he Igbo apex socio-politicalgroup, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, hascondemned the Federal Government’s call for the re-arrest and bail revocation of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief NniaNwodo, who gave the statement on behalf of the group also accused the Federal Government of bias, double standard and violation of Kanu’s fundamental human rights especially for refusing to arrest the Arewa Youths whom he said issued threatening and hate speech to Ndigbo.Chief Nwodo also urged the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN to “please respect your oath of office,” wondering why the AGF would move to re-arrest Kanu while refusingto do anything to stop the Arewa youths whom he said only ‘pretended’ to withdraw the quit notice they issued to Igbo in the North.Kanu was granted bail on April 25, 2017, after spendingseveral months in detention.Chief Nwodo spoke in a release titled,‘Attorney General of the Federation, please respect your oath of office!’Parts of the statement read, “It has just been brought to my notice that the Attorney General of the Federation hasapproached the courts to incarcerate Nnamdi Kalu for flouting his bail conditions.“I am amazed that the distinguished attorney is prepared to contest the superiority of the provisions of the constitution on fundamental human rights of freedom of movement and freedom of association over an erroneous judicial proclamation violating those rights.“I am equally miffed by the audacity with which the Attorney General displays hisbias without regard to his oath of office.“A few hours ago under the watchful eyes of the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and in totaldefiance of the Head of State’s proclamation of the rights of a citizen of Nigeria to live anywhere in Nigeria and to do business anywherein Nigeria, the Arewa youths, pretending to withdraw their quit notice gave qualifications to the Head of State’s proclamation, issuingconditions for enjoyment of citizenship status.“These same Arewa youths are supposed to have been arrested on the orders of the Governor of Kaduna State and the Inspector General of Police for acts of treason, conversion and sedition.“As the Chief Law Officer of the Federation, the Attorney General looks the other way. He does not go to court to seek an order of arrest or prosecution.”“Nnamdi, as a citizen of Nigeria, is free to hold any point of view no matter how displeasing to anyone so long as they are not inciting or provoking any criminal activities.“I and some Igbo leaders have differences of opinion with Nnamdi on a number of issues. We have been insulted and abused by RadioBiafra but we concede them their right to differ from us. We concede them their nature to be exuberant as youths but we cannot be judgmental about their rights.“This is a democracy. In democracies, leaders are abused, pelted with rotten eggs and booed at, as the former Edo State governor was booed in Abuja a few days ago. These acts are not necessarily criminal.“I urge the Attorney-General not to exacerbate our alreadytense nation by commencing a legal action which portrays him as biased, insensitive and misdirected,” the Ohanaeze leader said.

The United Nations has called for the arrest and prosecution of a coalition of northern youth groups for issuing a quit notice to Igbo living in the northern part of Nigeria.

In a statement issued yesterday in Geneva, three UN experts urged the Federal Government to arrest those behind a song that sought to disparage the Igbo.
The experts include Mr. Mutuma Ruteere, Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance; Mr. Fernand de Varennes, Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues; and Ms. Anastasia Crickley, Chairperson of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The statement reads: ‘’We are gravely concerned about this proliferation of hate messages and incitement to violence against the Igbo and their property, especially considering the previous history of such violence.
“The government must be vigilant, as hate speech and incitement can endanger social cohesion and threaten peace by deepening the existing tensions between Nigeria’s ethnic communities. We are deeply concerned that some prominent local leaders and elders have not condemned the ultimatum, hate speech, and the perpetrators.
“We call on the government, media and civil society representatives, local and religious leaders, to reject and condemn hate speech and incitement to violence unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms. Incidents of hate speech and incitement to violence have to be investigated and the perpetrators prosecuted and punished. This includes the people behind the ultimatum and those responsible for the creation, publication, and circulation of the hate song and audio message.”
This came as a former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar commended the Northern groups for withdrawing the quit notice, adding that the group must drop its other demands for true reconciliation.
Atiku in a statement yesterday, called on other ethnic groups that might have issued counter quit notices to rescind their decisions.

Recently, a video that was also attached with pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari and his presidential aids in London has been making wave online. The news which reported that Buhari recieved his presidential aids in London, stating that his doctors do not want him to come back in Nigeria for medical purposes.
A picture has also emerged as a counter to the visitation as a concocted fallacy by the federal government of Nigeria to decieving the citizens of the country and also the general public. The picture caption indicts that the said visitation was made since December 2016.

The Northern States Governor’s Forum has set up a high-powered committee to look into the implications of restructuring on the region and the country in general.
This was the position of the northern states’ governors in a statement issued at the end of their meeting in Kaduna, on Friday, which was read by the Katsina State governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari.
The governor said the committee was mandated to collect and collate the views of the various agitations for restructuring from individuals, groups and corporate organisations.
The committee is to come up with an acceptable, tenable and sustainable position for the Northern Region, in consonance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended and as well as take into cognisance the current constitutional amendment processes going on in the National Assembly.
According to Masari, the committee would be headed by the Sokoto State governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.
Other members of the committee are the governors of Nassarawa, Benue, Gombe and Kaduna states, the emirs of Kano, Gummi, Zazzau, Etsu Nupe and Gbong Gom Jos, while the deputy governor of Plateau State would serve as the secretary.
The Forum also reaffirmed its commitment to national unity, peaceful co-existence and the rights of all Nigerians to reside and own property in any part of the country, as guaranteed by the constitution.
“We reassure all Nigerians who live in the North of our readiness to protect their lives and property. We therefore call on our colleagues in the South to emulate this gesture,” Masari said.
Meanwhile, the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, carpeted the northern governors for setting up the committee, describing the action as deceitful.
This was contained in its reaction sent to Saturday Tribune, on Friday, by its spokesman, Mr Yinka Odumakin.
“The northern governors’ decision on restructuring, coming hours after their parliamentarians shut down devolution of powers in the National Assembly, is a mere taunt. Like their fronts in APC chose anti-restructuring Nasir el-Rufai to define the term, they have chosen Tambuwal to head their own panel.
“It is laughable that the descendants of those who demanded for confederacy to return to after they walked out from the federal parliament in protest against the Action Group (AG) motion for independence and at the 1967 Ad-hoc constitutional conference called by General Yakubu Gowon can now be pretending not to know what federalism means.
“They are free to play the ostrich while the Republic gradually disappears because of the temporary advantage they hold over Nigeria. The bell surely tolls as it is pretty clear that Nigeria can no longer run successfully on the current terms,” he said.

More than half the foreign-trained doctors and dentists failed examinations to secure practice licence of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria this year.
A total 334 doctors and seven dentists who graduated from medical colleges outside Nigeria sat for the assessment this year.
Only 160 doctors and four dentists passed--a 40% success rate.
At their induction at MDCN headquarters, health minister Isaac Adewole called the pass rate "worrisome."

Alhaji Ahmed Gusau has said the subversive activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, will be met with an appropriate response soon.
He stated this in his article to our newsroom titled 'Kanu & co-travelers to meet their Waterloo soon'
He metaphorically compared Kanu and his co-travelers as drowning men who are only clutching the reed on the river bank to save their lives which he said will no longer work having exceeded all known tolerant limits.
Further in the article, he 'advised' Kanu to quickly declare the Republic of Biafra since he has so many supporters in the five Igbo-speaking states of the south-east.
This, he said, will facilitate the Republic of Biafra.
He said: 'I wonder what has been holding him back to declare his Biafra Republic since he enjoys and have the backing of the Igbos in the region he comes from. If Ojukwu did who was then not his age, what is restraining him to openly declare the secession he has been agitating for. ''We here in the far north love peace and peaceful co-existence with other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. It was only recently that a few misguided and socially undesirable elements amongst us hiding under Islam which preaches peace to unleash terror on Muslims and non-Muslims alike calling attention to Boko Haram's activities to actualize a sovereign Islamic State within Nigeria. So far this has been met with a violent response from the Nigerian military.
The war has been difficult to fight because it is an insurgency. The Boko Haram insurgents are not a regular army. They infiltrate the civil populace and the Nigerian military can not be killing its own people while prosecuting the ongoing war with the insurgents. Be that as it may, we used to sleep not only with one eye open but with two eyes open which is now a thing of the past since the Boko Haram has been effectively degraded by the superior firepower of the Nigerian military. This is what the US which is reckoned to be the most powerful country in the world is finding difficult to do in countries like Afghanistan and Somalia. The Nigerian military has been able to effectively combat the insurgency in the northeast.
I had to digress in this piece because I often read on the pages of Facebook what Kanu's Facebook soldiers always say that the Nigerian military does not have the capability to confront Nnamdi Kanu's soldiers in the event of a full-blown war with Nigeria.
Since they are of that view, that is the surest way to quickly realise Biafra. I will advise Nnamdi Kanu to capitalise on the purported weakness of the Nigerian military and declare the Republic of Biafra and use the soldiers he is training in the 'USA and Israel' to overrun Nigeria.

Kanu should as a matter of urgency declare the Republic of Biafra in any of the Igbo-speaking enclaves of his choice to speedily actualize his Biafra to allow peace reign in Nigeria when he succeeds.
Of course, he says, he is a demigod and the Supreme Lord of the Igbos for he has been so variously addressed by his followers so much so that he now runs a parallel government in Nigeria.
Kanu for sure is doomed and can never extricate himself from his culpable acts whether he renounces Biafra now or not. We will continue to keep a track record of his activities, his backers, his sponsors in this perilous journey together with his provocative statements until the Rubicon is crossed.
There is no one single Nigerian leader he has not insulted and under normal condition, can he insult any of his mates or even a child and expect the child to swallow the insult? Certainly not. We want to hear more from him before he is finally crushed once and for all. It is better for him to remain in the south-east where he is presently an overlord because leaving that region for any other part of Nigeria will be too risky for him because of the insults he has heaped on every region. I wonder where his strength lies. We shall soon see when it comes to the crunch. We will act soon, we will respond soon violently and overwhelmingly for the freedom he seemingly enjoys now is nothing but a bait and Greek gift.
We will do this when all is set for the final battle to destroy all forces of evil which he and co-travelers represent. Our radar is on his sponsors who we know one by one and we want to identify more of them.
The night of wonder to free Nigeria from the deadly grip of these demons has set sail and it will be executed soon when it berths like a ship. Certainly, Kanu cannot escape the devouring wrath and division which his hate speech has caused Nigeria. Soon it will be met with a violent and overwhelming response.

But investigations by weekend Vanguard in Kaduna has revealed that beyond the public condemnation by political leaders of the quit notice issued by the Arewa youths to Igbos in the north, the move appears to enjoy the support, and active sponsorship by conservative northern oligarchs.
According to our investigations, although the initial plan for the Kaduna Declaration was the handiwork of the groups, who were signatories to the declaration and have always been available for any group to be used to advance their political agenda during the sixteen years of the Peoples democratic rule, the idea assumed a life of its own when one of the signatories to the declaration contacted a former northern academic to intimate him of the plan.
“From the point the former academic was contacted, the issue assumed a different dimension, necessitating the shifting of the press conference from Monday to Tuesday. It became obvious that we were on the right path and we seized on the opportunity to make a point that at that point, we knew we had the backing of the majority of the people of our region and especially the leadership at the grass root” one signatory to the Declaration who did not want to have his name in print told Vanguard.
But while other northern leaders prefer to operate from the shadows while giving moral and financial support to members of the northern youth coalition in their declaration, Professor Ango Abdullahi, the former Vice Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the modern face of northern irredentism did not only openly declare his support for the youths but also publicly condemned the Kaduna state governor for ordering the arrest of the youths. Speaking to newsmen in Zaria, Professor Ango Abdullahi who is a member of the Northern Elders Forum maintained that it was hypocritical for the Igbos to continue to live in other parts of the country while agitating for Nigeria’s break up.
Insisting that what the northern youth groups did was not a sin, Abdullahi said whoever feels Nigeria “is not conducive for him” should quit.
“I am disappointed in the decision taken by Northern Governors’ Forum disowning and condemning the agitation by this young agile and progressive youth groups.
“Let me ask these Northern governors, whom are they representing, are they representing spirits, ghost or people of the north?
“Recently, people from eastern part of this country, specifically Igbo, were busy calling for the Sovereign State of Biafra and from all indication their leaders including governors are behind them. Nobody has come out to condemn them. What are our people saying?” he queried.
But while the views expressed by Ango Abdullahi may represent the extreme position, very many Northern leaders feel that the emergence of the youth group was a good counter poise to what they feel is the relentless denigration of the whole northern region by the agitators for the so called state of Baifra.
According to a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University who spoke with Vanguard, ‘majority of the northern elites feel that we should also have our own ‘noise makers so that when the chips are down, we will have a point to trade. It is not as if people want Igbos to leave the north as declared by the youth groups. Our support for them stems from the fact that we cannot afford to continue to portray a spirit of docility.
Majority of northern elites support these guys because they are expendable and they are saying the right thing that our people want to hear. We know that when the chips are down, the Igbos have greater things at stake. We want them to know that we also know what to do when push comes to shove.
The north did not set out to recruit those guys but they filled a vacuum at the most appropriate time. When El Rufai said he was aware that some people were reluctant to carry out the arrest directive given by his state government, he knew exactly what he was talking about and I can tell you that none of those guys can be arrested in the north. We are behind them”
For now, while Nnamdi Kanu and his misguided supporters in the east push for Biafra, they have found an equally misguided ally in the north. With the support that both groups enjoy from some people in the zone, other Nigerians will wait to see whether the will of a few misguided youths and their sponsors will prevail or the majority of Nigerians who are more interested in the vicissitude of daily living will be giving an opportunity to live their lives in peace.

.Mallam El Rufai’s proactive condemnation of the statement by the amorphous Northern youths group in their so called Kaduna Declaration opened a floodgate of condemnation from other stakeholders in the northern part of the country because of the manifest implication such a brazen ultimatum to Igbos in the north could pose not just in the northern part of the country but also the country at large.
The governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima who is also the chairman of the nineteen northern governors’ forum followed suit in condemning the declaration of the northern youth’s coalition. In a statement he issued a day after Governor El Rufai had directed security agencies to arrest leaders of the group, the Borno state governor in a statement distanced the governors of the nineteen northern states from the statement of the Youth coalition.
In a statement he issued, the governor noted that the views of the so called northern youths neither represented the views of the political leadership in the north nor the generality of the people of the region.
“On behalf of the Governors of the 19 Northern states, we totally condemn such irresponsible pronouncements by those groups. We condemn, we disown, and we are totally distancing ourselves from those faceless groups who don’t have the mandate of the people of Northern Nigeria to make such loud pronouncements. Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is very explicit in safeguarding the rights of all Nigerians to reside in any part of the country with no hindrance whatsoever. But then, when you see a toad dancing in broad daylight, the drummer is not far off from the main road. We wish to call on the security agencies to beam their lenses on these groups, and unearth the faces behind the mask.
“Some months back, there were cases of importation of arms, illegal importation of arms intercepted at the ports, and then we started hearing rumours of a coup d’etat. Now, a groups that do not have the mandate of the people came up with remarks capable of destabilizing the north and the country as a whole. ‘We are one nation tied to a common destiny, the governance of Northern Nigeria is not in alignment with those pronouncements, and we will take whatever measures that are necessary to safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerians living in any part of the North. I am in contact with most of my colleagues, and they are all talking to heads of security establishments in their respective domains because we cannot afford to take chances. We cannot afford to toil with the destiny of this country.
“The 19 Northern Governors wish to call on our brothers of Igbo descent to remain calm and go about their legitimate businesses. Nobody can dare to intimidate, harass or dehumanize them in any of the 19 northern states. Our governors will not allow that.”
Several other voices of condemnation from across the country have followed the high profile ones as represented by governor Nasir El Rufai and his Borno state counterpart, Kashim Shettima.

When a coalition of northern youths group infamously issued three months quit notice to Igbo leaving in the nineteen northern states of the country to quit the region and go back to the eastern part of the country, the initial reaction of the government and people of Kaduna state was that of outrage. Governor Nasir El Rufai who blazed the trail in the gale of condemnation through his senior special Assistant on media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan was unmistakeable in his upbraid.
Addressing a press conference at the Nigerian Union of Journalists office in Kaduna, Aruwan, who was clear in his condemnation, said the Kaduna state government which had passed a law outlawing hate speech in the state would not sit by and allow some people to use the serenity of the state to cause havoc in the country.
According to Aruwan, the state government did not only condemn the quit notice issued by the groups but has also directed relevant security agencies in the state to hunt down the signatories to the obnoxious statement and bring them to account according to the relevant sections of the law.
He said: “The Kaduna State Government condemns in the strongest terms the press statement by some self-appointed “northern youths” that threatened the safety and property of our citizens of Igbo extraction. Government assures every resident of our state that their constitutional and human rights to live peacefully and own property wherever they choose is sacrosanct.
Even people who may feel unhappy about irresponsible comments or actions that have taken place in other states must know that two wrongs cannot make a right.
“The Kaduna State Government believes in and will uphold the right of every Nigerian to live safely and develop his/her full potentials within its territory.
“Reckless disregard for the rights of other citizens drips through the press statement by these “northern youths” who have chosen to use the discourse around restructuring to promote their own agenda of hate, division and incitement. This sort of opportunists cannot be allowed to distort debate, or turn it into a pretext for a barely-disguised agenda of displacement and dispossession of some citizens.
“We will not tolerate such irresponsible statements and conduct in our state. The statement issued by the “northern youths” violates the laws of Kaduna State. Therefore, the Kaduna State Government has directed that its Ministry of Justice should prepare charges and prosecute the signatories and anyone complicit in arranging this egregious assault on the rights of fellow citizens.
“Preparatory to prosecution, the police have been directed to immediately arrest, interrogate the signatories to the statement and investigate all the circumstances and persons that may be implicated in the matter” he said.
