I will consider that, thank you for the help.
After you do that, involve a lawyer to write them giving them a deadline to produce that document from where ever they kept it or a court order be served which involves them paying damages.

I don't have any of those things you mentioned. The only evidence I have with me is the fine invoice which has nowhere indicated that my Passport is under collateral with them.
Faaaaaaaack!

They may deny it.
Go back to them, get a secret spy pen with video camera (no more than 10k) or even use your phone in a subtle way they'll not know they're been recorded. You need hard evidences to nail them.
Autos › Re: FRSC Misplaced My International Passport In Their Custody by kingreign(m): 2:34am On Jun 10, 2020
Javalist:
Sometime last year I was pulled over by officers of FRSC on an offense of not wearing a seat belt so, I was charged N3,000 and asked to go to nearest bank and make the payment. They wanted me to park my car until the payment was made into their account but I actually denied that because the day this happened was Friday evening and this meant that I would not be able to use the car again until Monday morning when banks would open again. So they gave me the option of dropping my International Passport with them until I'm able to make the payment so I could collect it back, I agreed and handed it over to them as I drove my car away.

Fortunately for me, I was called for a job interview scheduled that same Monday morning in Lagos. So I left my state (Sokoto) on Sunday afternoon for Lagos. After the interview, I was luckily employed and asked that I report immediately. For this reason, I couldn't come back to Sokoto anytime soon after my departure. However, before the Covid-19 thing got intensive, I returned back to Sokoto and decided to visit the FRSC office again for my Passport. After driving there to and fro for 3 straight days, I learnt that the Passport is no longer in their possession.

Please I need a candid advice, how do I handle this case with a governmental force like FRSC to retrieve my Passport back even if it means them taking care of the Passport's renewal. Can I take a legal action against them? Again, I more concerned about my Passport being used for impersonation purposes for any reason.

Thank you.
D you know the officer's name who took your international passport and their patrol vehicle number?
D you have recorded evidences maybe picture, video, audio or even a paper acknowledging that your international passport is in their custody pending when you pay your fine?

I ask this cos this is a sweet legal case and these folks could easily deny if you don't have proof.

So go back to their office, have a secret recorder on (spy video camera is better) ask them where they kept your international passport and ensure they admit that they withheld it pending when you pay up your fine and now it's no where to be found.

My car was running fine except that it usually throws P0301 and P0306. I changed the spark plugs(with Iridium Type) and injector nozzles
the problem persisted. The misfire codes occurs especially when climbing a steep ground. So my Mech advised than I should grind the valve seals, Top gasket, oil seals etc. After the job was done I started experiencing these codes: P0016,P0018, and P0020. To solve this we changed the Camshaft variable selenoid. Then came the P0021. Now the car performance is even worse than at the start. Can anyone out there help me out
Your mechanic didn't do you a good thing sha!

If it's not updated as is, you can get it updated via HDS (purchase the HDS tool), or visiting Honda Place for that

the right Mirror was broken when got it, i had to replace the right side mirror with a tokunbo one, same issue then i swapped it with a brand new one still the same. when i try to properly Aim the camera the it displays on the screen, but then press the switch on top of the lever to activate the lanewatch it wont do any thing and also when i turn the lever to the turn to the right no display on the screen.
When the replacement mirror came in, hope it's harnesses matched and was plugged in properly?

Thanks for the comment. Just a clarification though, i am not a travelling person as i hardly go out of Lagos like that, but to carryout the above, can i drive it to work once or twice a week.
I'd recommend you taking it once a month to places like Ibadan and back, Ore and back.
And like 3x a week to your office and back.

These cars aren't meant to sit at home.

Depends on the strength of the engine, 2008 Kia Rio comes with a 1.6L i4 Engine, if it has been used for years with its previous owner, it may not be too strong for long journeys, I think Kia Rio was made for just in-state movements and not interstate.

i bought this 2010 Benz GL450 4matic in February this year from another user. The former owner used to drive it to work everyday (less than 5km) and do other errands (picking up of his kids from school and travelling).

however, when ownership was transferred to me, i decided to make it an occasional vehicle i.e. parties and church which is only on weekends just to reduce the cost of fueling and maintenance.

But i met someone (a benz user) who advised against such practice that Benz are like planes designed to be driven everyday and not parked for long. Is this assertion true?

Also, is my current practice of not driving it everyday bad for the car? What are the risks involved?
Most modern cars requires you driving them quite regularly and also for considerable distance and amount of time.
In fact, once a while, take them for a very long spirited drive.

This is to de-carbonize the engine, allow fuel pressure dislodge dirts in the fuel lines and systems, lubricate moving parts and also completely warm up the engine and transmission and differential and others for longevity purpose.

Kia come with aluminium engine and some how expensive to replace.

My experience with kia cerator vs my experience with Toyota (camry pencil light).

My brother-inlaw bought a kia cerator tear rubber, and used it for a couple of years, (l am not sure, probably about 4yrs), then decided to sale when his boss was about to offload his kia optima to upgrade, to buy the optima. Me and my wife offered to buy the cerator. At that time, we were using a honda accord 1996 model or there about, a fantastic car. So it was an easy decision for me and my wife to make about buying the cerator, because it's a millennium car, l think about 2004 model or so. The price was more like a gift - 250k. Infact, as soon as l advertised the Honda here on this platform, l got a buyer quickly who paid 230k for the accord. We made up the money and bought our cerator. Manual gear system, with good airconditioner system and good engine and fine body. We enjoyed the ride until xmas for 2013 when we traveled with it to east from Lagos. Before then, l am beginning to get pissed with the car because of the extra stress it started putting on me. 1. My wife insisted we retain my inlaw mechanic who himself is an ex staff of kia motor. This is a problem for me because each time the guy come close to the car, l spend nothing less 5k. Coming from 90s car to a millennium car, it was too sensitive for my liking. It was simply draining me financially.
2. The parts is not a funny business. For instance, to change plugs, the mechanic usually insists we buy kia brand of plug, and it's like 5times more expensive compared than normal plugs l can buy on the street.

I continued to endure the stress until we traveled. Going was a very jolly ride. We spent our time in my village, left for Portharcourt to visit old friends before coming back. The car fired the first shot at us. It started stuttering. And finally stopped near Eleme Junction. A few mechanics l stumbled on to don't have any idea what was wrong with the car. After two frustrating hours of trying to find a solution in vain, l decided to call one of my friend who l believed could help and he did help because he immediately recommended a mechanic who has diagnostic machine. With that, after fiddling with vehicle for a while, everything seemed very ok and we finally set of to Lagos from PHC somewhat later than planned.

Our journey was smooth thereafter, except that as we started approaching Ore, the A/C stopped working, and tyat was the last time we used A/C in the car. No wahala! Bros, from the next day after the journey, l couldn't recognize the car again, it kept moving from one fault to another. Giving that we are still using the ex staff of kia as oir mechanic, l tell you, my pocket hear am until e clear me for eye.l decided we drop the mechanics. He was simply digging holes in my pocket. It took a while to find a replacement mechanic that understood the car. But no more the special attention and we managed the car till 2018 when it knocked engine.

To replace it, they were calling 450k. The body and interior was still in top shape, and after cross checking prices of Nigerian used cars in the market at that time vis-a-vis using 450k to buy another engine, l felt l should scrap the vehicle and buy another Nigerian used car. And that was how l decided to buy a Nigerian used 1999 pencil light Camry. I will be 3rd Nigerian user/buyer. The A/C was still blasting like a new or tokunbo car, thatinspired me not think twice about offer. The price was 400k I had a few fixes to do, like change the trafficators, the key gets stuck on the ignition once on a while, the radiator was leaking badly and the liey starter occasionally won't answer. Everything costs within 50k. By Xmas of 2018- l blasted the car from lagos to my village in the east, came back. The engine fan stopped workong on our way back at Onitsha on the 6th jan 2019. It costs me 10k to fix and l drove on A/C aall through going and coming back. In may 2019, I sold the car at 400k to l guess the 4th Nigerian buyer.

Now Sir, the choice is yours to choice.
No offence pls, and no insult meant but I think you specializes in buying scrap or your mechanics are specialists in converting cars to scraps.

whatever u do in buying nigerian used car ensure that u go with your friend you can trust that has at least 10 years driving experience and this ur friend will bring his most trusted mechanic. With 10 years driving experience he must has come across many mechanics and will give u the most trustworthy. i will advice u to stay away from that kia and reason is the parts are not usually available and u can hardly see competent mechanics all because it is not very rampant in nigerian roads. if ur budget is low, go for a honda or toyota but make sure u inspect. do not rely on car agents' "buy and drive nothing to fix" this statement is a lie 80% of times. most of them have never seen the car they are advertising but only the pictures.
So just because you want buy an innocent simple poor car who's only crime was being in Nigeria and you coming across it that makes you wanna carry all the whole of your friends, families, their friends and families and communities to check it?
