it is sha sure say people who saw them with harms and saw them commit atrocities are not lying... me as a person I am very sure the Fulani herdsmen are capable of such cos I have seen a situation in Abuja where one filani herder led his cows to someone else's farm which should be more than half a plot of land by the road side and gladly let the cows graze on maize that are fully grown and ripe for harvest in broad day light under his supervision... not even concerned if those crops where planted due to severe hunger

if that could happen in a city I wonder what would be happening in villages

Perhaps, the people have to stop being sentimental too. Tribal and religious sentiments, especially, are still major issues in Nigeria.

Before 2015, PDP rode on this issue in an attempt to cover a lot of ground.

The islamization propaganda, especially, was used by PDP to demonize APC even before Buhari became president. The former CAN president also used the gullibility of many Nigerians to return to the country to 1960. PDP became a Christian party with its interest vested in CAN while APC became a Muslim party. Not even when APC presented a pastor as a running mate to the Muslim Buhari did the propaganda die down.

In sane climes, such propaganda would not even fly. But in an overly religious country like Nigeria, everything is possible.

LAGOS – Members of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) have called on the Federal Government to ensure it steps up security in the country to guarantee safety of lives and property of citizens.

The group also commiserated with Chief Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of the Yoruba pan socio-cultural and political organisation, Afenifere, over the gruesome murder of his daughter, Funke Olakunrin.

The AYCF in a statement signed by Mallam Yerima Shettima, its National President, described the dastardly act as very sad, unacceptable and highly condemnable.

It wondered what could have caused the attack on such an innocent woman, who just earlier visited her old father at home to extend her care to her parent.

It also said that there was the need to put all hands on deck to secure the country for the benefit of the citizens.

The group, which challenged the government to ensure that the culprits are fished out and punished, assured President Muhammadu Buhari of “members’ readiness to assist his administration in its quest to find a lasting solution to the security challenges in the country.”

It said it was high time Nigerians, irrespective of their religious differences, political lineage, social status or ethnic diversities come together to put an end to the incessant threats to the security of lives and property in the country.

Yes, we should hold them responsible. But how can we if we are blinded with hate?

It is one thing to hate somebody, it is another thing to hate something about somebody. How can someone hate Buhari for underperforming but had and still has no grudges for our past leaders who underperformed?

To criticise, you must be sincere. Your criticism must have a basis. If hate is the basis, then at the back of your mind, you won't even want the person you are criticising to succeed.

President Muhammadu Buhari has replied former President Olusegun Obasanjo who accused him of not doing enough to address the high level of insecurity in the country.

In an open letter on Monday, Obasanjo criticised Buhari’s government, saying the killings could not be swept under the carpet.

But speaking with national executives of the Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO) at Aso Rock on Tuesday, the president, who did not specifically mention Obasanjo’s name, said those criticising the “isolated cases” of insecurity in the country are not patriotic.

Ive written before and said if OPC field candidates for elective office, we will consider them as prime choice for our interests and needs.

A governor does not come in with knowledge of how to govern, they learn in office. This is why we sorround them with technocrats who are skilled in processes.

An OPC candidate does not need to know how to govern. He will learn it, sorrounded by core conservatists. We need to take our position as the number 1 in Nigeria.
Arewa must bow to Yoruba, and i dont see that happening under the administration of effeminate leaders who are incapable of giving resounding counter-statements to the propaganda from North.

Yoruba need to form its own Ulamah and appoint a head of Islamic faith. Afterall we did not get Islam from dan fodio...so why do we follow behind his descendants?

Yoruba needs to regain access and authority over ports in SW. No Arewa will ever sit as the headman of any ports in SW. No Yoruba has ever been a FCT Minister because Arewa considers Abuja as its domain even though its national territory. Likewise SW ports are our domains and no Arewa should head it.

These and many more issues are impossible to achieve under current set of follow follow governors.

OPC should take me serious. Field candidates for us to vote, beginning in Ondo's next election. Bring a candidate to compete with Akeredolu. One by one we will push these guys aside and install OPC so we can get our land back.
I support this idea, anything to chase those Judas Iscariot out of SW back to where they came from

PoliticsRe: Why South-West Governors Are 'Helpless' On Security Situation In The Region by King44(m): 3:28pm On Jul 16, 2019
fergie001:
Facts have emerged on the rationale behind the lukewarm disposition of governors in the South-West geo-political zone towards the damning security challenges in the region, especially the aggression of suspected herdsmen.

DAILY POST gathered through investigation that governors in the zone might not take any definite step in response to criminality going on in their domains mainly because of covert political considerations and interests.

A reliable source in the region, who did not want to be quoted revealed that the consensus among the governors in the South West on the need to play to the gallery and tactically put any decisive action on hold was predicated on the political predicament of the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose.

It was learnt that majority of Northern political elites were seriously embittered in the manner in which Fayose stood his ground against open grazing in the state and the attendant security arrangement put in place to enforce the law against the act of moving cattle around.

“President Muhammadu Buhari and his fellow Fulani elite considered Fayose’s courage and resistance against open grazing in Ekiti then as an affront to their ethnic and economic interest. They also nurtured the fear that such decisive action could raise the consciousness of other governors in the South against Fulani herdsmen.

” That was the main reason the presidency gave massive supports to Governor Kayode Fayemi against Fayose’s anointed candidate, with huge resources and state apparatus. Let me tell you this, there is no way Fayose could have won that election for Eleka, the battle was beyond him, he was unknowingly battling with a strong political bloc led by the presidency.

“The victory of this cabal in Ekiti apparently sent a profound warning to governors in the region with regards to the issue of Fulani herdsmen and their incessant criminal activities. The governors get security reports on daily basis on the degenerated security situation in their states. There were suggestions from stakeholders in the region on better ways to tackle the menace, but these governors will continue to play politics and do nothing about it”.

Tinubu’s 2023 ambition as a factor

While the former governor of Lagos State and National leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Hameed Tinubu has not come out clearly to confirm his interest to contest for president in 2023, he has rather not outrightly denied the perception in different quarters that he is scheming and scrambling to become Nigeria’s first citizen.

Meanwhile, a member of inner caucus of APC, who is also a leading strategist for the party in Ogun State confided in our correspondent on
condition of anonymity and disclosed that Tinubu is more than desperate to succeed Buhari in 2023.

He added that Tinubu, having realised the intensity of support Buhari enjoys in the core North, coupled with the voting strength of the region and the culture of power of incumbency in Nigeria, he considered the President as a major determinant in realising his presidential ambition.

The source confirmed that the former Lagos State governor met with the five APC governors from the region immediately after May 29 to warn them against any activity that could jeopardize his existing relationship with President Buhari.

According to the source, Tinubu specifically mentioned the issue of Fulani activities in the South West and said the President is highly interested in the ” welfare of his kinsmen and would not be happy if any unwholesome thing happens to them and their cattle “.
He further revealed that despite the concerns raised by some of the governors over the alarming rate of insecurity in their states and the consistent allegations against herders of Fulani extraction, the consensus reached was that there is need to step down action on the issue and play along.

Allegations on RUGA funds

Another factor DAILY POST learnt was responsible for silence and inaction of governors of the South West is that the Federal government had indeed mobilised them with millions of dollars in preparation for the implementation of “autonomous Fulani settlements” popularly known as RUGA in the region.

The Executive Director of Gateway Tower, a socio-cultural organisation in Ogun State, Comrade Olabode Adigun said there were indications that governors from the South West have been compromised with huge amount of money to acquire expanse of lands in their domains for the implementation of RUGA.

“We authoritatively gathered that the idea of RUGA has been on for a long time and that the major target of the presidency and some Northern elite is the South West because of its forest belt nature and relative stability in the region.

“In a desperate move to protect his kinsmen and aid their expansionist tendencies, President Buhari had contacted a leading member of APC, who is from the region to make this possible and through him settled the governors.

“The public outcry against the idea, however, halted the plan, although that would still not make them to act and flush out killer herdsmen in their states”, Adigun said.

South-West security summit, a ruse?

A civil society organisation, Advocacy for Advancement of Peace and Harmony in Africa Initiative, ADAPHAI has described a security summit organised by South West governors between June 25 and 26 as nothing but a jamboree and “a mere window dressing of insignificant prognosis “.

The National Coordinator of the organisation, Comrade Sulaimon Suberu in a chat with our Correspondent dismissed the summit as an assemblage of clowns and pretenders, who have no intention to do anything concerning the present threat posed by suspected Fulani herders to the region other than playing politics.

He maintained that the present security challenges facing the region have gone beyond rhetorics but a proactive measure to put an immediate stop to this scourge and protect the people and the region, saying governors of the region are not doing enough.

Suberu alleged that there is a conspiracy between the Buhari – led administration and governors in the zone, which according to him made them to move with a speed of snail and remain insensitive to the plights of the common people.

“I was not surprised with what Bola Tinubu said recently in Ondo during his visit to Pa Fasoranti over his daughter’s death in the hands of suspected Fulani herdsmen, where he was quoted defending Fulani herdsmen with a lame polemics.

“I know for sure that his host, governor Rotimi Akeredolu must have hinted him on how Fulani herdsmen held his convoy to ransom for close to 45 minutes along Ilesa-Akure road but decided to say what his friends and cohorts wanted to hear in Aso rock, I really pity the region for celebrating character like this as leader.

“It was the former Prime Minister of Philippines, Gloria Aroyo, who once said that one of the greatest litmus test of a good leader is ability to be at the forefront leading, at the middle inspiring, and at the back defending the interest of his followers, but in this case, the reverse is the case “.

Meanwhile, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, who also doubles as the head of Odua People’s Congress, Iba Gani Adams has exposed the hypocrisy of South West governors during the said security summit.

He flayed them for ignoring his letters and calls to take proactive steps in checking the excesses of rampaging herdsmen before it degenerated to the level where innocent people were being killed and abducted in the region.

Point blankly, he called the governors by their names and explained how he made attempts to call their attention to the menace of the cattle breeders.

He said: “Nobody can take Yoruba land or constitute nuisance in South-west because Yoruba have been living peacefully for the past 120 years, so the incursion of criminally minded people will no longer be accepted.

“History will not forgive any south-west governor that gives land to herdsmen for the breeding of their cattle because the issue of insecurity is now overwhelming.

“We are not only talking about south-west alone, we are talking about everywhere Yoruba live, including Kogi and Kwara states. All hands must be on deck to curb insecurity because the progress of Yoruba land should be a collective effort of all of us.”

PoliticsRe: Atiku Plays Video Clips To Collaborate Evidence At Tribunal by King44(m): 7:45pm On Jul 15, 2019
olajay86:
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, Monday played a video recording at the election petition tribunal where a Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini admitted that the electoral body would transmit election results with the use of smart card readers to the INEC central server.

Igini spoke with Channels Television shortly before the election was conducted.

Atiku’s counsel, Chris Uche, SAN, had tendered 48 combat disc and admitted by the tribunal as part of efforts to substantiate alleged rigging against the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Uche who led Atiku and PDP legal team at the Appeal proceedings, tendered the 48 video recordings through Mr. Segun Showumi, one of the media aides to the PDP presidential candidate.

During the play of one of the recordings, the INEC REC for Akwa Ibom State was emphatic when he told the Channels TV crew that the electoral body would surely use smart card to transmit election results into the INEC server.

However, under cross-examination by INEC led counsel, Yunus Usman, Atiku’s witness admitted that Igini was not the official spokesman for INEC.

Meanwhile, Buhari through his counsel, Alex Izinyon had sought to play counter-video recording tomorrow.

In another video recording, played in the courtroom, INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu expressed optimism before the election that the Commission would use the electronic system during the conduct of the 2019 general elections.

Earlier, the tribunal chairman, Justice Mohammed Garba had dismissed the objection by Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to tendering and playing of the said video recording before the tribunal on the ground that they were not frontloaded.

Justice Garba held that both Buhari, APC and INEC are bound by the pre-hearing report they freely signed to the effect that documents to be tendered from the bar can only be opposed at the final address stage.

The tribunal chairman in the unanimous ruling also held that none of the four parties to the agreement can renege on any of the terms and, therefore, admitted the video clips as rendered by the two petitioners through their star witness.

Also, three witnesses Babagana Kukawa, Abana Pogu and Suleiman Mohamed Bulama from Borno and Yobe states had testified that voters in the two states were harassed, intimidated and threatened farmers to either vote for APC or risk being ejected from their farmlands.

In his evidence, Bulama alleged that the APC used soldiers to molest ,attack and injure some voters suspected to be sympathetic to PDP. He also alleged village and district heads were allegedly used to coerce the voters into voting for Buhari.

But hearing was scheduled to continue from tomorrow.

https://dailypost.ng/2019/07/15/atiku-plays-video-clips-collaborate-evidence-tribunal/amp/
if they should play a counter video the time duration of when both the counter video and that declaration by inec chairman must be checked cos you can't say the use of electronic bla bla bla has been concealed and after few days Inec chairman says another thing definitely it wasn't canceled the the first place it was just a mere declaration that wasn't effective, also they should check the originality of the counter video cos APC, inec, buhari are all frauds

besides why am I even giving them a clue, PDP were the main reason why we are in this mess in the first place, if they had serve the people, showed competency and they did not milk the country to her knees no one would be talking abt buhari and APC in the first place, they are like 5&6

You don't have any point.

How do you prove that Buhari is worse than Obasanjo? Buhari has only used 4 years and you already think he is the worst and should be hated while the likes of Obasanjo were there for 8 years but did nothing to manage our resources well enough to even make us an industrialized country.

Tell me how Obasanjo, Goodluck and even Yar'Adua are better than Buhari? Did electricity improve and then depreciate under Buhari? Was Nigeria industrialized and become a Third World Country under Buhari? If I remember vividly, Boko Haram grew under Obasanjo and became a terror under Jonathan. Under Jonathan, the Fulani milia became one of the deadliest terrorist groups in the world.

As for human rights abuses, was it not under Obasanjo that Odi people were massacred? How many Senate president were hurtled out of seat in the most glaring manipulation of the NASS in the history of our country?

Buhari may have underperformed in the books of many Nigerians, but to hate him on that score while merely criticising our other failed leaders does not only reek of hypocrisy but is also beyond reasonable .
bro the earlier we stop blaming past leaders and hold the present responsible for his action and inaction the better

4 years is not enough to at least give us a sense of direction abi, have you forgotten he spent almost all of that four years touring UK and other countries either for treatment other things, while Nigerians were complaining of how things were getting bad in the country but he showed less concern until it got to this level

bro, be realistic if you have a new boss at your work place and after four good years things are either stagnant or getting worse, even though you can't voice out won't you wish he quits before his incompetency start affecting you?

be realistic, what if you have a brother in the village and he was murdered by herdsmen and confirmed won't you hold the govt responsible?

while other African countries leaders take a bow when their incompetency is obvious ours thinks if he doesn't rule for 8 years it is a disgrace thus held on to power with his teeth and fingers

Pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere on Sunday said Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) cannot be regarded as one of the defenders of the Yoruba nation based on his utterances and actions especially on the issue of killer herdsmen in the country.

The organisation also condemned Tinubu’s statement in Ondo during his condolence visit to Pa Reuben Fasoranti on the killing of his daughter by suspected herdsmen last Friday.

Yinka Odumakin, National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere said Tinubu has been silent on the activities of the herdsmen because he is one of their prominent supporter.

He said Tinubu's statement in Ondo on Sunday that Nigerians should stop regarding kidnappers as herdsmen shows that he is sympathetic to the cause of the activities of the herdsmen in the country.

"He is their supporter. In October last year in Abuja , he was the first person to advocate Ruga that all unused lands in Nigeria should be given to herdsmen. Today in Akure, he went to 'mourn' with Pa Fasoranti and when he finished, he was speaking as if he went there to dance on the grave of the deceased when he said people should stop categorising kidnappers as herdsmen".

"That herdsmen are not the ones that started kidnapping. Is Evans a Fulani herdsmen? So, he went to pour salt upon injury. So, we cannot count him among our defenders in Yorubaland" he said

The re-election of Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria's president may not have come as much of a surprise to many Nigerians, but there were some powerful men who made sure that the reelection bid was successful.

As President Buhari got reelected, these 10 politicians played significant roles in their corner.

Here are the 10 men who stood firm with President Muhammadu Buhari during the electioneering season.

1. Bola Tinubu

The Jagaban Borgu has been one of President Buhari's strongest ally since 2015 and 2019 Elections wasn't left out as Dr. Bola Tinubu and his south west men strongly threw their weight behind Mr. President

Most of the electioneering campaigns in South Western part of the country were sponsored by APC National Leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his foot-soliders.

2. Adams Oshiomhole

Former Governor of Edo State and Current National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole played a significant role in the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari, Oshiomhole was a bare-knuckled, hands-on campaigner whose time as labour leader still endears him to the grassroots.

Despite the disunity of the party after the Gubernatorial and legislative party primaries, Comrade Oshiomhole still didn't allow that support him from campaigning in all 36states of the federation.

3. Rotimi Amaechi

He could lay down his life for Buhari if it came to that.

A good talker who packs a punch and then some, Transport minister Amaechi never shies away from picking fights for the cause.

He has taken on everyone as he defends the government he serves in—from the PDP, to Rivers Governor Wike, to anyone who says the APC has performed poorly since it assumed the reins at the center.

He’s also not afraid to fight dirty, giving as good as he gets.

4. Nasir Elrufai

Kaduna Governor Elrufai told whoever cared to listen that all the APC Governors will back Buhari’s re-election bid.

Elrufai also told former Vice President Atiku Abubakar not to waste his time and money because Buhari will be unbeatable in 2019.

And he says it with chutzpah, with pride and with reckless abandon.

Elrufai talks a good game and could be brutally honest, perhaps a bit too much for his own good.

Call him Buhari’s adopted son and you’d be darn right.

5. Abubakar Malami

Currently the Attorney General of the Federation and Former Legal Adviser to President Buhari's party, Congress for Progressive Change.

Abubakar Malami's role in the last election was one of the strongest reason why President Muhammadu Buhari came back, he stood firmly with Mr. President to stop any legal orders that would've hindered President Buhari's reelection bid.

6. Rochas Okorocha

The former Governor of Imo State, Sen. Rochas Okorocha is a deft political player with the nous of a veteran. He’s pivoted to the APC for a while now and has been singing the praises of Buhari.

He may just be the man who sells the APC to a Southeast region where it is most derided.

Rochas Okorocha was the convener of South East For Buhari and other initiatives that aided President Buhari's increased votes in the South East Region.

7. Babatunde Fashola

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola's commitment and contribution to President Buhari's 2019 campaign was tremendously high.

Apart from being the Director of Election Planning and Monitoring for President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign, the Former Minister led several campaign groups for Mr. President especially in the South Western Region.

Mallam Adamu Adamu also served as the secretary of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Council.

9. Col. Hammed Ali

The Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Hammed Ali Was one silent Supporter President Buhari had.

Hammed Ali was the national leader of the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), he used the organization to sponsor countless Voters Education Campaign and Door to Door Campaign for Mr. President.

10. Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo

The Anambra Born APC Chieftain, High. Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo's role remains significant.

He has been a supporter of President Buhari since his days in CPC, High. Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo was one of the brain behind the biggest support group for Mr. President, Good Governance Ambassadors of Nigeria (GOGAN), during the Electioneering season, his other support group, G23 For President Buhari focused primarily in the South East Region and sponsored thousands of rallies, campaigns in the region.

He believed that re-electing President Buhari is critical to moving the country to the next level of infrastructural and economic development.

hmm, don't get me twisted, I'm not saying that fulanis are not bad..yes they are bad infact they are very very bad.. but we should stop linking every crimes to them, because as long as we continue any body can commit crimes and hide it under fulanis. And again your comments show u have personal issues with Tinubu.
yea I do have personal issues with him cos he has placed his selfish ambition over his people, and it is so obvious, he doesn't have the qualities of a good leader, he thinks 2023 is guaranteed for him as long as he pitches his tent up north well it might work out for him thank lawd we are already back to a shitty democracy besides I admire his intellect when it comes to politics but other things no he is just a puppet
