politics › We Didn’t Make Cuts To Second Niger Bridge, Enugu Airport Projects – Senate by KEVIND(op): 10:25am On Jun 22, 2018
…alleges power sector budget padding by executive

The South-East Caucus in the Senate has opposed the alterations made by the National Assembly to the 2018 budget.

The South-East caucus faulted the reduction in the funds allocated for the Second Niger Bridge and the Enugu Airport projects.
The Senate South-East Caucus expressed surprise over the slashing of the N2bn allocated to the Enugu Airport Terminal to N500m.

The Chairman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, told journalists in Abuja on Thursday that members of the caucus were shocked to hear that the initial amount, which was jointly adopted by the Committees on Aviation at the Senate and House of Representatives, had been reduced.

Abaribe, who is representing Abia South Senatorial District, said an emergency meeting by senators from the South-East had been called to unravel who made the cut and at what point was it made.
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, said the caucus was set to meet to find out what went wrong especially at what point the cut in the allocation was made.

He pointed out that budget documents were verifiable and “we are committed and determined to find out who made the cut.”
The senator recalled that the South-East lawmakers lobbied for the allocation to the airport to be increased to N3.5bn but were told by the Ministry of Aviation that it had an envelope budgetary plan, which would not allow an increment beyond the N2bn.

Abaribe alleged that N30bn was smuggled into the power budget without his committee’s knowledge.
According to him, the money was listed for expansion and re-enforcement of infrastructure in the distribution companies to reduce stranded firms.
The allocation, he said, “never passed through the Senate Power committee.” He asked, “Where did such huge sum of N30bn come from?”

“Let the Budget Office and other relevant bodies conduct a self-examination. Such self-examination will go a long way to clear certain grey areas,” Abaribe stated.

He added, “In the case of the Enugu Airport Terminal and the Second Niger Bridge, we want to find out at what point the cut was made.”
Abaribe said members of the caucus were collectively agitated. According to him, the geopolitical zone, which hardly receives a fair share of the national projects, had the little that came its way reduced.

He stated that no right thinking Igbo man would support slashing of allocation to projects in the South-East.

Politics › South, Middle Belt Leaders Raise Alarm Over Alleged Plans To Rig 2019 Poll by KEVIND(op): 11:33am On Jun 11, 2018
Southern and Middle Belt Leaders’ Forum has raised concerns that there are indications to rig the 2019 elections in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC ) .
This has stirred calls for the removal of Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) , Professor Mahmoud Yakubu .

Urging Nigerians to be vigilant and frustrate such efforts , they said Yakubu ’ s choice as INEC Chairman and the service chiefs who ought to have retired , was very suspicious and tallies with the narrative that they were poised to play partisan roles in favour of the incumbent.

In a statement by Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum ( PANDEF ) , Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga , the forum said from 1960 till date , only President Muhammadu Buhari has been audacious enough to pick only people who are either his relations or of the same ethnic group with him to head the electoral body .

Nkanga said President Buhari was the first to appoint his relation , Mrs . Amina Zakari from the Northwest as Acting Chairman when he became President in 2015 before he appointed Professor Mahmood Yakubu from the Northeast as substantive chairman .

“The relationship between Zakari and Yakubu is so strong that it has the tendency to influence the outcome of the election in favour of the appointee ,” he said .

He pointed out that past heads of state : Shehu Shagari , Ibrahim Babangida , Sani Abacha , Abdulsalami Abubakar , Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan , appointed heads of the electoral body from other ethnic groups .

While stating that the INEC Chairman was yet to release the report of the committee set up to investigate alleged underage voting from results of the 2015 elections in Kano , he added that Yakubu may not be able to discharge his functions impartially since he came from the same region as the President.

He also cited the case of Inspector General of Police ( IGP ) , Ibrahim Idris , in relation to the 2015 elections in Kano when he was Commissioner of Police ( CP ) in the state .

Nkanga noted that the Resident Electoral Commissioner ( REC ) who would have been questioned over the outcome of the election was found dead with his wife and two children in a mysterious inferno .

“Idris , however , after being promoted to IGP over his superior officers whose careers were abruptly terminated , explained away the deaths within a few hours without any serious investigation .

“Discipline has been eroded under the IGP, as we saw in a policeman who should be guarding a bank in Lagos getting recruited by a politician in Ekiti State where he shot people at a campaign rally ,” he added .

Politics › Any Govt That Watches Its People Killed Everyday Has Failed – Rotimi Amaechi by KEVIND(op): 10:04am On Jun 11, 2018
The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has noted that any government that watches the killing of its people on a daily basis is irresponsible.
Amaechi said that the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has failed in providing good governance for the people of the state.
The former governor said that under Wike’s watch, killings and massacre of the people persist all over the state on a daily basis.
Amaechi, the leader of the APC in Rivers, said this at the weekend at a rally where he received hundreds of supporters of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, into the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bera, headquarters of Gokana Local Government Area of the state.
He said, “Every government has a responsibility to protect lives and property. The reason there is a government is because the people are alive. If a person dies there will be no government.
“Any government that watches its people killed every day is an irresponsible government. Governor Wike watches his people killed every day.
“I met a woman yesterday whose husband was killed in front of her with her son watching. It could have been any of you. I can assure you today that this government of Wike has failed.
“When I was your governor, you slept and I kept awake. As governor, I chased away criminals to their holes. I know that the reason they are into crime was because they had no money for them.
“I knew that for you to stop a man from crime you need to provide an alternative means of livelihood. And to do that, I started building infrastructures. I built schools, hospitals and health centres.

yarimo:
If this are the kind of candidates that want to contest for president in 2019, I have nothing to say Rather than. to Congratulate president BUHARI in advance as president elect in 2019 presidential election grin
I have said it before and I'll repeat it again. I don't know why APC apologist are trying very hard to sell these individuals to PDP as presidential candidate. They know vividly Buhari will have an easy ride in 2019 if any of them is presented as presidential candidate. Dankwambo And Donald Duke do not have the political clout to challenge PMB in 2019 election.

Politics › Ahead Of 2019 Election: Buhari Rewards Supporters With Crude Oil Deals. by KEVIND(op): 7:11am On Jun 09, 2018
Other than the usual traders – Sahara and Oando – whose names have been on almost every NNPC crude buyers list for years whoever has been leading the country, President Muhammadu Buhari and his trusted oil sector guides (Abba Kyari – chief of staff), Mamman Daura (cousin) and Maikanti Kacalla Baru (NNPC GMD) have chosen to favour businessmen that will campaign for their bid running up to the presidential elections in 2019. The provisional list doing the rounds presents carefully distributed quotas for the next two years.

Spoilt in the north

Several northern companies are set to receive crude cargoes for the second year in a row. Buhari will be looking to pamper this constituency that had been instrumental in his win in 2015. Those on the list include AA Rano (Auwalu Abdullahi Rano)and AMG Petroenergy (Risqua Murtala Muhammed), as well as MRS (Alhaji Sayyu Idris Dantata, Aliko Dangote’s half-brother) Prudent Energy owned by businessman Abdulwasiu Sowami (Borno) would also see its second quote of crude, as would Mahmud Tukur (Adamawa), he,ad of Eterna Oil & gas and son of the former opponent PDP party leader, Bamanga Tukur. Levene Energy is also on the list to pick up a second consecutive year of crude. This company is reportedly controlled by friends of aviation minister of state, Sirika Hadi (Katsina). The same goes for Setana, headed by Edward Edozian, the cousin of the permanent secretary to the ministry of energy, Luis Edozian.

Southerners, Igboland and Delta

Knowing full well that he will not be able to win another term without the south, Buhari will need to use NNPC crude to win over a handpicked selection of businessmen. Some of them are also about to win their second round in a row, such as Arkleen Oil and Gas (Gregory Omosigho Ero, Edo State and former Napims CEO), Bono Energy (Banjo Omisore, Oyo State), Shoreline Energy (Kola Karim) and Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah’s Masters Energy (Abia).

However, it would be the first crude allocations for Aipec (Tayo Awogboro, formerly Oando, Lagos State) and Emadeb (Adebowale Emmanuel Olujimi). The vastly wealthy Ondo state leader, Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan is also on the list via Obat Oil. The secretary of state to oil, Emmanuel Kachikwu should also be able to push for Northwest Petroleum, directed by his friend Winifred Akpani (Cross River).-Africa Intelligence.
