Ok so my issue.

I recently bought my car from a friend who was moving to Canada last month.
Vehicle is a 2007 Camry with V4 engine (2AZ)
The engine is great & gear is smooth but I noticed something was really off with the fuel consumption which was disturbing especially connsidering the fuel price situation we find ourselves in.

Other things I discovered were:

1. The Thermostat was missing.
2 My Kazeem told me that the belt adjuster was broken & that the current fan belt was longer than the usual one .

I scanned it today and these were the codes revealed:

1. P0128
2. P0172
3. P0037

My rewire pointed out an oxygen sensor as the culprit but is unsure of which of the 2 needs replacement.

I was hoping I could get some remote assistance from you as my location is at Lagos.
The fuel consumption is really worrisome.

Pls I need ur help.

Replace the Coolant thermostat, checkif the AF sensor and O2 sensor fuse are okay, if they are okay, replace the O2 sensor, and Heated Oxygen (Air Fuel ratio) Sensor. Then correct the belt pulley and routing.

Well, I paid for the oil and all, the company that replaced it bought the oil. During the service, I remember he used Sea Horse ATF oil. Do you have a recommended oil for me?

The recommended ATF is GENUINE TOYOTA TRANSMISSION FLUID TYPE T-IV

You don't just conclude or assume yet pls. It's a 4 year old vehicle, also, in this thread, I try to ensure the right steps are taken to ensure the car owner don't spend needlessly by doing guess work. The right step is to get the vehicle properly checked then narrow the issue to the faulty part.

I use a Mitsubishi Outlander 2019 model.

Once at 80km/hr and above, it makes an unusual "humm' humm" sound. Just did major service. All oils chnaged. Changed all tires and did alignment. Sound is still there. I now suspect wheel bearing.

What do u think guys ??

Discuss with the electrician, to be on a safer side that you will give him part payment to get the brain Box and fix. When everything checks out you balance him. Meanwhile make them no go bring a brain Box that will solve the problem and create another problem. Some of these brain Box have hidden issues that you won't know about until you drive for some time

I doubt any electrician will give him an ecu with part payment. It's not their property, it's a part seller's property unless the part seller and electrician reaches an agreement

Pls I need your help with my camry 04, about 3 months ago, I notice it jerks,, hesitates and drags whenever it's about to change to gear 3 while on motion.

I complained to my mechanic,, he said it's the brain box that has issue,, said I need to get another brain box,, Rewire said same thing,, about 2 other people said same thing.

But just to be on the safer side,, I went to Elizade ,,, they ran a scan and the technician said it's the clutch leather, said all we need to do is gear servicing.

We did the gear servicing quite alright,, infact he change the gear filter but this same issue still persists.

What do you think pls??

Pls remote assistance declined. Get a competent person independent of the three individuals/shop you've visited to check and resolve this issue.

The new gearbox I bought for my 04 Corolla developed a fault in less than 2 weeks. It would move for some seconds and stop. I found out fibre was burnt (as the engineer said). It was fixed and the vehicle started moving, but the reverse became stiff.

If I engage the reverse, it engages but won't move, and makes a kind of slight grinding sound. What could be wrong?

The new gearbox is less than two weeks. I'm considering selling the car like that.

Buy another gearbox.

Bleed brake, check size and measurement of brake discs and pad for wear, if worn out, or out of specs, replace with genuine parts. Check brake master if leaking or internal seals are worn out, pls replace or rebuild with genuine kits.

We have clean tap water here in Abuja. I prefer it more than the so called pure water

FCT water board provides very clean treated drinking water round the clock 24/7. I have personally carried out various test in these water from my tap vs satchet water sold around in kiosks and shops. They do not come close in hygiene levels to public water supply.

I carried out the following tests:
Total dissolved minerals, total suspended particles, temperature, PH levels, dissolved Oxygen levels, turbidity, conductivity, BOD, smell and colour. They're within acceptable limits for FCT water board.

I still drink tap water supplied by FCT WATERBOARD in my house. My pipes are clean and has no crack or exposure.

They said I should change o2 sensor but another person is saying nothing is wrong with o2 sensor that the scanner returned o2 sensor error because the catalyst is either bad or not present that I should go and service injector, I’m a little confused because the car drives well but just consumes fuel a little.

Note: the smoke doesn’t get inside the car. Everything is fine inside the car.

The little research I did says that there is too much fuel getting into the engine and the engine can’t burn all the fuel at a stroke so the fuel get out to the exhaust, not sure if this makes any sense

Please what can I do in this case and please if I’m to replace o2 sensor, how much is it.

“The former minister made us prepare a memo to that effect. It was considered and sent to the government.”
Also speaking, the Customs Area Controller of Seme Border Command, Dera Nnadi said the service has noticed a reduction in its revenue since the importation of vehicles was banned from the land borders.

Nnadi said: “The former Minister of Transportation, responding to some of our requests and from the stakeholders, promised to take them to the Federal Executive Council, FEC, one of them is how to fully open this border.

“The Ministry has informed us that the memo has been written to FEC and it was adopted and that it would be given to the new government, he assured us that all the requests were adopted.”

It depends on where the source of the leak is and what you mechanic feels is more comfortable to do to fix it.

Is it by the shaft entry point?

Good morning my gurus in the house , I have a pressing challenge with the pulley oil seal the one down the crankshaft area , it keeps leaking I have changed the oil seal to all manner of original seal . The one I fixed last just lasted for one month and it has started leaking again . I honestly do not know what to do again . My engine model is 1NZ and the car is this bank Corolla 2005 model . Pls help my people how do I solve this issue pls .

Get a genuine oil seal, carefully inspect the pulley oil seal area and the pulley if it’s defective. Rub some silicon gum on the outer edge of the pulley, install it carefully so as not to be misaligned, get some high temperature grease and rub around the edge of the pulley and inner edge of the oil seal. Install the pulley carefully so as not to misalign the already installed oil seal and also not to pinch on the oil seal. Torque to spec.

I need expert advice concerning the issue am facing with my Toyota Corolla 09 recently concerning the gear especially in the morning. About 2 months ago, I took the car toa mechanic with a complain about the braking system and after the check, he later checked the transmission fluid and said the fluid is low and even need outright replacement with new oil. He said I shld get 4 litre JohnHolt dexron 111 ATF, which I did.
Next morning, I noticed that the car won't move/engage when put on Drive unless after the engine runs for about 5mins whereas, if it is on Reverse, it instantly responds. However, once the drive engages after that early morning delay, it continues to perform throughout the day.
I later thought the dexron 111 fluid is the problem, I flush out again and replaced with Toyota ATF 1V fluid but the problem still persists. So every morning, I have to first run the engine for a while in idle for the Drive gear to engage. Pls what can be the cause and the solution to this as I am afraid of losing the gear completely? Thank you

Check if transmission sump took a hit, scan the car transmission also and post the codes here let’s advise accordingly.

There is no known engine defect in the 2014 to 20 Hyundai engine setup. Engines burn oil. Owners should check their engine oil after every fill-up.
