Bro for your spiritual growth stay inclined to gospel music, movies and strictly what the Bible says. Listening to sinners because it seems what their saying is true, which is actually true but those things wont develop your spiritual life but instead awaken you to societal challenges. Christianity Etc › Re: Is Listening To Secular Music or Watching Movie Bad For A Christian? by King44(m): 10:36am On Aug 16, 2020 |
Kobojunkie: You are right and your friend is wrong. God gave us commandments for us to obey. Everything else, He left to each person to decide for himself/herself. Yes, followers of Jesus Christ are free to party all night without it impacting their relationship with God. Yes, God allows us to enjoy all that He has created for us, without limitation. All He asks is that we obey what He has commanded.
In the Old Covenant, He commanded the people not to make any more rules than the one He has given them and not to remove from the rules He has made.
In the New Covenant, Jesus Christ warned us against subscribing to doctrines and rules of men, so that we do not nullify the power of God in our lives by these acts.
** substituted from another Bible translation for a better understanding of what is impacted
Jesus Christ did not say we should not listen to Secular music and He did not limit us in what we can watch as far as movies, so it is up to each individual to decide for themselves based on own preferences. We are made free in Jesus Christ, not shackled as those in the Old Covenant are - God gave commandments on how they should dress, eat, sleep, when they can work, how etc. But in Jesus Christ, we are made free and should not look instead for ways to add chains to our lives, for by doing that, we instead jeopardize the freedom that Jesus Christ died to give us.
We are not to make rules and impose those rules on others pretending we do so in the name of God for God has given no man power to add or remove from that which He and He alone has commanded. Do not let yourself be deceived by religion and do not let religious people fool you with their lies into buying into their rules and traditions, which only serve to push you away from God, not bring you closer to Him. It is wrong, it has been stated in the Bible don't, if you listen to music from the mouth of sinners and you listen to sinners you are also a sinner. A true Christian don't listen to such there are good numbers of gospel music and gospel movies both local and international. If you still find yourself doing secular you've backslide although you were born into Christianity. I am guilty as well. |

Nbotee: There's no difference between most of the Christians of today and the Pharisees in the times of Jesus..... We are more of judgemental Christians than practical Christians. What is wrong in listening to country music which is a "secular" song? What is wrong in listening to some gud old Bob Marley, Lucky Dube or even Celine Dion or Khalid? What is wrong in watching Suits or Game of Thrones? Shld we close our ears wen we hear these songs over the radio or like deeper life of old we shldnt even own television sets ryt? There is nothing wrong with watching secular movies or listening to secular songs. There's a reason why movies have ratings and preview. It is wrong for a good Christian to listen to circular music. It pollutes the mind and draws your closer to sin. |

Dr. Mailafia cannot just wake up and make inciting statements just because he wants to be heard but even at that, it is expected agencies put intel on ground to ascertain the facts. Lives of humans do not know religion or tribe. Let's stop fanning the ember of tribes or religion. Romance › Re: Do I Tell My American Patient He's Being Scammed By A Nigerian Romance Scammer? by King44(m): 11:21pm On Aug 13, 2020 |
ALEX182: So I have this American patient who I recently came across. He's a fat dude who is like in his late 40s but has a very jolly and likeable character. I introduced myself and we got talking afterwards.
After a while of chitchat, he asked me where I was from. I told him to take a guess and he said said, you sound like you're Nigerian. I told him (regrettably) that I was Nigerian. He started smiling and told me that he had a Nigerian girlfriend and that we both had similar accents.
He then started telling me recent occurrences that had befallen his girlfriend in Nigeria. He said the lastest story was that she was in Abuja and as she was on her way to the airport in a taxi, the taxi had an accident and she was seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital. He said that the hospital demanded money before treatment started and he had to hustle about $4000 and send to her in order for treatment to start.
He said that after a week of her being in the hospital, they wanted to discharge her despite her still being in pain. Because she had exhausted all the $4000 on treatment, he said the hospital had threatened to discharge her on the streets and he was trying to borrow more money to see if he could send it to her so they could continue with her treatments.
He furthermore told me that the girlfriend said that she was a Nigerian American citizen who was currently stuck in Nigeria due to her passport having expired and also due to Covid lockdown at airports in Nigeria. He said she had asked him for $300 to renew her US passport from American embassy in Nigeria.
Another thing that he told me was that just before covid struck, there was a similar pandemic which happened in Nigeria early this year and that his girlfriend had contracted the disease and he had to send her $2000 for treatment. Right now he said he's broke but is waiting for like $2000 disability check from the US government next week which he will send to her as soon as the money clears.
As he was telling me this tale, I was so angry with Nigerians and how they take advantage of people in love to scam them. I wanted to swear for the scammers
I'm at a dilemma here. Do I tell him that he's being scammed by Nigerians or do I continue to be professional and just ignore it. Because I don't want him to think I'm involved with it because these oyinbo people can turn everything on your head and accuse you that is your people in conjunction with you that are scamming him. They are that crazy. The good part of me wants to help him but I'm hesitant that it may turn out bad for me. Please matured responses. Tell him but before you start convince him that there a good and bad people and you won't have rendered such help if all are the same, then tell him further that he is being taken advantage of... And see how he reacts |

Are we in the days of Noah or are we in Pakistan? Although most northern Muslim wants Nigeria to be like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan but God won't allow that cos we are in a mess already. Seriously... The north and south shouldn't have been amalgamated.... Purely different ideologies. Even in Mecca where Sharia originated are they stunning themselves to death? Someone should remind me how the sharia has been effective against $$$Gandollar$$$ if this same Gandollar said same thing that guy said I am very sure there would only be uproar and that is all.... Thus Sharia is a law made to oppress only the poor. Nigeria is not an Islamic state but a circular state. |
