BusinessRe: GTBank Is Opening Unsolicited Bank Accounts For Unsuspecting Customers Unawares by King44(m): 2:01pm On Aug 10, 2019
tk4rd:
The latest trick now coming from the GTBank is that they are opening GTB accounts for people unawares.
It happened to me, and I am not happy...
Take my case for instance, I didn't fill any GTB form whether at office or at home or anywhere, I have never dialled their *739# or whatever code which they shared on hand-fans to people, I didn't even collect the hand-fan immediately I noticed it belonged to GTB.
I have never been to any of the GTB branches for anything for more than three years now, not even to pay into another person's account, nor even to use their ATM., yet GTBank went ahead and created an account for me, and sent the account number to my phone, and requested that I supply my BVN to them.
I got alerted in my sixth-sense, that some scammers have remembered my phone number and wanted to scam me in the guise of GTB.. I laughed it off.
But on a second thought, I started wondering if the account number was scam, or whether it was actually real.
I decided to transfer money into it using my bank's mobile app, so as to see the name that will come out on it.
Lo and behold, it was my name there on the account.. And it means that GTB already has my name and some other information about me in their database, even when I have practically nothing to do with them.
That means, for real,, GTBank actually opened the account for me. But how did they get my name.?
I am really wondering how information about me got to them in the first place.
.
In fact, who are the people that breached their privacy policy and shared information about me, including my phone number to GTB?? How many other firms and groups and individuals (whether good or bad) had these same people shared information about me to apart from GTB?
My fellow Nairalanders, believe me, I feel so unsecured and electronically raped right now at this very moment.
As it is now,, Whichever firm is it that sold (or shared, or gifted) information about unsuspecting innocent citizens of this country to GTB (and to any other unknown firms yet), had committed a grave atrocity by going against the privacy of their clients/customers.
Funny enough, it wasn't only me they opened such accounts for. They did it to so many people, and a greater percentage of them had been ranting on their social media handles and timelines. Other people kept mute and ignored it altogether, thinking that it is nothing.
But to me, it is a big “Something”. I see something very huge and very very bad about it.
This just means that, very soon all the other banks and Insurance Firms and many other firms we know nothing about, both in Nigeria and beyond, would also get information about unsuspecting citizens from whichever sources that had decided not to protect the privacy of their trusted customers and clients, and then open unsolicited accounts in their names and forward the new account details to their phones, and start expecting them to come and be using the new accounts just like that.
That is not just Fair.
Something needs to be done about this, and it must be done quickly.
.....
....
Facebook commited a similar breach of privacy policy, and the penalty on Facebook for such an offence was really huge..

PoliticsRe: Timi Frank: Jonathan Was A Better President, Nigerians Should Apologise To Him by King44(m): 1:06pm On Aug 10, 2019
kidap:
A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on Nigerians, particularly those who worked against the re-election and sabotaged the former President Goodluck Jonathan to publicly tender an apology if the country must move forward.

Frank said unless Nigerians prefer to continue in pretence, the era of former President Jonathan managed well the challenge of insecurity compared to what the country has now.

In a statement Timi Frank released to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, called on religious leaders, traditional rulers and all Nigerians who directly or indirectly worked against Jonathan's government to ask for forgiveness before it is too late.

Frank acknowledged that there were things Jonathan's government should have done better but in all Nigerians made a wrong choice of electing the current administration.

"I call on Nigerians that we should beg former President Goodluck Jonathan for wrongly voted him out and sabotaged his government. I must confess that as an APC figure in 2015, we fabricated many lies against Jonathan, though I have publicly apologised to him but other Nigerians, especially the pastors, Imams, traditional rulers and other opinion leaders should beg for forgiveness too.

"It is obvious now that insecurity in our Nation has gone out of hand. The challenge was limited to a zone under Goodluck Jonathan but presently no state, including General Buhari's home state is secured.

"Under Jonathan, Fulani herdsmen were using stick but they now carry AK 47. Under Jonathan, lives of Nigerians were more important despite the challenges but under Buhari, cows are more important than lives.

"There was democracy and rule of law under Jonathan but its now rule of force and impunity. Under Jonathan, National Assembly were active and working but its now a rubber stamp.

"Under Jonathan, Nigerians abroad were relocating back home but under Buhari Nigerians are running away. Under Jonathan Nigerians are respected all over the world but that has since gone under Buhari.

"Under Jonathan Nigerians were crying in tears but now Nigerians are crying in blood

"Under Jonathan, there was freedom of speech but that has long gone under the APC administration.

"Under Jonathan, poverty, hunger and unemployment were not as bad as it is today. Under Jonathan Nigeria was a unitedunited Nation but sentiments have taken over now.

"As it is now, all the institutions of government that were working well under Jonathan have all been blackmailed and politicised.

"So, I call on others who betrayed Jonathan to come out publicly and apologise to him. I also use this opportunity to appeal to former President Jonathan to forgive Nigerians and bless the Nation against the evils that have pervaded the land."

Frank said Nigerians should ask the APC administration what happened to the $1 Billion ECA money removed to fight insecurity in Nigeria.

He called on Nigerians to support a peaceful revolution to take back Nigeria to the good old days from the hands "evil men in power."

Signed
Comrade Timi Frank
Political activist
Abuja.

no apology, he wasn't performing well insecurity was just something else in the north and every Nigerians were concerned plus their was huge treasury looting done be people in gvt n not him, but now under Buhari insecurity has taken another dimension it has shifted from the north to the south and the northerners are in support of the shift thus they see nothing wrong cos they are not that affected besides insecurity is not the only problem now the whole country is on her knees now Buhari is the one doing the looting along with his officials and party members, left for me we should have left Jonathan alone n let him continue ruling not this tyrant presently ruling us but I don't subscribe to apologies

CrimeRe: Labourer survives herdsmen attack in Anambra school by King44(m): 4:28am On Aug 06, 2019
Elchicolo:
A 35-year old labourer in Awka, Anambra State, has survived a brutal attack by herdsmen in one of the secondary schools in the state.

The victim, Patrick Nnabuchi, who hailed from Eha Amufu in Enugu State, but resides in Awka, was said to be working in the school premises when he was allegedly attacked.

Narrating his ordeal to reporters in Awka, Nnabuchi said he was attacked for challenging the herdsmen against grazing on the vegetable farm in the school.

He said he was taken unawares by the herdsmen who attacked him from behind with a machete tied to a stick.

He said: “I was engaged by the school management to carry out some construction work in the school and was doing the work when the incident took place.

“When I saw the cows trespassing on the farm and grazing on people’s farmland, I asked them to pursue them from grazing on the vegetables.

“It was not long after I walked away from the scene when one of them ran after me and hit me on the head from behind.

“Before a security man in the school and one other person could rush to the scene, the attackers had jumped into the erosion site within the area.”

Nnabuchi said he was unable to run after his attacker because he was unconscious for a while, adding that they disappeared through the gully erosion near the school before some people came to his rescue and later rushed him to a nearby hospital where he spent three days receiving medical attention.

The state police public relations officer, PPRO, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, however, said no such case was reported to the command.

The victim’s landlord, Mr. Nwama Ibe, while condemning the action, said the issue of Fulani herdsmen had become worrisome one in the state.

According to him, there was need to re-enact the 1960 anti animal roaming law, which operated in the defunct Eastern Region to control the activities of the menacing herdsmen in the region.

“The Southeast governors should enforce the law in the zone, to avoid such clashes,” he further said.

PRAISE GOD WITH ME !!!

Yesterday, around 5:30 Pm as I drove from Isuochi to Enugu, the unthinkable happened. This was just before UNTH after Awgu junction.

Suddenly, this hooded Person ( dressed in Fulani Regalia) jumped out of the bush in front of me and started shooting at my Car. Before I could make anything out of it another three appeared a bit in front and bullets started flying everywhere. I have been hearing about Fulani Herdsmen but what I saw yesterday is better imagined than experienced.

The stories I have read on how these guys operate and THE EVER ABIDING PRESENCE OF JEHOVAH all worked in those few minutes. I was determined not to stop. My Staff, Prince, who was on the Passenger sit literally passed out. As the bullets rained on my Car, I kept speeding away.

About one Kilometer from there, Just before UNTH and NNPC Mega Station was a Military Checkpoint. I heaved a sigh of relief and slowed down. I told the Army guy what was going on just behind their Post. He casually told me that they were aware.. that the driver in front of me just told them. I asked him why he was still standing there without making any move to save the vehicles behind, and he just looked at me blankly and waved me on.

By now, my entire dashboard was full of red lights. The temperature of my Car hit the highest point on the meter. I slowly drove down to the front of NNPC opposite UNTH and pulled the Car out of the road.

It was then it dawned on me what happened. There were over 20 bullet holes in my front fender. Most of these bullets hit directly at my Radiator and other things in front of the engine. The tyres which they were after, didn't get a scratch. There were also two bullet holes on the passenger side of the Car. And few others around the Booth. Let God be praised !

But in ALL these, NOT ONE OF THOSE BULLETS TOUCHED MY BODY AND THAT OF PRINCE, the boy with me. At the Military Checkpoint, we pleaded with the army people to alert others not to go in that direction.

Praise God with me.

Nigeria is surrounded.

Nowhere is safe.

This thing is far more serious.

The Government and people of Nigeria should better treat this as an emergency. It's beyond Politics. Anyone can be a victim.
since we are not ready to demand our right from the gvt of the day this type of news is music to my soul, may God continue to guide me n my family all man for himself in this jungle

Corruption has grown to be an Ideology in Nigeria.
Any revolution in Nigeria would create a new type of corrupt system.
Those craving for revolution are the unfavoured class, they are singing: " "Do something new in my life'
Those against revolution are the favoured, their song is simple: "It shall be permanent, what the lord has done for me, it shall be permanent*
Whereas, some of us are at the centre of the Spectrum, whether revolution or not, we just need our share of the large cake, whether revolution or reforms.
Why I now say , corruption is ideological is that the two cries or songs are products of interest
I agree with you pa! this is how tinubu became jagaban they all have ulterior motives that would be revealed in time, but if the government wants to arrest arrest based on concrete evidence of rebellion not mere talk, buhari mehn I am just short if words it even pains me more to hear that Atiku is the best alternative to buhari these are bunch of don't do wells who once ruled and instead of them to take a back seat and help the country nature those who will put the country on track they came back or planning to come back n loot, one is even shouting kill kwaruption now na kwaruption dey kill us for this country, we don't even know who is winning between Mr Kwaruption n Buhari it seems both of them have called a round table n starting harvesting from the country already

So if a group of people write the CBN they are coming to rob, you expect the government to sit and watch when they know the identity of these people just because we are in a democratic setting?

And when they come to rob and the incidence claim lives and properties, it is you and your people that will blame the government for being too "slow"

Bokoharam started with the ideology of Western Education is a sin..it started like they were preaching the gospel...see where we are today!
If the government had done the needful when the movement was a baby, only God knows if we would be having any boko nightmare now...

Some of these systems were never designed for the black man.
at this point I conclude you don't have a single atom of sense at all, all effort made to convince you that freedom of speech shouldn't be limited based on talk and no concrete evidence of revolt in a democratic government proved abortive, nothing on earth can convince you, I believed you were paid well their money is working wonders if na me sef I go do worse but you can't convince us buhari is on track because he is not

koboko69:
Revolution definition from 2 different dictionaries;

1. rev·o·lu·tion

a forcible overthrow of a government or social order, in favor of a new system.

synonyms: rebellion, revolt, insurrection, mutiny, uprising, riot, rioting, rising, insurgence, insurgency, coup, overthrow, seizure of power, regime change;

2. : a sudden, radical, or complete change
a fundamental change in political organization

especially : the overthrow or renunciation of one government or ruler and the substitution of another by the governed

While I am strongly in support of freedom of speech and association, I really don't think any government in the world wouldn't act on organizers of a protest which have been widely publicised as a "REVOLUTION" protest.

In my PERSONAL opinion, a better adjective or word should have been used for the so called protest.

Occupy Nigeria is a good example
The 2 face 1 million march which he later called off is another.

Whats your take?

This is coming on the heels of the purported arrest of Sowere.
arresting a protester based on the name he chose to call his or her protest is barbaric, they the government can't say they don't know what the protest is all about, they are just looking for a reason to limit freedom of speech from inception
