No cable. I use IPTV service and stream any channel i want to watch.

When i see people list all that stuff, I just wonder sha.

Add just basic cable
Add phone with unlimited internet
Add faster internet service and recalculate

Apart from $800 grocery most cad bills are reasonable

Now this is more realistic. One thing that is still affordable in the west is food. Especially if you buy in bulk.

I see people listing $400-500 for phone bills. What kind of plans are they buying? Why not get a phone out rightly?

Funny.... I doubt anyone who ones a private jet has it registed directly under their name or under Nigeria. If the tax is too much they will register it in other African countries and it becomes a foreign plane not subject to tax

None of us are privy to the details of the merger, so all we're doing is speculating!

Could it be that Diamond Bank is actually distressed? Possibly! But it could also be nothing more than a merger between the two banks to create Nigerias' largest commercial bank! The issue i had with some on this thread was how they zeroed in on just one possibility and began abusing the MD of Diamond Bank, with some even targeting his ethnicity!

If Access Bank was acquiring Diamond as a distressed bank, they're under no obligation to lie about it! After all, Spring Bank was recently bought by another bank and the facts that it was a distressed bank were laid bare for all!

Diamond Bank closing its foreign UK and African operations could actually be part of deal for the merger to go ahead. After all, why maintain these foreign operations when the bigger bank they're merging with already has bigger and possibly more advanced operations in the UK and West Africa?

It is not a good deal for Diamond bank shares holder.-they have lost a lot of money over the past year. An investment in diamond bank in 2014 would mean before this acquisition you would have lost 94% of your investments.

if you are a non diamond bank share holder..here is how it is a good deal for you---.since diamond bank shares are trading below what access has agreed to buy it.... you buy the shares today and wait till the transaction closes and you get the full price access bank has promised to pay and then you sell off you access bank shares once it closes... thus crystallize your profits

you got the calculation wrong however you got the final recommendation right. The Prof set the interest rate too high and that's why you got the final answer right.(he should have set it low enough for people who calculate it the way you did to also come to a wrong conclusion)

apart from the stereotype this is a very good business 101 question for testing future and present value of money

what it will cost for a single magazine to get a picture of the D&G event.

1. they will hire a photographer(monthly salary + pensionable benefits)
2. They will purchase plane ticket to the various locations fashion shows are holding
3. they will pay for hotel, feeding and all the materials the photographer will require while on location
4. they also suffer the risk that the image the photographer took may not be the best or worse his camera is stolen

add up the cost above vs $300+ (for the best picture available) and tell me if that picture is cheap or expensive

you can see the value proposition getty image presents to those who are looking for images.

no need to hire in-house photographer, no risk of loss as getty image has many photographers on contract and buy the best pictures, no need to cover multiple events as getty image has photographers in many countries at same time..so as a business that picture is cheap

Let me break it down for u D&G did a fashion show and pictures of the fashion show will flood major US and European magazines....people want to see the pictures of the show and so they will buy the magazines....so magazine makes money, who in turn are able to pay the photographer and thus everyone gets paid.

The fact that blogs and Magazines in Nigeria just take images of other peoples work as they please does not mean its right.
