Phones / Re: What They Do Not Tell You About Uk Used Phones: Read And Be Educated by kirchofff(m): 5:09pm On Oct 11, 2017
dramaticspeak:
The only advantage the customer who walks into a shop to get a brand new phone has over the user of a UK used phone is the fact that the brand new phone comes with original charger and earpiece. Getting a UK used phone, you would have to get those separately and most times people end up getting fake which they know and will spoil the phone. It is advisable the users of UK used phones seek to buy “follow come” accessories. They are more expensive but they will last as against the “original” 1k or 1k5 chargers people commonly buy.

Let me make it clear here that there is a difference between Nigerian used and UK used phones. Nigerian used phones as the name implies, refers to the phones used by Nigerians and put up for sale. Several reasons make Nigerians want to sell their phones. They include: The fact that they want to upgrade to a higher version of a particular phone, They are in need of urgent cash, The Phone has hidden faults which is always usually the case, They have used the phone and are tired of it and just want to dispose of it. UK used phones are the phones used by foreigners. It is not only UK citizens but even those used by Americans, Arabians etc are all classified as UK used phones in the Nigerian market. These Phones are usually very clean and look just like new. .They are in perfect working condition as they have been tested .They come locked but are expected to be unlocked by the seller before they are put up for sale. When a phone is locked it means that if I insert my Nigerian sim into the phone no network would be discovered. There are several carriers a phone can be locked to and they include but not limited to: T-mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Tigo etc. Another category of locked phones especially for iphone users is icloud lock. I do not advise people to buy phones that are icloud lock because many a times such a phone is stolen and the cost of unlocking icloud is relatively high. How are these phones unlocked? They can be factory unlocked through the company website or they can be unlocked using a chip. Any phone that is unlocked using a chip it means that without the presence of that chip on your phones sim tray your phone would not recognize your sim network. But it is far cheaper to unlock a phone with a cheap and it helps to reduce the cost of such a phone in the market as it cannot the sold in the same price range as other phones. So far in my 7 years of selling UK used phones I have not had a single complaint on any of my phones.

How come people get scared to buy UK used phones? It is because of the activities of the customer’s ignorance of buying a fake charger that can damage a phones battery and dishonest sellers who either sell Nigerian used phones which has fault as Uk used phones to unsuspecting customers. Sellers who do not unlock their phones in order to save money and sell a phone locked to an unsuspecting customer or they put in chip and still sell at the normal price. Customers who know nothing of the chip might open the sim tray and dispose of the chip. Some sellers even sell stolen Phones and have ended up putting unsuspected customers in trouble. Hello, is this also applicable to laptops? Because I'm trying to get a UK used lappy soon.

Education / Re: Where Are Our First-class Graduates And Professors? by kirchofff(m): 9:50am On Oct 02, 2017
musicwriter:
What you need to understand is the education we get in Africa is just standard education, according to what white people wants us to know. It's so because this education was handed down to us by Europeans before leaving Africa. So, what we have in Africa is like a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy, and so on. It's because we copied it from others that it would naturally keep losing quality, just like you keep photocopying a document from one to another. My senior brothers got a better quality education than me, and I got a better quality education than my junior ones. Those that would come after us would keep getting less quality education. This is already an open secret, and everybody knows education is increasingly losing quality by the year. The more we copy it to future generations, the more it would lose quality.

I remember when we were in school back in the days, and they used to say those in primary school couldn't write a good letter. Later, the saying changed that those in secondary school couldn't write a good letter. Now, they say university graduates can't write a good letter anymore. Most of the certificates and qualifications ends on paper, not in practice. If those qualifications were real, you'll see it in our streets, in science and technology and all the other fields you mentioned.

However, it was deliberately designed that way right from the time it was handed to us by Britain. The colonial masters weren't really interested in giving education to their colonies. It was an after thought, and when they did, their priority was training people who can speak their various languages, people who could help them run the colonial administration, people who they could control. It wasn't about giving technical skills or learning how to build our own airplane. As a matter of fact, an educated person in British colony in the 1920's was someone who could speak English language. And in French colonies it was someone who could speak French language. The education disables an African mind to want to aspire scientifically, and as I said, it was deliberately designed that way. That's why we can't build our own roads and the rest of the things. It was designed so we continue to import our needs from the master.

We're going nowhere, until African leaders and those managing education in Africa understand this and re-invent education based on African philosophy.

As you suggested, the solution is overhaul the thing called education and re-install a brand new system of education created by us, a system of education without colonial hangovers. This would include using our native languages to acquire knowledge. Only then shall somebody who tells you he studied about mosquito talk about mosquito in a way it would be open source knowledge to everybody. It would no longer be a topic you have to first qualify as an English speaker to understand. A system of education that disqualifies our native languages from knowledge acquisition is slavery!! .

yeah this was exactly what the Asians did, (China, Japan, Korea etc.)

Ethiopia airline should do it. I once flew Rwanda air about 3 yrs back. Was the most uncomfortable flight I've been in with no where to hang ur leg, small chairs and worst of all the screen . You have 1 screen to 3 people not the usual of you having your own screen and we all have to watch same thing meaning you can't watch movies of your choice or anything u like . I had to go to their office in Dubai to ask if I could get a refund for my return ticket but it wasn't feasible. To worsen the whole journey ,the officials at their airport seized all drinks I bought in Dubai duty free (about 4 bottles of Jack Daniels) as well as other peoples food items etc said they won't allow anybody board with food or drinks. The stupid official even told me its either I drink my whisky or leave it so I had to ask him is that how you drink whisky? To cut the story short, I had to almost finish my bottle of Jack Daniels before entering the flight.
u finish 4 bottles of Jacky and dem no carry your corpse enter naija?? grin grin

linearity:

You lack comprehension and ability to analyze things and infer likely occurrence:

Let me break it down for you in ABC format:
A. fraudsters obtain the BVN, account & BIO info of a customer either through online phishing, clicking-jacking, XSS attack or through lost of wallet, robbery, etc.

B. Frausters enters Oluwole, to make an authentic looking ID with the victiim's BIO data/contact but with frauster's picture.

C. Approach the Bank about some 'wrong BVN' data that need to be changed...The bank changes the info and they now have not only to the victim's current account, but all accounts in any bank and future accounts.

That's it in ABC. They can also do all of the above through an innocent proxy under their control and who must have been incentivized, this way they can maintain a degree of separation...Even with their pictures on file, it will be difficult to catch them after the crime has been committed, because the Authorities wouldn't know their name or address.

Read more on identity thief, there many more scenarios....google is your friend!
all your points are invalid, for your info: I went to the bank to print out my BVN page because I needed it for something, I then discovered that the picture there wasn't mine but my other details( name, DOB) were correct. The cc personnel now decided to check if my biometrics
Too are correct, but eventually they aren't correct too....isn't it unfair for you to call me a scammer for a mistake I didn't make? Couldn't you inquire more info from me about what really happened before jumping into conclusion

only god knows what has happened to the real owner of that bvn ,infact this is a criminal case and the op should have been detained by the bank when he went to make enquiries about how to change that bvn acc picture and biometric
so I hacked into BVN data to change my name and could not change the picture and biometrics abi? You have brain very well

linearity:
This smell like scam or an attempt to bypass or test the very safe guards that are inherent in the BVN system.

Come to think of it, you indicated that all the datapoints (e.g. picture, fingerprint) that can be used to uniquely identify you are 'wrong' and only the ones (name, date of birth, etc) that can be misrepresented or stolen are correct.

You can see why the bank are turning you down. If this is allowed, nothing stops a fraudster to obtain the name, DOB, etc of a victim and approach the bank to change the picture and fingerprint.
fruadster wanting to change his "fraud" picture to his real one You don't have a point my friend

What will warrant the banks to check his BVN photo and finger print?
Since i enrolled i have never been asked for finger print or photo verification, How can one be sure his/her details was properly caputured.
why I was required to use my fingerprint was because I used my bvn as an ID to pic up a western Union money sent to me by a friend in the US. That's why I was asked to use my fingerprint to verify. Thanks

Its an error and can be corrected but it will take time depending on the bank, I had a customer whose bvn image was displaying a female, it was later changed, write to their customer care if branch level is not working[qquote author=kirchofff post=60682062]Hello guys, don't know if this is the right section for this.

I registered my BVN in 2015 during the rush hour period. But I just discovered now the the picture there is a wrong picture. My biometrics also can't access the the BVN. I went to the branch or the bank where registered it(Skye bank) they said that pictures on BVN numbers can never be changed. My other details like names and date of birth are correct. I'm so devastated right now because there's something important I want to use it for...
Any advice please?
Thanks in anticipation.
thank you very much bro, I don't know why these other guys think I'm fraudulent? So sad.

From your narrative, it seems that the enrolment was not done by you but by a proxy since your biometric is not also recognized. You may need to approach your Bank for fresh enrolment and thereafter ask for deletion of current BVN with supporting documents to prove your identity. Cheers!!!
thanks for this response, I don't know why these other folks don't believe me..isn't it ridiculous for me to try to claim someone else's BVN?
