Imagine Ghana dey claim say na dem get Jollof Rice... Why?.. We no publicise am... Why dem no go claim Macaroni or Pizza Of course no bad blood. But I can tell the op does not know that majority of his slangs are just within his region and not Nigeria in general. |

Yet you claim its a popular Nigerian slang. I guess Niger Delta is now part of Cameron. Go read your post again, especially your last sentence where you said soro soke is a popular slang all over Nigeria

Balogunodua: Cry me a River... tell me any slangs from the East that is more popular than soro soke? Before you start typing trash...you don't have to be a tribalist about everything...from Jo's to Kaduna to Niger to Kebbi...Ko por Ke is very popular..same as Gbese...not to talk of Soro soke that is very popular all over Nigeria. Na u and your household know wetin b Soro soke and ko por ke. Not in my area of the Niger. I mean the SS. As per soro soke its not that we never heard it, afterall we saw it on TV during the protests in Lagos. But no one down here used that or even refer to it. As for Ko por ke this is the first time I'm hearing that in my life. |

Temas: Again the earth doesn't use 24 hours to complete a rotation on its axis. Infact, the approximate time is said to be 23hrs 56minutes and fees seconds. We rounded it up to 24hrs just to make the maths easier. However, using the 24hrs metric, we overshot the real natural calender. This is the reason we have to reset it every four years. " The leap year" We all know that. Thats the reason for the 1/4 or leap year. However while explaining to people that have no idea you make it simple. |

mike8804: I have a question: is the earth rotating or the sun rotating? Assuming the earth, is it not logical that everything on earth including ocean, trees, humans, countries rotating with it....example if the earth is rotating, Nigeria should be in position of Canada and maybe Ghana in Russia.
but if the sun is rotating around the earth I think is more logical to explain time difference... just thinking wide The earth rotates horizontally not vertically on its axis, while rotating it revolves around the sun. Rotation causes day and night while revolution causes year. The earth uses 24hrs to make a complete rotation, while it uses 365days or 366 days to revolve round the sun. The sun does not rotate, rather the earth does. |

Agbeni33: Hey guys,
Can we throw more light on this topic.
Why do countries all over the world have different time zone?
For instance, the difference between Nigeria and UK time is just like 2 hours.
Nigerian and Canada time is like 6 to 7 hours difference. So the question is what is the rationale behind this time perspective? Na wah oo. This one too na question? Have you heard of Longitude and Latitude before? Countries in same longitude will be on same time zone(this is bar political and economic reason, simply geographic), while countries in same latitude have similar climate(this is not always the case though). As for the earth being spherical and rotates leading to day and night, I think many on this thread have done justice to that. |
