spillo1: A stable defense is all he needs to build a strong team. He already has that. Even at that you still need a good striker which should be Martinez to lead the line and not Lukaku. I love skriniar He's great but he is lost in Conte 3 at the back system. A 4 man defence fits him more. He was lucky Milan didn't challenge his side yesterday. |

You can't challenge Juventus with a striker like Lukaku. Conte should build his attack around Martinez more. |

Melvyn11: That defensive organization from PSG made me cry, not since Mourinho I have seen us defend like that, Gueye and Veratti and even Marquinhos bossed us, that is how a midfield is supposed to protect its defense and supplement the attack, we had no game plan whatsoever. You guys had no midfield. PSG dominated it and overran it. You could have any players in the world, but if you put them in the system Zidane did yesterday, they would struggle. |

SkimpleD: This Madrid team just gives credence to Kimbeast’s argument that coaches can have a world class team and lack the technical know-how to make them successful.
Just look at. . Exactly skimple you can have all the world class players but without a balance you can't win anything. Madrid had no structure in their team play and Unless some drastic tactical invention, they will be doomed against any decent midfield. Yesterday Veratti did what kroos does with 100% more intensity and attentiveness and gueye like I said before is kante 2.0 a blessing to any club. |

wman: Bomb dey Lampard head.
Him just dey use style cover the guy jare. He is definitely first choice over Willian and jorginho.Barkley has taken one when Jorginho was on the pitch before. Maybe Barkley was supposed to be the designated penalty taker this season, but ends up not being a starter. Jorginho is therefore the penalty taker going into every game. Barkley gets subbed on when Mount gets injured. Jorginho goes into the game thinking he's the penalty taker. Barkley thinks he's the penalty taker when he's on the pitch. Ultimately they let the general first choice penalty taker take it. |

thorrvik55: How abt teams like Ajax, Monaco and Tottenham that were able to get to the semi finals of the champions league in recent years, would u say it was because they had a full starting xi of world class players or because of good management?
I would really appreciate a straight forward answer not amala turning Definitely good management. If a coach can create a balance in his team then their is a potential to achieve more than the team initial ability. The examples you gave are perfect. Jardim at Monaco and hagg at Ajax. I will put Di mateo at Chelsea to an extent. |

Ibime: This is a question of temperament rather than foresight.
A hot headed person who watch 45 odd minutes of play and claim a youngster can never make it needs to cool down their temperament.
No one would have said Abraham will trouble the golden boot, but if you watched his first 2 games, he was neat on the ball, fairly strong in hold-up play (which has always been a weak point of his game, and John Terry had to organise special training for him on holding off defenders). Combine that with his record at Aston Villa and his record breaking exploits in the youth team where he used to score 40-50 goals per season, it will take someone of poor temperament to write such a player off without giving him a decent chance.
Those of us who said it is better we give him shirt than loaning Higuain, or better than signing Giroud the previous season have a reason for thinking that way based on his exploits at youth level.. Agreed on the points raised. My initial thoughts on Tammy was he is nothing but a championship player like similar to Bamford and the likes of Gayle and Frazier Campbell who tore the championship apart and then flop among the bigger boys so I gave him a success rate of 0%. He has proved me wrong and I am still surprised on his tally already. Do you see Tammy staying long term at Chelsea? |

raumdeuter: Cappelo a serial winner suddenly became a bad coach when coaching England Eriksen also became a bad coach when coaching England
Truth is the players were useless and overhyped I gave you a perfect example of how Lippi was able to create balance in that Italian team. One major criticism of England in tournament was the lack of balance and that was down to error in management. If those coaches had created balance I mean who plays Lampard and Gerrard as your only midfielders in a 4-4-2. That is already a receipt for disaster. |

A40: Or the coaches failed due to over hyped players. Because you cannot show me any assortment of World class players that failed to reach semis of a major tournament over an 8 year and 5 tournament span Despite your believe of them being hyped, they were brilliant players and with a better coach they would have achieved more. |

A40: No need for all this long yarnin. I gave you a murderer's row of coaches with questionable technical skills that were able to succeed once they got capable players.
You can't sit there and tell me Capello, Eriksson and other experienced coaches who have forgotten more about football than any of us will be unable to conjure a formation that will get England at least to semifinal stage. I don't care if Christian Chukwu is their coach, the players are accountable
It's better for you to claim that they underachieved or blame ill fortune for their failure than to suggest that proven coaches who have won almost every trophy available suddenly forgot everything they know while surrounded by supposed world class players.
If the English players were that talented it would be harder to fail than to succeed They under achieved because of Bad Management. |

A40: I have shown you multiple teams with actual quality players who achieved success with coaches who were average to mediocre and had little to no pedigree before handling those teams and winning trophies
You have to be extremely biased to not see that it is nigh impossible to not achieve any type of success with that many world class players in your squad. Eriksson, Capello cannot all suck and not know what they are doing especially when they have proven it in the past that they can coach
I have asked you to show me any golden generation that stayed together for over 8 years and did not achieve any type of success (getting to ordinary semifinals) 18 hours later you're still telling stories that touch Here is why it's the coaches.... Lets take a contrast of italy and England and how cohesive the Italian midfield was in 2006, the way it was entirely built around getting the best out of Pirlo, Sven was trying to crowbar in the likes of Lampard, Gerrard and Beckham which was stupid.. Once Lippi got Pirlo and Totti, it was all about filling in the missing pieces for him to build the best collective. It was just so much balanced something a capable manager will do for England. Pirlo was the best deep-lying playmaker in the world, with the club and country foil of Gattuso who compensated perfectly for any weaknesses. Perrotta wasn't as impressive an individual as some of the English stars, but he played an important tactical role, tucking in to support the midfield and enabling Grosso to overlap down the flank. Ashley Cole was a far more defensively polished left-back than Grosso ever was, but Lippi didn't need another immaculate defender - he needed an attacking left back to go forward and make the difference as he did against both Australia and Germany. Even Toni up top wasn't as talented as either Rooney or Owen, but he was a fine spearhead for the team to hold it up for Totti and was coming off the season of his life with 31 goals in Serie A. It was such a complementary team were so many strengths were maximised brilliantly by Lippi. You can look at every player in the team and see the key tactical function they had. If England had a capable manager like Lippi who maximized his squad strength they would have Won Something. |

David Silva 282 matches 83assist Lampard 609 matches 102assist.
Ahead by 19assist with Silva playing 300+ less games. Don't ever mention his assist record to hype him their was not exceptional about them. ...... |

raumdeuter: Because they are not world class. They were just media hypes They were definitely world class what they lacked was balance which a good coach would have brought into the team. I think you have to look at the unit as a whole. A40: When a team is useless it would make a good coach look bad.
I have listed 5-8 coaches who are no better than Capello or Eriksson that were able to lead their teams who aren't nearly as talented as you would like us to believe the English were to trophies.
Even if Guardiola coached such a mediocre side he would fail. Coach not magician How can a team that is stacked with arguably 5 to 7 world class players be useless. The failure of that golden generation is down to the Coaches nothing will change that. If you are not biased you will see that. |
