VOsimhen144: To be a man is not easy. 2021 has been a rough year for me, yet I'm gonna keep on working and hustling hard still thy kingdom come.
As at now, here is my networth (home and abroad). I'm crossing over to the New Year With - 6 naira, but I believe 2022 would be a great year for me and by the end of 2022 my account will be swimming in + 6 figures and beyond.
As the year runs out, I thought it wise to once again reflect on lessons we have leart so far this year. I believe that we live to learn and in learning we live.
Here are 5 penned down leasons I became acquitted with this year.
1. Expect the best but prepare for the worst. Planning Is good but only up to a certain point because, more time than not, life does not go according to plan. Do make your plans, but keep in mind things will most likely develop differently than what you planned.
As Mike Tyson once said " Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face."
You can't always get what you want no matter how you try. There are many things I tried to accomplish but no matter how I tried there are many challenges I kept facing.
2. Many people are too proud of whatever they think they have , belief or possess and tend to use this criteria to look down on others or fight them . We are proud of our ignorance, proud of our religion or denomination, proud of our tribe, proud of our socioeconomic status .
These are things we did nothing to get. We were fortunate to have found ourself in such tribe, religion, socioeconomic status (poor, rich or middle class) etc.
3. The 80/20 rule: This is a principle that states that roughly 80% of results are generated from 20% of efforts.
To explain this law further: • 20% of employees account for 80% of the companies success.
• You wear 20% of your clothes 80% of the time .
• You walk on 20% of your carpet 80% of the time.
• You spend 80% of your time with only 20% of your friends.
• 20% of Nairalanders deliver 80% of nairaland content.
4. People tend to remember more of your bad side that the good . You may do many good things but once you do bad, that is where you get heavy criticism irrespective of your past good deeds. You might have been helping someone consistently but the day you refuse, you are seen as lacking compassion or wicked.
I think the human brain has a tendency to remember more bad things than good. I also think that's why bad news tend to get our attention more than good ones.
5. People always judge a book by it's cover. Within seconds of seeing you people have already judge you based on how you appear and project their thoughts on what you are like ,even before getting to know you.
Bride price paying is not just cultural. It is Christian and it is Islamic. Which of the two religious faiths do you profess?
“Bride price isn’t paid but dowry”. My friend please note that pride price and dowry are the same depending on what side you are looking at it from. Some say “dowry” is a property given by a woman to her husband while getting married and “bride price” is the token or money given by a man or woman in the process of marriage. The fact remains that it is a practice accepted by most societies and it is accepted like I said earlier in Christianity and Islam.
You can check for yourself how in the Bible days “dowry” was paid by King David and also Abraham’s servant for Isaac. You may also ask our Islamic brothers and sisters how dowries are paid and collected according to Islamic injunction, because they do it.
That some families return the bride price paid does not eliminate the fact that the bride price was paid in the first place and accepted by the consenting families of the ladies. Some fathers simply claim that they “are not selling their child”. They take a token and return the rest thereafter.
Payment of the bride price is very symbolic in that it is the indicator of parental consent and acceptability by the families concerned. In some cultures, when the marriage ends in divorce it is pertinent that the family of the lady returns the dowry otherwise the lady is termed to still be married to the man.
Lastly different interpretations have come up in respect of the said matter. Our beliefs hold it without doubt that if you have not paid the dowry then you are not legally married. If therefore, you have not paid the dowry how then can two join together to become one? If the Alfa or Priest has not done the religious process, what then do you expect?
Cheers.
What about our brothers and sisters in Europe and America where bride price is not paid, you only go to court to get registered as couples and thats all, won't they make heaven? Mind you no one collect pride price or dowry, so people like don Moen won't make heaven?
Rinoxy: A friend married his wife as a virgin and has remained faithful to her. He suspected her of infidelity and confronted her, to his surprise vcshe said 'yes I slept with another man since you can't satisfy me'. Imagine the audacity!!!!
Note that this man has tried all he could to be better but she never cooperated with him. She's not remorseful and has been more disrespectful to him since the incident. Mature advice please as his sanity is paramount at the moment.
Which advice again, Abeg send that ungrateful bastard out of your house
steveneche: Am currently dating this lady, she is 32 I am 25. I really like her because she is mature, caring and financially independent too
We have been together for over a year now but am feeling sceptical about proposing to her. I have this feeling she will reject my proposal and that might affect our on ongoing relationship
I don't want to loose her so I want to know what you guys think especially the ladies in the house
As lady, do you think you can get married to a guy who is over 5year younger than you?
Candid opinion please!
Why not? My friend wife is 5 years older than him and she love ,respect my guy as if he is 100 years older than her. My advice don't propose to her publicly just discuss it with her first, let the two of you be on the same page.
gentlemmy: I was bored and decide to stroll around the compound, there is this particular spot where snakes usually chill early hours of the day or late evening. I've never seen one but anytime I'm there, I'm always cautious and secretely wish to see snakes (I've this double feeling about snakes, I hate it but like seeing it)
Lo and behold, I saw this juvenile snake hunting for insect or so, it sense my movement and run to safety, I thought of letting it go but in few months time, it'll be all grown and pose a threat to people around.
I picked a stone and threw on it and boom I hit it spine, it motion was limited and I picked it.
Supreme145: Good day Nairalanders, there have been a lingering cold war in my family between my parents and it has created a tension in my family that as the first son I'm running out of options on how to dunce this tension. My parents have been married for almost 30 years and just like another has been full of ups and downs.
I will try not to sound biased but my dad's authoritarian nature has caused a serious crack in my our family and made my mom a very unhappy woman that is just enduring the marriage for the sake of her children. Instead of the children to find solace in our home we all prefer to be far away due to the continuous rift between our parents. My dad has never laid his hands on our mom but constantly talks down on her even in front of the kids, and knowing my father you would rather prefer to be mended with 2x2 plank rather than my father letting his tongue lose on you. His mouth is filled with venom.
A while ago one of my siblings got a job as a cashier in a bet shop without my father's knowledge, we kept it away from him because we knew very well he would object because he hated anything bet. My mom on the other hand knowing fully well that the boy has been idle for a while gave her consent reluctantly. My dad got to know after he observed that the boy was dropping money at home frequently and when he inquired about the source of the money and learnt that he was working in bet shop all hell was let loose.
He called me on phone in school, which he rarely does just to confirm if I was aware which I replied in the affirmative. He said all manner of derogatory things to me, because he felt his position as the head of the home was threatened, he felt we the children was siding my mom to override his authority in the home. My siblings would later call me the following day to complain about how he spoke to my mom, the poor woman cried for days. They said my dad would never see a dime of their money if they get rich even though I know it was childish talk but that's how serious thing are.
Almost all my siblings have grown to hate my dad though they conceal it very well. His tyrannical rule is not helping matters at all, my dad is the kinda father that if you spoil an appliance in the house, it would be in your best interest to repair it before he becomes aware because the funny part is he won't say much to you rather all the aggression would be transfered to my mom. If we use the generator we would have to replace the quantity of fuel that we used. I was sleeping in lecture hall in school, my pop man insisted there was no money and even advised I withdrew from school if I can't cope only to get home to meet the news that he just bought a land lol.
While I don't expect much from him cos I'm of age, I don't like how he keeps alienating himself from my other siblings due to his nonchalant attitude to their warfare. Those kids would spend weeks at home due to non payment of school fees but he would spend hundreds of thousands fixing his car if it breaks down.
My mom called me today in tears, p man just left the house without dropping anything for Xmas, and even a cube of maggi is not at home, and its not as if he doesn't have money, I'm away of the big contracts he's working on at the moment whereas he's been spending on his car putting it in shape for travelling him. And he was the one that told momsi not to process her cassava and sell because she envisaged that something like this would happen.
Now my siblings have been bombarding me with complaints and this is why I preferred to stay back in school instead of traveling home. How should I approach this issue? I can't call a man and tell him how to use his money, I've been struggling to make mine so that I can offset some of the expenses from his shoulder.
I love my dad and I understand his struggles, i know what people without a father figure goes through but how can I stop the hate that is brewing towards him from my siblings? I want our home to be peaceful. Please I need your advice.
Some of the things you describe about your dad is 90% the same with my dad except of the money aspect and his kids out of school, my dad don't play with that, we failed to protect our mom from his abuse hence she develop high BP which later led to stroke and we lost her, I was so angry, still pissed till date the way she was treated by my dad, after her death I stayed away from my dad, the only thing I do is send him money for his upkeep, I don't call him. My advice for you is don't make the same mistake we made, call your dad to order and talk to him as a man, if not I see him ending alone with regret, he did not marry a house help he married a wife hence he need to treat her with respect.

So I completed my secondary school education in 2018, and I'll be starting college next year, to study Computer Engineering. My dad had bought me a laptop in 2017, when I was still in secondary school, but it started having issues about a year later and my dad spent a lot of money (about 50k) for repairs alone. He then gave up on the laptop and decided he would get me a new one soon. But it's been two years plus, and he is yet to give me a new one, because of some projects he has at hand.
Before the laptop started having issues, I had mastered everything, from typing fluently to operating the basic softwares such as Ms word, excel, PowerPoint, etc. After I completed my high school education, I started working in the church media unit, and in no time, I was the most preferred media personnel when it comes to scripture projecting, prayer points typing and more.
On July 17th this year, a man favoured me and gave me 160k to get myself a laptop. Since there are only mid-tier laptops at that price range, I decided that I'll keep the money, till when I raise about 200k extra to get a good laptop for 250k, capable of 3d animation which I desire to learn, and to also get myself a secondary monitor, mobile hotspot and a camera to start a YouTube Channel.
I've kept the money for about six months now. It's still intact because it's with my mom. But since it'll take time to save to that amount in order to add and buy the laptop, I have decided to invest the money in any business that will make me at least a 500k under six months. Is there any business that I can venture into?
I would really prefer online businesses that can be done with a mobile phone because of my health issues. But any business idea would still be appreciated!
hefexzy: Sylvester Omoroni was a victim of bully in his school Dowen college, which resulted to him losing his life after sustaining internal injuries from the bully. His family had went ahead to employ the service of Mr Femi Falana, a Lawyer.
On December 9 during a space Kemi Olunloyo hosted on twitter, the renowned self acclaimed journalist said 12 years old Sylvester was willing to join cult, agreed to be beating and also accepted to drink engine oil.
Kemi also went ahead to say he willingly told the guys initiating him that he has seen his sisters unclothedness. She also compared boarding school to Big Brother Naija.
Ever since she made that statement, she is been dragged on all social platform. Some people called her demented, some called her callous, some said she has been paid to say that, other people called her an insensitive mother.
obembet: My highlights this morning while watching this Experience 16 is when the representative of Lagos state governor sanwo olu came on stage to speak after pastor Paul Adefarasin introduced him. Nigeria youth booed the representative of sanwo olu from beginning of his speech to the end.
softwareman: Address the main issue and the substance of the rubbish lekki report. Shame on all of you that politicized this matter even when you knew the truth.
headSmasher: Baby factory criminals and drug traffickers wouldn't sleep well tonight, especially DJ snitch that think she can shine from Lagos after leaving her landlocked inviable erosion desecrated land to Lagos

I need help with my predicament. I just discovered a lounge where I normally hang out to watch sports and chill. Apparently the lounge also has a Spa that is managed by this beautiful married lady who is a mother of 3 children that are in University and one in final year of secondary school. I started crushing on this woman for some time now and I cant seem to take my mind of her. She is a tall, dark stallion with nice hips, ass and a very sweet voice.
We got talking the moment I went to her Spa to make some inquiries about her spa services and whether she runs home service as well. Along the line, she gave me her contact details and we have been chatting frequently. The thing is that I am madly in love with her but I don't know how to express my feelings and desires towards her.
I don't intend snatching her from her husband but I just want to have a romantic relationship with her but don't know how I will go about it.
I am a graduate in my mid 20s from Leed City University Ibadan with a degree in Engineering. I don't usually have issues in getting women but this has posed much of a challenge to me because I am deeply in love with a married woman.
Thoughts of her sometimes drives me to masturbation and it's driving me nuts. Please I need help on this matter.
FreeStuffsNG: They have started again. Here we go again. It's now back to CCTV story again?
I really hope government won't allow them hijack the narrative again and allow them burn down Lagos again.
For days now, concerned people have been asking how fictitious names and non existent names were listed as killed in Lekki, they are playing the ostrich yet pushing same over recycled narrative in the exact pattern that made people doubt their story and hold that no one died in the Lekki incident . The more they continue to play to the gallery, the more they will be exposed as liars. You say/write one lie, you will need more lies to cover it.
If you repeat a lie one billion times still won't make it the truth. Who are the real people who died in Lekki? Where are their families, friends, colleagues, pastors, imams, spouses etc? We have heard and read the CCTV story over and over again and that's why we want real answers so the culprits can be punished.
It is completely unacceptable that those claimed to be dead are fictitious and some died in 2019. What kind of panel does that anywhere in the world? Whether it is the petitioner(s) or/and the panel members that lied on oath, we need answers. The panel members must be vigorously investigated with same vigour as finding if there are real casualties in Lekki and their identities.
