Boss, Werner is just 23. He has 55 league goals in 96 games for Leipzig. He has 10 goals in 25 games for the German senior side. He won the Confederations Cup in 2017, contributing three goals. He's also quite fast and can finish well. He had a poor World Cup, but so did the entire German team.

Average he is not. Don't repeat this outside. And yes, I have actually watched him play.
Werner is like a carbon copy of rashford. Definition of a proper pace merchant.Maybe not average but not world class. He is just an ok player

If we want for Werner after that his 16/17 season, when he scored 21 goals (7 assists) in 31 matches, tthen I would have agreed with you but If you look at Werner since that season, he has scored just 27 goals in 58 games (13 assists) Had Werner continued his goalscoring form from the 16/17 season onwards then he would have been a good buy but, given how his form has dropped in the last two seasons (not only for RB Leipzeg but also for Germany) Then we are better off without him. If we are signing a CF, at least we should sign a world class one.

Giorgio Chiellini with an ACL tear. Out for the rest of the season.

Timo Werner scores his first BuLi hat trick. Abeg, can we give Leipzig like 80 or 90m plus Batshuayi for this guy? That's the CF issue solved.

Leon Bailey, Wilfried Zaha, Ousmane Dembele, Federico Chiesa, Justin Kluivert, Domenico Berardi, even Kingsley Coman. Pick at least one or two from here to add to the duo of Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Daniele Rugani, Dayot Upamecano, Alessio Romagnoli, Diogo Liete (Portuguese defender, plays for Porto). At least one to add to the duo of Christensen and Rudiger.

Ben Chilwell and Max Aarons if possible.

Keep Azpilicueta, Giroud, Barkley, Jorginho, even Willy and of course Kante as the older hands.

Guys, I know football isn't FIFA or Football Manager. So you can give pointers as to where I could've done better.
Timo werner is average. Tammy is not far off

Upamecano and Romagnoli will be a dream. Romagnoli is better than any Centre back we have currently.

Sell odoi to Bayern get Zaha and berardi, if possible Coman but his injury record is a problem if not he is a brilliant player.

Why don't you follow the research of the geneticists, biologists, physicists around the world, who are part of the Project 2045?

At least common sense should tell you that we, homo sapiens, will not be here forever, just like earlier species became extinct.

Only a fool will not know that scientists will one day create man. Look at advances made in robotics, stem cell technology, genetics.
It's fascinating but not realistic. It's remarkable that someone will even try it. Its one thing to create a machine that walks like a dog, swim like a fish etc but it is impossible to recreate something that has billions of years of evolution behind it. Programming of all the natural instinct of an human into a machine will be impossible.

It all starts and Ends with Berlu. Hate is such a strong word for the Figurehead in charge of our most succesful period ever however, I dislike Him for not having the guts to sell up much earlier. Any true Milan Fan will tell you that by the late noughties, Silvio had lost all interest in Milan due to various off the field problems. But alas my man decided to hold on for almost a decade. Unforgiveable in my books.
Berlusconi always believed he's some of football genius when in reality he had the football brain of a 15 year old playing football manager. AC Milan could have easily been the biggest club in the world right now if they capitalized on their huge global popularity and success.

They were even more popular than Manchester United in the mid-2000's...

They never worked on their brand like other clubs did, because they never needed to thanks to Berlusconi's money. Hence why as soon as Berlusconi stopped spending, they declined massively.

Despite the number of world class players they boasted, they hardly won many trophies. Of course they went to 3 Champions League finals in 4 years but their league trophies during that period diminish their status as a great side.
Ancelotti's Milan tended to thrive in the big games and I don't think Milan cared much about the league back then it was all about catching Madrid record. If not for complacency against Liverpool and Deportivo, you'd probably be looking at a side that would have won four European Cups out of five.

A freak result can happen anytime. A freak result is anything that cannot be duplicated given the same circumstance.

Was it not in a CL final that Liverpool with Dudek Finan Djimi Traore and Carragher, attack of Djibril Cisse, Baros equalized 3-0 to 3-3 within 6mins and beat an attack of Sheva, Kaka and Crespo? plus Maldini Stam, Pirlo Nesta Cafu Seedorf

Look at Milan lineup in 2005 and Liverpool if the game ended 8-0 in favor of Milan, No one will argue.. Of the Milan lineup, almost 7 of them are talked about as the best in their positions over time, How many of those Liverpool players were considered best in their position even within the EPL that season?

Germany smashed Brazil at home 7-1 in a world cup semi, yet the same Germany struggled vs Algeria. I dont think Germany were 7-1 better than Brazil and the game played the next day the result wont be same, Just like I dont think an attack of Shaqiri and Origi were 4-0 better than Messi-Suarez attack
Just like Fulham beat Juventus 4-1 in a Europa semi
I can bet on Capello Milan to beat that Barca side again my friend. If you knew how dominate their defensive approach was you will know Barca could play for 10hrs straight and won't sniff a goal while Milan will pick them apart on the counter with ease but I agree with your point but I wouldn't call it a freak result. You are not giving them any respect.

Greatest shock possibly in UEFA Champs League final history.

Baresi and Costacurta suspended.

Papin, Brian Laudrup could not play because of the 3 foreigner limit rule.

Lentini not recovered from his horrific car accident. He never did fully recover anyway.

Van Basten also injured and to retire I believe at the end of that season.

Then on the Barca side Cruyff deciding not to field Michael Laudrup cos of the same 3 foreigner limit rule.
Milan dominated close to three decades in world football. Sacchi/Capello's Milan in the late '80s and early '90s - Ancelotti's Milan in the mid 2000s. People could make a case for Van gaal ajax or pep barca but in my opinion no team has dominated like Milan. It's a shame what Milan has turned to in recent years.

In 1 match everything can go wrong. And we can have freak results, that result does not mean Milan was 4-0 better than Barcelona

Decades from now people will write about how Liverpool featuring Origi and Shaqiri in attack smashed a Barcelona with Messi, Suarez and Coutinho and some will argue that an attack of Shaq Origi was better than Suarez Messi
Agreed but I disagree on it being a freak result. Freak results don't happen in an European final. It was a tactical masterclass from Capello. Desailly was immense in that match. Another problem maybe fatigue,Milan won Seria A 20 days before the final and rested their players in the last league games. Barca won the La Liga title only three days before the final.

Season 93/94. Capello was the coach then.

They scored 36 and conceded 15 goals. grin Yet they beat Barca 4-0 in UCL final. grin
That was a Barca side consisting of koeman,Romario and Stoichkov. Barca were playing the sexy football and were definitely favourites going into the match. Meanwhile Milan were also severely weakened for the final as van basten, baresi, brian laudrup, costacurta, and JP papin couldn't play.
Yet, they annihilated barca in probably the most dominant final performance of the Champions league Era.

That was the work of Fabio Capello. One of the reasons why i don’t really like him, too negative.

He bought a world class central defender like Desailly and put in defensive midfield to play in front of a defence that was already probably the greatest ever seen. At the same time benching flair/attacking players like Savicevic, Gullit etc that he considered defensive liabilities.

They didn’t score goals but they didn’t concede either. About 10 teams scored more than them, yet they won the league.
That Milan team was an absolute juggernaut. They were the best defensive side I’ve ever seen. Tassotti, Costacurta, Baresi and Maldini at the back. Albertini and Rijkaard shielding the defence. They were impossible to break down. Gullit, Van Basten, Donadoni and Massaro had the quality to score and usually one was enough. Rossi was such an average keeper but he didn’t need to be any better.

Gullit is a player I feel the passage of time has been less kind to. He has been forgotten.
At the time, Gullit was seen as the best between basten and rijkaard He captained the Dutch to win Euro 88 and was very much the marquee player in that team. Van Basten was a better player (an incredible goal scorer) but Gullit usually had the limelight in that era. Van Basten wasn’t even first choice for the Dutch in Euro 88 where Johnny Bosman was planned to be their starting striker.

Serie A between the mid 80s and the mid 90s was ridiculously good and financially unsustainable. Nearly every single club in it had 1-2 World class players. At one point it bordered to the ridiculous were top players like Hagi and Maradona would leave top clubs like Barcelona and Real to join minion clubs like Brescia and Napoli. Seria A then was ridiculous.
I think A.c Milan once won the league scoring just 36goals lol.
It's truly Amazing how Milan once had a team with 5 all-time greats — Van Basten, Gullit (a bit of a stretch as his competitors in the all-time pool are literally the greatest, but he was such a unique player), Rijkaard, Baresi and Maldini.

The issue is Would C.ronaldo have achieved what he did during Ronaldos time and vice versa. I am not sure whether C.ronaldo would have been able to handle the sheer amount of fouls and the physicality of football. De Lima Ronaldo bossed Seria A when it had a huge reputation for amazing defenders. CR7 has scored a bag full of goals but mostly against not that good opposition in Spain and Madrid and barac dominated the league for over 10 years, taken all the money share and this helped them build teams around them. De Lima Ronaldo would have thrived in this environment and i reckon he would of scored even more goals than he did.

Well since Del Piero is ahead on goals and Totti ahead on assists. Ojoro don cancel

Player of the Year is your normal polling booth award and you know how I feel about polling booth awards.

The koko is when they both faced the big boys of Europe

Del Piero 90 apps 42 goals, a CL title and a CL Golden Boot. Tell me what Totti achieved
Totti’s career can be split into two parts, before ankle injury (1993-2005) and after injury (2006-2017). He clearly was never the same player after, he changed from a world class 10 into a good forward.

Totti From 2000-2004 was as good as any other player on the planet. Madrid went for him twice but he refused. Del Piero at his best was nearly as good as Ronaldo. Totti was right up there with Zidane and Dinho during those period. Del Piero was simply not as gifted, nor was his peak anywhere near as long, as Totti's.
He was a star man in vastly superior sides though. Totti carried Roma to a league title in 2001, and came within only 1 point of Juventus in 2002. Then he carried a relatively poor Roma side to another title challenge in 2004. This was around the time when Serie A was arguably the best league in the world.

The one big criticism of Totti was his inconsistent international career even at that he is still a superior player to Del piero who was lucky to have played in a world class team

It is easier to shine when you're the big fish in a small pond. Who knows what Fabregas's career would look like had he never left Arsenal.

You mention team quality but it is players like Del Piero that provided that quality. It's not coincidental that his peak saw Juve as the strongest team in Elite Europe
Over the course of the respective careers Totti is the better player, there's really no argument otherwise worth even considering
Del Piero in his best season though(97/98) was better than Totti at any point in his career. Though having said that, Del Piero was most likely Doped up to his eyeballs that season.

Let's not forget that in that period Juventus was accused of using drugs. juventus were pumping their players full of PEDs in that period. PEDs that were mostly legal at the time(due to being new). No wonder del piero became a shadow of himself.
It almost certainly contributed to his injury and was likely the main reason why he went 3 years looking like a shade of himself afterwards.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Kimbeast: 12:01am On Aug 28, 2019

I disagree. Del Piero was much more than a goalscorer. Maybe you have forgotten Del Piero was Baggio's replacement at Juve.

It's easier to be more instrumental when you're a big fish in a small pond. Like saying Harry Kane is more influential for Tottenham or Riyad Mahrez more influential at Leicester. Put them in bigger teams and their influence will obviously wane.

Don't confuse evolution for lack of ability. At Juve each time he was asked to create he almost always led his teams in assists. Del Piero could do it all.

And frankly his peak was higher than anything Totti did at club or country level.

At Roma Totti was his team's primary penalty kicker. Plus he had lengthy spells were he was pretty much a striker. For the Azzuri I don't know what's impressive about 9 goals in 58 appearances
Totti was never able to replicate his form with Roma with Italy. To be fair Del Piero struggled in that respect too (although he scored much more goals - 27 in 97 games).

Totti was good at Euro 2000 and at World Cup 2006. Didn't do a lot inbetween, but an important role in reaching the final of one tournament and winning another isn't a bad international record.

Both were amazing players and the difference between them is very slim, but I have to go for Totti.
In both their primes, Del Piero was probably a bit better. However, after his injury in the late 90's, Del Piero was never quite the same player.
Totti is superior due to the fact that he's overall a better player and he's more of an asset to a team. He was far more versatile and could play as a striker, second striker, attacking midfielder, and he was world class in all the positions he played in. Totti was also a much better passer and physically stronger.
Del Piero has won more titles, but he has also played with a far better team.
