On CNN’s Amanpour Live Report it was reported that Amaechi has been stacking money in different foreign accounts. According to the statement, Amanpour’s show said “the sum of over 757 million U.S. dollars was stacked by Amaechi in a foreign U.S. Bancorp/Minnesota account.” The Integrity Group, a non-governmental organization, has sent a petition to Buhari as well as the Economic Financial Crimes Commission chairman to investigate Amaechi for the over N70 billion stolen from the Rivers State government. This amount is separate from the N21 billion which the PDP claims Amaechi transferred from the Power Assets proceeds account of Access bank to the accounts of three private companies with a 25 Trans-Amadi Road, Port Harcourt address. Well, is he the one that Buhari’s camp is telling us that we will be shocked when the first looter is arrested? Source:Sahara Reporters

Former heads of state, Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Muhammadu Buhari Speaking through his spokesman, Mr. Kassim Afegbua, the former Military President was responding to Buhari’s comments blaming President Goodluck Jonathan, IBB, Obasanjo for killing the nation’s oil industry. On IBB specifically, Buhari, who was hosting leaders and members of the CPC, led by the House of Representatives member from Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency of Katsina State, Dr. Mansur Abdulkadir, on Monday, said the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida was responsible for the high level of corruption and destruction in the petroleum industry. He added that the corrupt practices in the oil sector during the eras of Babangida, Obasanjo and Jonathan had led to the enslaving of the masses. Countering, IBB had reportedly said: “We are conversant with General Buahri’s so-called holier-than-thou attitude. He was a one-time Minister of Petroleum and we have good records of his tenure as minister. Secondly, he presided over the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, which records we also have. We challenge him to come out with clean hands in those two portfolios. Those, who live in glass houses, do not throw stones. General Buhari should be properly guided.” However, Buhari insisted on his comments and dared IBB to carry out the threat of exposing him. Decadent state of petroleum industry Speaking through Engr. Rotimi Fashakin, the CPC spokesman, Buhari insisted he spoke the truth. He said: “The truth of the matter is that General Buhari has just stated the obvious and it is what everybody knows about the decadent state of the Nigerian Petroleum Industry. Nigerians know which regime contributed immensely to that sector. So we still insist that what General Buhari stated is the truth and if General Babangida says he has facts about General Buhari over the issue, let him bring them out. “At least Prof Tam David West worked closely with both General Buhari and General Babangida, so Tam David West should be able to tell Nigerians who among both men actually contributed to the decadence state of the oil industry.” Corruption blossom under Obasanjo—Falae Reacting to the exchanges, yesterday, one-time Minister of Finance and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, told Vanguard on phone that corruption reached an alarming height during Obasanjo’s administration in 1999. His words: “The people are former heads of state and to the extent that corruption had been going on for quite sometime in the country, maybe that is why he (Buhari) is holding them accountable. But I don’t know the statistics or information to either agree or disagree with him (Buhari). “But there is corruption in the whole country; the country is awash with corruption and nobody can really know where it started from though some government functionaries can. Corruption is the biggest problem we have. “I cannot attribute it to any particular person but this thing started in earnest since 1999 that was during the Obasanjo administration; that was when the thing really blossomed. In the past, one suspected that a few military leaders were the ones, who had access to the money, but since we returned to civilian rule, thousands of people now got into the act: from the local to state and federal government levels. And it has been growing since then. Corruption has grown very fast since 1999.” At a time other leaders were exonerating themselves from the decay that had been inflicted on the citizenry, Obasanjo said yesterday that his regret after eight years in power as a civilian president was that he was unable to fix the epileptic power situation of the country. President Jonathan had on Monday dissociated his administration from the rot, saying there was no how his regime, under two years, could have destroyed all amenities and infrastructure, if his predecessors provided them after many years in power. Obasanjo, who was speaking at the Nigeria Leadership Initiative, NLI, as Guest Speaker Forum in Lagos, said, however, that his inability to fix the power problem was as a result of lack of funds in the initial period of his administration, owing to the low price of crude oil in the international market, Nigeria’s depleted foreign reserves and huge debt burden. He also blamed oil companies operating in the country for their non-chalant contribution towards addressing the nation’s power problem. Some oil companies abandoned Nigeria—Obasanjo According to Obasanjo, oil companies in Nigeria refused to contribute towards addressing the power problem, except for only one of them, Agip. He said: “During my time as a military president, my major aim was forging a united country and a self-reliant economy. I later realised that we can only achieve that with a constitution. When I came back to power 20 years after, I also pursued the agenda of uniting Nigeria and building a self-reliant economy. I can say we achieved all that. ”However, my regret is that we did not address the power issue in the country before we left. This is mainly because of the absence of funds at that time. If the country had money at the early stage of my presidency, we would have fixed the power. “The country’s earning was low when we came to power; crude oil was selling at about $18 – $20 per barrel. When our earning started improving, we then started the Independent Power Projects, IPP. “The oil companies abandoned Nigeria in our drive towards addressing the power problem. They did not do what they were supposed to do in that regard. Only one oil company, Agip, supported the country”. Asked to rate Nigeria’s current leadership, Obasanjo said, “I will not want to comment publicly on Nigeria’s leadership at the moment.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/08/corruption-buhari-dares-ibb/

PRESIDENT of Church of Christ in Nigeria, COCIN, Rev. Dachollom Datiri has warned that the Nigerian Church will be at risk the moment the Islamic fundamentalist group, Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (Western education is forbidden), better known as Boko Haram establishes a caliphate in the Middle Belt state of Plateau. The COCIN president, in an interview with Martyrs CRY, a newsletter of the Voice of the Christian Martyrs stressed the need for Nigerian Christians to unite and intensify prayers as well as give generously to reinforce the Christians in the Middle Belt, arguing that Christianity in that region may soon collapse under Islamic pressure on the Middle Belt. Rev. Datiri maintained that the impact of Islamic fundamentalists on the church in the region is unquantifiable, stressing that the destruction is unbelievable. “In Bauchi State, the Tafawa Balewa Area has been under constant attacks. Even after the elections, the congregations there were attacked. It is only the grace of God that is sustaining the brethren there. Coming to Plateau State, communities outside Jos are being attacked almost on a daily basis. “I cannot tell you how many Regional Church Councils have been decimated in these attacks. All these are communities not far from Jos. The Muslims kill Christians and destroy their properties. The media report is usually that these communities have been attacked by unknown gunmen or by Fulani herdsmen. The underlying motive is to destroy the Church. File photo: St. Theresa Catholic Church Christmas Day bombing at Suleja. “Even in Nasarawa State, we have lost no less than five congregations. When you ask who is responsible for the destruction, security officers will claim they are unknown gunmen or Fulani herdsmen. Yet, in most instances, they come dressed in military uniform. Where did the Muslim insurgents obtain the military uniform that they wear when going to destroy churches?” the cleric asked. Asked about the implications of the attacks, Rev. Datiri said his church is the predominant denomination in Plateau as well as in some parts of Bauchi state, maintaining that COCIN forms probably 70% to 80% of Christians on the Plateau. “If they succeed in destroying COCIN, they would have succeeded in eradicating a sizeable portion of the Church on the Plateau. Since their goal is to wipe out Christianity in Plateau State, in their bid to overrun Nigeria with Islam, eliminating COCIN on the Plateau is tantamount to overrunning Nigeria with Islam. “Plateau State”, he further argued “is a big hurdle for the Islamists in their quest and overcoming COCIN on the Plateau is a sure sign that they have conquered Christianity in Nigeria. “So, they concentrate their forces on eradicating Christianity on the Plateau. It is only by the grace of God that we are surviving. We keep asking God for strength, wisdom, and courage. But, I must tell you, it is heartbreaking. At times I receive phone calls in the middle of the night from members asking for help and in the background, I hear the sound of gunshots. It is tragic,” he narrated. According to the church leader, the most veritable remedy to the attacks is for the Church to be united, “speak with one voice and let the world know that Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen are orchestrated attacks on the Church. All the Christians in Nigeria must see these attacks as intentionally designed destruction against the Body of Christ in Nigeria. The unity of the Church will go a long way in solving the problem.” “The target of all these Islamic attacks is the Church and the goal is to destroy the Church so that Islam can take over,” Datiri said, lamenting that in the midst of the ferocious attacks, compromise is still noticed amongst ministers of the gospel, even in the affected areas. Acknowledging that it is a serious problem in the Church, the COCIN helmsman said: “As the devil is working through Boko Haram and the other insurgents from outside to destroy the Church, we also notice that unsanctified ministers of the gospel also weaken the Church from within.” He stressed the urgent need for the Nigerian Church to unite to confront this evil agenda to eradicate Christianity in the country, and intensify prayers and intercession, particularly for the Christians in the North. The cleric debunked the argument that the objective of Boko Haram was not religious, arguing that the average Muslim believes that he is born to rule and dominate every other person in Nigeria. “To them, everything is the same — religion, politics, commerce, and so on. So, if you do not practise the religion that they believe in, then you imply that you are not under their control and they will fight that. “The only thing that will save the Church is for us to be united. If the Nigerian Church can unite, they will stop these Islamic attacks. I think that the biggest problem Nigerian Christians have is that we lack genuine Christian conviction. For many Nigerian Christians, their faith is superficial, it is only on the surface. We need to develop deep faith and the way we can easily do that is to pay attention to Biblical discipleship. If we cultivate genuine Christian conviction, our problems will be over. “One important area in which we appeal for the support of Christians nationwide is meeting the needs of the victims of these attacks. In most instances, those who survive are often impoverished. Every means of livelihood is intentionally destroyed by these rampaging forces. “Their homes are burnt to the ground, their properties are burnt, their food is destroyed and even their farmland is destroyed. The Fulani herdsmen intentionally go to the farms and destroy the food crops. The aim is to impoverish the people, destroy their economy so that they can dominate and control them. “There is a great need for material and financial support for the brethren undergoing these persecutions. They need clothes, foods, medical treatment and so on,” Rev. Datiri appealed to fellow Christians in the country. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/07/nigerian-church-endangered-if-boko-haram-captures-plateau-cocin-president/ |
Tragedy was averted yesterday at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 in Lagos following a ground collision of two aircraft belonging to FirstNation Airways. A similar incident had occurred at the airport on July 6, following the collision of two aircraft belonging to Emirates and Hak Air. Yesterday’s incident which happened at about midday involved two Airbus 330 conveying no fewer than 250 passengers. The two aircraft were partially damaged as a result of the collision. A source at the airport said one of the aircraft was taxiing from the runway to the terminal, for passengers to disembark, while the other aircraft was preparing to take off to Port-Harcourt from the same terminal. The source said the pilot may have been misdirected by the marshals who led the pilot to taxi to the wrong part of the apron. According to the source, the Port Harcourt bound aircraft was parked at Gate 4 while the arriving aircraft was bound for Gate 3 of the terminal. However, the source claimed that the marshals misdirected the arriving aircraft to the same Gate as the parked aircraft which led to the two wings brushing each other. Following the incident, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority immediately grounded both aircraft while passengers were asked to disembark by the airline. It was gathered that the refund of tickets were made to passengers on the Port-Harcourt bound aircraft by the airline. The NCAA also confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Fan Ndubuoke. Mr. Ndubuoke said no passenger was hurt and that the incident had been referred to the Accident Investigation Bureau for further investigation. He also reiterated NCAA’s commitment to safety and security of passengers. (NAN) http://nigerianpilot.com/tinubu-planes-collide-in-lagos-airport/

Rivers LG: Industrial Court Ruling Cannot Overrule High Court Judgement – Akpedeye Channels Television. Updated July 13, 2015 A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr Dafe Akpedeye, has said that the Industrial Court ruling cannot overrule the Federal High Court judgement on the leadership of Rivers State Local Councils. Mr Akpedeye, who spoke on a programme on Channels Television via telephone from Benin city, the Edo State capital, warned of a looming judicial anarchy if the court decision is not properly managed. He stressed that unless there is a Court of Appeal intervention, the subsisting High Court ruling on the Rivers council leadership stands. A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, had nullified the election of chairmen and councillors of the 22 Local Government Councils in the state. The judgement was applauded by some stakeholders but it has equally attracted protests from different groups. There were reports that the Police, on Saturday, vacated the secretariats of the 22 Local Government Councils of the state on the order of the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, a report it has since debunked. The Rivers State Police Command has warned groups to suspend planned protests in Port Harcourt on Monday, in support or against the judgement of Justice Lambo Akanbi of the Federal High Court. The Police said that intelligence report revealed that a group planned to protest against the judgment of the court, as well as the swearing in of caretaker committee by Governor Nyesom Wike to run the affairs of the councils and this protest would be countered by another group supporting the judgement. The Command, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday, said that such protests, if allowed, could get out of hand and lead to breakdown of law and order in the state. http://www.channelstv.com/2015/07/13/rivers-lg-industrial-court-ruling-cannot-overrule-high-court-judgement-akpedeye/ |

Well known for his tough lectures, popular Islamic scholar and preacher, Sheik Muyideen Bello is at it again. Bello has said a Muslim man will be doing himself more harm by marrying just one wife, but instead he will advise such a man to start with two. He made this known in one of his lectures titled Legal Marriage. Enjoy! “Allah said a man should marry any kind of woman he likes. As a man, if you want to marry a fair-complexioned or dark woman, marry her. Allah said we should start from 2 women. I know women will not like to hear this. If you have to marry, start with 2 women, that is what the Quran says. The Yorubas have a saying that a man with 1 woman isn’t a real man. For instance if you are married to 1 wife and she over-salts your food, you have just 1 wife. You don’t have a choice than to eat the food or buy food outside. “I have received so many messages from people that why should I encourage polygamy. I tell them, is it me encouraging polygamy? Allah said you should marry 2, 3, 4. Allah said if as a man you know you can’t take care of them, then marry 1. Then if you are a me&my wife kind of man, the implications are too many. As Muslims, 4 women is the maximum a man can have, have 2 living with you then if you have 2 houses outside, you put the other 2 there. The implications in marrying just 1 wife are too many http://omojuwa.com/2015/07/it-is-dangerous-marrying-one-wife-as-a-muslim-you-need-two-above-muslim-scholar/

If over 700Billion Naira is derive from dividends and taxes paid to the Federation Account by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG),in one Month. That means 8.4 Trillion Naira is expected in one year from this source. When you add crude oil sales to it, I guess Nigeria will almost be like Dubai in 4years. |

Let him start from past administrations cos corruption didn't start in GEJ tenure. From 1977 till date including the past governors. |
Following the aftermath of the APC convention. Gov. Amaechi has this to say: “Let it be known, that I didn’t just join the APC, I was wooed by the legacy parties and four other PDP governors then. Naturally in every bargain, interests must be spelt out. Of course they did promise me the Vice Presidential ticket in the forth coming election with a condition to sell the party and make President Jonathan unpopular. The initial arrangement was to pair me with Hon. Tambuwal (Speaker of House of Representatives) . But when other entrants like Atiku and others entered the party, everything changed. It was Gov. Nyako that opened up to me on the recent changes, and pleaded with me to take the position of the National chairman of party, that it will be zoned to the South-South. And I grudgingly accepted. Now, in every political convention, consensus building is needed to harmonize all interests. So I initiated a platform for the 16 APC governors to talk in Port-Harcourt last week. And in that meeting, the 13 governors and their deputies that were in attendance reassured me that I will be given the national chairmanship slot. But when I asked Gov. Adams to ask Chief Ikimi and John Oyegun to step down for my candidate, Adam’s quietly told me “My brother, I know the bad name they have called you in the South-South and Rivers in particular. Again, I sympathize with you because I know how much you have put-in in APC, this Yoruba and Hausa people can’t be trusted, they said you couldn’t build the APC in Rivers State and that only 95,633 out of the 1.3 million membership you claimed have passport photographs. That everything was doctored by you”. I find it very disappointing, that we no longer have men of trust, and integrity. Men whose words should be their bond in politics. So last night, I made my position clear, that if the other candidates didn’t step down for Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, then there was no point picking the expression of interest form. I feel deeply betrayed” Source:http://reportsafrique.com/2015/07/how-i-was-betrayed-by-tinubu-buhari-gov-amaechi-shares-his-story/ |
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Saturday, urged Muslims in the North to adopt new approaches to address the social, economic and political challenges facing them. Sanusi gave the advice in Kaduna at the 10th annual Ramadan Lecture organised by Voice of Nigeria (VON), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), with the theme: ‘The Challenges of Muslim Ummah in the 21st Century.’ He said that the region’s failure to invest in quality education and scholarship was partly responsible for its backwardness and rise of divisive groups like the Boko Haram. The emir observed that due to dwindling socio-economic situation in the region, majority of the people, particularly the youth, have been left without any hope in life and therefore, easy recruits into insurgency. “If there is no future in a society, then Boko Haram ideas will thrive,” he said. The emir advised political and religious leaders in the region to take a cue from other regions in the country and thrive to effect necessary changes. “If Borno and Yobe were a country, they would be poorer than Niger, Chad and Cameroon. No wonder, the Boko Haram crisis started there,” he added. Sanusi stressed the need for Muslims in the North to regulate religious preaching and stop exposing their children to ‘quack Malams.’ He also advised parents to take “very serious interest in the activities of their children”, saying that the new media had radicalised a lot of youths across the world and turned them into extremists. “We need to watch what our children watch. If we do not give them the correct Islamic education, they will get the wrong one from somewhere else.” He also challenged the Muslims to undertake a holistic change in their approach to socio-economic issues. “We must not continue to allow culture to be dorminant in our lives. We need to look at ourselves, reappraise our socio-economic approach to life,” he said. The emir said Muslim clerics must take common stand on contemporary issues such as age of marriage in Islam, women education, rights and forced marriage as well as modernisation and education generally Source:http://nigerianpilot.com/insurgency-emir-of-kano-blames-north-over-failure-to-invest-in-education/
