Chidimercy: Good morning sir. My car is a 4 cylinder. Sincerely I don't know how to go about this you posted. P0420 catalytic converter below threshold Bank 1 indicates your car has a Bank 2 also. This means your scanner sees the car as a V6. Except you run a live scan, we won't know the full reasons for the bad fuel economy. Pls, how much fuel do you put in your car and how far does the car travel when this fuel is pumped into the car. Which state are you mostly driving in? |
Car Talk › Re: 18.3 Mpg by kingreign(m): 6:49am On May 22, 2025 |
Chidimercy: Please I am still waiting for your response Chidimercy: Scanned the car and is giving me this codes;
P0420 - Powertrain Catalyst System Efficiency below Threshold (Bank 1)
P0441 - Powertrain Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
P0560 - Powertrain System Voltage
P0560 Have the catalytic converter manifold removed and catalytic converter inspected for blockage or crack on both sides. (Your car is a V6). You also may wish to change your purge valve for the evap system. It's located just by your intake pipe before the air filter box. But I'd really love to see a live scan via video and also to know the state of your spark plugs and fuel injectors, fuel pump and air filter to know what actually is happening. |

FILEBE: Good day. I ma having this weird issue. Don't know if someone else has experienced it also before .
If I park uphill, like park with the engine inclined upward, after some hours of it cooling down . The engine will fail to start, it will crank but won't start. If I park on a plain level, car will start fine , once.
I have tried this 4 times and same result. It just started happening this week.
So, what happened that would not start the csr uphill is that the spargplugs become water wet. Cleaning g the sparkplugs and blowing of residual water left in the engine will immediately start the car. What could be the reason for this? This only happened when parked uphill and left to cool for a while. Let's say 4 to 5 hours . It's normal, that's how beetle does. Anyways, it may be acting such way because of your fuel pump isn't picking up fuel. Check your fuel pump installation and correct the alignment of the fuel pump and fuel ASSY in the tank. |

Chidimercy: Please what is paint thinner? Don't put paint thinner into your car tank. It will degrade the rubber seals and other components and cause issues later on. It can mess up your oxygen sensors and also piston crowns and lead to expensive engine damage. 2cribz: Everyone does. Buy paint thinner. Or bone. I have told u.if u like go to mechanic.na u know. JoeSef0: I can't remember, it's been long. I've been using the car without thermostat all this while. But this evening i fixed back the thermostat. Fan kicked in at 190°f, went as high as 200°+ I test drove the car for like 10mins without AC (my ac is bad) At some point it went as high as 230° thereabouts, then it reduced again. I was monitoring it with my small obd scanner. As for the temp gauge on the dashboard. It got to the middle and at some point when it hit the 230 mark, it went slightly above the middle.. it was night so i couldn't risk taking a picture. But no sign of overheating what so ever. I know 230° is highz I'm not sure it's normal Picture below was taken while on idle before the test-drive Abrg convert am to °C, I am lazy with °F calibration. |

JoeSef0: My 06 Tsx doesn't have a thermostat when i got it. I've bought 2 toks thermostat for it and it always overheats but once the thermostat is removed. It never overheats. I thought the thermostat were bad as they were used, i was already asking around for vendors that had brand new. But this afternoon I was just making some research online and i saw i could test if the thermostat opens with boiling water which i tested the 2 and both open and close in hot and cold temperature which indicates they works fine.
So now I'm confused something else is causing the over heating
Now I'm curious why they car keeps overheating when the thermostat is installed
Image 1: Thermostat open Image 2: Thermostat closed There's definitely something wrong with your engine cooling system. Start with checking the radiator cap for pressure, radiator to for leaks and blockage. If none is found, check pipes and hoses. Check fan air flow direction. If all is fine, check ECT 1 and ECT 2 sensors and then proceed to heater core under the dashboard. If nothing all is okay, check your engine head gasket |

JoeSef0: My Acura tsx key is refusing to go inside the ignition. Firstly i noticed the key doesn't go in the ignition slot seamlessly as it should be, like it get stuck a bit in the Middle but sill enters. But after washing my car this evening it has become harder for the key to go in fully. I read online and discovered the ignition lock is faulty.
My question now is, who do i take the car to for fixing and how much am i looking to spend on a new ignition lock if that's really the issue No mention of the year of the vehicle. That said, it can be replaced. They share parts with Honda accord of similar year. Prices differs with location and sellers decision. |

HitmanDembele: Hello guys. My vehicle, a Rav 4 2004 model with a 2AZ engine refused to start as it just cranks whenever I attempt to start the vehicle. The fuel gauge was at E before I parked it and then I didn’t attempt to start it until about 7 days later when I wanted to warm the car, that’s when I noticed it was just cranking without starting. I figured maybe the fuel level was too low so I purchased 10litres of fuel and attempted to start to no avail. I got another battery as I figured maybe my battery had run down a little but still no startup. Called the first rewire guy and he attempted fixing it by checking all the fuses and using that light bulb stuff but it didn’t start and he stated that the brain-box was faulty. I called another rewire guy the next day who had helped me before as I had experienced a similar issue of no startup but on this occasion I was driving when the vehicle turned off and when I checked the battery head had pulled off, fuel level was also on E on this occasion. I attempted starting the vehicle and it just cranked but on this occasion the rewire guy was able to get it working again. There was also another instance before this present one where the battery head pulled off while I was driving and the vehicle turned off and when I attempted starting the vehicle again it just cranked. Fuel was also on E. I found a rewire guy close by and after so many tries he wasn’t able to get it to start and as night was approaching he manually put the vehicle in drive and we pushed it to his shop and on getting there I attempted starting the vehicle and it turn led on. So presently now, the rewire guy that helped me before has stated that the ECU is faulty as it’s not supplying to 2 of the coils and that I’ll need to change it. Please guys is his recommendation on point? Remote diagnosis on this is difficult, get a competent technician to fix it. That said, 2001-2003 Rav4 were known to have ECU issues which could over time cause the transmission to fail |

chrisatah94: Greetings everyone
I drive a 2009 Honda Civic and I’ve only used it about four times over the past month and a half due to frequent travel. Lately, I’ve been experiencing a starting issue — the car won’t start unless I jump-start it using my neighbor’s battery. Even after driving it for several hours, once I park it overnight, it still won’t start the next morning.
I’m unsure if the battery is completely dead and needs to be replaced, or if there might be another underlying issue. If it’s likely a battery problem, I’d appreciate any recommendations on a good replacement battery to buy, including price if possible.
Thanks in advance for your help! Replace battery. |

Health › Re: How Can I Deal With A Yellowish Teeth by kingreign(m): 6:59pm On Apr 30, 2025 |
Nazgul: [s]Most of the time, yellowish teeth comes as a result of poor oral hygiene[/s]
So I'd advise you to focus on a good oral hygiene. Get a good and strong toothbrush and brush your teeth and tongue at least twice a day. I would also recommend that you consider using mouthwash as well. 3 times a day would be a great start to keep your breath fresh.
If your teeth remains yellow without any sign of improvement after 2 months of using this method, see your dentist. Use of drugs like Tetracycline by a pregnant woman can affect the teeth of her child. Genetics can cause it, dental damage, aging and even certain foods can cause it. The excessive use of fluoride can cause yellowing of the teeth. You do NOT need brush with strong bristles as they'll cause oral bruising and injuries to the gum except you're a nicotine addict. |

Cutezt: Good day house, please i don't know exactly what is wrong with my car, Honda accord, the car just won't go past 3k rpm, we've changed the VTC solenoid, we've tested the VVT solenoid too, and it moves fine, we changed the Oil pump, we've done everything, yet that rocker arm stuck code is still on, and the car still won't go past 3k rpm, once it reaches there, it jerks very hard, gear selects fine, car moves fine, but doesn't go past that 3k rpm.
I'm tired, any one can recommend a very qualified mechanic/workshop in Lagos who can sort this out?
Thank you. Scan that car. |
Car Talk › Re: Tell Us Your Car Faults. Let's Assess And Fix Them by kingreign(op): 5:42pm On Apr 18, 2025 |
Mavor: Actually not the case. I sent my mechanic to my friend and apparently it was a pressurization issue because there was air in the engine where water from the radiator was meant to be in. All sorted now. Thanks, You mean to say he bled the cooling system? Most Toyota of that era were designed with a self bleeding system. Water is drawn from the coolant reservoir bottle into the radiator to displace the air pocket trapped as the car is driven this is made possible by the radiator cap and the pressure it is designed to hold. I can assure you, that engine has a blown head gasket. |
