hasnt orochimaru thrashed jiriaya everytime even when they were younger but what did tsunade or itachi do to him?!!!he lost part of his arm to itachi and tsunade bleeped him up real good. that has always been the premise of shounen manga,it always a kind of tussle between who's stronger one guy beats the crap out of another yet a third fcuks up the first badly and you are like WTF?!even their comment atimes make you believe that until chapters later you get your mind blown away.
make no mistake jiriaya is strong but he had to die for the story to progress and naruto to progress as well.Naruto no matter what anyone says is and will always be stronger than sasuke but sasuke is smarter;naruto has always been a dunce but if he ever goes all out against sasuke what do you think will happen.Pain is stronger than jiriaya because of his rinne'gan and having info on a guy just makes the person bring forth the bestt of his/her jutsu/skills,thats a staple of shounen.If you've ever seen DBZ goku and piccolo had to team up to beat raditz,goku dying in the process but later on got ridiculous amounts of power,imagine if he had faced raditz that way!!!

Actually Madara Uchiha is the Akatsuki leader and is also Tobi. Itachi explains this to Sasuke if you read the Manga chapter where Sasuke and Itachi face off. When Madara Uchiha was younger, him and his brother were fighting. They matched each other's moves and everything. They finally showed off their abilities but Madara reached the Mangekyou Sharingan without killing his best friend because he was the first Uchiha and first Sharingan user. (He was the son of the Tengu God and a Hyuuga. The offspring turned the Byakugan into something worst, the Sharingan.) You know how when you use the Mangekyou, you become blind in the end? Well Madara used it so much, he became blind, screaming let me out of this darkness. Once he got fed up with it, Madara reached to his brother to yank out his eyes and replace his own. Once this happened, Madara was able to use the Mangekyou Sharingan as often as he liked without the fear of going blind. Itachi is going blind, and wishes to steal Sasuke's eyes. That's the reason Itachi killed his clan. So he could use Sasuke's eyes. In order for him to use them, Itachi wanted those eyes to be strong. So he killed his family but left Sasuke alive, so Sasuke can become an avenger. Basically since Itachi told Sasuke to gain the Mangekyou and see him, he wanted Sasuke's eyes strong and powerful. He says all this in the Manga. Read it yourself. Anyhow. Back on main topic, Madara, after this he created a gang/crew called "The Hidden Leaf". Which soon became into a village. Madara was the leader and The other man known as the Fourth Hokage was the secondary leader. Something about the village's politics screwed them both up and ended in a battle. As you all may know, the place where Madara and the 1st battled. Madara lost and ran-off and created "The Akatsuki." Soon after this, Madara lost his will and his might, but did not lose his power. Tobi is actually the Akatsuki leader, thus he put Pein in charge due to his insane personally. "The Good Boy". Uchiha Madara started this Akatsuki because of of the nine-tailed. The beast he used to gain power to defeat his father, the Tengu God. Madara and his father fought for ages before the Uchiha clan was born. This is before Madara and the 1st fought. Since the Tengu was invincible, Madara sealed him away. Only way to unlock him is the power of 3 Mangekyou Sharingan users and the Nine-Tailed power. Another theory is why Itachi killed his clan for this. He heard the story and considered his clan weak for this. He killed them because he knew that the Clan wasn't going to allow his ambitions. Which was to awaken the Tengu God. He killed them all and left Sasuke to avenge his family and gain the Mangekyou. Once Sasuke had this power then Tobi (Madara Uchiha), Itachi, and Sasuke will have the Mangekyou. Thus which just leaves them Naruto, due to his Nine-Tailed power. Tobi isn't aware of this because he's basically lost his mind from the battle with the 1st. So, Tobi (Madara) didn't do anything for the slaughtering of his people, nor try to stop Itachi for his ambitions. Thus, in the end, Tobi gain's his sanity back and reveals himself, saying "This is the power of I, Uchiha Madara's power". In comics, Japanese ones, they mostly speak in third person when reffering to themselves. Hope this help's as well!!!
