3 Reasons why Angela Merkel and Theresa May are coming to Nigeria 1.Migration and Terrorism - Merkel talks with Buhari will revolve around how to stem the influx of Nigerians to Germany and Europe through Libya. 2. Post-Brexit trade ties - UK seeks new business relationships outside of Europe, after the Brexit vote of June 2016. 3. Speaking with the private sector -May will hold meetings with private sector players in Nigeria’s commercial capital city of Lagos, before leaving the continent. PMB should ask something in return from them. I pray he should not go about demeaning and de-marketing Nigeria and her people . |

FEW days after he wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, urging him to face the National Assembly in his fight against corruption, maverick musician and activist, Charly Boy has penned another letter. This time, he wrote to God Almighty. In the letter he posted on his Instagram page, Charly Boy urged God not to allow Nigerians to repeat the mistake they made in 2015, when they massively voted for the incumbent administration. According to the Areafada, as he’s popularly called by fans, ‘God allowed President Buhari to win in 2015, because He wanted to teach Nigerians a lesson. Dear God, You allowed Buhari to win in 2015 just to teach us a lesson.I swear father Lord, we have learnt the lesson. Please don’t let us repeat the class,”he wrote. Also frowning at those who praised President Buhari for treking about 800 metres from the Eid praying ground in Daura to his private residence, Charly Boy wrote, “ Oga President is not being praised for creating jobs or getting suffering Nigerians out of poverty. He’s being praised for treking two poles. Make e dey look like sey em strong, abi? Abegi” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/08/charly-boy-writes-god-over-buharis-re-election-bid/ |
This trick will not fly this time around. This is not 2014 when Nigerians were inundated with all kinds of scheming just to package Buhari, and make him appear as a poor man. I can't forget the famous narrative that ‘Buhari took bank loan to purchase APC nomination form’, and the N40 sachet Milo.

The immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has been appointed spokesman of the coalition seeking to defeat his former party and President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. Abdullahi is now the head of Media and Publicity committee of the newly formed Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) The committee has Kazeem Afegbua and Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as members. Abdullahi’s committee was among the several subcommittees inaugurated Monday in Abuja by the steering committee of CUPP. Two days later, he announced that he had dropped Buhari’s appointment. The former minister wrote: “Following my resignation as National Publicity Secretary of APC and my decision to quit the party, I announced to the board this morning that I have resigned my appointment as Chairman, Nigeria Sugar Development Council.” http://dailypost.ng/2018/08/07/apc-ex-spokesman-bolaji-abdullahi-now-media-head-coalition-buhari/ |
Is the money and resources his personal money or is it coming from his region. How can someone from the North use 2% of the resources from Niger delta to bribe some states in the Niger delta and he expect us to clap for him. |
Nogodye:So you think Tinubu is supporting Buhari for nothing? his support is tied to the power shift in 2023. I'll implore you to leave the SE out of their agreement. Afteral Buhari doesn't need the vote of the south east & south south to win according to him - the 5%. |
igbodefender:If its not deception pls what is it? A man who tag the whole of the South East region 5% will gladly hand over to the Igbos? A man who said he doesn't know what the Igbos want afteral he has giving them ministerial positions,so you think he will gladly hand over to an Igbo in 2023? You must be kidding me right now. I trust the people of the south east, they can't be fooled by such deceit. Lets I forgot, the Elders of the south east have stated that they are not interested in the presidency, so I'll advice Buhari and the APC to stop the game & the scheming because it's dead on arrival. |
igbodefender:Buhari that didn't seem not to see any igbo man worthy of any sensitive position especially in the head of the security Chiefs will gladly hand over to the Igbos? keep deceiving yourself but you can't deceive them. |
Juliusmalema : BRAHIM BUNU TELLS THE TRUTH TO AUTHORITY! Do you think you have seen Nigeria at her worse economic meltdown or seen the worse killings and religious wars yet? Well if you think so then just wait until our very dear PMB wins the 2019 presidential election then you'll know better... In the meantime, please ignore your hatred for reading and read this to the end because it is a wake-up call to all of us who wants things to get better in Nigeria. WHY ARE WE BLAMING BUHARI AND NOT OURSELVES! Written by IBRAHIM BUNU. In 2015, we changed a govt under which human beings and businesses fared well. The South watched as the Northern oligarchy, with the help of Lagos media, demonised the govt of the day, manipulated the electoral process to install a radical Islamist and we said nothing. 1. He appointed our Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Air Staff from his tribe/religion, we said nothing. 2. He appointed our National Security Adviser from his tribe/religion,we said nothing. 3. He followed it up with appointment of DG DSS from his village/ religion, we clapped for him. 4. He appointed Chairman EFCC from his tribe/religion; we kept quiet. 5. He appointed IGP from his religion and we said nothing. 6. He appointed Minister of Defence from his tribe and religion, we said nothing. 7. He appointed Minister of Interior from his tribe/religion, and we clapped for him. 8. He appointed CG Immigration from his tribe and religion, we were the more quiet. 9. He appointed CG Civil Defence from his own religion and region, we said nothing. 10. He appointed CG Prisons from his own tribe and religion and we hailed him. 11. He appointed DG NIA from his village, tribe and religion and we said it is his prerogative as President. 12. He appointed Chief of Defence Intelligence from his tribe and religion; we were the more quiet. 13. He appointed his kinsman, same religion, tribe and region the INEC Chairman, just to ensure he declares him winner even if he loses, and we equally said nothing! 14. He appointed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice from his tribe and religion, we said nothing too! 15. A man is elected President and he concentrated the appointments of heads of entire security agencies in the country in one religion and region and you didn't notice it was in furtherance of an agenda? 16. Why is he so interested in having all the security heads from his religion and region? 17. Generals Obasanjo and T.Y. Danjuma, President Buhari's major supporters, have come out publicly to speak on their fears for Nigeria. The elders know Nigeria is sliding into great danger. Any moment from now, like they called Chief Obasanjo names; they will call Gen. Danjuma too. They might tell you it's because PMB has stopped corruption that the General is angry and crying. They won't tell you that General Danjuma is a very rich Nigerian already that do not need anything from govt appointees. 18. Once President Buhari returned from London, after his last discharge from hospital, at the peak of IPOB agitation, he made a national broadcast and launched "Operation Python Dance" to deal with IPOB. His Attorney General applied to court to declare IPOB a terror group and proscribe it. IPOB never killed a single Nigerian to our knowledge. 19. Uptill this day, the President has not made any broadcast on fulani herdsmen and their militant wing, that have killed and pillaged Nigerians in their thousands. Their leaders come out to take responsibility for such killings and they are still walking free. No arrest. No prosecution. It is an agenda. 20. Who do we now blame? We were warned but we didn't heed the warnings. We needed change so badly and anything but Jonathan was fine. 21. Chief Femi Falana, Pastor Bakare and other rights advocates, you have let Nigerians down. You spoke so vehemently against GEJ but kept quiet in the face of tyranny, injustice and killing of Nigerians under PMB. God will request the blood of the Nigerians who have died in the hands of the emboldened herdsmen,at your hands. As General Danjuma said, we are in real danger in Nigeria. Silence is no longer golden! IBRAHIM BUNU. Northern Integrity. Copied. |
The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole saturday exonerated the marauding herdsmen from the killings in some parts of the country. Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo State, also said some people were turning the truth upside down to portray the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in bad light by linking all the killings in some states in the country as the handwork of herdsmen. He exonerated the herdsmen at a rally he addressed in Abakaliki yesterday to receive some defectors to the APC, assuring Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies were working hard to end insecurity in the country. Some of the defectors include Sen. Sunny Ogboji, former Minister of Power and Steel, Mr. Goody Ogbaga, former Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Mr. Ifeanyi Odoh and former Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Nwankwegu. At the rally, the national chairman urged Nigerians not “to allow themselves to be deceived by the antics of selfish politicians in the country who are trying to give the security challenges in the country an ethnic colouration in other to score cheap political points.” He stressed that the security challenges were a ploy “to portray the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in bad light by portraying all the killings in some states in the country as the handwork of herdsmen. “Let me urge you to be more careful because this season people are spreading untruth. People are being hired to turn the gospel upside down. They want us to believe that every problem should be explained in ethnic and religious terms. “We have a problem and we must confront those problems. Criminals must be dealt with individually as criminals and government at all levels must work hard to protect every Nigerian regardless of tribe or religion.” Oshiomhole urged the people of the South-east to vote for APC and Buhari in the 2019 elections as he has delivered democratic dividends to the zone.

The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has strongly rebuked commanders of Army operations in Nigeria’s North East for “cowardly” fleeing attacks of Boko Haram insurgents. Buratai, who handed the Army commanders a new set of operational standards in a memo date July 27, expressed displeasure at the alleged situations where the troops of the “Operation Lafia Dole” abandon their duty posts due to terrorists’ attacks. The Army Chief specifically frowned at the development, expressing worry that the troops flee attacks from Boko Haram without resisting them reasonably. Buratai said the conduct of troops has a way of ruining the successes of the military’s anti-terrorism war and thereby debasing the morale of soldiers in other theatres of operation. The memo reads: “Recent occurrences in” ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ “where units abandon their positions cowardly in the face of action” from Boko Haram terrorists “without reasonable resistance is worrisome,” Mr Buratai said in the July 27 memo to all commanders, adding that it “portrayed” them as “incompetent and cowardly”. “It also has the potentials to rubbish all the laudable gains made” in the war against Boko Haram “Consequently,” Mr Buratai, a lieutenant-general, said any commander who “abandons his position in the face” of enemy fire “leading to avoidable death of troops and loss of equipment will be subjected” to harsh punishments as enumerated in the Armed Forces Act. “All should be re “He’s supposed to provide strategic intelligence to the troops,” a commander said. “But had severally informed them and the world that BH is completely defeated.”minded that the law recommended any officer or soldier found guilty of cowardly behavior ‘shall on conviction by a court martial be liable to suffer death or any less punishment provided by the Act,’ depending on the circumstances of the case.” However, a Army commander who spoke under strict anonymity to Premium Times condemned Buratai shying away from the real reasons responsible for the recent ambush and subsequent deaths of some troops at the war front. “He’s supposed to provide strategic intelligence to the troops,” a commander said. “But had severally informed them and the world that BH is completely defeated,” the newspaper quoted the commander as saying. The military source specifically blamed the development where the troops abandon their duty posts on alleged failures of the Chief of Army Staff. The commander also faulted the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to maintain the armoured vehicles and tanks purchased by the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s government. “All the armoured vehicles and T72 tanks brought by former President Goodluck Jonathan (which this gov’t refused to sustain) have broken down and in a state of disrepair,” the officer said. “Imagine Cameroonian soldiers had to come 60 kilometres into Nigeria to support us in Sambisa,” he said. “We keep begging them to support us because they have the equipment that we don’t have.” The commander added that, “Same thing being done with Chad at the Lake Chad region, it is really sad.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/278792-boko-haram-army-chief-buratai-spits-fire-warns-commanders-against-fleeing-from-terrorists.html |

INEC had received N450bn from 1999- 2018. INEC will receive N242.45bn in 2019. The 2019 general elections are set to be Nigeria’s most expensive polls in history, according to Daily Trust investigations of approved official expenditure of past elections. President Muhammadu Buhari had proposed N242.45bn (equivalent to $672.35m at official exchange rate) to the National Assembly for next year’s general elections. The money will be shared between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and five other security agencies that police the elections. The federal electoral umpire will spend a total of N190bn, representing 73.51 percent of the proposed amount, while the remaining N52.45bn (26. 49 percent) would go to security agencies that will police the voting process. The breakdown shows that the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) was allocated N4.28bn, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) N3. 57bn, Nigeria Police Force N30.54bn, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) N2.63bn, and Directorate of State Security (DSS) N12.21bn. During the 2015 elections, with 67m registered voters, Nigeria spent $625m, according to data prepared by the National Institute for Legislative Studies (NILS) in 2015. INEC had at a recent stakeholders’ summit in Abuja said that over 100 political parties may feature on the ballot paper during the 2019 polls, while an estimated 80m voters may take part in the elections. The election budget is about $50m higher than what Nigeria spent during 2015 elections. What INEC is set to get this year is also more than half of what the commission got from 1999 to 2015 as electoral expenditure. From 1999 to 2018, the INEC had received N450bn as an electoral expenditure from the federal government, according to official documents reviewed by Daily Trust. These figures did not include other money INEC got from international organisations working on election areas over the period. The federal government, through the National Assembly, approves money (electoral expenditure) for INEC during election years, apart from its traditional budgetary allocations. Nigeria to spend more than India, UK Nigeria’s elections cost higher than the $600m the Electoral Commission of India (ECI) spent during the 2014 general elections in which 553.8m people voted out of 815m registered voters. The cost of conducting elections in Nigeria is also higher than those of bigger economies such as Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Canada, for instance, spent $375m on electoral expenditure where 17.5m voted. The United Kingdom spent £113m during its 2010 parliamentary elections in which 45.6m voted. £28.6m was the cost of distributing candidates’ mailings, and £84.6m for the conduct of the poll. Kenya, with 14.3m registered voters, spent $427m during its general elections in 2012 and $499m in 2017, while Australia, with 14.7m voters, spent $197.6m for the House of Representatives and half of Senate elections in 2013. Budget to enhance card readers - INEC But the director of voter education and publicity of INEC, Oluwole Osaze Uzzi, said the INEC budget will be used in procurement of enough card readers, upgrading them for the elections, as well funding overhead cost. The INEC director, who spoke in a television programme monitored by our reporter, said: “You do know that your laptops, even in the best storage conditions, don’t work efficiently and effectively as they did eight years ago. Technology has moved on. So, with the improvement of technology, we have to enhance the card readers and voters cards.” He said the commission “will certainly do the budget defense process and when it is done it will be by way of an appropriation act. We will make it public. I am sure the National Assembly will make it public.” Daily Trust recalls that while defending the 2018 budget estimates of the electoral body in January, INEC chairman Professor Mahmud Yakubu had said that the exact cost of the 2019 general elections, which would hold across the 119,999 polling units in the country, could only be arrived at after the passage of electoral act by the National Assembly. The N242.45bn proposal was made by the president after the transmission of a new version of the amendment made to the 2010 electoral act by the National Assembly. Rise and rise of elections cost Review of official documents of INEC budgetary allocations showed that the cost of elections has been rising since the country’s return to democracy in 1999. The total budgetary allocations INEC received from the federal government from 1999 to 2018, was N730.99bn, according to official documents reviewed by Daily Trust. Of this sum, N450bn was captured under ‘electoral expenditure,’ while N191.8bn was ‘personnel cost,’ N36.9bn ‘overhead cost,’ and N54.7bn was ‘capital expenditure projects.’ The electoral expenditure started with N1.5bn in 1999 to N29bn in 2002, N45.5bn in 2006, N111bn in 2010, and down to N87.8bn in 2014. Further analysis of the official documents revealed that the electoral umpire’s highest total budgetary expenditure was during the 2015 elections where it spent a total of N236.7bn from 2012 to 2015. The electoral commission spent about N212.6bn from 2008 and 2011; N84.6bn from 2004 to 2007, and N54.2bn from 2000 to 2003, according to the INEC data. Polls shouldn’t be moneymaking venture - CISLAC The Buhari administration should be worried about the cost of conducting elections, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) told Daily Trust. He said given the administration’s position on the effective and responsible management of public resources, it’s expected that there would be a reduction of waste and extravagant spending in conducting elections. “The proposed budget to hold elections has not given hope that under this administration we will not witness abuse of public resources in the name of holding elections which even the previous administrations have not spent this much,” he said. Rafsanjani said, “Unfortunately despite the huge spending on elections in Nigeria, we still witness fraudulent electoral outcome and violence which this huge proposed budget may not guarantee integrity in its outcome.” The CISLAC chief said Nigeria must “stop wasting public funds in every election circle and build a credible system like other countries where conducting an election is not an avenue for money-making.” He advised that this government must at the end give assurance of electoral transparency and absence of manipulation and violence. INEC audit reports should be public - TMG The Chairperson of Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, told Daily Trust that civil society organisations must track the election budget to ensure value for money. “While I am not saying that the budget may be padded or not, I think that it’s important that due diligence is ensured in procurement, checks and balances is done effectively by agencies or organs expected to perform oversight function on INEC,” she said. Akiyode-Afolabi said, “INEC should also disclose previous audit reports to enable more comparison of costs allocated for various items previously and now.” “TMG is yet to assess the full budget breakdown for the 2019 elections to be able to do a nuanced analysis, however in a country that is going through economic downturn one will be quick to say spending such an amount on the election is very high,” Dr Abiola said. She, however, said considering the inflation rate and dollar exchange rate, some of the costs might be justified. For example, if you compare this budget with that of 2015, it’s about 15 percent higher, she said. What Nigeria can do with election budget Comparatively, the proposed 2019 election budget is enough to fund the dualisation, reconstruction and rehabilitation of 62 key economic roads across the six geo-political zones of the country. Also, the election budget is about 44 times higher than what the 36 federal universities will spend on capital projects in 2018. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/2019-elections-set-to-be-nigeria-s-most-expensive-263938.html

A Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the powers of the National Assembly to make laws including the Bill amending election sequence. The appellate court also dismissed the judgement of a Federal High Court in Abuja, which on April 25 stopped the National Assembly from overiding the assent of the president in the Bill. A four-member panel of justices presided by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa on Wednesday held that the decision of the trial court in delving into the matter amounted to a breach of the Doctrine of Separation of Powers. She said that having not signed the Bill into law, it remains within the powers of the National Assembly as provided in Section 4(1) of the 1999 Constitution, which the court has no jurisdiction over. Former Governor of Jigawa State and frontline presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the present state of insecurity in Nigeria. He said that the tension, killings and political unrests in most parts of the country were caused by Buhari’s utterances before the 2015 general elections. Lamido made the assertion in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital when he fielded questions from journalists on the sidelines of his electoral visit to the state on Tuesday. The former governor said that Nigerians have lost their common humanity with the pervasive killings by the “untouchables.” “It is because our leaders have manipulated our differences for selfsih purposes and there is no way to portray this than Buhari saying that he knows those behind this crisis, he said so! If you know them, then they should be arrested. “Before his election on 2015, he said any government which failed to stop the crisis or killings is responsible for it. So, he blamed the PDP for the crisis saying it is deliberate. Three years into this government, by all attestation, he is behind it because he said he knows them,” Lamido said. He wondered how long Nigerians would have to bear the killings. While receiving the aspirant, Governor Darius Ishaku, thanked him for the visit and described him as a honest Nigerian and that PDP was the only hope for Nigerians. http://authorityngr.com/2018/07/31/how-buhari-engineered-insecurity-in-2015-sule-lamido/ |
