pressy011:
Akeredolu Commences Construction of World-Class Teaching Hospital in Akure

...Targets 500 Bed Medical Facility

The determination of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration to provide first-class health facilities for the people of Ondo State has taken another giant leap with the commencement of the construction of a modern world-class teaching hospital at the former State hospital in Akure, the state capital.

Already, the Critical Care Unit complex has been constructed and will be used as the temporary Accident and Emergency ward to allow for the demolition and construction of a two-storey complex at the current A & E building.

Similarly, a new building has been constructed for the Children Emergency ward, which was never in existence since the establishment of the hospital.
The Akeredolu administration has also began the reconstruction of a 16-year old abandoned structure at the hospital, which is projected to be used for surgical outpatience and stroke ward.

Addressing Journalists after inspecting the ongoing construction at the facility, Governor Akeredolu said his administration is upgrading the health facility from a 150-bed to a 300-bed hospital.

Arakunrin Akeredolu also hinted that he has given a directive that houses very close to the hospital should be valued, as his administration is ready to acquire the buildings and compensate the owners.

He said apart from the fact that it is very dangerous living very close to a hospital, the acquisition will enable government to expand the facility and build a modern world-class Teaching hospital.

Akeredolu said:”All of us have toured this facility and I’m sure you remember what we met on ground here . Since we came on board ,things have changed here including the road network and a number of buildings here have been renovated, but we have just started

“The important thing is that we are building a new medical ward, a two-storey building and it will be so big. Very soon, by next month the frontage will go down and it will allow for a modern medical world-class facility here.
“It is taking us a lot to arrive at making this place a world-class teaching hospital . We know that the University of Medical Sciences needed to have a befitting hospital . Instead of building new ones or concentrating in one area, we decided to have a multi-sector hospital.

“This place used to be a 150-bed hospital and it will be 300-bed when we complete it.
"I have looked at the buildings that are too close to the hospital and I have asked that they should be valued so that we can acquire them and compensate the owners .

”Our target is to have a 500-bed teaching hospital . A number of buildings around will have to go and we will pay compensation and expand the hospital to make it big.”

Good job.
Make next governor no abandon the teaching hospital.

Imo state established a teaching hospital 18 years ago.
But it's outside state capital.

State capital people in alliance with Ohakim and Okorocha crushed the teaching hospital. State capital people say everything development must be in state capital - or die.
Imo is a state which needs God's attention.

stephanie11:
The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to reiterate its earlier alert to the nation of plans by subversive groups and individuals to undermine national security, peace and unity in the country. These elements are determined to exploit political differences and other occurrences, within and outside the country, to destabilize the nation.

They also initiate narratives to deepen their subversive objectives so as to achieve preferred illegal outcomes. The aim is to set the country on fire as well as inflame passions across ethnic and religious divides with expected violent consequences. Also, the Service expresses dismay over the increasing use of fake news and unsubstantiated information spread across social media platforms to deceive and incite sections of the populace to civil unrest.

While condemning the unpatriotic and misguided activities of these anti-social elements, the Service equally warns them to desist forthwith from their unholy acts as the full weight of the law will be brought against them. In the same vein, citizens are enjoined to remain law abiding, peaceful and report any suspicions likely to inhibit public safety to appropriate authorities. On its part, the Service will remain committed in its pursuit of national stability in line with its statutory mandate of protecting the country against crimes and threats to its internal security.

The Imo State govt will today release its 2019 budget. After years of secrecy, its 2015-2017 audited reports were last week released to BudgIT.

The Emeka Ihedioha's govt is also poised to sign up to the Open Budget System.

The Imo State Government would release its 2019 budget, which was signed into law by former governor Rochas Okorocha.

At a meeting with BudgIT, the state government also committed to signing the MoU on Open Budget System at the State Executive Meeting on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

Note that this development enables us to support the state in meeting the WorldBank requirements for SFTAS development supports.

BudgIT is on nation-wide advocacy to state governments to improve their fiscal transparency and accountability.

But Oga gov Ihedioha, do not budget to destroy what former gov Okorocha built.

If you budget to knock down our old secretariat to build new site for Imo state university in Owerri, as you propose, but ignore the nice university built by Okorocha govt for Imo state university at Ogboko, what you build must be abandoned by next governor.

It's no sin to have one of the six tertiary education institutions now in Owerri to be out of Owerri.

Nigeria's constitution does not even permit such cluster of development projects in one zone of a state.

Imo budget of destruction and rebuilding, after which next governor destroys is getting out of hand.

Why not? No southern presidential candidate can win 25% of votes in 24 states as required by law, unless north is tired of ruling.

Because the rigged, lopsided and fraudulent political structure of 20 political units in one northern region, but only 17 political units in two southern regions are increasingly hardly questioned by inept southern political class whose members now play subservience slaves to northern political class.
Northern soldiers supervised state creation and proliferated too many states in the northern region.

Land mass or population is NEVER used in other countries as parameter to determine how many states that can be created in any region in a country formed by many different regions.

There should have been more states in the two southern regions than in the northern region.

A dying Irishman went for one last big score in Nigeria. The project failed, but a London tribunal says his company’s owed $9 billion and counting.

By Kit Chellel, Joe Light, and Ruth Olurounbi

Gaslighting

The oilfield fires of the Niger Delta burn day and night. Metal pipes snake through the swampland, spewing flames so vast they cast the sky in apocalyptic orange. Southern Nigeria sits atop a bubbling stew of oil and gas. Companies want only the former, so they incinerate the latter. The industry calls it “flaring.”

For millions of Nigerians, flaring is a curse. It fills the air with toxic fumes that cause respiratory disease and cancer and later fall as acid rain, which damages homes and crops. It also wastes vast amounts of energy in a region where many villages lack electricity and cities suffer daily blackouts.

In 2008 the Nigerian government said it would end flaring by using oilfield gas to generate electricity. The minister of petroleum resources acknowledged that the challenge would be “enormous.” Converting gas requires it to be captured, transported, refined, and piped back to power plants and onto the grid.

Officials struggled to persuade big multinationals to invest in the required infrastructure, so concessions were granted to 13 smaller companies, some virtually unknown. One was Process and Industrial Developments Ltd., or P&ID, which was registered in the British Virgin Islands but had no website or track record. Its chairman was Michael “Mick” Quinn, a 68-year-old Irishman with a rakish mustache and decades of experience in Nigeria, mostly as a military contractor.

Quinn knew powerful people, including the petroleum minister, who guaranteed P&ID a 20-year supply of “wet,” or unrefined, gas for a plant the company would build. The raw material would be supplied for free, to be treated and returned at no cost. P&ID would instead profit from the byproducts, butane and propane. Everyone stood to benefit, not least the villagers whose homes would be lit by electricity rather than the wan glow of flaming methane.

Then the plan fell apart. The government failed to secure any waste gas from oil companies, let alone link up the necessary pipeline, and the plant was never built. In 2012, P&ID notified the oil ministry that it was suing for breach of contract in a London arbitration forum. After a set of closed legal proceedings, judges awarded P&ID $6.6 billion, one of the biggest amounts a company has won from a sovereign state. When Nigeria dragged its feet on payment, P&ID teamed up with a hedge fund and moved the case to public courts, where it could ask judges to seize state assets, including bank accounts and cargo ships.

In the summer of 2018, a man who’d worked for Quinn contacted Joseph Pizzurro, a veteran New York lawyer hired by Nigeria to lead its defense in the U.S. The caller wanted to talk about the P&ID case. “I don’t think it’s genuine,” the man said, according to an account he gave Bloomberg Businessweek on condition of anonymity because he feared for his safety. He told Pizzurro that Quinn had conspired with officials to profit from government projects that were doomed from the start and that P&ID was one of at least three such lawsuits involving Quinn. The caller couldn’t provide enough evidence to substantiate his claims, though, and he didn’t contact Pizzurro again.

This August, P&ID won a ruling from a London judge allowing the firm to start seizing Nigerian assets. Hailed as a vindication by Quinn’s company, it caused an outcry in Nigeria. The country’s finance minister said at a press conference that the size of the award, which has risen above $9 billion with interest, meant all Nigerians would pay a price. The chair of the central bank said that the case has affected monetary policy. Toward the end of the month, the justice ministry opened a corruption investigation into how the gas plant deal was struck. “The contract was designed to fail right from inception,” attorney general Abubakar Malami told reporters. If the Nigerian government is right, P&ID was an audacious scheme that had made unwitting accomplices of legal professionals, financial institutions, and politicians around the world.

The company and its founders remain elusive. A Nigerian newspaper recently published a list of unanswered questions about the firm: Where are its offices? How many people does it employ? How did such a tiny company win such a large concession? Quinn isn’t around to answer them; he died of cancer in 2015. But a close examination of his career, drawn from public records, leaked documents, and interviews with friends and former associates, shows that P&ID wasn’t the only Quinn project to end in disappointment, lawsuits, and corruption allegations. It was just the largest—the one that was supposed to provide his biggest payday.

POLITICSNIGERIA.COM

Kogi West Senator, Dino jonah Melaye narrowly escaped death after unknown gunmen stormed the venue of the Governorship Primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

Melaye was injured during the chaos. POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that Early Wednesday morning as the exercise was being carried, hoodlums armed to the teeth stormed the stadium and started shooting sporadically. Delegates and Party chieftains scampered to safety, with many crawling on their bellies to avoid being hit by Stray bullets.

A statement released by Melaye's media team claims that the senator was the main target of the target. The statement read;

"The disruption and sporadic shootings in the early hours of today at the venue of PDP primary which led to an abrupt end of the exercise was aimed at Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye."

"The bid by Sen Dino Melaye to join the governorship race has since unsettled the camp of Governor Yahaya Bello. It is in the public domain already that Sen Dino Melaye is the only threat to the reelection of governor Bello with all capacities to defeat him."

"The gunmen came chanting different languages and forced their way into the venue with Dino Melaye as major target. We wish to equally bring to the public that Sen Dino Melaye sustained injuries from shots at the venue but now receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital. Doctors are still battling to stabilize him as a result of the attack."

"This is the extent to which they intend to nail their target. We thank God for his life, but surely, evil men shall be exposed. For us, election is not a war but a process where people are allowed to decide freely who run their affairs. We have it on good authority from their camp to the fact that it is only Sen Dino Melaye that can challenge them in the election ahead."

"This led to the plan to disrupt and made him target in a bid to cow him. We wish to state that distinguished Melaye remains unperturbed, strong, more determined and more focused on the project to rescue Kogi state."

"We, therefore, urge all our supporters across the state to remain law-abiding, focus and resolute as light will definitely prevail over darkness."

Some countries in Africa have massively improved in all spheres, including in the quality of roads which aids ease of transportation .
The World Economic Forum (WEF), rated countries all over the world according to the quality of their roads. But in this post, we would be focusing on Africa.

Its pertinent to note that not only does the quality of roads determine how long it takes to get to our destinations, it also determines how frequently maintenance is carried out on cars due to damages caused by poor roads.

The WEF rated these countries on a scale of 1.0-7.0, 1.0 being extremely poor and 7.0 extremely good.

Let’s take a look at them

1.Namibia -5.10
2.Rwanda -4.70
3.Egypt -4.50
4.Mauritius -4.50
5.Morocco -4.50
6.Seychelles -4.50
7.South Africa -4.30
8.Swaziland -4.30
9.Kenya -4.20
10.Cape Verde -3.80
11.Gambia -3.80
12.Tunisia -3.80
13.Senegal -3.70
14.Tanzania -3.70
15.Algeria -3.60
16.Botswana -3.60
17. Seirra Leone -3.60
18.Ghana -3.50
19.Uganda -3.50
20.Mali -3.40
21.Zambia -3.40
22.Ethiopia -3.30
23.Ivory Coast -3.30
24.Burundi -3.00
25.Benin -2.90
26.Malawi -2.90
27.Cameroon -2.80
28.Liberia -2.80
29.Burkina Faso-2.70
30.Zimbabwe- 2.70

Once again, Nigeria did not make it to this list, Nigeria is 33rd in Africa, out of 38 rated African countries. In the whole world Nigeria takes the 133rd position out of 140 rated countries , with a rating of 2.40.

What do you think ?

Let me then see what shall continue to attract the 12 Sharia states of northern Nigeria to one Nigeria;
after the Sharia states urinated on Nigeria's constitution and unilaterally adopted unconstitutional Sharia criminal justice system from 1999.

Sharia criminal justice system includes stoning women to death for adultery, cutting off hands of thieves, death for apostasy, etc.

No southern Nigeria state can tolerate to share one country with any group practising Sharia criminal justice system.

But last week, Ihedioha set his commissioner of Education, Viola Onwuliri, to tell IMSU management that Ihedioha has ordered that the old IMSG secretariat in Owerri along Okigwe road be demolished and added as part of Imo state University in his Owerri zone..
Three universities and four tertiary education institutions in Imo state are all located in Owerri zone of mine local government areas; none in Orlu zone of 12 local government areas, none in Okigwe zone of six local government areas.

Thus; Ihedioha wants to tax people of the state again, or use the federal allocations to demolish structures in Owerri to build new structures for IMSU in Owerri, but abandon the ultramodern University structures built by Okorocha govt in Ogboko, in Orlu zone..

grin INEC first of all lied that it does not have a server. Then lies that it never did electronic transmission/ computation of result. Then lied again that it has a server but only used it for a pilot electronic process that is allegedly not backed by Nigerian law but provision was made for it in its 2019 electoral budget.

Meaning the FG and INEC should be prosecuted by the EFCC, ICPC & other antigraft agencies tongue but as we all know, the APC is a government is a band of professional liars, scammers, fraudsters and democratic tyrannts.

It's always difficult for liars to retrace their footsteps because they don't keep track of how much lies they have told.Lies have a beginning and end but the fact is that you can never be trusted.
From the too many uncovered lies and contradictions coming from INEC and PMB's lawyers, it can take only judges from war-torn Yemen to not annul PMB's victory.

Boreanazfan:
It is good American citizens in Nigeria are going through what Nigerian citizens also go through in their own country when applying for British and American visas.

How Nigerians experience unimaginable stress just to appear for their visa interview or submit biometrics, after paying huge unrefundable sums, and eventually don't get the visa!
Just go to Metro plaza Abuja to submit biometrics; and you pay extra N10k just for them to help you upload your documents!

Why do Americans always demand preferential treatment? 270 dollars na small amount sef!

Until we as a country decide to do the right thing- have bona fide free and fair elections with credible candidates who are not imposed on us by the popular parties; make genuine efforts to improve ourselves and our economy so that Nigerians know they can make it in their own country, rather than seeking the so-called greener pastures.

Until we start taking ourselves seriously, no one will ever take us seriously.
But Nigeria can't get credible and capable leader unless the current political structure and governance system are reshaped.

But northern Nigeria which restructured the country with its soldiers no longer agrees to reshape of Nigeria's lopsided political structure and unitary governance system.

Still won't stop him from recovering all the yam Rochas ate.

That thing Roachas so much wanted to conceal even at the expense of his own party the ruling party, imo people must find out.
He he he.
The biggest yam earlier alleged that Rochas ate, he handed it to Ihedioha.
What has Ihedioha done with the yam, even after his committee told him what to do with the yam?

I mean Eastern Palm University Ogboko.
Ihedioha and Viola Onwuliri say Imo govt is to build fresh university buildings for Imo state university in Owerri.

Rochas must be accountable for his shiit. You no go shiit and expect another person to pack am for you.
But Ihedioha is shitting the more with his parochial machinations in Imo state. Ihedioha is only after the Okorocha shiit on Ihedioha's Owerri area.
That's the root of the palava.

Channels TV's video of President Buhari's interaction with Nigerians in Japan.

He basically said that Nigerians in Japan have done well and represented the country well. There are some Nigerians giving Nigeria a bad name, but they are a minority and Nigerians are not bad people. He said that he will not support criminality anywhere, whether at home or abroad.
