So my interview was by 6:30, i got there around 3am, due to Lagos traffic, because i live in Ikorodu, i don't want to take any risk i would later regret.

Interviewer was a black American lady, sort of busty. Window 5

ME: Good morning, How was the holiday (Easter)

VO: Good morning it was great, yours?

ME: Great also, thank you.

VO: What course did you study for your 1st degree?

ME: Linguistics

VO: When did you graduate?

ME: 2019

VO: Have you ever traveled out of Nigeria before?

ME: No i haven't

VO: So why is it now you are going for your masters after 4 years?

ME: I needed to acquire some set of skills before going for masters, which i did, but then masters degree has a very big edge over bachelors degree here in Nigeria.

VO: But it is also the same way in the US.

ME: Well, like i said before, i have traveled out of Nigeria before, so i can't say i know how it is outside the country, i only know for my home country.

VO: (Smile) So what do you do currently?

ME: I was a software developer as at last year October when i filled my DS-160 form, but now i am a content and program editor for a radio station (radio name)

VO: I want to know what you do currently?

ME: I am a content and program editor.

VO: Who is funding you?

ME: I have a GA with the school and my elder sister is paying for the remaining deficit.

VO: What does your sister do?

ME: She is a Senior Software developer and also has a side business, which is real estate.

VO: (Typed for long and fast, then she looked at me and said) Your visa has been approved, congratulations...

Omo i nearly prostrate for her. Grace found me, at my first try for traveling out.

I sent an inquiry mail to my department, and they responded that they are reviewing the applications on a first come- first serve basis.

Those people sef go don tire for me because na every month I dey send them mail.

But I find it kinda strange that by late February/early March, they are still reviewing applications.

I don't believe in shooting shots aimlessly, when it's not even for an ivy league. Because I really don't have the time, money or emotions to waste. Meet their requirements and see whether they won't give it to you. For every school I have applied to, I have gotten accepted, even to an R1... except for FIU, which is still because I could not get a supervisor (as advised in the requirements) prior to dashing them my app fee.

Very possible. Had such a experience in the past where a PI interviewed
me and told me he will accept me only for me to get a love letter after three weeks. I emailed him later and he didn't reply me again. The truth is that Admission Committee has the final say except if the PI will fund your research and not the department.

Is it possible for one to be refused admission for aresearch-based MSc or PhD despite securing a supervisor?

I'll soon begin sending emails to lecturers in my target schools for fall 2024 admission, but these love letter updates here is getting me worried.

Thanks bro. You're correct, I have a MSc. But I didn't use it for the application process. Just my BSc.

Congratulations! Your AL status probably shows you have MSc or am I wrong?

CGPA: 4.77/5
No GRE, no TOEFL.
No publication.
Strong LORs and SOP.
4 years teaching experience as GA and AL.
Some awards and scholarships.

That's pretty much it.

Gurus in the house please is it ideal for someone whose admission status reads "Program review in progress" since October last year to write to the department graduate program coordinator intimating him that he has been able to add to his publication lists having published two articles after he submitted application. The person's intention is to boost his chances since it seems he has been wait listed

Has anyone heard from University of Alabama Tuscaloosa for fall 2023 concerning interview invites, rejection or acceptance letter?

One who is 27 today will be 27 +1 day tomorrow and the counting continues and your not sure if a man will propose to her tomorrow and she wants to marry before clocking 30. The ratio of men to women is still widening and in disadvantage to women folks since white men asked us to jettisoned polygamy instituted by our ancestors. I mean amongst the Christian community

Having another relationship is immaterial here especially if it is not marriage tailored and your partner is not ready at the moment and you are willing to marry now!
1. X-ray her character if it is OK and yours too then is a goal!
2. Engage in-house-courtship (I don't mean she should park in oo) with her at least for six months and if there is compatibility then is a goal
3. Don't accept any money from her for wedding prosecution but do it according to your financial capacity and if that is not OK for her is not a goal!
4. Keep this proposal from her secret and don't mention it to any body especially your family member as it will give her poor credence & value which will affect her personality as a woman. I admire her courage any way
5. For me the red flags in her proposal are a) reference to your financial status. Even if she will help, it is wrong to mention it at this stage of your interaction. Your acceptance to that offer is your decision for me I wouldn't take b) asking you to leave your gf if actually both of you are discussing marriage is also a red flag but this may be as a result of desperation in wanting to tie the knot
6. Wish you well in your final decision!

APC led Government in Kogi State has rendered the populace more poor than poverty itself and bastardized them with hunger that nobody could even muster energy to attend LP rally. We all know kogi populace are civil servants and they get half salary once in 6 months. So don't expect them to attend any rally but for sure they are all obedient.

Applied to US University since 13th July for Spring PhD Admission and no yet feedback. Emailed the Graduate Admission Director last month and he said my application is with the program for review with a follow up mail a week later to Graduate Program Director with no response. Should I still remain calm or send another email to Admission Department?

I guess what you are referring to here is institutional email? Did you give any information that requires proof? I advise you to be honest because official or institutional email could only be possible if you are working or have identified with an organization. If my answer is not apt respond so other could help

If you fill application form for admission but couldn't upload or submit it because you weren't able to raise fund and pay for application fees, is there any likely chance of the College/department admission committee assessing and evaluating your [application form]* and if you are a competitive applicant possibly giving you a waiver even when the application deadline is over?
