im talking statistics

students from those three countries combined outnumber Nigerians
didn't you hear what yourself combined thus there is high influx of students from ng in gh which translate to Nig is the highest contributor foreign funds in your educational economic sector see let's not fool ourselves here you know the truth

the goods like textiles and spare parts or cars that Nigerians import into Ghana from Nigeria
are they made in Nigeria or they come from China ?

yet Ghana is not closing it borders because we have an effective way to tax those products .

there is Togo right becide Ghana
they also have a free port

and Ghana hasn't even complained
You have to make yourself competitive and stop blaming other people.

Nigerians go to the market and decide to buy foreign rice over local ones
no one makes those choices for them.

Today, local rice in Ghana is a big thing because it is cheaper and well polished and taste better
so people buy it, it doesnt mean we dont buy foreign rice.
Nigerians and NG gvt awon toothpick importers shey na hear keep buying foreign and keep killing your own in fact buhari should close the border permanently

amaridigital:
Enough of this miopic view. Ghana stands to loose BIG TIME if your Government wants to play hard ball. As a Study abroad consultant, I can tell you by verifiable statistics.
According to the latest report titled Global Flow of Tertiary Level Students prepared by UNESCO Institute of Statistics, Nigeria is No1 country of origin for foreign students inflow to Ghana. In fact Ghana is No 5 study destination for Nigerian citizens. Exactly 6506 Nigerian students chose Ghana as a study destination in 2018 alone followed by Congo 515 (See the difference)
Now let's talk about inflow of Ghanian students to Nigeria. Zero no record. In fact, Ghanuans prefer to study in Bosnia, Grenada and even Czechia 280 students than in Nigeria. Please cut the crap! Do you know how much over 6500 students from Nigeria brings into the Ghanian economy in US$?
when Nigeria put policy in place to ban students studying in GH we will see who would beg las las

it is not a win for us

it is a win for your country now because Ghana operate an open economy

Your country does not allow cement from Ghana into your Nigeria but Ghana allows cement from Nigeria into Ghana.
so if you continue to block Ghanaian manufacturers from your market, Ghana will also close it consuming market to your manufacturers and re-exporters.

i guess that is fair, isnt it?
see just chill and stop throwing shades las las we will all smile

besides even if they stop dangote cement it won't hurt us it is a private firm not a public or national firm just chill

smuggle goods do not pass through Ghana

as everyone knows, Ghana is an expensive place to live
Ghana tax everything that flys or walk .

so if your government is targetting smuggling, it should look within and fix it problems and stop picking a new problem with a country it cant compete with.
you said we can't compete with them when their economy relies on Nig economy to strive do u even know Nig land mass and population n resources if not for poor management by know we would have bought your country well it is what it is, when we restructure Nig your eye go clear, for that fact that your gvt taxes anything that doesn't stop smuggling from your country to ng it is what the gvt see the gvt would tax what about those things the gvt can't see lol see leave Ng o n their border closure and if your gvt is gullible spark a trade war and we would see where it would land your country a word is enough for the wise

besides if your country stops ng traders from bringing in things it would be a blessing in disguise for the gvt cos Mr buha doesn't support leaving the country when things are hard so when things becomes unbearable they will run back home you see I wonder hour you would hurt a country that is made up of a consuming population if we could get it right it will be a win for your country n a win for us but at the moment it is a win for you and a loss for us

Nig big brother role is killing this country we need to set things right GH just give this admin to do the right thing for once

surgical:
how is it good please explain
the motive is to curb smuggling of fire arms and food products, if Ghana can't strike a deal with the government and prevent smuggling from their on end just like Mexico and America are doing at their borders I don't see Buhari bowing to that threat and at the end would suffer before we start reconsidering opening it, as of the moment we can still absorb anything we produce until we reach a sufficiency level that is when that threat would mean a lil thing but for now if Ghana yield to the trade it would result to a trade war and grudge because as I said the motive is to prevent smuggling n not a trade war, GH gvt should work on preventing anything smuggling from their end n watch how things unravel
