Good day nairalanders, happy Sunday to all of us. In recent weeks I have been searching for used Lexus Rx 350 cars especially 2007-2009. I have been searching through copart, Auction export, Iaai, ridesafely etc. I have observed that 99% of cars in Lagos are either over high mileage cars, savage or accident cars or flood damage cars. I have search for clean used cars in the US and the price I saw surprise me. They sale used cars based on mileage for example, a 2007 Rx 350 is been sold at $12,000, now do the calculation include $1,200 For shipping it will be $13,200 = 4,752,000 excluding clearing. Now how much is a Lexus Rx 350 2007 in Lagos? Check and know your self. My advice is for you and me to check the car history through VIN verification that will tell you what exactly you are buying.
Some car dealers will buy high mileage cars of 280,000 ,when it gets to Lagos they will reduce it to 80,000 and sell it as clean low mileage car.
I hereby submit that no Nigerian car dealer sales clean low mileage US used cars.
Please find attached price of used US clean low mileage cars

Well personally I've developed a healthy respect for the Toyota Hilux. I used the vehicle to navigate extremely harsh terrains in Taraba state and the vehicle did not fail one bit. No wonder the vehicle was the car of choice for US Special Forces ODA teams in Afghanistan.

I'm still drawn to the Ford Ranger though cos its aesthetically appealing to me.

The Hilux has gained a reputation for exceptional sturdiness and reliability during sustained heavy use or even abuse.

Use by militant groups

Due to its durability and reliability, the Toyota Hilux, along with the larger Toyota Land Cruiser, has become popular among militant groups in war-torn regions as a "technical". According to terrorism analyst Andrew Exum, the Hilux is "the vehicular equivalent of the AK-47. It's ubiquitous to insurgent warfare."[50] U.S. counter-terror officials have inquired with Toyota how the Salafi jihadist extremist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant has apparently acquired large numbers of Toyota Hiluxes and Land Cruisers. Mark Wallace, the CEO of the Counter Extremism Project said, "Regrettably, the Toyota Land Cruiser and Hilux have effectively become almost part of the ISIS brand."[51]

The 1980s Toyota War between Libya and Chad was so named because of the heavy use of Hilux trucks as "light cavalry" vehicles

I don't understand why everyone is castigating the seller. He bought a damaged vehicle, repaired it and sold for profit. It's business. The buyer checked it out before buying. The vehicle is working fine. Everyone is happy. Abeg don't go and ruin the man's joy

Hilux! Fuel economy, more tolerant to abuse and finally available parts

Firstly, join me to thank God for preserving my life out of a ghastly motor accident on Sunday. This is a car I bought just about a month ago. A vehicle from no where hit/push my car off the Expressway, summersaulted and attached is the crashed carcass/remains of my Toyota Corolla S 07.

I want to know how best or the possibility of fixing the car and put it back on the road. If yes, how and where in Abuja?

Once again, I thank God nothing happened to me, not even a bruise.
