SportsAfrica Under-represented At World Cup - Blatter by king100(op): 8:43pm On Oct 26, 2013
Fifa president Sepp Blatter wants more places at the World Cup for African and Asian countries.
For the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Europe has 13 places in the finals, African has five and Asian has four.
"This flawed state of affairs must be rectified," Blatter wrote in the governing body's new weekly magazine.
"Africa, the confederation with the most member associations (54), is woefully under-represented at the World Cup."
He added: "As long as this remains the case African sides may never win an intercontinental trophy, regardless of progress on the playing side.
"From a purely sporting perspective I would like to see globalization finally taken seriously and the African and Asian national associations accorded the status they deserve at the Fifa World Cup.
"It cannot be that the European and South American confederations lay claim to the majority of the berths at the World Cup (18 or 19 teams) because taken together they account for significantly fewer member associations (63) than Africa and Asia (100).
"At the end of the day an equal chance for all is the paramount imperative of elite sport."

acorn tree: These jobs u mention above are not meant for engineers they are for technician. Why go and spend 5yrs in a uni to end up as an electrician or engine repairer
That is the problem of Nigerian graduates, always looking for one unproductive office to seat down and start commanding. How many Nigerian graduates can do house wiring.Man! education is more than papers you obtained as certificates.

A good deed has paid off for a homeless man who found a backpack with £26,000 inside and handed it in to the police.

One online fundraiser who had never met Glen James before has raised £62,000 ($100,500) after the noble act landed the Good Samaritan in the spotlight.

Glen, who is said to be in his mid-fifties, found the bag with $42,000 inside - $2,400 in cash and $39,500 in travelers checks - in front of a TJ Maxx store in his native city Boston on Saturday evening.
[Selfless paralysed man gives up chance to walk again - by donating £20,000 to disabled five-year-old]

He immediately took it to police officers patrolling the area and gave them his name and location of the homeless shelter where he lives. The bag was returned to its owner.

When Ethan Whittington, 27, from Virginia, heard the story he was so moved by Glen's act of honesty he decided to set up a fundraiser on the online donation site GoFundMe to help him.

The accounts manager wrote on the page description: "Lets all chip in and help this man change his life. Every little donation helps."

But he was astounded when news of Glen's good deed spread and donations poured in - exceeding his target of $50,000 (£31,000) in just one day.

Since then hundreds more donations have flooded in and wellwishers have even offered computers and free dental work for Glen to help him get back on his feet.

Glen, who has been homeless since 2005, is said to be overwhelmed by the support from complete strangers.

He has been honoured by Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis and given a special citation for his good deed.

Fundraiser Ethan told NBC: "It was awesome. To do something for somebody and you don't even know them, and you see pictures of them, you hear great things about them, and then to finally get to talk to them, is great.

"He was saying thank you, but the biggest thing I was trying to convey to him is he didn't have to thank us, we were thanking him."

Ethan has also assured wellwishers the entire fund will be transferred to Glen, who has now been able to open a bank account.

Segeggs: Petrol stations, pharmacies, supermarkets, boutiques etc are always clean but it beats my imagination how places where fresh food are sold in Nigeria are always dirty; dirty grinders, dirty baskets, dust bin close to wares etc.
The problems in Nigeria emanated from little little things such as the one you just mentioned. How do you rational poverty with dirtiness, because people always think our uncleanness of our environment is caused by poverty, not at all.The bible made us to understand that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.Everything that is not good in Nigeria is embedded in our hearts. We need to change our mind in the ways we look at things.

You don't need spend more years going back to the same educational system that thought rote learning without even knowing what the essence of learning it.That is problem with Nigerian system of education. If you have access to Internet there are many resources where you learn anything you want, even far better than all what all your teachers/lecturers acquired in their entire life.Self development is all what you need not paper qualifications.Develop yourself to the point you become a potential qualification without your paper qualifications.Invest in what you passionate about and be focused in no far time ,with God on your side,I see you at the top.

SportsChampionship - Brighton Sack Poyet While He's On Match Of The Day by king100(op): 10:58pm On Jun 23, 2013
The Uruguayan was working as an analyst on the BBC's Match of the Day live coverage of the Confederations Cup match between Spain and Nigeria.
During the first-half of that game, Brighton released a statement on their website saying: "Gus Poyet has been informed today by Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club's internal disciplinary panel that his employment has been terminated with immediate effect."
However, Poyet only learned about the sacking when a member of the BBC production staff handed him a print out of the statement.
"You've got yourself a great story," Poyet told BBC presenter Mark Chapman when asked about the issue.
"I've still had no communication from the club, no text, no email.
"I'm probably the first to be in this position. Everyone can make their own conclusions about the way I have been informed by you.
"I suppose reading the statement I will be able to talk to them. It's very sad, they made me proud. Not being able to answer a phone or text is unusual.
"Are they messing with my career? We will see, it's too early to say. I am looking forward to clearing this."
Former Chelsea midfielder Poyet, 45, was initially suspended and now has the opportunity to appeal the decision to sack him despite the club saying they are looking for an interim manager for pre-season.
Brighton's statement continued: "Poyet's sacking followed his suspension, an investigation, and a subsequent formal disciplinary process. In line with the club's own procedures, and UK employment law, Mr Poyet now has a right of appeal. As such, the club will make no further comment on this matter or recent LMA statements at this time.
"Given the close proximity of the new season, the club will, in conjunction with its board, now seek to appoint an interim manager pending the outcome of a possible appeal. The interim manager will oversee the initial weeks of pre-season preparation alongside the club's existing staff.
"The club's first-team players report back as planned for pre-season testing tomorrow, Monday 24th June, with the squad's first technical sessions commencing on Thursday 27th June. The team play Whitehawk on Saturday 6th July and leave for their summer training camp in Spain on 14th July."
Poyet told the BBC that he would appeal the decision but said he could not go into specifics for legal reasons.http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/championship-gus-poyet-sacked-brighton-190508374.html

CareerRe: Are Technicians Better Than Engineers In Nigeria? by king100(m): 1:22pm On Jan 09, 2013
1.Engineers rely more on the theories of their sciences while technicians focus more on its practical application.
2.Engineers are the problem solvers while technicians are the actual doers.
3.Although not applicable to all situations, the engineers are those who have obtained a degree which often requires a four-year course while technicians only need a shorter diploma course and additional training.
4.Because of the level of education, engineers are often better paid than technicians.

salomn: I stay in Sangotedo Lekki area of lagos and work in Lekki Phase1.

I am married with a kid now. Wife is not working.I notice that i do spend atleast N80k and above monthly for the upkeep of the family despite the fact that i dont engage in buying fancy things like clothes, shoes, going to clubs, drinking joints etc.

My expenses centers on feeding, transport fare and extraneous household expenses for three of us.At the end of the month,my expenses will be running atleast 80k and above, atimes it will hit up to 100k,thereby finding it difficult to have savings.

Please am i extravagant and how can i manage spending lower if possible?,how do you manage your monthly expenses pls?
What I can say on this issue is that (1)You need to sit down with your wife and discuss ur finances.(2)You need to let your wife have something doing even if it is a petty trading-let her also brings something to the table.Let assume you do not leave beyond your means like what some do, I think you should be able save something at the of every month.Watch out for ur extraneous household expenses.Wish you the best
