Did you understand the write up at all? It never said its the most dangerous because of the amount of lives it has taken, rather its the most dangerous because it doesn't look dangerous when looking at it ordinarily.
It has very innocent feel as just a common narrow piece of water body. However it looks very innocent(ordinary) yet dangerous.

In all having high-rise building is never a sign of wealth or modernity. New York state and Ilinoise has more high-rise buildings than California, but none is as wealthy as California.

Many here are just listing 1 or 2, but I can give them 10 off my head from PH.

No state has up to that amount compared to PH bar Lagos.

Its not a matter of having one, but having up to 10 or 20 of it.

I repeat no state besides lagos has more buildings 10 stories and above than Rivers.

Rainbow Town alone has over 5 buildings that are 10 story and above

I don't know about their politics but I know that the APC is too divided to win the State.

All politics is local and with Amaechi in Abuja, with no strong person at the homefront....I don't think he will get a headway.

APC in Rivers knows that naturally they have no political value. However they always believe that being in charge at the centre will help them clinch Rivers. However to do that they need to settle their squabbles in Rivers and bring in a candidate that all factions of APC in Rivers will agree on. Once they do that and if they are still united and strong at the national level then Rivers is done deal.

Wike has failed in so many areas of governance.

Something tells me this as well, though I think there are 2 things involve. If APC can put their house in order both at the state and national level then Rivers will be a walk over.
Wike has really destroyed PDP in Rivers by his actions. Bringing tribalism and favouritism to governance in Rivers State has really reduced the rating of PDP in Rivers.

Governor Nyesom Wike has shocked many bigwigs of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP with the release of names of candidates for the Rivers April 2021 local government election,

In the list, a former leader and three times member of the Rivers State House Assembly, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, was chosen as the chairmanship candidate for Emuoha Local Government.

The emergence of Lloyd who was until recently, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, and an ally of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Transportation Minister was one of the shocking outcomes in the list of candidates for Rivers LG election released yesterday.

Llyod will contest to replace Tom Aliezi, the incumbent PDP Chairman of Emohua local Government council.

Aliezi was allegedly impeached by his councillors earlier yesterday.

The emergence of Lloyd as Chairmanship candidate of his local government has sent tongues wagging in political circles in state.

Some political analysts have argued that joining the chairmanship race is belittling for the former leader of Rivers House of Assembly.

It was, however, believed that Lloyd and the other candidates were carefully chosen by Wike as a way of positioning his trusted allies in strategic positions, especially at the grassroots ahead of the 2023 election.

While the former loyalist of Amaechi has now emerged as a chairman candidate few months after he dumped his former party and declared his loyalty to Wike, other top PDP big shots’ candidates failed to secure the chairmanship ticket.

Top politicians whose preferred candidates could not surprisingly secure spot on the LGA election ballot include Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of PDP, and Tele Ikuru, his cousin who is also the immediate past deputy governor of Rivers.

Their preferred candidate who is the incumbent chairman for Andoni local government, Paul Lawrence, lost out to Erastus Awortu.

Desmond Akawor, the State Chairman of PDP (his chairmanship is now subject of litigation), could not influence a second term ticket for his loyalist, Gerald Oforji, the incumbent Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government.

Another upset was the inability of Samuel Nwanosike, the incumbent Chairman of Ikwerre local government Council to obtain a second term ticket against the wishes of former Governor Celestine Omehia.

Besides being a trusted ally of Wike, Nwanosike was also said to have performed relatively well when compared with his counterparts in other councils, hence the favourable disposition of the Governor to his return as chairman of the council.

The incumbent chairman of Khana LGA Lahteh Loolo also failed to clinch second term ticket, as Commissioner for Special Duties, Thomas Bariere got the nod to contest to replace him.

In Wike’s Obio-Akpor local government Council, the incumbent Chairman, Ben Abel Ekeh lost the ticket to George Ariolu, a lawyer.

For Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Chairman, Ifeanyi Odili failed to secure second tenure ticket. The ticket went to Vincent Job Nwaobakata from Omoku.

Hon. Confidence Dekoo will also replace Hon. Paul Kobani on the ballot as PDP’s chairmanship candidate for Gokana.

In the same vein, Hon. Okpe Friday will replace Jacobson Nbina on the ticket as the chairmanship candidate of Tai LGA.

However, Hope Ikiriko, the incumbent Chairman of Ahoada West received green light to return for second tenure.

The return of Ikiriko to the Council and who was a three-time member of the House of Assembly is a surprise to many because he had been having a running battle with people of his council area over allegation of nonperformance.

Wike on the beat. Don't know why most Nigerians are not educated on our political system and hierarchy.
A state local government chairman is higher than a state House of assembly member.
An LGA chairman is just like the governor of that LGA, while most state House of assembly members represent just a section of the LGA.

Same way state governors are higher than National assembly members aka seantors and House of rep.

That said, I see nothing wrong in Chidi Lloyd going for chairmanship position, however he decamping and given the ticket is a slap to PDP loyalists that have been loyal to PDP even when Chidi Lloyd was fighting for Amaechi.

Don't know how I stumbled on this thread but I'll never forget this day. In 2017, a 2 year old was rushed to the hospital.
I admitted him and started medications only for me to be called by the nurses that the child in the ward was unresponsive.

I did everything I could to resuscitate him but to no avail. The mother trusted me and was very certain I can handle her son's case. She wept on my feet after I told her that her son is gone.

I felt I could have done something extra, something extra human to save his life. I went to the consulting room and wept, I couldn't eat all day and couldn't continue work for that day.

No death has ever touched me like that boy. Till date seeing kids makes me remember that child.
