The Kaduna State Government has commiserated with the people of Birnin Gwari following fatal attacks on the area by bandits.
Armed persons on Saturday attacked residents of the Kaduna community killing many people, PREMIUM TIMES
reported .
The bandits attacked Gwaska village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area at about 2:30 p.m., residents of the council area said.
No official casualty figure has been provided, but residents told PREMIUM TIMES at least 15 corpses were seen on the road.
The bandits came from neighbouring Dansadau village of Zamfara State, about 10 minutes’ drive to Birnin Gwari, residents said.
Several houses in the village of about 3,000 inhabitants were also set ablaze.
A Former Birnin Gwari Local Government chairman who does not want his name mentioned for security reasons confirmed the incident.
He described the attack as the worst in the troubled the area, which has witnessed several previous attacks.
“These bandits attacked the village in broad daylight and killed many people. They even killed the village Sarkin Fawa (Head of local vigilante) on his way back to the village.
“Nobody can tell you the exact number of people killed because even on the way to the village 15 bodies were scattered on the road,” he said.
To contain the situation, Mr El-Rufai said the military will station a permanent army battalion in Birnin-Gwari.
In a statement issued by Samuel Aruwan, spokesperson to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, the government said it is concerned by the incessant banditry attacks and has been engaging with the federal government on the matter.

“The engagements between the state and federal governments have yielded results. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of a permanent battalion of the Nigerian Army in the Birnin Gwari general area.
“The new security arrangements also involve policing. The Inspector General of Police has already announced the creation of the Birnin Gwari Police Area Command and two new Divisional Police Headquarters.

Politics › APC Holds Parallel Ward Congresses In Kogi by KEVIND(op): 8:52pm On May 05, 2018
Heavy rains have marred the All Progressive Congress (APC) ward congress in Kogi State as delegates could not turn out to vote early enough.
When the Sun News visited some polling units in Lokoja, the state capital, it was gathered that the ‘real election’ took place behind the scene and the Saturday outing was just mere formality.
Visiting polling units such as St Peter Primary School at Oworo Ward D, Bishop Crowther Primary School, Ward A, and Kabawa Primary School, Ward E between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., many people were seen still waiting for election materials.
The Sun News again learnt that the real election had taken place elsewhere.
Speaking with newsmen during the exercise, the House of Assembly member representing Lokoja 11, Idris Ndakwo, said the state governor had instructed them to go on consensus in choosing the candidates, and that any where there were problems elections should be held, stressing that there must not be imposition of candidates.
It was gathered however that there was a parallel congress held in the 21 local government areas in the state between the Audu/Faleke group, led by Haddy Ametuo, the nationally recognised state party chairman, and that of the factional group led by Ibrahim Aboyi, said to be handpicked by State Governor Yahaya Bello.
These two rival groups have split the ruling party in the state, the Sun News learnt.

Politics › The Words Of A Village Kaffir, By Femi Fani-kayode by KEVIND(op): 4:30pm On May 04, 2018
I just finished watching a video in which Farouk Adamu Aliyu, who is a notorious Fulani irredentist and hardliner, a close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari and a former Minority Leader in the Federal House of Representatives, said the following.

“The oil in Bayelsa and the Delta belongs to the people of Jigawa. If they try to take it from us we will fight for it. We will not allow them to stop us from having free and unhindered access to the oil and the money that comes from it. The oil is not theirs: it belongs to us all and if we have to fight for it we will. We fought a civil war over this issue and we kept Nigeria one because of it. If we have to fight another civil war and shed and spill blood again because of this matter we will do so. Of course we are not one and the same people. I am Fulani, some are Ijaw and some are Yoruba. We are not one but God has put us together so why can’t we remain together? We know that we are all different but you must understand that you can only take our oil from us after you have defeated us. Until then and as long as Nigeria remains one the oil belongs to Jigawa”.
These are dangerous and incendiary words which betray the sheer ignorance, utter depravity, moral degeneracy, intellectual bankruptcy, reprobate disposition and diseased mind of the village kaffir from Jigawa that has spoken them.
Those that I described in my last but one essay as the “useful idiots and accursed slaves” from the southern and Middle Belt zones of Nigeria who continue to defend the Fulani terrorists and herdsmen and who constantly attempt to rationalise and justify Fulani hegemony should look for the video and listen to it very carefully.

wirinet:
Though I agree that some sort of resource control is crucial to national development, natural resources alone cannot make a country rich, in fact history and experience has shown that natural resources alone makes a country poorer and unstable. Congo have more natural resources than any other country in the world, but is one of the poorest and most unstable.

The key to national development is human resources.
I agree with you that natural resources can not go in isolation without taking into consideration the human resource aspects. But countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Libya of Gaddafi era,Iran etc, have succeeded in the uptimal use of their resources to develop their country and better the life of their Citizens. If Nigeria can marry both her Human resource and harness the abundance natural resources scattered all over the country through resource control, no one will run out to seek for greener pastures overseas.

I refer you to the word of Mr Ivan Lewis,
A British member of parliament (MP) and Shadow secretary for international Development. he said
"Nigeria too Rich to be Poor".

Breaking: 15 Feared Dead, Houses Razed Down As Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Overrun 3 Adamawa Villages
Three communities in Numan local government area of Adamawa state, have been overran by suspected Fulani militiamen. Fleeing residents told the Nigerian Pilot that Bolki, Bang and Gon have been overran by suspected Fulani militiamen who razed down many buildings in the affected villages.
They alleged that the attackers stormed the area shortly after troops of the Nigerian Army ransacked the villages to enforce the disarmament of citizens in line with a presidential directive.
Chairman of Numan local government area Hon Arnold Jibla confirmed the attack. He however declined to provide fatality figures as according to him, the attack was still raging at the time of this report.
However, locals said that no fewer than 15 persons have been killed in the Wednesday evening raid, just as they said property worth millions of naira have been destroyed.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Othman Abubakar could not confirm outright, saying he was yet to be briefed but promised to get back.
Numan local government has experienced several herdsmen/farmers clashes in the past six months.

Politics › How Buhari Represented Herdsmen At The White House – Afenifere by KEVIND(op): 12:56pm On May 02, 2018
Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement on herdsmen killings during his visit to the White house.
Buhari had told Trump that herdsmen do not carry guns but only wielded sticks and occasionally machetes. He also blamed the death of Gaddafi for herdsmen crisis in Nigeria.
He was quoted saying “The problem of herders in Nigeria is a very long historical thing. The Nigerian herders don’t carry anything more than a stick and occasionally a matchet to cut down foliage and give it to their animals, these ones are carrying AK-47.
“So, people should not underrate what happened in Libya. 43 years of Ghaddaffi, people were recruited from Sahel and trained to shoot and kill. With the demise of Ghaddaffi they moved to other countries and region and carried the experience with them.”
Reacting, Afenifere in a statement by its spokesman, Yinka Odumakin said the President disappointed Nigerians by absolving Fulani herdsmen of involvement in the killings, stressing that he spoke as “the patron of Miyetti Allah, not as the President of Nigeria.”
“Buhari should not have gone to the international stage and say Fulani herdsmen don’t carry AK 47; that destroyed everything for the President.
“This is why Afenifere said he should make a choice between the Presidency and being the patron of Miyetti Allah. He spoke in America in defence of Fulani herdsmen as their patron, not as the President of Nigeria and that is conflict of interest,” Odumakin said.
Odumakin further faulted the US president’s statement on the killings of Christians in Nigeria.
He described Trump’s advice to Buhari as good admonition, noting however that it was not only Christians that were being killed.
Speaking on Buhari’s approval for recruitment of 6,000 policemen, Afenifere dismissed the president’s announcement, stating that it would not make much difference to the security situation in the country.

Crime › JUST IN: Benue Youths Kill 27 Fulani-herdsmen And Burnt Down 2 Mosques by KEVIND(op): 8:38pm On Apr 27, 2018
Benue state youths have taken a reprisal attack on Hausa/Muslims, killing not less than 25 of them and set ablaze two mosques in the state.

The leader of Izala Movement in the state, Sheikh Shuaibu, told the BBC that he counted bodies of 27 Muslims killed by the attackers at the teaching hospital.
He said a lot of Muslims have been killed, just as two mosques were razed down.

Politics › Killings: NEC Recommends Ban On Herdsmen Movement In Five States by KEVIND(op): 10:56pm On Apr 26, 2018
The National Economic Council on Thursday recommended a ban on the movement of herdsmen across the country as a way of stopping the killings being witnessed in parts of Nigeria .
This is expected to start in the five states where the killings are most pronounced - Benue , Taraba , Adamawa , Kaduna and Plateau .

The NEC chaired by the Vice- President has all state governors , the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and relevant ministers as members .
Ebonyi State Governor , Dave Umahi disclosed the outcome of the meeting presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa , Abuja .
Umahi said ranching would be adopted in the five states , while the state governments would provide lands for that purpose .

He said the decision was taken after he submitted the report of a technical committee on farmers and herdsmen conflicts which he chaired to the council .
The governor said the committee identified causes of the conflicts to include media perception, competition for scarce resources and banditry through cattle rustling and kidnapping among others .

He said , “In all , we agreed that movement is not profitable to the herdsmen because they value the milk from the cow even more than the cow itself .
“So , movement is not healthy for the cows as it dries up the meat and give less than two litres of milk per cow per day .

“So , we condemn the issues of foreign invasion by foreign herdsmen and l am happy that the FG is doing something about it.
“We also agreed that these movements have to stop and occasionally by those who have settled and integrated from other parts of the country like the middle belt , they sometimes go into conflicts with farmers.
“So , in all we agreed that there is a more profitable and modern way of raising these cows which is by ranching . So , we have agreed that the states involved are going to give lands . Niger and Kaduna have given lands and Plateau is also giving land .
“Ranching in being practised in Mambila in Taraba Dtate and they have success stories with regards to that .”

He has been silent for a while and have not had much to prophecy about.

Since the US elections, he seems to be on the low key. He has not said anything about the bloodshed.
If he decides to say the reality of what is going to happen to Nigeria, you are the same people that will tag him a prophet of doom. because all you want to hear is you'll "have money, you'll buy land, you'll buy airplane, somebody will credit your account this week, you'll be in America without visa" etc.
Besides, most of the things happening now to Nigeria has already been foretold by him but Nigeria will never listen and make amends. Nigeria can be likened to the ancient Israel where they humiliate and criticize the prophets sent to them by God for telling them the truth.

This is a much better criticism.

Well the Buhari I know could sometimes be carelessly honest.
because your daughter is bad behavioral, you don't go about degrading her and calling her names before her prospective suitors because you're being "carelessly honest". Let's call a spade a spade pls.

don't just watch, please listen to the video and revert back.
why will a President of a country even say such about her youths in an international events. No country in the world that doesn't have its peculiar problem but none will come out to wash their dirty linen in public the way PMB does. If such a problem exist the appropriate thing to do is to seek for assistance from the international community to help improve the educational system like President George Weah of Liberia is doing.Instead of degrading the youths.

IMF boss, Christine Lagarde endorses cryptocurrency

In what seems unexpected, the Managing Director of IMF, Christine Lagarde in a recent blog post highlighting the importance of crypto-assets, claims they can transform how we save and invest.
Lagarde affirms that cryptocurrency could help the financial markets function more efficiently, as it is fast and inexpensive to use.
In the past years, cryptocurrency has not only become one the means of payment but also an alternative method of holding and moving funds.
But digital currency, unlike other currencies, is not under the control of any government, and the highest attempt by any government is a demand that income from cryptocurrency is declared for tax purposes.

Politics › Tanko Yakassai Reveals How 2015 Poll Was Rigged In Northern Nigeria by KEVIND(op): 9:30am On Apr 16, 2018
Elder statesman and prominent politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai has revealed that massive rigging took place in the North in the 2015 general elections.

Yakassai revealed the electoral fraud to journalists when he led the newly formed Northern Leaders’ Stakeholders’ Assembly to former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, at his Uphill Mansion in Minna, the Niger State capital, on Sunday.

According to him, while the electronic voting was religiously observed in the southern part of the country, it was not so observed in the north.

He remarked: “When the electronic voting was introduced, I was in support of it, but I observed what happened in the 2015 general election and I changed my mind.

“This is because it was religiously observed in the southern part of the country, but it was not so religiously observed in the northern parts of the country. It was from that moment that I began to have some reservations about the electronic voting pattern.

“There are many ways of rigging election. What happened in 2015 where the majority of southerners resident in the north were scared away from their places of residence, where they had registered, to their place of origin and therefore could not have the opportunity to vote, was rigging.

“Again some of the southerners who did not run away were afraid to come out and vote on the day of election. So scaring people from coming out to vote for the candidates of their choice is also a form of rigging.”

Yakassai said they were at Babangida’s house to inform the former leader of the objectives of the organisation dedicated to the unity and progress of the north.

Babangida in his remark, praised the efforts of the group and assured them of his support as long as they worked for the unity of Nigeria.

Also at the meeting were Senator Joseph Waku, Alhaji Ghali Na Abba, Dr. Mohammed Data, Alhaji Abba Hana, Hajiya Inna Corona, Hajiya Zainab Main, Gimbia Rani, Alhaji Bala Mohammed and Dr. Umaru Babangida Aliyu, among others.

Business › Re: Is Entrepreneurship Over-rated? by KEVIND:
JARUSHUB:
By Uchechi Moses

During the past years, there has been a rise in the entrepreneurial fever – where everyone desires to become one. There is nothing wrong with entrepreneurship as it spurs investment, create jobs and wealth. The top firms in Nigeria and globally were founded by entrepreneurs. However, when one hears/reads statements such as “create a job”, “don’t be a slave”, “a salary received extends your prison term”, “you cannot be rich as an employee”, “you are wasting time enriching another individual”, “your salary is a bribe given to you to forget about your dreams”, “people who receive salaries are slaves” and the one I consider the most ridiculous – “I don’t want to work for someone”. There are many of such thoughts - which are flawed – parading our cyber space about entrepreneurship.

Firstly, entrepreneurship goes beyond “buying and selling or opening of a shop”. It requires developing new ideas, problem solving, tenacity, innovative spirit etc. At most we have more business wo(men) than entrepreneurs in Nigeria. Delving into entrepreneurship requires managerial knowledge, raising of capital, and most importantly, possessing the idea. Yes, you might have the idea, but managing an enterprise goes beyond just having it in your head or on paper.

Secondly, the statement that you cannot be rich as an employee is false. This is because being “rich” is subjective. To Dangote, Mark Zuckerberg is richer than him, to Zuck, Bezos is richer. Our flawed entrepreneurs forget that not everyone desires to be rich. Yes! As odd as it sounds, there are persons who are satisfied with receiving a salary at a stipulated time and don’t want to be rich. They need the environment to realise their dreams (yes, they have dreams too), and become successful. On its own, being successful is relative. For some, it simply means a having a regular 9 – 5 job that offers the comfort of a home, car(s), money to sponsor their kids to good schools and a retirement fund. Living their life ‘one step at a time”. They should not be criticised for this choice – which is their prerogative. Also, not everyone can be rich as it’d be Zimbabwean – economically. It is unnatural. One can live a comfortable life as a salaried employee, yes, you not might be rich as billionaires on Forbes. However, not everyone can. The CEO Accenture Nigeria, Niyi Yusuf, is a salaried employee, but lives a comfortable life by all ramifications. Same can be said about the Kemi Onabanjo of McKinsey & Co. Or are these individuals unsuccessful? There are many, salaried and successful. Their dreams are being realised at where they work.

Furthermore, there is a striking thing about these flawed entrepreneurs’ thoughts. This is because with the way they sing, talk, write and blog about their fellow citizens running towards corporate jobs. One would believe there is a country where entrepreneurs are more than employees. There is no country where entrepreneurs outnumber employees. Think about it. Is there any country where we have more “job creators” than “job seekers”? No. In developed societies, people discuss more about gaining employment than becoming entrepreneurs. You see data of employment figures being released monthly, quarterly, biannual or annually. Countries nay politicians are proud when the unemployment rate drops. Also, renowned MBA programs have the rates of being employed after graduation as one of their selling points. Yes, MBA students are taught modules of entrepreneurship by top class professors and invited to symposiums on entrepreneurship. Yet, the vast majority of MBA grads get back into paid employment than entrepreneurship. Which reiterates my point about no place, globally, are there more entrepreneurs than employees. Yes, entrepreneurship creates jobs, but not the way it is talked about in Nigeria. As if people won’t eventually manage the enterprise.

Fresh graduates in Nigeria are being told to “create jobs’ immediately they leave school. Is there anything wrong with this statement? No, emphatically. However, when that becomes the only line being drummed into their ears, it becomes a problem. Inasmuch as there are folks who desire being entrepreneurs, there is a sub-set that will delve into it (entrepreneurship) after working with a firm/individual for a period of time. Not graduating today, and becoming an entrepreneur tomorrow. Just like that? And you expect everyone to jump into it? This is because everyone is the same, right? Check out the statistics of top entrepreneurs in Nigeria, we have more successful entrepreneurs who worked for a while in different firms and positions before creating their enterprise. And you know one fascinating thing about these entrepreneurs? They did and do not denigrate paid employment. Neither did they vow never to work for someone. Why denigrate something you will have in your firm? Or are you aspiring to employ slaves? It shows the difference between flawed and authentic entrepreneurial thoughts.

On the other hand, this writer has managed his family hospitality business, and I witnessed how it is to run one in Nigeria. The attempts by employees to pilfer to clients not understanding why prices are increased to fuel prices being increased arbitrarily to generator maintenance. Sometimes you begin to wonder, why not just work, and earn money steadily? Why stress yourself? With the experience gained, I find it difficult to start an enterprise in Nigeria. No doubt, the benefits are there – a huge market. However, it gives me sleepless nights. A factor our flawed entrepreneurs don’t understand is the country they are in. Nigeria is one of the difficult places to run a business globally. From employees versed in pilfering to highly punitive taxes to poor infrastructure (especially the Internet), and most obvious - non availability of electricity (2 – 5 hours daily supply of electricity is not electricity to me).

Entrepreneurship goes beyond “not being a slave”. Folks recommend entrepreneurship as the quick pill to our high unemployment rate. However, I posit that availability of 24/7 electricity will reduce unemployment to its barest minimum. Then again, even in countries with constant electricity, there is still unemployment – which is not unique to Nigeria.

Finally, peoples’ decisions should not be distorted by mere trite songs about entrepreneurship. Question is: If everyone decides to own a business, who will work in these firms? Slaves? If you desire to be an entrepreneur, fine and good. It is commendable. Whether you desire to be self-employed or being in paid employment is totally your prerogative. Do not denigrate others’ duties because they don’t fall in line with yours. People should be given the support to pursue their dreams as long as they don’t commit a crime. We are different and this makes us unique.

The best write up I've read in recent times. Honestly, Entrepreneurship is a term misapplied in Nigeria by those in positions of authority and the government to shift the blame of their inability to provide jobs for her citizens especially for young graduates and create the enabling environment for business to strive.
They make it seems as if the principle of social contract is not binding on them.

Politics › Arewa Pastor Claims He Was Tricked To Join Team That Visited Buhari by KEVIND(op): 12:07pm On Apr 11, 2018
One of the clergymen who was part of a team of Arewa pastors who recently endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari to run for a second term in office has shed light into how the team may have been put together.

The team under the aegis of Arewa Pastors Non-Denominational Initiative for Peace in Nigeria (APPIN) had recently paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari and called on him to vie for office a second time.

Many Nigerians however, especially within the Christendom has been irked by their action and call.
The umbrella body of Christians in the country had issued a statement that the APPIN was alien to it, and that the group does not speak for, or represent Christians in the country.

Throwing more insight into how the APPIN team may have come to be, one of those who attended the meeting which was led by Benue State-born Bishop John Richard Abu, said he was “conscripted through deception.”

The Pastor of Church of Eternal Life (Abuja branch) and former President (Youth Wing), Christian Association of Nigeria, Bishop Henry Sado, told journalists in Abuja on Tuesday that he was allegedly deceived by Abu using the name of popular pastors in Nigeria.

Sadoh spoke out after his name went viral on social media when he was identified in the photograph of APPIN members who embarked on what has now become political pilgrimage to the Presidency.
Sado said, “Bishop JRA (John Richard Abu) called me on Wednesday April 5 2018 to be part of his team to the Villa on Thursday April 6. He told me about his closeness to a former President of CAN. He also said he had spoken with the Chairman of Pentecostal Bishops in the 19 Northern States and FCT who is also the Founder of Dominion Chapel International Churches, Archbishop Daniels John Praise; hence I should please follow him.

“I asked him the purpose of the visit to the Villa and he said like other Christian groups that have been visiting the villa, he wants to go and present burning issues to President Buhari, including the case of Leah Sharibu, the female student of Government Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State who is still being held captive by Boko Haram insurgents and a prayer conference. I am not privy to the speech he presented.

“I met him for the first time on Thursday April 5 2019, in fact I had to call him to identify him in the midst of others. On getting to the Villa, the Chaplain of Aso Villa (Seyi Malomo) was surprised to see him and he asked of Archbishop Daniels John Praise and Rev. Yakubu Pam (chairman of CAN in 19 Northern States and FCT), two very prominent Northern Christian leaders and he said they are not in his team. There and then, I suspected there are issues, I had been conscripted through deception.

“I was asked to stand in for FCT since the Arewa Pastors are supposed to come from the 19 Northern States and FCT. I have lived in Abuja for the past 17 years, by God’s grace. Some Christian leaders have been to our church before. I was former National Chairman of YOWICAN (Youth Wing of CAN). I have never turned my back against the Christian community before, my records with the fathers and God speaks for me”, the cleric stated.

Politics › Python Dance: What Army Told Me About Killing Of Igbos – Ohanaeze Leader, Nwodo by KEVIND(op): 11:23am On Apr 11, 2018
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has called on the military to find the soldiers who allegedly killed Igbos during the Operation Python Dance.
President-General of Ohanaeze, John Nnia- Nwodo, stated this Tuesday at the night of tributes for the former secretary general of the group and Biafran war veteran, the late Col. Joseph Achuzia, at the Enugu Sports Club.
“I had the opportunity to confront the leadership of the Army, who gave me an assurance that there is going to be a court martial of all soldiers involved in that behaviour that was contrary to their rules of engagement.
“I have been following this matter with correspondence and I will continue to follow it until we know those who massacred our children without cause,” he assured.
On Achuzia, Nwodo said: “From the Igbo-speaking part of Delta State, Asaba, Achuzia threw himself into the Biafran war with unsurpassed bravery, exemplary military discipline and the tact of historical generals of great wars.
“His single-minded approach to the Baifran War made him the dread of any soldier who exhibited any sign of cowardice or equivocation as far as the war was concerned.
“The severity of his enforcement of military discipline earned him the nickname ‘AirRaid’ while his bravery was likened to that of ‘Hannibal the Great’, hence, his other nickname, ‘Hannibal’.
“His bravery was such that he was always posted to any front which defied solution or where the battle was toughest, such that he was believed, then, to be invincible and a cat with nine lives.
“I am happy to be one of the people sent to Asagba of Asaba at the end of the war to say to our kit and kin in Delta that we are extremely sorry we have not shown enough sympathy for the carnage in that part of Igbo land
“And for the fact that we, the brothers, haven’t come to pay our respect for the dead since the war ended. All of us knelt down at the house of the Asagba of Asaba; I saw Ojukwu on his knees.
“I led the national executive of Ohanaeze to Asaba last year when they remembered 700 of our people who were murdered by federal troops. Contrary to the rules of engagement, the same kind of thing that happened to us not too long ago when we had the operation python dance”.
