Car Talk › Re: Re: Disastrous Impacts Of Overheating by kingreign(m): 10:24pm On Sep 14, 2017
TRYGO:
@diportivo. Yes it has two.

1. You've got one at the front on the engine block. That kind of thermostat there is engrafted or mated to the upper radiator hose connection. So, if that thermostat is faulty, replace the entire connection there. The thermostat on that part of the engine. doesn't come off separately like the rear.

2. The second one is located at the rear ward end if the top cylinder, at the middle, as you can see in the picture of the one I posted.

It controls the cylinder head temperature. So, if its faulty, it is a hell removing it. You've got to remove the manifold system, to get access to it.
Remember, that's where the engine coolant temperature sensor, and the gauge are located.

Thanks for the study, though, and reading through.

Catch you later then.
Hope this answers your huhs.

Any more, would try answer them.

better to replace the entire radiator instead of just the top.

Most radiators (camry 1998, camry 2007) get a hairline crack at the top after very high mileage usually over 150,000miles.

Most cooling systems require an overhaul (coolant, thermostat, water pump, radiator in some cases after 100,000 miles as preventive maintenance)

I never knew there were 2 thermostats in the 01 pathfinder.

And they are located behind the engine close to the fire wall in a very tight flitting on that VQ35DE angry

@diportivo. I think we(you) should not Juno into conclusions yet, just because your friend has brought up some kind stuff.

Let's wait for @kingreign, to provide more info on the replacement of critical parts he alleged, as a result of a failed cylinder head gasket.

Have got lots of these jobs I handle.
So, I think it would be perfect he provides details, or get us the client onboard, so we can commence debating.

What you think?

hello king reign, Pls can I get a quote/prices on these items. They are parts for a 2005 Toyota solara.

1. Power steering pump.
my mechanic noticed a leak and said the pump can't be repaired but replaced.
He also mentioned that the Camry 2.4 uses same power steering pump.

2. fog lamps for the said vehicle.

I would also want to know if its fine to use the common abro atf in a white container as power steering fluid for the said vehicle.

thanks
Location and type of engine?

I mentioned car name as Toyota Camry 2001...
Engine type is 4cylinder
No vex. Usually, automatic transmission fluids have a service lifetime of 30,000-60,000miles but when you do hard harsh driving always, you replace in say 15,000miles. You have to use genuine Toyota automatic transmission fluid type t-iv for the ATF change.

Hope that answers your query? smiley

How long do gearbox oil last before they are due for change?
This is the history of my car at the moment
2001 toyota camry le, changed gearbox oil last in 2015(my elder brother did) so I don't know the name of the oil used. Car hasn't been used regularly, maybe twice in a week for home chores, but for the past 10months or more car has been packed not problem though just that no body has been using it...
So now am back again to the house and want to start using it, I used a friends battery to start it and it answered immediately. So I want to know is it adviceable I change the gearbox oil as I want to change the engile oil and filter before moving the car, should I change the gearbox oil too because money no to they and am trying to save cost, I also plan at looking at the brakepad which I know its ok for now, how much is a good breakpad that I can manage for atleast some months before I carry out some body works on the car because I plan doing that ones money comes but now I want to be managing the car.
Thanks for ur responses
No car name, no car model, no year of manufacture, no engine type.

Very vague post bro, modify it.

Hi all. I am looking for an ABS replacement for a 2005 E320 Mecedes Benz. Dealers should contact me on 08064110745 (Call/WhatsApp).
Why do you want to replace ABS?

Hope you properly diagnosed it. Cos those W211 prefacelift models have SBC which gets bad and then the brake feels spongy and longer braking distance shows up after 400,000 brake pedal presses and you'd need to replace it.

Run a dedicated deep scan on your brake system v fore you finally go buy an ABS module.

But the most reliable of the lot, the least problematic and the one with the highest resale value.
This is followed by the Honda Pilot.

Back to the pathfinder, don't allow anyone to coerce you into buying that pile of lemon, you do, when the torments starts coming in its torrents, your bear the brunt alone and those who coerced you may only say 'sorry'. I've given enough advice sha.

Hope when the nasty radiator mixes the coolant with ATF and locks up his transmission you'd give him 750k unconditionally?
Hope when the useless fragile timing chains guides breaks and start clattering sounds and other timing related issues or when the CAM shaft systems get offended you'd be there to offer him money plus fix it?
