When the Rivers State was created in 1967, East Central State was created too. I was born and raised in the neighborhood of Obigbo and it was never a part of Rivers State until the 1976 draconian boundary adjustment. Obigbo and Umuagbayi were integral part of Asa County Council and later Ukwa Division then LGA. Before the Nigeria\Biafra war, Obigbo did not have central school. Anybody from Kom-kom, Obigbo, Obuzor and even Owaza had to come to IPU Central School, Imo River to take examination for first school leaving certificate.
